Punk Skunk Girl and Punk Cat Boy doll set finished Sat. Nov. 16 2024 with pictures—took forever, finally done
I was really pleased with how these anthropomorphic cat boy and skunk girl dolls turned out. The heads (with original hairstyles) came from the 2020s MGA LOL OMG Hair Hair Hair pets line, which were all music-themed. The bodies came from Tomy(?) posable artist figures from AliExpress. I made most of their clothes (with contributions from toy companies MGA, Zuru, and Mattel), and I made all of their rock and rock accessories.
The tiny, male and female, black vinyl hinged and ball socket artist figure bodies caused many delays in finishing these this year, as the joints would break when they were moved. I had to use a combination of superglue with water putty powder, and sometimes black felt and super glue to stabilize and repair breaks. (Then I’d seal, paint black, seal, and repeat the steps when the joints inevitably broke again.) But there was nothing else available for doll bodies in black in this scale.
I made his black jeans, his black mesh top, her red sweater, her stretchy black tights, and her skirt from scratch from old jeans, an unused Forever 21 clearance cocktail dress, black scraps, and a new holiday-themed sock. His gold tone belt buckle is a tiny piece broken off of some bit of doll accessory or doll jewelry (likely Mattel Barbie). The printed top layer of her skirt was made by gathering the long printed satin care instructions in multiple languages from the dress tag.
His clear neon green “studded” vest came in a handful of MGA LOL OMG doll clothes and accessories bought at this spring’s Port Costa town-wide yard sale (studs had to be reglued, as they shed off the vinyl). His black cotton jacket and her black, red, and silver sleeveless top came from a new set of MGA Little Bratz clothes bought years ago. (The top came with “punk” printed in red on the fabric and the faux silver zipper trim.) Her boots were bought this year with a Barbie Extra Mini doll (which I bought primarily for parts) and painted black and sealed with Testor’s sealant.
His black Doc Marten-style boots (with real laces and tongue) and her black polka dotted bow came from this year’s Zuru Mini Fashion series 3 surprise ball pack. (A high quality detailed series of miniatures—I bought only the 2023-2024 series that came with fashion doll shoes.)
I made his neon green “studded” wrist bands from cheap plastic tube beads from Michael’s and painted the studs on with textured silver fabric paint (sealed with Testor’s Dullcote before and after), which is how I made the “studded” red band in her hair.
The parts of the outfits I was most pleased with are their 1980s rock band buttons and emblems. I printed out images from the original band merchandise online on our injet printer, then affixed them to either white thumb tacks, white card paper, or off-white felt with Mod Podge, then I sealed them with Mod Podge 3D “dimensional” clear coating.
His Oingo Boingo square green album button (with cat and Christmas graphic) is from “Nothing to Fear.” (I bent a wire into a square to be a “pin back” attachment glued to the card backing in this button.) His jacket patch (attached to his jacket with a rougher punk DIY style of stitching) is from the first EP “Oingo Boingo,” featuring the Louis Wain cat. Her yellow, pink, and orange Oingo Boingo Louis Wain cat button is supposedly the first button from the first EP.
I used the same method to create her Dead Milkman cow logo button, but I used a rubbery earring packaging plug (which comes on the ends of new earring wires) to affix it to the lapel, instead bending the thumb tack stem back with needle nose pliers, as I did with the other buttons. On her blouse collar’s lapel is a Siouxie and the Banshees band button with a portrait of the lead singer. Some of the ink came off in the glueing, so I carefully filled in the missing bits with a black felt tip pen before sealing.
Saturday morning, I photographed the pair posing together and dancing (including tgeir doing the Pogo) on our white brick mantel in the living room, with the natural light supplemented by a clip-on halo light (attached to my iPhone 13) and my flexible bedroom lamp twisted up from under my arm.
I enjoyed putting these together. It was a similar creative process as when, a few years ago, I repaired and made over some damaged old Sunshine Family dolls into 1980s teens and 1990s Seattle grunge skater kids. I think the pink and black mohawk on the MGA cat head gave me the impetus for this pair.

