Captain Marvel had been left on monitor duty on Saturday night. Again. He couldn't really complain, since he'd started to try going back to school his availability for JL duties had been limited a little bit on weekdays. Not that he wouldn't cut school to help out if he were called, but the JL generally tried to be pretty accommodating when it came to civilian identity stuff, even if they didn't know his. And it's not like he usually had any weekend plans as Billy, anyway. Besides, the Watchtower had better food than the stuff he could usually scrounge up himself on the weekends.
Admittedly he hadn't been paying much attention to the monitors. Most of the JL were on Earth in their respective cities doing whatever it was they usually did on Saturday nights, and though it may be irresponsible, Marvel figured they could handle things as usual.
This is how Marvel justified taking a short break to grab a snack from the cafeteria, empty save for Hal, who had microwaved a burrito and left. This is also how Marvel let his short break turn into a long break while he read through a couple of the comic books Freddy had leant him. This long break is why Marvel had completely missed the entire earth being engulfed in supernatural plants.
Staring out the large window in the monitor room at the big green ball that had been his planet, Captain Marvel dropped the blueberry muffin he had brought from the cafeteria.
"Oops."
Marvel flew to the monitors and flitted from screen to screen, trying to figure out what had happened. There were a few short calls that had come through from Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Superman, and a few others inquiring what was happening. Marvel hadn't answered because he had been in the cafeteria. "Crap, crap, crap," he muttered, "I am so going to get in trouble for this."
The timestamps showed that the calls began to peter out until stopping entirely, the last one from the Flash, a little over 40 minutes ago.
"-ny input from the Tower would be helpful, no one's answering my calls. I don't know how long I can outrun these vines, they're everywhere and they're taking pe—whoa!" There was a crackle of wind, Captain Marvel thought he heard an echoing voice saying something about "feeding the children," straight out of a horror movie. "Man, she's creepy," said Flash under his breath, "the vines are—ah!—Taking people's minds or some—" there was another crackle and the recording lapsed into silence before cutting off entirely.
Captain Marvel hit the call button to the Flash. With each ring his heart climbed higher in his throat, no answer. He called the Batman, no answer, Wonder Woman, Superman, Cyborg, Aquaman, no answer. The planet had stopped emitting signals of any kind, and it seemed that no one was receiving them either.
"Holy heck," Captain Marvel muttered, staring at the hologram of Earth, a big green ball that had gone completely dark.
"Lantern!" Marvel shouted, flying out of the monitor room. "Lantern, there's an emergency!"
The Green Lantern popped his head out of his quarters, his expression turning serious as he saw the panic on Marvel's face as he shot down the hallway. "Cap, what's happened?"
"Mind controlling plants or something?" He said quickly. "No one's answering their comms, I didn't mean to—I didn't think anything would—I just wanted a muffin!"
"What?" Lantern asked, "a muffin?"
"Okay maybe I read some comics too, but it's not even a full moon—weird stuff usually happens on fulls moons and solstices—and with the Tower so empty I didn't think anything bad would—"
"Cap!" Lantern interrupted, "slow down, what happened?"
Marvel took a deep breath. "The Earth has been overtaken by mind-controlling plants?"
Lantern blinked and the two of them sped to the monitor room, a green planet sitting innocently below the Watchtower with the darkness of space as its backdrop. "Well... that's new," he said, his hand coming to scratch at the back of his head. He turned to look at Cap. "Do you know what it is? Or who?"
Marvel shook his head. "It happened too fast, no one knew what was going on. His face suddenly brightened. "Maybe there's something at the Rock of Eternity," he said. With a muttered word an a wide gesture, a portal opened, showing a stone room with glowing arches.
Marvel stepped towards it, but the Green Lantern grabbed his arm. "Wait," he said, "are those vines usually there?"
Marvel looked into the portal and saw fat green vines crawling out of one of the archways. "No," he said, eyebrows furrowing. The vines began to creep towards the portal, spines on the tips glowing green as if in anticipation. "How did they...?" The vines picked up speed and shot towards the portal.
"Close it! Close it!" Lantern shouted, leaping back, hand out, ring glowing green.
With a snap, the portal shut, cutting off the tips of the vines. In a second, they were enveloped in a translucent green sphere, containing them as they grew to fill the small space.
"I don't understand," Captain Marvel said, "the Rock exists in its own realm, it's supposed to be separate from Earth."
"Can't really help you with the magic stuff," Lantern said, examining the ball of vines in its green cage. "Who else is on the Tower tonight?"
"Uh," Captain Marvel shook himself and went to the screens to check. "Plastic Man and the Atom?"
