Kinda like what you’re doing but different- now I would totally give you more info on that except like- then it would give it away lol. All I really need help with is A.) how do you write Stanley as well as you do?! And B.) how do you normally start a story- I’ve been having a hard time with intros lately.

HI! HELLO! I'm so sorry I couldn't answer you right away, one bc I was so busy up until LEGIT JUST THIS VERY MOMENT, and two because I want to help anyway I can, and want my answer to actually be fleshed out!

Firstly, omg so sweet of you that you want my help <3 I'm so happy you reached out and SUPER excited to give you some insight! I encourage anyone who wants to write TO write, it's a great creative outlet (and also I love any and all Stan content hehe)- so:

A.) i. Stanley is based in my head off of my own fantastical characterization of him (which I'll get to in a moment), and also the character we know from the actual show OBVIOUSLY. I started by, of course, rewatching the show. Because I wanted to, and to also take note of his character in each episode. This consisted of getting some basic information about him from anything from his fear of heights to his terrible (great) sense of humor. The clear drive from Stanley is his deep love of family, and general familial bonds (Soos and Wendy). He takes "odd ones out" under his wing on the regular, because HE is an odd one out. People who don't ordinarily fit in are his bread and butter (and also his general sales pitch). He appreciates the oddities in people, in contrast to his brothers interest in ACTUAL oddities. He goes out of his way to keep these bonds, especially with these kids he's not-so-randomly taken under his wing (that he more than likely took in for the summer, trying to reconnect with family and therefore Ford in anyway he could). This tells me he's also a caring man, a weirdly desperate man, and more considerate than people on a surface level may give him credit for. Now this characterization maayyyy be a stretch but that's where the fun comes in!! YOU get to interpret these little things in any way you like, maybe he has a weird relationship with tangerines, maybe he can't keep eye contact on a date for a particular reason- and those situations can just flesh him out more!

ii. NOW the ""romantic"" side of things are of course skimmed from the romance I know from other media (and of course my own lovelife). I take this characterization of him, and find another characters I know and love to MAKE writing him in these situations easier- seeing as we do never see him IN these actual romantic stations (outside of the dating sim and that one failed date- WHICH can also play a role in how you write him romantically!) Stan reminds me of the suaveness and shyness of men in 90's romcoms: surprisingly well-meaning but stupidly flustered. I'd say Brenden Fraiser in his early romcom's come across like this or even Bill Pullman in While You Were Sleeping. It encompasses some of what I believe Stan to be in general: weirdly shy, unable to come out with it, flippantly sweet, sarcastic, and stupidly endearing. I also get general influence from more recent reference(s), the main one being Nick Miller from New Girl. I don't think I need to explain myself with that one. ALSO if you don't understand any of these references I apologize- but I very much encourage you to find your own references in ANY form of media! I even find myself inspired by art at times!

B.) Intro's are hard!! It feels like the hardest part at times. You need to hook the reader, engage them quickly, and have them come back curious!! I will reassure you with one thing: intro's do NOT have to be long! I'd encourage you to keep the intro sweet and simple with not tooooooo many details! don't over-explain to the reader, it may discourage them from continuing (in my opinion!). I take the "shoot first and ask questions later" approach. Throw the reader into a scene giving context clues to where in the story's timeline we are being thrown into. Flash forward and then back into the future! Start on an action scene- hell have the opening scene being two significant characters meeting! it's completely up to you, but I am reassuring you it doesn't have to be long, and DON'T make it too complicated! Complicate things later, grab the reader in the first chapter, and then explain some things later on! Let me also assure you: you do NOT have to write your story backwards, and you don't have to have a finite and "final" story ready to go. Have point A be the beginning and point B be the end and YOU make the trail from A to B!

I first have to say that since I’ve only played Botw, some of totk, and maybe half of twilight, idk the other Links except for how people write them in fanfics and LU, so if my reason for each one doesn’t make sense, sorry!