My goals for the year include trying to wear lolita more often, more casually, and being less picky about "perfect" coords. I've noticed that I will skip wearing lolita if I feel like I don't have every exact piece I want to wear ready, or don't feel like wearing heels, or don't want to wear wrist cuffs, or some other small excuses. So I'm trying to break that habit and get back to wearing lolita once a week at least!
I didn't quite make it for January (my garage door exploded, I've taken up gardening, the weather has been stupid hot, and some other things went wrong with my plans), so I'll be doing my best to continue with February.

Some of the ideas were helped made by @sbk-zgvlt, big thanks to them.
Now that our group of stranded sad teenagers(and one adult cause I almost forgot Leona is an adult), have taken a long rest, it’s time for the next course of action………..figuring out how the fuck to hide the non-human features of Leona, Floyd, Sebek, and Idia. Not to mention the whole group as a whole needs a new set of cloths since there Uniforms kinda stand out from the crowd(except Idia since it just looks like he’s just wearing an oversized jacket and not a uniform).
So they decided to got to the store to get the four some cloths at the nearest store, so after leaving Grim in the care of Yuu Mom(who I’m gonna name Milly) the group sets off.
After taking to most longest, complex route to the nearest clothing store(Forever 21), they managed to sneak the four into changing rooms thanks to Ace, Cater, and Kalim distracting the employees from noticing them by asking for outfits suggestions and also somehow making a route that avoid security cameras.
Yuu meanwhile grabs certain accessories for the guys in the changing room so they can hide their non-human features.
For Floyd, he was the easiest to get accessories for, since all he has to wear is a simple face mask to hide the teeth. For the other three however….it’s a little harder.
It took a while to decide what to get for Leona, while its easy to hide his tail, it’s a bit hard to hide his ears. But in the end, he wears a beanie, though the ears do pop up making it look like the beanie has a cat ear shaped design on too much to Leona dismay.
At first, Yuu thought maybe putting an eye mask over Sebek eyes would be best while making the excuse Sebek has sensitive eyes so people wound get suspicious. They would chose sun glasses but they’re see trough…….the end up choosing Contact lenses in the end.
Idia however, was the hardest to figure out. While it was easy to hide his teeth with a face mask, it’s incredibly hard to his his hair, since his hair is literally FIRE! It took them 20 different accessories to just decide what to do with his hair……the group had to hold him down to cut some of his hair off so they can hide the rest on a beanie(which they has to sneakily use magic on to make it fire proof, the group was surprised to learn that not a majority of clothing in Yuu world was fire proof)
So now that the group managed to hide Leona, Floyd, Idia, and Sebek non-human features, all left is to find actual outfits to fit in the crowd……….
…….which I’ll post about when I find out what their outfits would look like.

heyyy babydoll! i was just wondering how i could start dressing and doing my makeup in your aesthetic? i’ve always loved that style so much and you’re literally my dream! 💕💕
angellll!!! ☁️💕☁️
hmmm, this is such a good question. lemme see if i can wrap my head around my own style and aesthetic
i feel like my approach to style, to it’s essence, is taking oftentimes vintage silhouettes and upping the kitsch factor and making it girly and absurdly hyper feminine. i’m very drawn to the 60s and 70s. i love the big hair, the lots of liner with stacked lashes look, and babydoll dresses of the 60s. and i love the early 70s bc they took that look and made it slinkier and sexier and sleazier and dirtier. i love the female leads of giallo films and grindhouse films. i also love 90s and 00s fashion. like the 90s does the 60s is quite possibly my ultimate favorite. bc they took vintage silhouettes and made them brighter and more kitsch. like that’s the dream to me. think lady miss kier or the looks from the movie jawbreaker! i believe style and fashion should be fun. and i do treat it like a game of dress up. and i love pop culture and just exaggerating fashion. as i said, i looove over the top absurdly hyper feminine looks!