"That's it?" Lantern asked.
Cap shrugged. "It's a Saturday night."
He hummed in acknowledgement. "Well, I guess we'd better let them kn—"
There was a light crackling noise and the vines in the green sphere shriveled. Lantern and Marvel both stared at it.
"Did you do that?" Cap asked.
"Don't think so," he answered. They stared at the black shriveled vines a little longer. Cautiously, Green Lantern opened the top sphere. When the vines didn't move, he dissolved it entirely, and the vines fell to the floor with a wet smack. The two stared at them a little longer.
"So... are they dead?" Captain Marvel asked.
"I think so?" Green Lantern replied.
Captain Marvel looked up out the window at the planet again to find it more or less back to normal. "Oh, I—huh." Another glance at the monitors showed that the planet was transmitting radio again, and signals received were back to normal range. "Crisis averted?"
The Green Lantern looked from the planet to Captain Marvel. "Guess so. Good job." His ring glowed and the blueberry muffin floated up from the floor. "You gonna eat that?"
#dpxdc#fic#boyo makes stuff#my writing#okay so the thought was what was the JL doing when Undergrowth took over the entire planet? and the answer is being incompetent mostly#listen billy batson is in my top 5 blorbos i love this kid but he IS a kid and i can and will write him as a disaster#also i barely know anything about hal jordan so sorry if he's ooc#Batman: Marvel what happened? Troll a second time! “You shoot, I’ll distract.” 💙
AN: This will be split into two parts! Hope you don't mind. Part two will feature smut. This one is more Friends to Enemies to Lovers.
---
A somnolent summer haze had settled over Kaede's village by the time sunset arrived that long and tiresome day.
Kagome sighed, smiling despite the ache in her muscles. She'd be sore tomorrow after working so hard. Asking Sesshoumaru to train her in combat might've seemed a little pointless since Naraku had been defeated around four years ago, but she was glad for the distraction. Any new skills and strength gained would come in handy if she was attacked during her brief travels to other villages, acting as a priestess in training.
Sneaking her companion a side-glance, Kagome jolted when she found golden eyes already fixed onto her face.
"W-what?"
"You were smiling."
Crimson dusted her cheeks. Kagome tried to mask the heat burning on her face with a cough. "Well, I'm happy. We've come a long way since you first started training me. It's not weird to smile about progress, is it?"
Sesshoumaru's lips curved in that faint teasing manner Kagome had become accustomed to during their time together. It softened his face in such a minuscule way and yet transformed the air around him into something fond and teasing. The golden hue of his eyes caught the light of the sun, flashing white for a moment before blazing brighter.
"Hn, so it was just concerning the training…"
Kagome blinked, tilting her head slightly. Why else would she be happy?
"You're smiling too," she pointed out with a smirk.
Sesshoumaru walked her the remaining short distance to her hut before stopping and levelling a direct, intent stare towards her that briefly stole Kagome's breath.
"I suppose I am," a low rumble caressed her hearing, "but the reasoning behind it is entirely to do with the company."
Kagome stiffened, heart fluttering. Ah, there it was again. The precipice of something she'd been glimpsing in his eyes for a little while now. It echoed a warmth that had taken root inside her heart. How much longer could she leave it unnamed?
Sesshoumaru searched her face, before inclining his head and drawing away, walking down the road that would lead him from the village.
Kagome scrambled for a response, quickly calling; "m-me too!" she yelled after him, blushing wildly. "See you tomorrow?"
The Daiyoukai halted briefly, shadows of nearby trees throwing his pale profile in shade. Dappled sunlight played over his hair and handsome face.
In that moment, Kagome felt herself stumble and fall over the precipice of that 'something' between them. She'd been ignoring it. Repressing it. Having feelings for her ex's brother was inappropriate.
But it couldn't be denied anymore.
Sesshoumaru offered a faint smile, silently signalling he'd be there.
She watched as he left, body aglow with strong sensations.
---
After spending the evening with Sango, Miroku and their three children before going to bed, Kagome tossed and turned that night.
Giddy with excitement about what their situation could turn into, Kagome dreamed of Sesshoumaru, recalling a memory that turned her insides to mush and set her heart aglow.
“You shoot, I’ll distract.”
“Got it.”
They’d been travelling together through a glade of yellow-tinged grass. The flat wilds were littered with boulders and broken rocks, overcast skies looming overhead. From out of the ground crawled countless demons- large inhuman insects reminiscent of ants mixed with scorpions. Sesshoumaru hadn’t seemed particularly worried- calmly letting her take the lead, she supposed as a means of helping her grow.
