Peter tapped his foot as he listened to the new group talent Walkman Records was planning to sign. Natasha discovered The Revengers after watching their videos online realizing they had a distinct refreshing sound people would love. Val, their lead singer, could tell a story through her voice while her bandmates helped bring the story to life. Thor, a tall not so handsome guy, strummed the guitar, Heimdall beat on the bass, and Bruce played the drums. They were a great group of individuals, and he couldn’t wait to see where their career would take them.
Bucky sat beside Peter, listening to Val’s voice as he adjusted a few marks on the soundboard. Once he was satisfied, he leaned back in his chair to enjoy the rest of the song. Peter mouthed along to Val’s lyrics, getting lost in her song when someone tapped him on the shoulder.
“Mantis, I told you not to interrupt us unless it’s an emergency. Buck and I are in the middle of a session,” Peter remarked, swinging his chair around to face her.
“Sorry, but there is someone on the phone saying it is an emergency and needs to speak with you,” Mantis replied in a soft voice, looking a little shaken.
“Is it the same boy from Queens who keeps calling coming up with random reasons to get us to sign his girlfriend?”
“No, it’s a woman. She threatened to break my arm if I don’t get you on the phone right away.”
“Okay, well that doesn’t narrow it down,” Peter sighed, running a hand down his face. “Did you get a name?”
“Gamora,” Mantis whispered in a frightened tone.
“Sounds like something she would do. I’ll take the call in my office.” He stood up, nudging Bucky to let him know he needed to take a call. Bucky nodded as Peter stepped out of the room. He hasn’t spoken to Gamora since you broke up with him years ago, so why would she be trying to contact him now? “Hey Gamora, still threatening people I hear. What’s it been like......seven years?”
“Yup. It gets things done faster, and it’s pretty handy when it comes to my job.”
“I heard you’re a big-time lawyer these days, but I can’t say I‘m not surprised.”
“Whatever, Peter. I didn’t call to make small talk with you.” Gamora paused. “I know you and YN didn’t end on the best of terms, but I promised her that if anything happened to her I would call and tell you…”
“Wait, hold on a second--” he interrupted her “--what happened to YN?”
“She was in an accident this morning.”
“Shit, is she okay?” Peter inquired, running his hand through his hair. “I mean, why would I care? We broke up years ago.”
“Okay, I'll try to believe that.” He could picture Gamora rolling her eyes through the phone. “I still haven’t heard anything, since she went into surgery. I don’t know if it’s a good thing or a bad thing at this point.” She cleared her throat. “Can you swing by the hospital? I need to talk to you about something important.”
“Ahhhh….what is this about? YN and I broke up ages ago. Besides, I’m at work, and I got a lot on my plate right now.”
“I wasn’t asking Peter, I’m telling you. It’s the least you could do after breaking my sister’s heart.”
“You had to go there, didn’t you,” Peter sighed, staring down at his desk in defeat. He should know by now that Gamora never loses a fight once she starts one. “Okay fine, I’ll be there in an hour.”
“Perfect. We’ll see you then, I’ll text you the details.”
They exchanged numbers before hanging up, and he went back into the recording studio. The room was quiet, and he noticed the empty sound booth. Nat must’ve taken them into her office to discuss the contract. He groaned, plopping down in the chair next to Bucky.
“Whoa man, you look like you’ve seen a ghost,” Bucky commented, taking in his appearance.
“I have to go meet a friend. Are you and Nat going to be fine without me for a couple of hours?”
“Yeah, it shouldn’t be a problem. Everything’s okay, man?” Bucky narrowed his eyes, moving his long hair out of his face.
“I hope so.”
_________
Peter pulled up to the hospital not sure what he was expecting. He wasn’t dating you anymore, but he didn’t want to see you hurt. He went up to the waiting room Gamora mentioned, but no one was there besides the nurses behind the desk.
“Excuse me,” the nurse at the station looked up at him with a warm smile. “Is YN LN out of surgery?”
She flipped through some files on her desk before clicking away on her computer. “She is still in surgery, but the doctors will be with you as soon as they can. You’re welcome to take a seat and wait. Are you family?”
“Yes,” he nodded without a second thought. He took a seat in the waiting room, running his hands through his hair and down his face. You were still in surgery, which could mean two things: everything was good and they were taking their time, or it was worse than they anticipated. He glanced at the television seeing a reporter speaking about the accident you were in. He read the subtitles as they drifted across the screen.
