"some jobs require the person working it to be attentive 24/7 for days, weeks or months at a time and most of those are essential and dangerous work" and "there are a lot of jobs that could stand to bump up pay and trim off a working day of the week or switch to the 4x10 structure" are both ideas that can coexist. not all work is created equal and some people will enjoy the hard, gritty stuff and some are overworked in an office that honestly does not need them to be there five days a week.