Kagome aimed her bow, shooting while Sesshoumaru flew around the hoard, releasing acid from his claws in order to keep them at bay, drawing their attention.
They worked in sync, moving as a unit.
Sesshoumaru let one demon slip by- and Kagome immediately shot it before its razor-sharp arm could reach her.
She raised fierce blue eyes- meeting the Daiyoukai’s glittering gaze. Pride. He looked proud of her progress.
His expression changed half a second later, form blurring over. His arm snatched around her waist and dragged her out of range from another deadly swipe aimed at the miko’s back. Kagome twisted in his grip and shot, reducing their enemy to ashes.
At that moment, pressed so close- Kagome felt something stir. His study arms encircling her waist felt right, their bodies aligning perfectly. The platonic friendship they’d grown over the space of a year broke away like a crumbling shell, revealing a fragile, hopeful, burgeoning warmth.
His dark, velvety voice purred directly into her ear. “That was careless, miko. Should I punish you?” he teased.
“It was one mistake!” Kagome laughed.
“Hn,” his eyes smiled, and she lit up from the action- which was more than enough evidence for her to know that she was in danger of falling in love with this demon. “In light of how amusing you have been, this one shall be magnanimous,” he allowed, white bangs dancing in the breeze.
---
She woke early to attend to her chores. She helped Kaede in the vegetable garden, babysat Rin and Shippo for a while, soon moving on to visiting a first-time pregnant woman in the village. Although she’d kept herself busy, Kagome’s mind buzzed with growing anticipation for the days training session.
Speaking of, I better get going.
Grabbing her modest training sword and securing it to her hip, she shouldered her bow and quiver of arrows out of habit. Kagome then set out from the village along the dusty road, wind at her back and a spring in her step.
Inuyasha greeted her in passing, walking the opposite way with a merchant. Recently he'd been hired quite often to act as a travelling bodyguard. Kagome somewhat envied him, glancing down at her miko robes.
Despite choosing to stay in the past regardless of a lack of romantic attachment, she still felt a little… undefined. For a while she'd been considering setting out on her own to help people across Japan. Becoming a miko felt like a default choice, but not necessarily a permanent one for her. Sesshoumaru's training lessons were helping to give her more options by the day- and he never asked for payment, strangely enough.
She brought along some small packages of different blends of tea regardless; something she'd come to learn he appreciated.
He’s practically a tea connoisseur. What a nerd, she thought affectionately, sandals crunching on dead leaves as she wandered into the forest.
Moving ever closer to her destination (a meetup point beside a towering waterfall) the happy anticipation in her gut gradually became replaced with mounting unease. Instincts raised the hair at the back of her neck. Sweat dotted her brow, heartbeat thundering.
The sensation of being watched insidiously slid over her.
Kagome kept her expression outwardly placid. Tension lined her shoulders, becoming strung tight.
She couldn't sense anything with her aura. The complete silence even while she walked became telling. She relied on sound, taking Sesshoumaru's teaching on board. A human stalking her would need to move and create noise, and a lower demon would've been detected by her powers.
So I'm dealing with a strong demon.
The type that could conceal themselves completely. Judging by the lack of sound, they were fast moving or capable of flight.
Kagome frowned, soon blinking. The palpable danger eased from the situation.
Oh. It's Sesshoumaru, she realised without sensing him, resisting the urge to smile.
All the little tells were there.
Kagome carefully set down the packages of tea. She then gripped her bow and removed it from her shoulder, nocking an arrow and firing at the trees above. She kept up this barrage of attacks- bolts of glowing pink orbs shooting into branches hanging overhead until one large white ball of energy came speeding down towards her.
Kagome tossed her bow aside and unsheathed the sword at her side, bringing the blade up just in time to meet slashing claws.
What?
The attack was hard- much more hard hitting than usual. It threw her back, sending her down and rolling over the ground, kicking up leaves.
Kagome groaned when she halted, head spinning. She shakily eased herself up on her elbows. Sesshoumaru always met sword with sword. What was going on?
Footsteps could be heard, black boots stopping in front of her position. Kagome raised blinking blue eyes up, travelling along the familiar clothes and armour before settling on Sesshoumaru's face.
She stiffened.
His eyes are cold, was her first thought.
This was seconds before he raised his knee- planting a boot atop her head and forcing it down.
Kagome yelped, reeling. "S-sesshoumaru?"
His measured, velvety tone held a ridged undercurrent of ice. A bite. "You almost seemed to let down your guard for a moment. How strange. I cannot say I am shocked though. You remain naïve and in need of a protector, do you not, wench?"
