I feel that as a fandom we don't do enough with the fact that the chantry actually has their own st. sebastian, right down to dying from being shot full of arrows and having inappropriately sexy art made of him to depict this over the ages. the parallels seem clear enough that I'm pretty sure the real life reference is 100% deliberate haha. (his name is hector, he was the lord of nevarra and one of andraste's most loyal followers and she was apparently in nevarra city under his protection when maferath pulled his whole thing and it was in trying to save her that hector got the full pin cushion treatment😬 you learn about this from a landmark just over the repaired bridge in emprise du lion, by a statue that does in fact seem to lounge around with slutty intent in the snow. also very funny that hector seems more popular in that depiction among the orlesians than his own native nevarra. I suppose 'Come to wonderful Nevarra City, home of betrayal!' is a tough sell to have to put on the tourist posters)
ALSO even more indication as far as I'm concerned that nevarra in many ways is like. dutifully on paper but by no means enthusiastically andrastian and mostly set on getting to do their own goth thing in peace. you're telling me they have a wholeass saint on their hands IN the city connected to the grand necropolis and as far as I could tell there's not a single reference to him anywhere down there? the statue freak nation haven't seen fit to have statues of him everywhere in their most holy house of many mansions???? well alright then no one tell the divine i guess. (my suspicion is that there are a LOT of statues of him up in the city, since nevarra is famous for their statues of heroes and their ancestors. but I do think it says a lot that there has been no particular space left for him down in the necropolis, nor is there much said about the maker at all in their prayers or set phrases)