“On this mornings commute, a dump truck flew through a red light colliding into the side of a bus forcing it to topple over onto its side. We have gotten reports saying at least 12 are injured, but their conditions remain unknown at this time. As paramedics work hard to get everyone to safety, police are still investigating the cause of the accident. I will keep you updated on this story as it unfolds. Back to you in the studio…” Peter’s eyes turned away from the screen and back to the floor.
“Hello, Peter.” He glanced up to find Gamora with a little girl clutching onto her hand and eyeing him over. “You got here quick. Can we talk for a bit?”
“Yeah. Why else would I be here?”  He shrugged, standing up from his chair.
“Hey, Bug,” Gamora crouched down in front of the little girl with a caring smile on her face. “Would you be okay with hanging out over there for a little while?” She pointed to the children's playpen.
“Okay,” she nodded, ignoring the playpen to sit on one of the double-seated chairs. She pulled out an old green iPod and slipped in her earbuds as she tried to get comfortable. There was something about the little girl that seemed familiar to him, but he couldn’t put his finger on what it was.
“Someone finally snatched up the lawyer Gamora, who cared more about her career than settling down with some dude. Who’s the lucky guy?” A cocky smile spread across his face.
“She’s not mine. She’s YN’s daughter,” Gamora corrected him.
“Wait, what?” Peter’s smile faded away, leaving his mouth hanging open before he snapped it shut. “When….when did that happen?” He asked, widening his eyes at her.
“Little over 7 years ago.”
“She found a guy right after she left me. Awesome, like that doesn’t hurt my feeling a little bit.”
“Not exactly,” Gamora replied while Peter ignored her.
“It’s good though…..good for her. As long as she found someone who does right by her, and cares about her and makes her happy. I’m happy for her…..” he rambled on.
“Peter shut up.” His eyes snapped to hers as he shut his mouth. “YN’s had only one person in her life for the last 7 years, and it’s been her daughter.” He narrowed his eyes, not understanding where she was going with this. “Okay, I promised YN if anything ever happened to her I would tell you.”
“Tell me what?”
“The little girl over there--” she glanced in her direction “--is your daughter,” Gamora confessed in a hushed whisper, forcing Peter’s eyebrows to shoot up his forehead.
“What? No! No, no, no, no.” He shook his head not believing this. “It can't be! I would’ve known if YN was pregnant. She...she would’ve told me.”
“Really? Because the last I remember, you were halfway across the country when she found out.”
Gamora had him there. This must’ve all happened when he was at his internship in LA. How did he not know? Why didn’t he realize something was wrong? You always seemed so happy whenever he talked to you on the phone or through video chat.  “Why didn't she tell me?”
“YN tried to tell you, but she was afraid of how you’d react. Once she started to show, she knew she needed to tell you so she went to L.A. to surprise you and we both know how that turned out,” Gamora recalled, forcing Peter to clench his jaw. “I can’t tell you why she hasn’t told you because I don’t know why.” Gamora shrugged.
His eyes flickered over to the little girl swinging her legs back and forth in her seat. Her eyes connected with his for a split second before she focused back to her feet.  “What's her name?
“Meredith,” Gamora revealed, keeping a close eye on him.
Peter’s head snapped to her. “She named her after...after my mother.” Gamora nodded. He ran his hand through his hair, letting out a deep breath. “Why...um...do you..” He squeezed his eyes shut, trying to find the right words.
“YN wanted to name her after a strong woman,” Gamora filled in the blanks, making Peter crack a small smirk. “She’s a wonderful little girl. Strong headed and soft-hearted like her mother, but her quick-witted humor and love of music comes from her father.” He breathed a smirk, shaking his head at the little girl. “Can I ask you to do me a favor?”
“What’s the favor?”
“I’m due in court tomorrow, and I have to get caught up on what I missed today. Would you mind watching her tonight? I can't take her with me, and she’s too young to be left alone.”
“Ah...is this a good idea? She doesn’t even know me. Whatever happened to the whole stranger danger phase?”
“Trust me, you’re my last option.” Peter scoffed, forcing Gamora to roll her eyes. “If I could ask Nebula, I would, but she’s out of the country. I could ask a sitter, but Meredith hates them. She says they’re only in it for the money.”
He chuckled at her response. “Wait, hold on, you need me to take her tonight? Like tonight tonight? Right now.” He let out a deep breath as he glanced between Meredith and Gamora.
“What else would I mean by tonight? Meredith is smart for her age and if she needs anything she’ll ask for it.”
“Do you trust me to take care of her? I mean I once had a goldfish, and it died. I had a dog, but it ran away. This is an actual human being,” he emphasized, biting his lip to calm the nerves tingling in his stomach.