This wasn't like him. Their training was punctuated with teasing and instruction, not... this.
Was he trying something rougher? A new method with scare tactics? Kagome opened her mouth to reply but cut off into a squeak, feeling pressure against her skull.
"Unfortunately for you, my filthy half-brother seems to be absent. After waking today and finding that my arm has surprisingly reformed much quicker than anticipated, I knew the first thing I wanted to do was soak the ground with his blood," he purred, easing the press of his heel against her head, before baring his weight down harder and eliciting a gasp. "You will do nicely in his place. The girl who assisted him."
Having had enough of being used as a foot-stool, Kagome snarled, lifting a hand and pouring all reiki into her palm, aiming for his ankle.
The pressure disappeared from her head, and Kagome quickly sat up and shakily stood, vision briefly swaying with the rush.
Sesshoumaru stood a slight distance away, beginning to circle her. Fierce golden eyes, hard and unyielding, swept her body from head to toe.
"Sesshoumaru, t-thats enough. I'm not into this training method. You can be rougher without humiliating me like that," she seethed, nerves strung out. Something was seriously off.
What had he been talking about?
"Training? I do not know of what you speak. I have no intention of that… but the prospect of playing with you is starting to seem attractive," he sneered, exposing pearly white canines with a smirk.
Kagome backed up, quickly grabbing her fallen sword and blocking another sudden attack- claws clanging against metal.
With a growl, she swung, stumbling backwards and raising a glowing shield around her just as green acid sprayed out.
Blue eyes widened, watching the substance leak down the pink aura that enclosed protectively around her.
She then stared into bright golden eyes, slit pupils dilating. Smirk curving a cruel mouth.
He just tried to kill me.
Realisation dawned, cloying and sickly, making her feel weak in the knees. No, if he'd been trying to kill her, she'd likely be dead.
He was doing as he'd said. Playing. Toying with her life.
This man, this demon, was not the same Sesshoumaru she'd come to know.
"Who- who the hell are you?" she rasped, hurrying backwards to try and put distance between them.
He arched a pale brow. "You called me by name just moments ago. Are you that dim-witted that you have forgotten, girl?"
"You're not Sesshoumaru," she hissed. "The Sesshoumaru I know is a damn sight more considerate than you. He'd never try to kill me or disrespect me like you just di-"
The words disappeared from her tongue. He had. A couple of times in what felt like the distant past. He'd tried to harm her during their first few encounters, during those early days in the Feudal era so very long ago.
He'd mentioned his arm. Why would he be bothered by it when he'd regained it along with a new sword four years prior?
Sesshoumaru hummed, continuing to stalk around her in a predatory manner. His gaze was back on her body, lingering around her waist and backside, making her skin heat.
"You seem to have aged since our last encounter," he uttered, eyes narrowing briefly with thought.
"I-" Kagome sucked in a sharp breath. She couldn't believe what she was thinking, but it was the only explanation that came to mind if he wasn't an imposter. "Sesshoumaru, what do you last remember?"
"Are you mocking me?" he asked silkily, raising a clawed hand and flexing sharpening fingers. "No matter. This one will soon put an end to your impertinence. I recall my left arm being cleaved off with my birthright. I remember the wild, disgraceful swinging of my sibling as he wielded a sword he was unworthy of," that debonair voice deepened into a deceptively soft, dangerous baritone. “And I vividly picture the face of his whore, watching me. Cheering him on like a faithful little lover."
Kagome's breath halted. He'd forgotten. Everything that had come after their first encounter had been lost to the breeze. She didn't know how it had happened, or when. If a spell or head injury impaired his memory. The reality was what stood before her now. An enemy wearing the face and skin of her dear friend.
The second her glowing barrier wavered- he struck his talons through her shield, shattering it and snatching Kagome by the throat. She gasped, clutching at his wrist as he raised her slightly off the ground, forcing her to scramble on tiptoe.
His face loomed close, nose brushing along hers. He smelled so familiar; spicy smoke, masculine, with a hint of forest. It put her heart at ease, clashing with the situation.
"Interesting that I sense your maidenhead remains, girl," he said quietly into the hush between them. "Did my brother not revel in his victory with you?"
Kagome gasped, feeling his thumb lift slightly from her windpipe. She growled, swinging her legs to try and kick free. He evaded them- until she managed to slam a foot into his thigh. He snarled- suddenly crushing her back against a tree.
Kagome wheezed, feeling the unforgiving press of armour against her chest and stomach.