1. Twilight - calm country boy but won’t accept being taken advantage of, also deeply cares about his friends and family (of the Links, he reminds me most of one of my best friends)

2. Four - also calm, logical, in fanfics is usually the only one holding the group’s singular brain cell lol (I’m a very logical person as opposed to emotional)

3. Sky - mother of the group, very sweet and loving (reminds me of my other best friend, but both Sky and my best friend can be a little too serious bc of this trait, I like to make jokes and mess around sometimes)

4. Tears - I think he’s a little less chaotic than Wild, I say a LITTLE lol, but idk, he can drive things so that’d help with traveling because I don’t like walking too much, but seeing scenery while flying would be pretty cool

5. Hyrule - most of the fanfics portray him as a very shy timid follower, and while I don’t want someone to dominate me in r relationship, I also don’t want to dominate, I need to have someone who can take charge but doesn’t boss me around

6. Wild - kinda already explained this one, ik he also has horses we could ride but still

7. Legend - his sense of humor being sarcasm is the same as me, I love sarcasm, I once said to someone “my sarcasm makes up for the whole population”, but while r senses of humor would be the same, I can’t see us working that well in a relationship, his abrasiveness is a lot and I’d rather have someone who’s softer and can cuddle with me w/o having to pretend it’s the worst thing ever bc eww feelings

8. Warriors - ik he has a soft side but his very flirtatious and arrogant personality would absolutely clash w me, it would turn me off immediately

1 - sky (literally no matter what au) He's insanely caring about people that he's close to, but can also be pretty snarky and rude. He and I have pretty similar senses of humor plus he's really loyal and honest to people he wants to keep close. (also I see him the most as being ace and even if I hc the others as such it just fits him the best IMO and idk if I would want to date any more allos after my experiences fbvsbfbvs)

2 - Twilight soft! country! boy!!!!! He's loyal to a T and is just so warm cuddly and oh I do love him so - I think he'd be number one for compatibility if it wasn't for my fear of dogs lmao

6 - warriors So, this is more for canon and how other people see him rather than my own hcs (my hcs actually bumping him up from dead last surprisingly) he's usually shown as a playboy and knowing people in most places he goes while flirting with people to get things for reduced prices and I have pretty bad trust issues! I would wouldn't want to date him if he was showing interest in others while with me <3 also his arrogance would make me shutdown and not interact with him sdvsf

7 - four So while I don't mind being with someone shorter than me, I would like to be with someone a close height to mine whether that be a bit shorter or taller. the line is drawn when he barely makes it to my elbow when we're both standing. Plus I think our personalities simply match better to be friends rather than romantically, I could see myself being good friends with him - just no romance

8 - legend Idk I just don't think I would ever want to date him tbh, I see him as more compatible with a friend of mine and that's partly why too - I wouldn't want to nab him from her <3

i'll start from the fact that i'm the most predictable person ever cause if there are any tsun characters in a franchise, it's impossible for me not to kin them.

so, nayuta asahi.

nayuta is essentially like paralive's kanata (THIS IS DESTINY) and that includes being rude to everyone, having a constant pissed off face, zero social skills, anger issues and having faith in nothing but music. he's insufferable sometimes but hey, that's his charm <3 he has asthma and his dad (the biggest asshole ever) told him he's worthless cause he can't sing like that. he hates his dad for that and also cause he left him and his mother alone. he has trust issues because of it. i think he needs some friends (he will never admit he has them). oh he also has a soft spot for his cat nyankoutaro <3

his band is gyroaxia!! my fav guys ever. they invented metalcore i think. their dynamic is funny cause they argue 24/7 but they're lowkey a family yk. basically everyone in there is a nayuta simp except for reon (guitarist) who literally can't stand him. the others also admit he's insufferable but they all believe in the power of his music, hence the reason why no one leaves the band lol (even tho nayuta would throw anyone out if they're not good enough to "share" his music). no one dares to complain to nayuta apart from reon but at least ryo is pretty chill about it, he just gives him candies to shut him up LMAO (i also love him a normal amount). i also love the irl band a lot, their seiyuus are basically my best friends and they're chaotic af - here's a pic cause they just dropped it and i cried

here's a bit about nayuren (nayuta + ren) too. as i said, they're basically like kanallen. even tho ren is less invasive and more on the shy type of guy, he's still really passionate about music and wants to befriend everyone who thinks the same so he just annoys nayuta (lovingly). they're even in the same class at uni so nayuta can't literally ever have a moment of peace. btw nayuta said that ren's singing is the only thing that has ever moved him and he probably considers him at almost his level <3 so he basically loves him

Jungwon (FO)- *Gasp* not peace Jay??? Crazy!! I know lol but honestly foolish ones Jungwon has climbed his way up to number one for me. I just love his personality and attitude towards y/n vs literally anything else. He's the perfect mixture of a grumpy cat whose secretly the sweetest and a major green flag. His nonchalance + commitment towards the whole relationship is almost impressive.

2. Jay (Peace)- I had to... I'm sorry...I know. I talk about him wayyyyy too much but he will always have a special place in my heart. He was such a good guy both as a friend and as a partner. His idea to get Zoa out of the class and to leave Beomgyu alone was great! Also his overall care and attention to Y/N and making sure she didn't over do anything was sweet.