so what i look for when shopping? um does it come in pink? lol! but i do love pastels and candy colored garments. i like ruffles and frilly details. things that lean super girlish. and i pay attention to silhouette. bc i like to play around in different decades and i think that’s important. i’ll occasionally look for something a little moodier and darker bc sometimes i feel a little moodier and darker. but i’m a libra rising through and through and if i’m not a valley of the dolls wannabe? i wanna look like your best friend’s cool older fashion forward sister. ya know?
as a fat girl. i’ve had to rely heavily on makeup, hair, and accessories. so i love wearing ribbons bc they’re easy and sweet and make quite a statement. i love hair barrettes! like anything rhinestoned! fun shapes like hearts and butterflies! so cute! i also like to lean into my own culture. as a latina, i love a gold nameplate necklace and wearing hoops. as for makeup, i love sparkly and pastel eyeshadow and lashes and blush and gloss! i don’t feel quite me without it! and i love using vintage makeup looks as inspiration and modernizing them in a kitschy way. and for hair, im like full 60s/70s or like bridget marquardt from the girls next door. there is no in between lol. just kidding there is. i do branch out into other decades. but that is my wheel house tbh.
umm where do i shop? i like to thrift (head to your lingerie sleepwear section right NOW bc that’s where the cutest things hide i swear), i know they kinda suck but dollskill has really been a place that i’ve found some of my most favorite pieces. i still do forever 21 and torrid (for pants and shoes), unique vintage is great, shopcider, the wild fable line from target. i’ve lucked out with some things at fashion nova. like i said not the most ideal places to support, but some of the few options i’ve had as a fat person. but u can shop anywhere. just remember vintage silhouettes, flirty colors, girly details, and kitsch! that’s me lol
this is all over the place. i may make a youtube video in the future discussing more in depth about my style inspirations and how i shop and stuff bc this is a lot to unpack. but i hope this can serve as some type of guide into not only my own style but how you can go about curating your own. i genuinely just borrow from things i like and find cute and then try to make it my own. how can this fit into my current style? i don’t do too many basics anymore. like i think that’s the smart thing to do. like build a closet full of versatile garments. but it’s not true to me. i like statement pieces. i like being over the top. i’m there’s no such thing as being overdressed in my world lol.
good luck angel, i hope this all made sense! and if u have any more questions or want me to elaborate more, just lemme know! ☁️💕🍒🎀⛓☁️

Nari's Style, Phone, and Bedroom
── Daily
She loves bright and colourful clothes - you'll rarely see her wearing all black.
Her style is very cute and a bit kidcore.
She loves wearing short skirts/shorts with oversized tops.
She has lots of colourful shoes because she likes to colour coordinate her outfits.
── Airport
A comfier version of her daily style.
She wears more sweatpants/sweatshorts and hoodies here, but she's not as casual as Aina.
Her hair is always braided when on flights.
── Practice
Cropped t-shirts and sweats.
It's still very colourful but not as cute as her daily/airport fashion.
She often wears her shirt on one shoulder when she gets hot.
── Sleepwear
Character pj sets!!
She wishes she could shop in the kids' section. :'(
She also braids her hair for bedtime.
── Body Mods
She has 8 piercings (2 helixes on her left ear and 3 lobes on both).
She has two small tattoos and would get more.
She got her first tattoo when her brother turned 18 (she was 20), and it is 'no. 1/2' written near her right elbow to match her brother. She got it because she's very close to her brother.
Her second tattoo (21) is 'youth' written on her left outer ankle. She got it because she wants to stay 'youthful' forever, regardless of her age.
── Accessories
She wears a lot of cute hair accessories like clips and headbands.
She occasionally wears arm/leg warmers with her outfits.
She's always wearing lots of necklaces, earrings, and bracelets, and she doesn’t have a preference for gold or silver.
A lot of her accessories have cute characters on them.
── Phone
Her phone is the iPhone 13 pro in silver.
(She really wanted the pink, but 13 pros don't come in that colour).
She has like 10 different cases that she uses rotationally.
Her lockscreen is a baby photo of her and her brother.
Her homescreen is a picture of her with her mum.
── Bedroom
Her room isn't as colourful as you'd expect. It's all white, and she has no posters or paintings.