"Listen to me-!" she gritted out. "Y-you said it yourself. I've aged. It's been years since your last memory, Sesshoumaru," she gazed at him pleadingly. "Please believe me. We put all that behind us. We're friends now. We defeated an awful foe together, and you protected a little girl called Rin. Gradually, we've warmed to each other. Nothing is the same as it used to be."
His icy expression did not thaw, though he looked briefly considering. That terrifyingly apathetic gaze which hinted at his penchant for swift, merciless killing roved over her face.
Kagome flinched as he brushed a palm through her hair, grazing down to linger on her cheek, running a thumb over parted lips. She inwardly purred, something unwanted stirring low in her abdomen. His nostrils flared.
"I sense no lies from you, and yet I refuse to believe this tale you are spinning. Perhaps you have fallen under some sort of enchantment. The fact remains that I could never befriend a lowly human," the edge of his claw bit down slightly into her plump bottom lip. She hissed as blood pooled. Sesshoumaru raised the digit to his lips, tongue winding around it to lap up the crimson substance in a languid drag. His eyes gleamed.
"I think… “ he began softly, the following words breaking the remainder of her composure, eyes widening. “In light of how amusing you have been, this one shall be magnanimous. I will ruin you instead of killing you," he promised in a rich cadence. "I will dirty you from head to toe. Your beloved Inuyasha will never stomach the sight or smell of you again. He will know his brother took all of your firsts."
Kagome's heart dropped with horror even while her lower stomach flipped.

Love in The Midst of Doomsday~
Five Hargreaves × Reader
Chapter Two
Chapter Three: Day Three
Word Count 2.3k
Warnings: few cuss words
....
As the night goes on and on, your anxiety just got worse and worse. Questions such as these kept rushing through your mind: why isn't he back yet? Is he hurt? What is happening to him? So you paced your apartment rooms and waited and waited. Your father tried to calm you down but his words only made you worry more.
"Dad, why don't you wake up Lila? I'm sure that she wouldn't mind chatting with you."
Elliot "She's the one that tied me up!"
"Because you almost shot my husband!"
Elliot shushes you, "Only because I thought that he was lying."
"Look dad, I can't go back and forth with you right now. I don't know what happened to Five and I don't know why he hasn't come back yet-"
Elliot "Okay, okay. I am sure that he and Diego are fine, sweetheart. For all that we know, they could be having a pleasant conversation with their father." You open your mouth to respond but you see a flash of light coming from the front of your building. You run to the window to find Five holding Diego up with his arms.
"Oh my god, Lila! Wake up!" She rushes to you in a panic, "Something is wrong with Diego, help me help Five." She nods and you too bolt out the front doors.
When you meet Five in the hallway, you see that he too is bleeding.
"Oh my god, Five-"
Five "I'm alright, just help me get him upstairs." Lila takes his other arm while you help Five.
Lila "Who the hell stabbed him!?"
Five "Our father." He grunts.
"Long story?"
Five chuckles, "Not this time hun." Once you four get upstairs to the apartment, Five pretty much collapses from exhaustion.
"Five, let me see it." He lets go of his neck and shows you scratch marks that were bleeding.
Five "It's nothing-"
"Who did this?"
Five sighs, "Pogo."
"Pogo?!"
Five nods, "He is younger, just like all of us but for him, it makes sense."
"And he didn't remember you."
Five "No. He did what he was trained to do. I'm alright, just need to get it cleaned."
"I'll go get everything." He nods and then looks over at Lila who is cleaning Diego's wound very intelligently.
Five "How do you know how to do that?"
Lila "My mother. Oh..did you cut yourself shaving? I can teach you, y'know. Like a big boy-"
Five "Just ran into an old family friend." Lila nods, "and I don't you dare treat me like I'm a kid, I am way older than you-"
Lila laughs, "Okay."
"I have the stuff, c'mere." He was on the verge of knocking Lila out but when he saw you, he lost the urge. You keep him sane, you keep him right. He follows you to the bathroom and sits down on the side of the bathtub. You take out an alcohol pad and wipe the area clean. Five has been through much worse so he does not even flinch at the skin contact. You almost lost Five after one of his more intense missions that the Handler put him on. You remember that fear, that gut wrenching fear of losing your everything.
You sigh, "I knew that something was wrong."
Five chuckles, "You were always intellectually connected with me."
You snicker, "I guess the connection comes with being with the love of my life so I'll take it." He looks at you with puppy-dog eyes and a small smile forms on the corner of his lips.
Five "I don't think that you will ever know how much I love you."
"I do." You quickly kiss his lips before you turn his face so that you can clean and bandage his cuts. He flinches only when you had to place the bandage on him because you had to slightly push down to secure it in place.