She rolled her eyes. “I don’t trust you after what you did to my sister, but you’re all I got at this point.”
“Psh.....that’s reassuring,” Peter scoffed, taking a deep breath to think it over.  “I have to move some things around, but she’s my daughter, and I should at least get to know her. Right?”
“That's the spirit.” Gamora patted him on the shoulder.
“Does she know who I am? Does she know anything about me?”
“YN’s told her some things, but as far as I know, she doesn’t know who you are.” He nodded, pushing his lips together in a tight line. Gamora walked over to Meredith with Peter in tow.  “Hey, Bug.” Gamora leaned down, placing a hand on Meredith’s arm as she took out her earbuds. “An old friend of your mom's is going to watch you tonight and tomorrow until I’m done with work. Do you think you could take care of him for me?”
Meredith peeked up at him through her eyelashes and scrunched up her face as she observed Peter. She was the spitting image of her mother, except for her eyes; she had his eyes. “I can’t promise anything, Gam,” she mumbled, shrugging her small shoulders.
“Hi, I'm Peter.” Peter held out his hand, and she reached up shaking it.
“I’m Meredith Quill.”
_________
Peter sat in the waiting room for what felt like hours. They still haven’t heard any news about your condition, and it was making him nervous. He didn’t want to lose you all over again especially after finding out he shared a daughter with you.  He had so many questions he wanted to ask you: Why didn’t you ever tell him? Did you think he would get upset and leave? Did you not think he was ready to be a father back then? What about today?
Peter flipped through a hospital magazine, keeping a close eye on Meredith. He still couldn’t get over the fact he had a daughter. She swung her legs back and forth in her chair as she mouthed along to the lyrics flowing through her earbuds. He smirked, knowing he did this at the studio all the time. Something in front of her caught her attention as a soft smile spread across her lips. Peter glanced in the direction to find a golden retriever.
Meredith shoved her iPod in her pocket as she approached the dog. He couldn’t hear the conversation between Meredith and the owner, but he suspected it was about petting his dog. The man nodded with a smile, and she knelt down scratching the dogs head as it licked her face. He couldn’t help but enjoy seeing her smile for the first time.
“Mer is more like you than you think,” Gamora commented, highlighting and reading through some documents a seat away from him.
“How so?”
“She loves animals and won’t leave the house without her iPod. Sure YN loves music, too, but the way Mer listens to it is a lot like you. She can be a real pain in the ass sometimes, too.”
“I think she gets that from her mother though,” he chuckled, making Gamora shake her head in amusement. Mer scratched the dogs head one last time before returning to her chair and her music.
“So, what has YN been up to?” Peter asked, scratching the scruff on his chin.
“Well--” she closed her file “--she’s been working at Potts of Honey for the past 4 years and…”
“Wow! What do they do there?”
“It’s a company helping parents and parents to be. They make all sorts of baby and toddler products, but they’re branching out to older age groups now, too. It’s a good company.” He nodded with pursed lips. “She also helps run a podcast for the company called Everyday's a Monday. It’s been a raging success and it’s helped the company’s brand grow.”
“What kind of podcast is it?”
“A parenting podcast,” Gamora informed, crossing her arms across her chest. “They talk about the latest trends in the industry and parents share their experiences hoping to help other parents. She loves her job.”
“I’m happy for her,” Peter nodded at the floor. “She always wanted to help people, and now she is. It’s great.”
“Her job keeps her busy when Mer isn’t,” she grinned at the little girl. “How’s business at Walkman Records?”
“Good. Natasha’s been finding a lot of great talent, and Bucky’s such an expert on the soundboard it’s insane. Wait, how did you even know where to find me?"
“My assistant found you,” Gamora confessed. “I learned a bit about your career, too. Like, how you and your two friends started Walkman Records six years ago after signing your first client. Somehow you became an overnight success and have been creating music with the best artists of our generation.”
“Hmm, your assistant really did her homework on me.”
“She wanted to keep her job. Excuse me for a second.” Peter nodded as Gamora got up and went to sit next to Mer. She smiled as Mer laid down using Gamora’s leg for a pillow and closed her eyes.
Peter pulled out his phone replying to a few emails while his thumb hovered over the podcast app. He wasn’t a huge podcast listener because he preferred listening to music rather than people talking. He bit his lip trying to figure out if he should download an episode to see what it was all about. He was curious. What did you talk about on there? Were you only the producer of the show or were you the host as well? Maybe he could hear your voice again or your addictive laugh. He shrugged as he started downloading the first couple episodes of Everyday’s a Monday.
