rereading descant's next chapter before posting and... yeah to me the most damning line that oot ganondorf crosses that is just, completely and unforgiveably monstrous and horrifying and unjustifiably petty and cruel no matter how you look at it, is how he treats the gorons when he takes over. he does to them exactly what is implied hyrule does to him and the gerudos in tp (imprisoning them in a place of worship and slowly executing them --very interesting parallel btw), and uhhh my guy this is just extremely brutal genocide, and you had already conquered the region

So I finally made a BOTW OC, her name is Corail XD
I gave my cousin permission to use Corail in her Sidlink story: https://archiveofourown.org/works/11771079/chapters/26536866
                                                             0o0~0o0~0o0
Race: Zora (BOTW version)
Type of Zora: Dasya-Type, is a mix breed of Blue Glaucus, sea slugs and Caribbean Reef sharks.
Family: Mother, is based off a Sea Slug and a long descendancy of squids and eels.
Father (deceased) was a long lineage of pure-blood sharks, but mostly blue and Caribbean Reef Sharks
Prince Sidon, (Not related by blood, but she loves him and cares for him like an older brother she always wanted)
Friends: Prince Sidon, Gaddision and Dunma (She’s somewhat friends with Bazz and Rivian, but she doesn’t really speak with them much. So they’re more like acquaintances really). She never got to see Link much, so she’s never interacted with him. Mipha could be considered partially a friend since Mipha did babysit her and Sidon when they were younger. But it’s more a sisterly kind of relationship if anything.
Likes: Sweets (especially honey flavored treats), practicing archery with Sidon and- Does insulting snobby nobleman Zoras and the royal Zorana Council count?
Dislikes: Bringing up her blood Dasya linage as a negative. Bullies. Snobby rich people (of any race) considering themselves as the center of the world. Anyone so much insulting her friends (especially Sidon, that guy is like a brother to her).
Love Interests: None. Nor is she interested in getting into a relationship pretty soon.
Fears: Loosing a loved one, and advanced technology (of any sort, Guardians pretty much ruined that for her).
Powers: Able to freeze water into either ice or snow. She can move the ice/snow but tends to drain her power the more she uses it.
Age: 125 (one year younger than Sidon) Physical age is that of 16 year old Hylian/Human girl.
 *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Bio: Corail wasn’t exactly born poor, but she comes from a mistreated area of the Zoras. There are three types of Zoras that my cousin and I came up with:
Mammal (most of the Zorana Population)
Predator: (Zoras’s like Sidon)
Dasya: (the type my OC is) ~I do plan to draw some concept art on how they look later~
Corail’s mother, Riyo is a talented healer even before she married. Thus she worked in the palace thanks to her Nayrue-blessed healing power.
*Few Zoras are blessed to have magic from the goddess of wisdom herself, other races such as Gorons and Gerudos can be blessed by magic from Din, the goddess of power. And the Rito and Koroks can be blessed from Farore, the Goddess of Courage. Hylians and a few select of Sheikah can be blessed by Hylia herself. Unfortunately humans are not since they were never technically born in Skyward sword as they were produced overtime, not being of Hylia’s creation at all.
Now back to the background: It wasn’t until Riyo married a Zora warrior that rose her status and allowed her to have their own personal sleeping quarters oppose to sleeping where the general population. Years later Corail was born about close to a year after Sidon hatched. At that point Mipha had been getting some advice the second her healing power awoke in her veins, she got to know Corail’s family greatly to the point where Sidon grew up with Corail like siblings.
They are extremely protective over each other, and would not allow anyone to insult them if they could help it.
At the age of 34 her Nayru blessing magic woke within her, allowing her to freeze water upon command. It required physical touch to happen, but overtime she was able to freeze it without contact.
Sidon later got his wisdom blessing from Nayru, his power being none other than healing power about 2 years after Mipha’s death. That’s about 14 years after Corail got her freezing power.
*As stated above only certain beings can be blessed by one of the four goddesses in their respected race. For example:
Urbosa and Daruk were blessed by the Goddess Din for their abilities.
Mipha was blessed by Nayru for her healing.
And Revali got his powerful gale from Goddess Farore.
Unfortunately, even though she was gifted, due to Corail’s Dasya blood not many other children (other than Sidon) or adults wouldn’t accept her as one of their own since Dasya’s are typically that of the servant class and it was rare that they had a job beyond fishing, mining or being a servant to nobleman. Nonetheless be married into a more wealthier family. Most of the Dasyas live under Zora’s Domain and at the bottom of the sleeping pools in the city where the majority of the population live.
It’s unfortunately not very sanitary and thus many do get sick, forcing them to live under the city in order to recover or simply die from water pollution poisoning. However, thanks to advancement in Zoran medicine the death rate of a Dasya have decreased drastically, giving them much more stronger immune systems.
Corail thankfully never had to suffer from that thanks to her parent’s jobs. Even after the death of her father, Corail managed to live near the palace grounds thanks to her mother’s advancement and healing deeds during the Great Zorana war against the Lizalfos.
Of course old grudges and discrimination habits die hard among many of the Zoras, so even through her deeds not many accept their roles in the Zoran society. Leading to Corail’s bully issue, over the years she’s developed a defensive wall around herself, which only increased after the death of the Zora’s Champion Mipha. Only a few were able to look past it and talk to her.
She does not hold any grudges or hate against the Hylians because simply she was never into giving a damn. The benefit of being the lowest class was that people never gossiped with her as she grew up, so she never had the benefit of hating other races.
Sidon and Corail did get into a physical relationship for a short amount of time as the stress of being the next ideal heir to the throne gotten to him. Believe it or not SIdon wasn’t always the positive got-to-go-guy, as the pressure of being as half as good as his late sister was slamming down on him. By far only Bazz and Corail were the only ones who knew about this since he didn’t want to appear as “weak” in front of his people.
But everyone has limits, and Sidon eventually broke down in tears one night in his room. Corail happened to be there at the right time, it turns out Sidon was going through a mental breakdown and she tried her best to comfort him. And without even really thinking it, they ended up waking the next morning stripped of their jewelry and entangled with each other’s limbs.
For a while it was awkward between them, but eventually they got over it, their physical attraction to each other did last for quite a while. (As they mostly slept with each other out of comfort, not out of love). Over a course of time they eventually separated from each other in that aspect and just returned to being as simple friends as their relationship wasn’t mutual in feelings and they felt much better as friends.
But it made their friendship that much stronger.
The story about the bite mark on Corail’s neck can be read here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/11672469/chapters/26268840
Basically as children Sidon wasn’t able to really control his thirst for blood due to his predator genes. The main characters is Mipha and Sidon (Corail is a bit of an extra). It also explains the story of the three types of Zoras that my cousin and I talked about just for the sake of the story.
I will draw a de-aged Corail and Sidon eventually, but for now that’s pretty much it.