"I'm sorry." He does not respond, he only crashes his lips to yours. The kiss was long and passionate. When you both pulled back, you both were out of breath. "What was that for?"
Five smirks, "I was going to do that when you kissed me the first time but you pushed my face away."
"I had too-"
Five "I know. Thank you for helping me baby."
"You're welcome. Let's go check on your brother- wait," you just remembered that you didn't ask him how and what happened in that place. "Why did your father stab him?"
Five "I don't know. I was dealing with Pogo when Diego was with our father. I just found him laying there afterwards."
"Well you both are here now, that's all that matters."
Five "I know but it still didn't solve the problem. We have to talk to him, Y/n."
"And you will. Tonight was just not the time."
Five "We are running out of time."
"Hey, look at me." He stops walking and looks at you, "I know that we don't have a lot of time. But we can fix this. We've been through a lot of shit together, and we've made it through it all, didn't we?" He nods, "So we can get through this tough time. We will figure out how to fix the timeline and stop doomsday." He nods and places his head upon yours.
Five "I'm sorry for lashing out."
"I'm not mad, you have every reason to be stressed out. But the important thing is, is that we have each other again. And together-"
Five "We can do anything." You nod. "Let's go check on him..then can we go to bed?" He says with a pleading voice.
"Yes," you laugh, "Bed sounds nice." He laughs and checks on Diego and Lila. She tells him that he stopped losing blood and she stitched him up with your father's help.
Five "Thank you, Elliot." He nods. "And thank you Lila."
Lila "No problem. Your brother has been there for me when no one else has..I owe him. I'll see you two in the morning."
You both, "Good night." Soon after she went to bed, you, Five and your father went to bed yourselves.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When the sun seeps through the curtain, you and Five wake up. You have a migraine from all of the stress and anxiety that you had all last night and Five can tell by the way you pause at the edge of the bed. As the husband he is, he maneuvers himself to your side and he wraps his arms around your waist and begins to kiss your shoulder. You hum from his affection.
Five "What do you need?"
"Nothing, just my head-"
Five "I know, I can feel it." You huff as you place your head in your palms, "Is there anything I can do?"
"You do enough, babe." He kisses your shoulder again and again until there was a knock on your door.
Five mumbles, "Everytime.."
"What is it?"
Elliot "We have something, come on out." You and Five hurry out if your room and find Elliot stuffing his face with a bowl of cereal by his cluster of signals and equipment.
Five "So..what do you have-" and then he heard an alarm go off. "What is that?"
Elliot "The atmospheric radar...wha-what are you tracking?"
Five "Sound waves." He looks at you and he smiles.
Elliot "Why-"
Five "You're coming with me." He takes your hand as he blinks before Elliot could ask any more questions. Elliot huffs and just rolls his eyes.
Before you knew it, you and Five were in the middle of a corn field. He never once let go of your hand as the both of you made your way through the tall weeds.
"Five, why are we here?"
Five "A sibling of mine is here, I just don't know which one yet." You continue to walk on with Five until he slows down suddenly. Then, he let's go of your hand and kneels down in front of something.
Five "Hello Vanya."
Vanya "Who are you?"
Five "I am your brother."
Vanya "And..who is she?"
"Hello, my name is Y/n. I'm your brother's wife."
Vanya "Hold on...I have a brother."
Five "You don't remember?" She shakes her head, "Well, the Ikea mafia will come back for you if you do not come with me.."
Vanya "Why are they after me?"
Five "Because you are not supposed to be here, Vanya."
Vanya "In Dallas?"
Five "No, here..in 1963." You three make your way to the middle of the cornfield. But it is not just the middle of the field, it has been made into a perfect circle. Five knew that Vanya was the cause of it.
Vanya "Holy shit."
Five "Yeah, crazy right?" She nods and then she remembered that she herself was the cause of this art piece.
Vanya "Will you explain to me what the hell is going on?"
Five "When we get to our next destination."
Vanya "Which is-" before she knew it, he blinks us three into a cozy coffee shop in downtown Dallas. "How-"
Five "Long story." You can see the concern and confusion in her eyes and you can't help but feel sympathy for her and her situation.
Vanya "Just tell me who I am."
Five sighs, "When you were a baby, you were bought by an eccentric billionaire. He raised you in an elite academy with six other siblings with extraordinary powers. But in the year 2019, to avoid the apocalypse, we jumped into a vortex but we ended up scattered throughout the timeline in dallas texas." You huff because you know that that was way too much for any human being to process all at once. But at the same time, you also know that we do not have much time to chit-chat. "Any questions?"