_________
With still no word from the doctors, Peter could feel his stomach turning into knots, and his doubts started to set in. He didn’t want to think about it, but how could he not? He was about to assume the worst when two doctors dressed in scrubs stepped into the waiting room. Gamora noticed them and maneuvered herself out of Mer’s grasp, trying not to wake her. Peter shifted in his seat, so he could hear their conversation better.
“Hi, I’m Dr. Palmer, and this is my colleague Dr. Strange. YN is stable and out of surgery, but we wanted to tell you we did experience some complications.”
“What sort of complications?” Gamora asked, crossing her arms across her chest.
“At the scene, paramedics told us she was conscious and talking, insisting she was fine. Her only complaint was a massive headache and blurry vision. Medics brought her in right away but on the way she suffered a seizure. This forced us to run a quick CT scan, and we discovered a bleed in her brain. We believed she suffered a brain aneurysm from the accident, which led to her seizure. Once we found the bleed, we got her straight into surgery to repair it. This is when the complication during surgery set in causing her hemorrhaged and slip into a coma.”
“Is that normal? Is she going to be okay?” Gamora asked as Dr. Palmer looked to her colleague.
“It is hard to say at this time. We won’t know if she experienced any further damage mentally until she wakes up. Physically all she suffered was a couple of scrapes and bruises, but as of right now, all we can do is wait for her to wake up.”
“Thank you,” Gamora cleared her throat, earning a nod from both doctors. “Are we able to see her?”
“She is going to stay in recovery for the night and be monitored. We encourage you to go home to get some rest tonight so you will be a full 100% refreshed when you see her tomorrow,” Dr. Palmer reassured.
“Can we at least say goodbye to her before we go,” Mer piped up, sneaking up beside Gamora and grabbing her hand.  Dr. Palmer peered over at Dr. Strange, but he shook his head no.
“I’m guessing YN is your mother?” Dr. Palmer asked, kneeling down to her level. Meredith nodded. “I bet she would love to see you, too, but she is asleep right now. Your mom needs to rest so she can build her strength to keep up with you when she wakes up. I promise you’ll get to see her tomorrow.”
“I WANNA SEE HER NOW,” she cried, stomping back to the chair. She crossed her arms, staring hard at the table with her forehead scrunched up.
“Don’t worry I’ll talk to her,” Gamora told the doctors. “Thank you again.” The doctors smiled before walking away. Gamora let out a deep breath and pinched the bridge of her nose before going over to Meredith.
Gamora kneeled down in front of Mer setting her hands on each side of her. Peter could see her mouth moving, but he couldn’t make out the words she was saying. Meredith's arms loosen up around her, and she wiped her nose as Gamora pulled her into a quick hug. Gamora let go of her, and in an instant, she pulled her iPod back out of her pocket.
“What did you tell her,” Peter asked, staring at Mer who didn’t seem to be upset anymore.
“The truth.” Peter narrowed his eyes at her. “YN would want Mer to be strong and patient for her, and let the doctors do their job."
AN: Hope you enjoyed Part 1! Thanks for checking it out. This is a series I have been working on for some time. I am not much for the romantic type, but hopefully, I will be able to pull this off. I would love to hear what you all think so far and any theories on what is going to happen next!

Starmora 7: to shut them up :)
soo, this… escalated beyond just the prompt a little bit, and ended up on a whole journey into space tinder (thanks, james gunn’s twitter), and…. i don’t know. special shoutout to @lareina1917, who requested someone write about this, and to @julies-andrews and @peterjsonquills for some of the ideas that made this possible.
(and since i got this prompt a couple of times, i’m definitely gonna write another one for it! you know that this is definitely their schtick)
also on ao3 here!
(and keep sending me ships + prompts from this list here!)
“I have found a new way to make friends,” Mantis says over her bowl of soup at dinner, blurting it out kind of out of the blue like she does most things.
“That’s great, Mantis,” Peter tells her from across the table, and he means it. He doesn’t know the specifics of most of her life, because he hasn’t asked and, frankly, he doesn’t want to (there’s just, you know, too much about Ego and everything else that he’d just rather not think about for his own freaking peace of mind), but it’s obvious that it’d been totally lonely, and they’re all the first thing she’s had that have ever remotely resembled friends, and –
Yeah. Friends are great. Really great.
Encouraged, Mantis bobs her head enthusiastically in a nod, and then does it again, and then again. “Yes. It is called Kynd-ler.”