3. Heeseung (WHP)- This Hee will always have my heart along with Hee from The Second Choice. I just loved the whole concept of him getting interested in her from her annotations in her book and him doing everything he could to get her attention and for her to give him a chance. Also brownie points for him literally giving 0 fucks about Mama Kim and continuously showing Y/N that she deserves love and that she's amazing.

4. Sunghoon (Enchanted): My guy saw YN and immediately knew she was the one for him and despite being shy and unexperienced made sure to court her as properly as he could with a lil push from Jiminie ofc. I feel like the way you wrote him in this fic fit his personality sooo well.

5. Sunoo- I know he technically doesn't count as a male lead but I loved his character in so many of your fics (except see right through me... we don't talk about that sunoo). He really was one of the ultimate friends and helped so many plans play out and was always helping. Not to mention him knowing about everyone and everything helped a handful of times to get the main love interests to get together so shout out to sunoo. I would love to have a sunoo in real life.

Top 5 Couples:

FO Jungwon x Y/N- My new favorite couple (look away jay,y/n.. look away!). Their relationship is so cute and funny. The bickering is 10/10 old married couple vibes. I love how attentive he is to her and that he makes sure she takes care of herself well and supports her. I also whole hearted believe he went into this with the intention of them becoming official at some point with the way he always conveniently leaves out the "fake" when referring to her as his girlfriend. Y/N constantly having to put that statement out to remind herself kills me cause ngl I'd be head over heels for him too.

2. WHP Heeseung x Y/N- Like I said bad boy x book nerd reader will always get me. As a book nerd it's my kryptonite. Genuinely impressed with the balls/audacity he had the whole fic.

3. TSC Heeseung x Y/N- Im sorry, I can't let go of them man. They were just too cute and I like to think they happen in an alternate universe. He loved and respected and cared about her so much, even before they were truly friends and for the right reasons. I'd date TSC Hee anyday.

4. ICY Sunghoon x Y/N- I kinda liked the slight angst and back and forth between these two. They didn't automatically fall in love but the also didn't outright despise or hate each other. Kinda had more of an indifference turned to "i kinda enjoy them" to "omg I love them??".

5. FITYMI Jimin x Seulgi- Kinda random but I love Jimin's chaotic ass and their relationship is kinda cute. I like how he admits he kinda needs her to rein him in but also in the most chaotic good way slightly misbehaves or doesn't listen because he wants to help. I do also love Yeji and Beomgyu though.

Top 5 Friend Groups:

TSC Sunoo, YN, and Kazuha- Those two gave 0 fucks about protecting their girl and were not afraid to call Hye Won out every. single. time. Even Eunchae dropping the honorifics was iconic.

2. Peace Yeji, Beomgyu, YN, Jay- Were a great group, it was so nice to see them work together or plan things together as a group. Also loved how supportive they were of each others relationships and friendships. I feel like you don't always see that.

3. Foolish Ones Jungwon's group- they are the definition of chaotic good. They'll jokingly dog on him but genuinely care about him and will always have his back as shown with them bringing their parents to help with the fundraising. I also love that the few concerns Jungwon expresses they take him seriously and are there to support/help him if needed and that they also seem to care a lot about Y/N.

4. FITYMI Namjin x YN- They really are her family/ big brothers and I love how much they adore and respect her while also doing everything they can to let her be an adult but be like "youre stubborn, you need rest, go home" and making sure to follow through and ensure she in fact rests.

5. SRTM Ryujin x YN- Love me a good girl friendship where its healthy and both people are sweet to each other. I also love how Ryujin was giving solid advice to Heeseung and trying to help without fully meddling but also was quick to call out anyone being mean to YN cough cough *sunhoonke* in different increments

Both fics are going great so far! I've been trying my best to comment on the chapters when I get a chance to read them. I will admit I'm enjoying Foolish Ones a bit more but I think it's cause I enjoy the grumpy x sunshine theme. 3. I love Wrecking Her Plans Heeseung as much as you do, so I'm very happy he's on this list. All it took for him was getting an insight into the at the time enigma that was Kim YN for him to be hooked.

I think I mention this in a reply or answer to an Ask but Heeseung was singlehandedly writing their love story while YN was firmly in denial 😂. Heeseung gave no fucks abt Mama Kim cause why should he care abt that abusive pos... Especially cause my guy had to be the one to help YN get thru the trauma Mama Kim had given her.