Five "You really don't remember anything?"
Vanya "W-what causes the apocalypse?"
Vanya "No I um, I had an accident. When I fell I hit my head and I lost my memory." He looks at you with sadness in his eyes because he knew that she was the cause of the first horrific apocalypse in 2019. He looks down at his black coffee and thinks for a second and figures that if he lied, it would hurt her less than her knowing the truth.
Five "An asteroid impact. It is night and day from the first one but...it all ends in the same result."
Vanya "The first one?"
"There is another one coming-"
Five "It followed us. In eight days from now, the world ends in a nuclear doomsday."
Vanya's eyes start to water at the thought, "That can't be right."
Five "I saw it. You were there. We all were. I wish I could unsee it but I can't."
Vanya "I have to make a call-"
Five "Vanya, we don't have the time! We have to find the other's."
"Five, just let her make the call. I'm sure that it won't take long." She thanks you and then runs to the phone that is by a booth.
He sighs and leans against the barstool, "She took that well, at least."
"Mm, as well as she could."
Five nods, "I wonder who she's calling."
"Maybe she will tell us when she is done."
Five "I'm just glad that I have her back."
"You will get the other's back too, Five." He kisses your cheek and begun to tap his foot on the ground in aggravation because his sister is still on the phone.
Five "We don't have time for this."
"Five-" he does not listen to you this time, he walks over and takes the phone out of Vanya's hand and hung it up.
Vanya "What the hell?!" He grabs her so that she calms down and focuses.
Five "We do not have time for this Vanya!"
Vanya "THAT WAS MY FRIEND YOU HUNG UP ON!"
Five "We have to find the others and figure out how to stop doomsday!" She huffs and walks away from her brother and he does not know what to do in the moment. So you take his hand and you follow Vanya to her car. Five explains a little bit more before we all got to a wrestling match.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When you three got out, you and Vanya were both confused until you walked inside.
Vanya "Hey, I know that guy! He showed up to my friend's barn..apologizing to me. Who is he?"
Five "He is your brother." She understands that fairly quickly and rushes over to the rink to watch Luther begin to fight his opponent. He lets her go ahead before he joins her to spend some time with you. "At least she knows Luther."
"Only because he went and talked to her. Only God knows what he said to her."
Five rolls his eyes, "Knowing Luther, he probably told her too much."
"How did you know that he would be here?"
Five "I found him first remember?" You nod, "Well his boss makes him fight for money so, I figured that we would have a good chance of catching tonight's big win." He said sarcastically, making you giggle. "Come on, he's about to start." He takes your hand and you both walk towards the sidelines. As it started, Luther was winning. He was getting in really good and strong punches on his opponent. That was until he got his first knock to the ground that he shifted his mindset and he pleaded to be knocked out.
Luther "Give me what you got!"
Five "What the hell is he doing?!"
Luther "Come on, HIT ME!" He gets what he asked for, "I want to feel all of the pain." After that, he got hit so hard that he was flung up in the air and passed out.
Five and Vanya "Shit…"

Undeniable Attraction
Reader x Reader?
[Not my gif]

Warning(s): some risque experimentation with reader's duplicate.
A/N: This is for a request that was made.
Masterlist
Finals were always a stressful time in college, but this year they were different. Before starting your spring semester you spoke to your advisor and decided on double majoring. It seemed a little daunting at the time but your advisor suggested you try it out this semester. If it didn't go well you could drop one to a minor or all together.
Now you were overwhelmed with all you had to do, projects, presentations, tests to study for. You knew you weren't going to make it but you didn't plan on failing for classes you already paid for. So you did all you could with the time you had. It was 6 in the evening when your study group decided to end the session for that day. They decided on going out for dinner but you declined telling them you were staying to do some reasearch.
One of your classmates Drew shook his head, "You're gonna need one more of you if you wanna get all your work done." You looked up at him in realization, he probably didn't even know what idea he'd given you in that passing comment.
"Yeah, I would need one more of me," you said to yourself. "You know what, I'm going back to my dorm. I think I left some stuff there." You packed up your stuff and rushed off.
You went to your room and searched until you found the spellbook that had been in your family for generations. Flipping through the pages you looked for the right spell you needed. Then you saw it, a duplication potion.
Your familiar sat next to you looking at the page suspiciously. You were glad your roommate transferred to another school. It made it easier on you not trying to hide Zenia or any of your witchcraft from someone living in such close quarters with you.
"Don't do this," was all she said but you could hear the warning in her voice.
"It's gonna be fine Zenia, I just need to make the duplicate for a day."