The soup from his spoonful is already, like, inside his mouth, and he swallows down the whole thing at once and coughs.
So, yeah, not to state the obvious, but he hasn’t thought about Kynd-ler in a while – had actually kind of forgotten about it, right up until about this exact second, honestly. There’s been the whole Guardians of the Galaxy thing, the whole… new kind of serious relationship forming with the greatest person in the universe thing, and it hits him, right now, like a whole ten tons of bricks, that there’s some stuff that’s still out there that he definitely doesn’t want to be out there. That’s….
Shit.
He clears his throat quietly, and swallows. Gets another spoonful of soup, and swallows that, too. This’ll totally just blow over if he just smiles and nods and doesn’t say anything about it so he can go and get rid of the evidence later, right?
He should know by now that these things never go the way he wants them to.
“Ain’t that the place for the freaky people?” Rocket asks over the rim of the mug he’s holding. “Like, the people who wanna get freaky? I don’t think you wanna be there unless you want some freaky friends.”
Mantis scoffs. “How can it be freaky if Peter is on there?” It’s super earnest, the way she takes up for him in pretty much every situation, and usually, he’s flattered, definitely flattered, but right now? Right now he just wants her to stop talking and never say another word ever again. He gestures wildly in her direction, mouths a no no no – to no avail. “But I do not understand, Peter. Why do you want people to think you are bad? You are a very good person.”
And that’s when Peter just lets his forehead collide with the table, because he doesn’t want to look at anything, and there’s just nowhere else for it to go.
“You’ve gotta be kidding me.” He hears Rocket slap the mug down onto the table, and figures that his next move is to swipe the datapad out of Mantis’s hands and peer down at the screen, judging by the way Mantis protests. “‘Badass legendary outlaw.’ Quill, you should know better than to try to sell yourself with false advertising. That’s never worked out well for anybody.” A pause before the inevitable worst comes (as Peter cringes against the table): “‘Swipe right if you wanna know how bad I can be.’”
Then, like a total asshole, Rocket doubles over in a fit of laughter, and Peter looks up for a second to find that it’s with the whole tears coming out of his eyes routine and everything.
“Who’s bad?” Drax asks as he pokes his head out from the galley, pot in one hand and knife in the other. “I will cut them with this knife.”
“No, no, no. This –” Rocket just gestures, still laughing too hard to get any more actual words out. And about two seconds after Drax comes over, he’s also laughing, practically loud enough to shake the whole goddamn ship. And then Mantis starts laughing just because Rocket and Drax are, and then in the commotion there’s an “I am Groot?” as Groot climbs up on the table to get a better look at what everyone’s laughing at, never wanting to be excluded from anything, and –
“Where’d you get that picture from, Quill? Up your ass?”
There’s a whole other round of laughter that could about double shake the ship, and that’s when Peter decides he’s had enough. Not even bothering to look behind him (honestly, he’d rather not know any other reactions from this), he stands up from his chair and stalks down the corridor to his quarters in a huff – yeah, like a child, sure, but what else was he going to do, sit there and listen to that? Be the butt of their stupid joke for the whole night?
He loves having this family in his life, he really does, but at the moment? He kind of hates them.
—-
It’s about five, maybe ten minutes later (he hasn’t kept track very well) when he hears footsteps come through the doorway of the bedroom, and then feels part of the bed sink down beside him. He doesn’t have to look – which he doesn’t, occupying himself with pulling threads from the blanket under him – to know that it’s Gamora.
She doesn’t say anything to him at first, and in that silence, he can still hear everyone else laughing off down the corridor. God, how long is it going to be before he lives this down? Weeks? A month? More than that? Knowing Rocket, it’s probably going to be literal forever, and he’s not looking forward to the next days he has to face with this hanging over him. He’ll just have to, what, eat by himself for the foreseeable future? Avoid especially Rocket at all costs?
Gamora’s voice, totally dry in tone, cuts into his thoughts and stops these half-assed plans in their tracks. “I just want to know why I haven’t seen it.”
He looks up from his mindless project with the blanket threads and at her. “Seen what?”
“How bad you can be.”
Okay, so. That really nice thought he’d had for about two seconds that maybe he could totally avoid it in here is now thoroughly, five-hundred percent, obliterated. He lets out a long breath, and drops his eyes down for a moment before looking back up again. “Look, Gamora, this is from before I even met you. You know what I did – met people, hooked up, got out before the next morning, that whole thing. Honestly, trust me, I haven’t looked at it or even thought about it in….”