4. I was in a Bridgerton binge when the idea of Enchanted came to me. So I was very much drawing on my limited knowledge of the regency era, for how I wanted Sumghoon to act, plus it was fun to just add that Bridgerton flair with Benedict and Penelope being mentioned. Jiminie being chaotic was just needed. It seems I can't write Jimin not being chaotic, it's happened 3 times already and I see no reason to change that 😂.

5. Since I dont write for Sunoo, its noce to know that hes a fave just for how amazing he is in majority of my fics, SRTM and CIWYW not included ofc. Sunoo in my fics is just the dependable bestie that will give it to you straight but will also help u hide the body 😂. Maybe my next question will be which are your top side characters....

As a sucker for the Grumpy/Sunshine dynamic, I totally understand this 😂. Again we're still in early stages so who knows where my brains gonna take us with these 2 but I love their bickering and I'm defo gonna try incorporate it into more chapters cause they're adorable imo 😅.

The more I think on it, WHP is an ode to those stories that I grew up loving and a trope that I do still love and the fact I only have one story with the trope kills me, so hopefully an idea for a bad boy/nerd comes to me again cause I love that dynamic and it would be interesting to write again. Heeseung in true bad boy form gave 0 fucks about anything but getting the girl and making sure she's happy and loved.

3. This threw me for a loop, I was not expecting this one but I get where your coming from. The original idea had more angst between YN not knowing who to choose.

Since originally HW wasnt meant to be the villain she became there was more relationship drama. Though this did get me thinking about a spin off or some sort of AU where Jay never came and it's just hesseung and YN. Lemme know if your interested in me actually writing that. Gonna have to bully me to make it happen. See if that helps make the ideas flow, this will require brainstorming @shinkenprincess-oh

4. ICY my babies were a true and tested stangers to friends to lovers. Ive never liked insta love so apart from in Enchanted, thats not my style, I enjoy the banter and then the couple coming together. With ICY they knew of each other cause its Hogwarts but werent friends so they had to build that friendship and YN fighting the attraction.

The funny thing with I Choose You is that my original idea was much different but as my leads are won't to do, Son YN decided she knew better and my idea completely changed.

I'm putting it out there cause it might either force an idea from me or inspire someone else. But my original idea was that Son YNs big secret that's hinted at in the first few chapters was that she's a werewolf but by the time I got to chapter 3? Maybe 4 that idea went out the window and Son YN was Harry Potters noona 😅😂.

5. Another one I wasn't expecting, we barely know anything abt Seulmin apart from what Jimins chaotic ass tells us or someone else mentions their dynamic. This tells me I need to include them more...

Top 5 Friend Groups:

1. The whole TSC gang were so done with HW, if they werent afraid of the backlash theyll face, all of them wouldve planned to remove HW from YNs life years ago. Eunchae was just waiting to drop the honorific, she only used it cause she didn't want HW to cause an issue with her beloved YN unnie.

Fun fact with TSC is that I was gonna pair Kazuha with Yoongi or atleast that Zuha had a crush on him at some point but then it never worked into the story so that was scrapped. Not to mention @shinkenprincess-oh got me into her headcanon of TSC Kazuha and TSC Sunghoon being together.

2. Beomgyu and YN were true platonic soulmates. And then Yeji and YN were found family at its finest. Id like to think that YN being the matchmaker that she is, wouldve definitely tried to get them together. The 4 of them, it was too easy for them to find their groove.

Yeji and Beomgyu were forever grateful to Jay for being the calm to YNs chaotic energy. Id like to think they each had different dynamics with each person, any and all combos with the 4 of them work.

3. You're really loving Foolish Ones 😂. It's been mentioned in all your answers 😂. The hyungs + Niki love to tease but will be ready to ride at dawn for Jungwon and by extension YN now as well.

They just want they're grumpy kid to be happy and unlike Jungwon defo think there's feelings brewing that have been there for some time and are just waiting for Jungwon to realise it.

4. Namjin my beloveds, that's my bias and bias wrecker, atleast my top bias wrecker. I haven't delved into their backstory with YN and it may or may not come up, you never know with me. But these 2 are at the point where everyone knows YN is their little sister.

Family and friends alike treat her as their younger sister and that's just how its always been. I haven't mentioned it, kinda with the whole nickname thing but my headcanon is that each bangtan member and YN have a different dynamic but its all familial bonds.

