it's such an odd feeling to watch a new game or show rise in popularity after seeing a earlier piece of it's development. yea you can make predictions but as an outsider you truly never know where a project will end up or how it will be received once completed.
and i don't mean this in a "i knew it b4 it was cool!!!" way but in a simultaneously motivating & daunting sort of way. the proof that dedication to an idea can eventually culminate into a story that brings people together, exists in unison with the knowledge that some projects don't quite become what they should, or that inevitably, unfortunately, some people will misconstrue a story's intention and take away the wrong ideas.
i saw AlphaBetaGamer's video of the Mouthwashing demo and was like "oh man this looks great i hope it gets the recognition it deserves". i remember being a young teen and checking out Vivienne Medrano's oc voice claims cause i thought the characters looked cool. and i’m still emotionally recovering from the devastation that was the Uzumaki anime….
all this to say it is both encouraging & worrying from the perspective of an artist to witness parts of a project's evolution and watch as people react to it, watch as communities are formed, and opinions change over time.
#martyn talks#haven't seen a full play of mouthwashing yet but it looks cool. from what i've heard ppl are being rlly mean to the only woman character#which i mean… the sky is blue & grass is green but still#also the heavily injured amputee character too... again no surprise there#for the record i have no real interest in any of vivzie's work. yea the animation is good & some of the designs are fun but that's it#idk the full extent of the controversy with her & her team so i can’t speak with any well-informed opinions but i just. don’t care#i should talk on here more often this is fun. i like talking