Wait.
“Wait.” He squints a little, focusing on her face really hard, and there it is, that not-even-half-a-smile that wouldn’t be noticeable to pretty much anyone else, but he knows means: “You’re totally laughing at me, too.” And, yep, he’s rewarded with an actual obvious smile for his absolutely genius detective work, the kind that lights up her whole face. Which he loves, and he could look at all day if she let him, except: “That’s rude, that’s seriously rude, I’d never laugh at you if our situations were reversed, do you know how embarrassed I was in –”
He’ll never be able to finish that thought, because that’s when her lips find his and he, frankly, couldn’t give a single shit about anything else. It’s a tried and true tactic of hers to get him to shut up, and he totally knows it, but he keeps letting it happen because – well, why wouldn’t he? As far as he’s concerned, this could happen twenty times an hour, and he’d be completely fine.
“You should delete it, though,” she tells him as she pulls away a moment later. “That picture isn’t flattering.”
Ouch. “Hey, I worked hard on that picture. It was super cool.” By the way she raises her brow at him, it’s obvious that she doesn’t agree, and nothing he says will ever convince her otherwise. “But yeah, you’re right, it’s gotta be gone. First thing in the morning.” He lets the blanket threads slip from his fingers, uses those fingers instead to brush some strands of hair away from her face. “I don’t even need it anymore, anyway. Not when I’ve got the actual greatest person in the universe here, and she can kiss me anytime she wants.”
“Hm,” Gamora hums noncommittally, lips pressed together. “Get rid of that terrible picture, and I’ll think about it.”
“Okay, was it really that bad? I mean, I totally got the best angle, and it’s a cool pose that makes me look super awesome, and –”
He definitely doesn’t mind when he finds himself cut off for the second time.

Feed Desire PART 2 Summary: Peter has been avoiding Y/N while preparing for the upcoming battle with Thanos. Y/N thinks it's because he just doesn't like her, however his reasons run much deeper than she'd ever imagine. A simple miscommunication on Drax's part now puts Peter in a very awkward position, live with the fear of becoming his father or act on desire. Warnings: Cursing and mild fluff. A/N::The first chapter was horrible and I apologize. I haven't written in a while so I'm a bit rusty. Also I'm still doing this on my phone so I'm sorry if there are mistakes. Word count::2473 *Part 2* It had been hours since Drax bluntly put the idea into Y/N's head that Peter found her repulsive. A few hours of Peter trying to explain himself to Natasha, explaining how his father hopped from planet to planet wooing women and disappearing never to come back. He explained how he watched his mother pine away daily after his father just for him to find out years later that his father was in fact the, as Peter put it, "king of all dick-heads". He explained in great detail that he had never been with a Terran woman before and how Y/N took his breath away the moment he saw her. How that if the events with his father hadn't just occurred he'd be chasing her and have no guilt about wooing her and leaving Earth the moment this war was over. Peter had broken hundreds of hearts across the galaxy and never once thought about how it must've felt when he'd just up a leave. Yet when he saw Y/N, he knew he wanted her. He wanted her so badly but he swore that his man-whoring days were over so to him the easiest way to not be tempted was to avoid Y/N and not let himself get too close. Natasha was stunned. She had put it all together that Y/N was haboring unknown feelings for the handsome space outlaw but she honestly never thought that Peter's distant act was him just trying to protect her friend's feelings from himself. It was a stupid notion on his part to just avoid her but a part of her wanted to make 'aw' sounds and tease the two endlessly about their secret crushes on each other. "Peter, that'd be really sweet if it wasn't so stupid." Nat gave Peter a huge toothy grin after he had rambled on while sitting on the edge of her bed with his head in his hands. "You went about this horribly." The redhead added unable to stop the chuckle from escaping her lips. Groaning, Peter knotted his fingers into his redish-brown hair. "I know, trust me I know. It's been driving me crazy 'cause she's so damn /nice/." "Yeah she is." Natasha nodded scooting up so she was perched next to Peter on the edge of the bed. "She's nice, too nice." Natasha's smile fell as she let Peter's words sink into her mind, the longer she thought about the more she understood his reasoning. "Listen, Peter," she started while placing a gentle hand on the man's shoulder, "you don't have to 'woo her' or chase her. Just, I dunno, be her friend. Y/N is a very passionate person, she is one-hundred percent devoted to her friends. Once you develop any type of friendship or relationship with her, you're stuck with her for life." Natasha knew her friend. She knew how Y/N was, how if she let Peter into her heart, that it would crush her the day he told her he would be leaving. Y/N loved so deeply that it worried Natasha anytime a man got close to her, even Steve or Bucky. To