5. You really do love surprising me with these answers, this was not a response I was expecting but I totally get it. I loved Ryujin and YNs friendship. Ryujin really needed a girl to bond with and YN was more than happy to open herself despite everything going on with Heeseung or Sunghoon in See Right Through Me.

the accent is consistently rough but there's not a single pronunciation as ridiculous as the way katarin bloodrayne says "my FAHthuh" so i'll let it go. i just commented this somewhere else but i think a director thinking mrod is a good choice for convincing accent work is a strong indicator that some other questionable choices will be made

the tape made me wince. that skin is already stretched THIN. he's gonna rip his nipples off. also i think it's kind of funny that because they were working with mrod's real breasts it looks like the doctor really exercised restraint. yeah maybe it was more conducive to her experiment to give him something realistic but if i were her i'd be giving frank fat fucking tits just for the hell of it

yes there was WILD vacillation between him being supremely awkward with johnnie and then seeming very chill about being a chick in literally every other situation. i'm glad this movie exists just because i think it proves that maybe portraying convincing sexual chemistry is just not mrod's strong suit no matter who she's playing against and it's not just a guy thing. except when she rested her forehead against johnnie's. that was cute

anyway: to me the core problem with the plot is that it's not clear what the point even is of the whole revenge spree!! i understand killing honest john and jin tao but what the fuck did earl and joe and vladimir and the nicaraguans whose names i can't remember have to do with anything? they had no part in actually getting frank to the doctor. and frank can't have been that opposed to dogfighting or pimping or whatever because he was working for those guys! killing them just to get back at honest john barely makes any sense either because it's not like we saw them all having a family dinner or something. when frank finally confronted him, john didn't seem cut up at all! if the plan was to cripple him financially or intimidate him i don't think it achieved shit because she straight-up killed him like a week later and also i can't imagine that the result of just murdering the top brass was that all the girls and dogs got to go free. i'm not saying she can't just be acting irrationally but that's not how a movie is supposed to work. we're supposed to have some reason to care

(as a side note i feel like that syndicate should have consolidated its operations. i'm imagining one of those problems where you have a prostitute, a machine gun, and a pitbull on one side of a river and you can only fit two of them in your boat or whatever. and what the fuck even was that "dry goods store." why were we suddenly in a spaghetti western?? i guess i find it vaguely plausible that they have those in san francisco but in that case it couldn't just operate as a front. he would actually have to be selling organic granola and shit)

okay i know you didn't ask, but here's how i would fix all of that. first, at the start, frank should ONLY be trying to kill honest john and the doctor. second, i think johnnie actually should be an ex-prostitute! i'm not saying it would be the greatest most realistic portrayal of sex trafficking, but i think it would make a lot of narrative sense. she can still be a nurse; frank just has to find out that in the past, she was pimped out by one of the guys under earl. then we would get to see frank realize that he's not honest john's only victim AND he would have an actual reason to start with earl! and then once he kills earl he can think critically and come to the conclusion that every arm of this gang is hurting people and THEN he can decide to pick off the leaders one-by-one. obviously he would understand that in the abstract because he's not a moron, but if johnnie's the first person he's ever really cared about (which is what i think they're trying to imply with the ward-of-the-state thing), it would make it tangible for him. right now i think the dog is kind of clumsily serving that function, but by the time frank gets the dog he's already killed four people. also for ~parallels~ he could "rescue" johnnie from earl (symbolically, through love and sexual healing or whatever), a gun from the nicaraguans, and pancho from vladimir. then he could use that gun to commit all subsequent murders, get his revenge as originally planned on honest john and the doctor, ride off into the sunset with johnnie and the dog, and in that way build a new life from the results of all this killing. then it would feel like it was all building to something. i'm not a scriptwriter or anything but i think that would be a much better movie

(also being a sex trafficking victim would help explain why johnnie needed money so desperately. san francisco is expensive but i'm not convinced that nurses living in studio apartments must resort to crime)

and i would just cut joe entirely. i don't know why the fuck joe is even there. i would also shorten the doctor's monologues by at least a hundred percent and replace that lost time with scenes of frank and johnnie in bed together

AND YAY OMG IM SO HAPPY YOU LIKED THE LINE ANALYSIS!!! to answer your question, i don't think loki was necessarily shy, but i also don't think his social life was super riveting. i can see him in class trying to look nonchalant while his prof tells everyone to get into groups, but on the inside he's sweating because he's never invited to be in a group and he's tired of his professors making exceptions for him so he can work alone. kind of a downer :( i do think he hooked up with a fair amount of people, but that was almost worse because no one seemed to want anything more with him - which is part of the reason loki doesn't know if you would have noticed him in any other context. or, at the very least, that he would have held your attention. i'm right there with you tho, i would notice mr lokey 🥺
