Pls add in tags where you're from and what your take is!! I work in tourism and have noticed certain people seem taken aback or confused by this question in small talk
#for me - im 23 from central Scotland and to me it means 'where do you currently live?'#as in - if someone asked 'where are you from?' id say [parents' hometown] originally bc that implies where my origins are#but 'whereabouts dyou stay' id say aw just outside [city] cause thats where i currently live