She has a desk with a computer for all of her geek-tivities.
She only has one plush on her bed, which is actually her baby plushy, and it's a white bunny.

WHAT’S FASHION?
Fashion refers to the latest and popular styles of clothing, hair, decorations or behavior. Fashion has its associations with socio-psychological aspects that are quite intricate and multifaceted. The term fashion is used interchangeably to describe the creation of clothing , footwear , accessories, cosmetics and jewellery of different cultural aesthetics and their mix . Although fashion is loved by everyone it still has adverse effects on people as well as environment. Therefore by changing our habits, choices we can contribute towards the betterment of the society. One of these aspects can be SUSTAINABLE FASHION
SUSTAINABLE FASHION
Sustainable fashion is a way in which brands create clothing that helps us reduce the bad impact on environment caused by fashion. Sustainable fashion is a great way to look stylish while also taking care of the environment. It is a fashion that is ethically made and is comparatively environment friendly . as much as it sounds simple , sustainable fashion results in more overheads that can reduce profit margins. For the fashion industry to become sustainable we as a buyer need to be ready to pay more and retain from buying brands that have no regards for the environment
BRANDS THAT FOLLOW SUSTAINABLE FASHION :
There are several brands that follow sustainable fashion practices or are starting to do so some of these popular brands are patagonia, Reformation, Eileen fisher . Some popular Indian sustainable brands include BUNA, DOODLAGE, UPASNA, ANOKHI and PERO, FABINDIA.
ABOUT ANOKHI: Anokhi is a sustainable apparel brand that specializes in hand- block printing on textiles. It has a strong focus on sustainable and ethical practices. They use natural materials like cotton and linen. They also have a recycling program where customers can exchange their old Anokhi products for discounts on new one.
HOW A BRAND CAN BE SUSTAINABLE?
Sustainable branding is important. For a brand to be sustainable the materials used can be natural fibres that does not hurt the environment. The packaging should be more environmentally friendly. Considering a remote working environment would help a lot in reducing pollution. Usage of nature dyes would help a lot too.
HAND CRAFTED FASHION AND HANDICRAFTS
Handcrafted fashion refers to clothing, accessories or products that are made by skilled artisan or labour using traditional techniques and craftsmanship . it celebrates the artistry and uniqueness of handmade items. These pieces often showcase intricate details and reflect rich cultural heritage pf different regions. This fashion category is often sustainable as well as ethical . It is entirely made by hand . spme examples include FABINDIA, JAYPORE, TJORI, GLOBALDESI, INDUS PEOPLE and many more . These brands specialize in showcasing traditional indian handicrafts like block printing, hand embroidery, zari , aari and many more . they work closely with skilled labour across the country to bring their craftsmanship to a wider audience
TREND SPOTTING
For the trend spotting we were asked to spot for the clothes that are currently in trend , for this we went to a field trip to mall where we explored brands like forever 21, And, global desi , sketchers , max , globus and shoppers stop
COLOURS : Shades of blue like cobalt blue was very common in every store from kids to adult this blue has captured the fashion industry . This colour is completely genderless allowing for a wide customer group to experiment with the hue and make it their own . Other colours in trend were neon pink and green
BOTTOMWEAR: cargo pants are surely in trend every where round the globe and hence the brands were filled with various colours of cargos covering women, men as well as children. As we all are aware denims never go out of style so there were wide leg denim pants with funky prints . There were denim dungree and jumpers as well.
WINTER WEAR : the winter wear this year showed a lot of changes . There were less hoodies and jackets and more of cardigans and sweaters in oversized fit.
TOPS AND DRESSES : printed crop tops and dresses were spotted in almost every western store. Floral prints, checks and polka dots have conquered the fashion society once again. Co ord sets are also very in trend right now from woolen to polyester they were available in every fabric.
ETHNIC : organza , zari and velvet can be spotted very easily.