Natasha, Y/N was precious and she wanted desperately to protect her. In her mind, Natasha was the mother hen and Y/N and Wanda were her chicks. Peter glanced up at the redhead who seemed far away in thought. It didn't take him long to register that these 'Avengers' were a family, much like he and his fellow 'Guardians'. Apparently they were a close family and Peter knew he had to fix the mess he started and that Drax escalated with his drama. This was a family he definitely didn't get on the bad side of. Especially with two huge super soldiers lurking about, and not forgetting the God. "I should go talk to her." He whispered more to himself, to try and give himself a slight boost of confidence. Mentally he was telling himself that explaining this would be a piece of cake. Hell, he had talked his way out of situations that would've gotten him murdered, he could smooth over Drax's mistake. "Yeah." Natasha give him a light shove as he stood up before giving two thumbs up. "Good luck, Star-Prince." He cringed at the popular used mock name he had been given. "Star-*Lord*." He corrected for about the millionth time. "You'll graduate to Lord when you patch things up with my friend." The redhead chuckled before kicking back on her bed. ****** It took Peter forever but he finally found Y/N in the recreation room, her eyes glued to the gaming screen in front of her. Peter stopped in the doorway and just watched her for a long moment as she played and was clearly very focused on the Pac-Man game in front of her. Peter had to hand it Stark, he spared no expense when it came to fun factor of his compound. He had been sure he'd never see another classic Pac-Man arcade machine ever again yet here, Stark had not only Pac-Man but Galaga, Super Mario Brothers and many others that Peter always loved playing in his younger days. Their first day on earth, Peter spent the whole night in this room. Listening to music and playing all these wonderful games. He only left because Gamora had to pretty much drag him out by his ear. He leaned up against the door frame and folded his arms across his chest, a small smile daring to grace his features as he watched Y/N play the game. He took in how her eyes narrowed every time one of the ghosts got close. How her tongue was poking out just a bit in concentration. He even watched as her shoulders tensed each time she moved the joystick or pushed a button on the console. He was gawking, he knew he was but something about a woman who was so into her arcade games got him hot and bothered. Maybe it was because anytime he spoke of these games other women would look at him crazy. Yet here Y/N was, oblivious to the world around her while being completely sucked into this game that was his absolute favorite. "Shit." She cursed under her breath as the ghosts cornered Pac-Man, leaving her no where else to go. Peter chuckled once the familiar music of Pac-Man losing filled the room. "I hate those damn ghosts." Peter finally announced his presence causing Y/N to jump and quickly whip her head around towards Peter. With wide eyes, Y/N shifted nervously and quickly tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "I didn't know anyone was here." She finally spoke up. "I figured everyone would be in bed by now." Peter pushed himself off the door frame and deeper into the room. "Most are, I just couldn't sleep." He lied. "So you like Pac-Man?" This was a nice ice breaker, or so he thought. Something to strike up a conversation before blurting out his apology on Drax's behalf. Y/N's brow shot up as Peter got closer. He never once tried to speak to her yet now here he was, alone with her trying to get her to talk about video games? "Uh, yeah. I pretty much begged Tony for these." She answered with a sharp nod of her head before turning back towards the game. "I saw someone beat my high score so I was trying to get my name back up there." This caused Peter to give a cocky smirk as he leaned up against the machine beside her, his eyes looking fondly on the high scores list. Number one, P.J.Q. "Yeah, sorry 'bout that. I didn't know that was your high score." He spoke with a chuckle. "You? You're P.J.Q?" Y/N snapped her eyes over to him in slight disbelief. "I thought Tony reset the scores just to mess with me." She admitted with a blush. "Peter Jason Quill, it wouldn't let me put Star-Lord in so..." Peter felt his body relax when the small smile threatened to appear on her lips. Her eyes still focused on the game. "You should talk to Tony 'bout that. I'm sure he could find a way to allow Star-Lord in there." "Shit, every game in here would have my name on it. It'd be awesome." A chuckle escaped his lips as he also turned his gaze on the gaming screen, watching with admiration as she skillfully played the game. "Listen, I was actually looking for you," he started with a soft voice, "about earlier...what Drax said--" "It's fine." She cut him off, her small smile disappearing and her body tensing slightly. "No it's not." Peter shook his head, he obviously threw her off her game because he watched as the blue ghost caught up with Pac-Man, thus ending the game a second time. "Drax is, well, he's blunt and very outspoken. Especially when he thinks he's right." Y/N sighed, pulling herself away from the game and quickly wandered over towards the couch where Groot laid asleep on a comfy blue throw pillow. "It doesn't matter. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion." Peter watched with a frown as she carefully scooped up Groot and cradled him carefully in the crook of her arm being very careful not to wake him. "But he was wrong." Peter stubbornly walked after her as she made for the exit. "I never said I found you repulsive. I don't know where in the hell he got that from." Y/N still felt her stomach twisting up into knots as she tried to scurry away from Peter. She had spent the whole afternoon looking in the mirror and crying. Her self esteem had taken a massive blow and her mind had convinced her that she was in fact repulsive as Drax had said, even though Groot stayed by her side all afternoon speaking his only know words in hopes of trying to cheer her up. "It doesn't matter. We can just drop it." She whispered over her shoulder as she made her way towards her room, Peter still hot on her heels. All she wanted to do was hide away and forget today ever happened. Silently she cursed herself for even bringing the subject up. Had she kept her mouth shut everything would've been normal and fine. Peter would still be avoiding her, not chasing her down the halls and she'd go back to suffering in silence. "It matters!" Peter snapped in a hushed tone as not to wake Groot. He reached out and grabbed Y/N by the shoulders and spun her around so she would be facing him. Also in an attempt to keep her from wiggling away he pressed her back against the door to her room, his fingers pressing lightly into her bare shoulders, the thin straps of her tank top rubbing lightly against his palms. "It matters to me because he was wrong. He couldn't have been more wrong." Peter's voice softened and his eyes were pleading. "Just, please let me explain." Y/N grunted when she felt the hard, cold wood of the door press into her back. Her breathing even seemed to hitch as Peter's eyes bore down into hers. Their current position made Y/N realize just how tall Peter actually was and how he easily towered of her. She couldn't blink or even form words right now but she could hear the sincerity in his voice. This apparently really was him wanting to explain, not Gamora or Nat forcing him to apologize or suffer bodily harm. Taking a deep breath, Y/N finally gave in, nodding her head before glancing down at the still deep sleeping toddler tree in her arms. "Okay." She nodded as Peter finally released her arms and took a step back. "Just, come in. I'm gonna go put Groot down on my bed and then we'll talk." Turning her back to Peter, Y/N opened her door and stepped inside, flicking on the lights. Peter stepped in after her, quietly closing the door behind him. Once inside he took a good look around the room, his jaw dropping slightly in awe as he glanced around. On her walls were old movie posters from the 80s. Ghostbusters, Aliens, Breakfast Club, Back To The Future, Indiana Jones and of course, one of his favorites, Star Wars. But not just any Star Wars, Empire. "Holy shit." He muttered as she stepped out of the living area into a room that was off to the left, clear that was the bedroom. While he was alone, Peter took this opportunity to snoop. Of course he headed right for the movie collection that took up an entire bookcase next to the flat screen TV. He smiled to himself seeing the movies were arranged genre. He noticed that Y/N held a great fascination for Science Fiction and space themed movies. He also noted there weren't very many "chick flicks" on this bookcase. He was about to pull away and go sit himself on her couch when a case on the TV stand caught his attention. "No fucking way." He breathed out quick grabbed up the case and his green eyes sparkled in excitement. "What?" Y/N asked as she walked back in the room to see Peter clutching the DVD case. "You like ThunderCats?" "The real question is, who /*doesn't*/ like ThunderCats?" Peter asked in excitement. "Shit, I used to watch this show every damn day when I was a kid. I can't believe you have a box set. Is this, holy hell it is!" Peter beamed flipping the case over to read the back. "This is every episode! Can we watch this?" He asked in a child like manner, his eyes quickly darting over to Y/N who was watching him with an amused grin on her face. Both her hands resting lazily on her hips. "Everyone here makes fun of me for watching this show." She chuckled walking over towards Peter and the TV. "It'd be nice to actually watch the show with someone who likes it as much as I do." She nodded picking up the DVD remote and taking the box set from Peter. Carefully she loaded the first disk into the player before heading over to the couch. Peter pumped his fist happily and raced for the couch. He ripped off his jacket and laid it over the arm of the couch before flopping himself down. For a moment he felt like a kid again and completely forgot why he was in her room to begin with. He was there to explain, not watch cartoons. Oh well, he thought, this would hopefully make things a little less awkward when he did explain because hopefully they'd be more relaxed around each other and maybe this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship. *** Tags: @vic394 Tags are open.