Zenia looked at you irritation evident on her face, "I dont care about you using it for a day, I care that you'll get caught. This spell-"
You looked at Zenia scratching under her chin affectionately. '"It'll be fine, assuming I don't get caught I'll just have the duplicate do as much work as she can before I break the spell."
Zenia looked at you with a stern expression. Then you went to work putting together the ingredients for the potion. Zenia helped you of course but she made it clear this was against her better judgement. One you were done you held up the crystal goblet carrying the teal liquid. A eery mist hovered over it some spilling towards your hand.
Looking into it you said the incantation making the mist dissappear and revealing your reflection. Tipping the goblet back against your lips you gulped down the bitter drink.
You felt a piece of your being ripped out of your chest and in a flash you stood in your room staring at, well, you. You grinned knowing that it had worked. "I might just pull this off," you said to yourself. Your duplicate stared back at you with a naive smile.
You led the duplicate to the desk at the end of your room. You eyed her for a bit, "You don't really talk much do you?"
She only answered with a shake of her head, "I am a part of you, I know why I'm here."
You nodded with you lips pressed together. "Ok, we've got a lot to get done. I'm gonna have you do my final essays and projects while I study for the tests."
Your duplicate wordlessly began working and you layed on your bed to study. It felt good to have a the load reduced a bit. The more you got done the more confident you became. If this wen well you might look into making a duplicate more often.
Hours passed and you decided on taking a break when your stomach grumbled.
"I'm getting some dinner. Do you want anything?" You addressed your duplicate.
"No, also I need to go to the library and get books for this presentation, is that ok?"
You thought for a moment, "Ok but be back here as soon as possible. Don't talk to anyone!"
"You know I'm not that stupid," your duplicate said with a roll of her eyes before leaving for the library
The days passed and you had grown fond of having you duplicate around more. Enjoying your time spent with her was something you hadn't expected. She was just a means to get through finals. Still, you noticed yourself becoming more aware of yourself. You tried to fix your hair at random times, you used your chapstick more to keep your lips from drying, you even thought more about the outfits you chose. The reason it was so unexpected was that this was your duplicate, not an entirely different entity. There were a lot of territories still unexplored in your new emotions and trying to think about them only confused you more.
Suddenly she walked into your dorm room with a grin, "We should go clubbing!"
"Um, what do you mean we?" you asked sitting up on your bed.
"You, me and your friends. They wanted to celebrate and I thought it was as a good idea."
You shook your head in refusal, "No, we can't both go out. It's too dangerous."
"Oh come on! A simple glamour spell and some makeup, no one will ever notice a resemblence." your duplicate took a step into your personal space, "We both deserve this." She tipped her chin downwards her identical eyes batting their lashes at you.
You sighed knowing your resolve was weakening, "Fine." Once you made sure neither on of you looked like eachother you decided you were ready.
Turning to you with sudden panic in her eyes, "Wait? What's my name?"
You shrugged, "Jane Doe...man Doeman."
Jane nodded, "Ok. Ok, Jane Doeman." She shook off any remaining nerves before the two of you left.
The club was filled with with other college students trying to let off some steam as well. You noticed Jane was getting along with your friends. Which wasn't a surprise, she was you after all.
After a few drinks, a light buzz set in and you began to worry less and enjoy yourself more. Without a word you lead Jane to the center of the club for a dance.
The neon lights and pumping bass only added to your inhibitions. Your body moved closer to hers as the two of you danced in a sea of sweaty bodies. Even with the other people bumping against you, all your attention was on Jane. Her perfume-your perfume-somehow smelled way better on her than you. Her head was thrown back a carefree grin on her face as she moved in time with everyone else. Not thinking twice you grabbed Jane's face and smashed your lips against hers. How were her lips so soft and when did she buy peach flavored lip gloss? Pulling back for air she stared at you with a new found desire. In an instant you were stumbling out of the dance floor towards a booth in the back of the club.
Jane's mouth was back on yours with a frevor you weren't expecting. You moaned when she pulled your bottom lip between her teeth. Her hands reached behind you squeezing you bottom. You soon turned your attention to her jaw then trailing nips and kisses down her neck. She let out a mix between a moan and a sigh, her hands squeezing your sides. "We should probably got somewhere more private."
"This is crazy right?" you asked looking into her eyes. Every part of what you were feeling wasn't supposed ti make sense. Yet here you were making out with your duplicate feeling youself fall deeper into your feelings.
Jane stared at you with a mischevious glint in her eyes, "Hell yeah this is crazy. So are we gonna go back to your dorm or what?"