Forever 21 x Bunny’s Bae Bar is a Fashion and Beauty Oasis
Photographer: Down To Be Artsy @dtba_
Bunny’s Bae Bar founder and social media star Bunny Zingler teamed up with Forever 21 to welcome Rolling Loud guests to a beauty and fashion oasis on festival grounds. The Forever 21 x Bunny’s Bae Bar on-site festival activation is a one-stop-glam-shop with everything fans at Rolling Loud need to refresh and elevate their festival looks, including shoppable Forever 21 x Rolling Loud Miami merchandise, hair extensions, accessories, biodegradable glitter makeovers, beauty touch ups, as well as Insta-worthy photo opportunities and unique giveaways.
"I'm so excited to bring our second Forever 21 x Rolling Loud collection home to Miami. As Rolling Loud's original and flagship festival, I know how our Miami fans turn out their looks, so we wanted to pay homage to the city – keeping it bright and fun, while still being able to keep cool in the heat! I hope this collection will continue to inspire others to be bold, have fun and express themselves through fashion." - Bunny Zingler, Founder & Creator of Bunny’s Bae Bar.
I had the pleasure of stopping in at both of Bunny's Bae Bar at Rolling Loud. She had an activation in both GA and VIP sections of the festival grounds. Both activations were really cute, the one in GA was positioned next to the Ferris Wheel and multiple food pop ups. The one in VIP was located next to the main stage. Both activations were vibrant and the team members were very welcoming. I received great service from the make up team and observed the hair stylists making beautiful braids and adding the cutest bedazzles on many curious customers.
This activation was truly a glam oasis, they had everything you needed! More than a salon for hair and makeup, Bunny's Bae Bar also carried the limited-edition Rolling Loud x Forever 21 collection. The limited-edition Forever 21 x Rolling Loud Miami collection, co-designed by Rolling Loud, embraces the sizzling summer heat with lightweight and trendy styles, inspired by Miami, with beachy graphics and vibrant colors, all adorned with the Rolling Loud logo. The collection features eleven styles, including a sexy pink bikini, stylish tube and tank tops, a breezy button- down with matching shorts, a racing-themed one-piece and a camouflage-inspired skirt, and the best-selling varsity jacket featured in the Forever 21 x Rolling Loud California collection. Sizes range from XS-L, at a price range between $24.99-$79.99.
I especially loved the face sparkles. They are very good quality and can be worn more than once. The glue is strong but it also comes off with ease. I was able to wear my sparkles throughout the festival, which really elevated the festival feeling. These are great for parties, concerts, and even every day if you're that kind of gurl!
FEATURE INTERVIEW
You are coloring the Forever 21 website with your beauty and grace! What is your favorite look off of the Rolling Loud collection?
Do I have to pick one?
No, you can pick all your favorites! But which would you say is your top one?
My top one, versatility wise, is probably the big jersey, because you can tie it up and crop it how you want to, it fits your body really nice, but also you can go to sleep in it! When I go home, after the show especially, the last thing I want to do is feel clothes on my body. I love to jump in the shower and throw on a big t-Shirt. I usually like to wear one of my husband's t-shirts, he has a big stack of t-shirts that I love to pick out of. The jersey is definitely my favorite from the collection, I love to throw it on, even if it's going to the supermarket, driving in my car, working or whatever - it's the most comfortable.
If I'm stepping out, I would definitely wear the bikini top. You can dress it up with leather or lace day or night. We also have a white crop top. It's giving Malibu Barbie x Racecar. It's definitely the crop I would wear on my day to day basis.
It's funny that you mention your husband because the next question is what inspired the looks for the collection. You mention you like his oversized T's.
Yes, on a day to day basis my attire would be one of my husband's large t-Shirts. I wear Rolling Loud merchandise all the time because we made so much cool stuff, and I love it. I throw on my big t-shirts, my hair in a bun and my Air Forces.
You said you're from Brooklyn, that's that New York City native in you
Haha, yeah, those are my daily shoes, Nikes are much easier to break into. I also needed to bring that sexyness and that taste and the right colors because this is Miami! I'm really happy with how the fans are perceiving it, they really like it!
What inspired Bunny’s Bae Bar?
