You know, if you run a hotel in Florida, you should be aware of FEMA and FEMA’s effort to keep a roof over the heads of disaster victims. It just comes with the territory. You shouldn’t be oblivious to what people face when seeking shelter after a disaster in your community. A large hotel chain’s management should not be ignorant of the efforts of a huge Federal Agency. Nor should this type of hotel business hire ignorant managers, keep their management ignorant and indifferent to the hurricane disaster environment that is Florida.

I agree that a Red Roof Plus hotel manger does not have to verify that a FEMA registered disaster victim spent thousands of dollars out of his own pocket at a Red Roof Plus by signing an invoice to be mailed to FEMA. They don’t have to. 

But what is the problem, really? Aren’t these managers aware that there is no way to turn this into a scam that could come back on the manager or Red Roof Plus. There isn’t. Are they that fucking stupid? A FEMA registered disaster victim is just asking that a manager simply help FEMA get a second verification that they are legitimately paying and staying at their hotel, possibly spending thousands of dollars at this Red Roof Plus out of their own pocket and might soon be homeless thanks to the management at Red Roof Plus Tampa.

Possibly, there is another reason that the manager of a Red Roof Plus will not sign their own invoice, from their own motel: maybe the manager wishes to avoid any interaction with the Federal Government. It just makes no sense that anyone would be so callous, stupid or cowardly.

While I’m on this rant, I would like to also mention that the Red Roof Plus at Tampa is a non-smoking hotel that cannot keep its guest from smoking within the building. The reason the Red Roof Plus at Tampa is non-smoking is that this building is wood framed, old, somewhat dilapidated and vulnerable to catastrophic fire damage.

I say that the framing is old because while staying in room 215, Linda, who is 80, let go of her walker for a split second and it actually rolled away from her. The floors are that much out. Linda endangered herself retrieving her walker. Room 215 at the Red Roof Plus is not accessible by any standard.

Maybe the RRP needs a visit from Homeland Security, the Hillsborough Building Department, the Firemarshall’s Office and an ADA Officer but FEMA should not have to help me with the bill at the Red Roof Plus at Tampa. The Red Roof Plus at Tampa should refund every dime I spent for a room here.

Adelphi Acre Community Garden’s Free+All Ages Activities

Getting together the art for actual fliers for the couple of Saturday activities the Adelphi Acre Community Garden puts together... It’s interesting, and sometimes the crafty Saturdays won’t be strictly clothing related. (like diy ollas and other gardeny type things - but the box of tools and basic mending materials will always be there and I’m happy to help any way I can)

1st Saturdays - Make&Mend 10am-2pm (basic how to mend clothing classes, from how to put a button back on and what a darning egg is for to how to fancy patch your favorite jeans so they last a bit longer)

2nd Saturdays - Open to All Volunteer Day 9am-Noonish (Spend the morning in the garden, learn which plants are “weeds” (where they shouldn’t be), pull a few, have some coffee, various tasks come up as big projects where extra hands are super... handy.)

Last Saturdays - Garden Tour Q&A 9am-Noonish (Have a garden question? Luckily! All gardeners are filled with opinions. Want to just come for a walk and chat with people about plants? Like coffee + being outside + “being nosey” about how people grow different things different ways? =D - I’ll have printouts on the upcoming month of garden stuff to do, what to plant when, and general tips for managing veggies in Austin weather. It’s good to remember that the radiant city heat means we’re nearly zone 9... we just can’t grow avocados easily)

The Free Little Seed Library will be present for perusal at all events (unless I’m ill or something ridiculous happens and I can’t get the box to someone willing to keep track of it. The “membership” form is to keep us safe from the “big hort” army of lawyers and to help you keep track of what varieties you’ve already tried, I don’t look through them beyond to see who’d like to come to a seed saving class and you can put any name you want.)

I mean it would make sense considering they’re paralleling s3 and didn’t buck see firefighters while he was on the pier but he couldn’t help so maybe we will get the same thing except with Eddie this time

buck also saw the 118 while he was firemarshalling, and since it sounds like eddie won't be working a fire department job (at least, from what i can tell), i think having him at emergencies just by chance would make the most sense for him to see firefighters and show how much he's missing it.

I love the mentions of firemarshall buck, but its feels like they've been no mention of him for a while and now suddenly fire marshall buck has been mention the past 3 or 4 episodes in a row from different different characters.

I wonder if it’s just becoming an ongoing joke or if they were trying to subtly push into the start of Buck 3.0
