Happy WBW! <3
What are the world's religions like in the Icarus series? Are they similar to our own, or are there unique religious beliefs?

Happy WBW!! I hope you have an amazing evening!
This is a fun question because it's kind of convoluted lol
So, like, all the worlds religions still exist in CMI. With it being a near-future dystopian based on out world, everything about our world is retained in the world of Call Me Icarus. It's just... different.
Primarily, in the United States, there has been a movement to revive the Old Gods in a desperate attempt to fix climate change. They do that by naming Elysians after characters from myth, including the Gods. They're meant to be like a living sacrifice to these Gods to earn their favor in hopes that they will aid humanity in stopping the severe progression of climate change.
However, this also comes with other side effects. The most noticeable one being that the abrahamic religions are kind off... pushed to the side? They are not the predominant religions in the US anymore because it's become apparent that the abrahamic God is willing to let the earth die.
But what comes out of that is a kind of like mash-up of christianity and paganism. People in modern America on a whole don't know what ancient greek religion entailed! So they kind of... cobble together what they think ancient greek religion entailed.
They worship the Gods, yes, but they don't have the rituals in place that ancient peoples did. It's more along the lines of like a pagan equivalent to catholics who only go to mass on easter and christmas if that makes sense.
Anyways this got really long, I hope this answers the question well enough! I could ramble about the convoluted mess that is religion in CMI all day if you let me
Thanks for asking!!