My background is in beauty. I went to Queens Vocational High School, a trade school, my main thing I wanted to do was cosmetology so my sophomore year I started learning everything there is to know about cosmetology, like how strawberries can exfoliate your skin. I left that school and continued my education elsewhere and got my GED.
My sister is also a cosmetologist, she's a hairstylist. I grew up in an all women house hold. The first product I picked up was a concealer, not something traditional like mascara or an eyeliner. There's also the epiphany of the beauty standards and I grew up with that so I felt I had to hide my dark circles.
My mom was always that bitch, and it's only right I became that bitch too.
With the heat and humidity, what are some make up tips for glam that won’t feel too heavy and won’t sweat?
Definitely make up is not unbreakable, you know what I mean? We are only human, at the end of the day we are going to sweat, things are going to break apart, it happens to me all the time. To alleviate some of those things, I would say use a good setting spray and a lot of powder. When I talk about powder I don’t just mean your under eyes, add it to every single step. Think of dry shampoo in your hair, it sucks up all the oil. You need something to hold these oils.
I also find that a lot of powder on my face, with this heat and humidity, stops me from breaking out almost. Instead of my pores spewing out that oil and just sitting there and causing me to break out, I have something on top to absorb that. Having a good powder is essential, I like the Fenty Beauty one, Rihanna is queen and she knows what she’s doing.
If you’re going for a matte lip, definitely use a setting powder. I like a matte lip, I think it photographs well. A gloss also looks hydrated and juicy. Definitely powder yourself up, spray yourself down. If you want a setting spray use aerosol, not liquid.
Thank you for those tips!
And don’t forget the eyelash glue! It’s hot, if you’re sweating you’re gonna need a touch up. Unless you don’t care, you wanna rip them off and have a good time, I’ve done that way too many times.
You mentioned you went to school for beauty, who are some of your beauty or fashion influences?
Fashion inspirations for when dressing myself, I would have to say Gwen Stefani.
I see that!
Gwen Stefani, Joan Jett 80’s style, I love Joan Jett I grew up on Rock n Roll & OG Hip Hop. When I’m dressing I like to embody a little bit off the iconic R&B baddies, so like TLC, Monica, Destiny’s Child, Aliya, Beyonce. I really like some of the new models too, I like Bella Hadid, I like how she dresses. I also like Naomi Campbell.
I really think the only think that goes good with a cute outfit is confidence. If you’re wearing a cute ass outfit, but you got a dingy personality, you’re not cute on the inside, then it’s not gonna look cute. I need you to work on you, that’s the nest outfit. I tell that to everyone, self love is the best outfit.
Thank you for telling us your influences! Do you plan to make this Beauty Bar Station into an actual salon?
Maybe… one day, I mean I would love to. I’ve had such a great time putting together both activations, both in VIP and GA since 2019. Myself and my team, we have worked day in and day out, I draw everything from scratch, I draw it out exactly how I want to see it, I’m a very particular person. Then I give it over to the more technical side, they draw it out professionally and I’m able to say I like this color or that color, I make these flowers myself.
Oh, you’re a DIY girly?
I am! I curate the playlists too.
If you could bring anyone from the main stage to get glammed up in the Bae Bar, who would you love to see?
It would have to be a special guest. I love everyone that plays here for the show. Rihanna is a great supporter and she comes all the time with Rocky, so if I could bring anyone in the Bae Bar, at this moment, right now, I would love Rihanna! And I love Fenty beauty, a lot of my products are Fenty. I’ve loved Rihanna since I was a little girl.
What’s your zodiac, are you a taurus?
I am a taurus!
It’s giving that. What’s your rising?
Gemini.
Really, it’s not giving Gemini, it’s giving fire.
And my moon is Scorpio.
Water, oh okay, some balance. You’re definitely giving fire sign though. It’s Leo season though so you could just be tapped in.
Yeah I’m embodying it haha. And my husband is a Leo, I have a lot of Leo friends. I think it’s rubbing off on my shoulder.
Well thank you so much for sharing your tips, experiences and influences with Galore!
I’m super excited, thank you!
