Frantically googling "gender neutrality in french" just in case some hypothetical french person ever gets mad at how I describe my nonbinary ballet dancer OC.

#from what i can find there isn't really an agreed upon neutral in french which isn't surprising #so from danseur we could go with either dansereuse or dansaire #i guess going from ballerina/o is also an option which i think would be ballerine? not sure #i'm leaning towards dansaire because it sounds distinct from the other forms and sounds the best #idk if there's any actual convention i should be following here and i'm not sure if looking it up would result in much bc it's so niche #the woes of gender neutral language in the highly gendered systems of french and ballet ig
