Skyscraper Labyrinth
“Promise you’ll never leave us… not without warning me first,” Alfonse plead. He had promised he would never become close with anyone, especially if they were summoned, yet here he was again. “I won’t!” the summoner promised, though deep in her heart she knew she would have to do it eventually. Shave gave him a warm smile and fought the urge to give him a hug, she didn’t want to become too attached either, but she was almost certain she had failed at that.
“Stop being so gloomy all the time Alfonse!” Sharena, who had missed the conversation spoke loudly as she came into the large room. “I was talking to some of the other Heroes and we want to have a huge party tonight!” the princess beamed. “Oh?” Alfonse ignored her remark, “what’s the occasion?” he asked. “We wanted to thank our wonderful Summoner for everything she’s done since she came here!” Sharena hugged the summoner tightly. “We love you Mae!” “Thank you!” Mae chuckled, “It’s been a lot of fun!” “Hasn’t it?” Sharena giggled, “And I’m sure we’ll have a lot more fun together! this is only the beginning!”
Ana stepped outside to get fresh air when she caught a glimpse of Alfonse who seemed to be lost in his own thoughts. “Alfonse?” Anna tapped his shoulder. “Yes?” “Why aren’t you inside with Sharena and the Heroes?” Anna took a sip of the drink she was holding. “I needed some quiet,” he answered. “Ah yes it can get pretty loud in there sometimes,” the commander laughed, “but I’ve see that face before.” she added, “what’s troubling you?” The prince took a deep breath and adjusted his posture so he could look at her. “When you summoned Mae,” he paused. “What of it?” Anna asked causally. “Did you open a portal to her world?” he asked. Anna looked at her drink then back at Alfonse, “to be honest, I have no idea how that happened.” “What?” “I told you this before on the day I introduced her. I held out Breidablik and she just kinda showed up!” Anna chuckled, “it was magnificent!” “I heard you say that yes but…” he looked down at his own feet for a moment. “How is she going back to her world if she….wanted to?” the words stung him, though he fought hard to conceal this. “Oh details details…” Anna waived her hand, “I have no idea and she hasn’t asked so…” Anna took another sip of her drink and smiled. “Don’t trouble yourself with that stuff Alfonse, she won’t be going away any time soon.” the red head went back inside.
Shortly afterwards Sharena came looking for him. “There you are!” she wrapped her arms around him, “What’s wrong brother?” “Nothing,” he lied, “just getting some fresh air, you know i’m not one for-” “You know, Mae was asking me where you were so i came looking for you!” she giggled, “she’s so popular! all the Heroes just want to dance and talk with her! I’m convinced if she went looking for you, it would turn into an expedition involving all the heroes!” Both of them laughed at this. “You know, I’ve been worried,” Sharena confessed. “About what?” “Well I’m afraid a day will come when Mae wants to go home,” Sharena said, “I mean yeah, she’s been of great help to us, but she had a life too, What if there is someone in her world who is desperately looking for her?” “…Yeah i know.” Alfonse turned around and gave his sister a hug. “This is why I kept telling you not to get attached.” “Yes i know but it’s so hard not to! she’s amazing and so are the Heroes!” “Ok now there are two of you out here? Let’s go inside!” Anna was yelling from the door to the balcony, The siblings broke the hug and walked silently towards the commander who could already tell what they had been talking about. “This is not going to turn into another thing like Zacharias, the two of you need to be responsible royals of Askr and go tend to this gathering! I won’t do it for you! no more sulking!” “Yes commander,” they replied in unison.
“Anna you really are lucky!” Mae chuckled as she put a hand on the woman’s shoulder. “Why’s that?” “If i was either Alfonse or Sharena I would never let you speak to me that way.” Mae admitted. “I don’t do it because I want to abuse my power or anything, it’s just that they have been sad about Zachareias for a very long time and i am worried it’s bad for them.” “So that’s why they were outside?” Mae asked. “Yes, but you shouldn’t worry, this is your night!” Anna smiled and went to dance with one of the heroes. Mae sat staring into her drink and wondered what Alfonse and Sharena had been talking about. The sudden disappearance from the party, the fact that Zaharias’s name had been mentioned again, and Alfonse’s request were all clear signs to her. They were afraid of her leaving, just as she was afraid of leaving them.
“I would like to one day open the portal to your world. Maybe we could visit together.” Alfonse had said this to her not that long ago. This had only made her daydream about visiting all sorts of places with him. Driving him around, going on the ferry, and maybe a plane if sh could get the cash for it. She chuckled at the thought of seeing his reaction to an airplane. The closest thing she could describe it as was a flying shark, but she wasn’t sure if he had even seen a shark. In all her time in Askr, she hadn’t seen a beach. She felt embarrassed when she realized that none of her fantasies included Sharena or Anna and she suddenly felt her cheeks redden. She chugged her entire drink and looked nearby for a distraction, she found Corrin(M) sitting nearby with a bowl of fruit and a liquor in front of him, he had a puzzled look on his face. “What;s up?” Mae sat down and grabbed an orange slice. “Whys there fruit and liquor here?” “Some people in my world say it helps!” Mae smiled. “So was this set up your idea?” Corrin asked. “Yes it was, when Sharena told me we were having a party i couldn’t help myself, i had to give some input.” Mae spoke to Corrin casually but Alfonse was still in the back of her mind. She began to talk slower and more carefully in order to make sure she wouldn’t say his name by mistake. “Are you ok? you seem distracted,” Corrin commented as she took note of her sudden silence. “Yup, just thinking of how amazing it is to be here with all of you!” she smiled, “we should dance!” “Oh Ok, but I’m not that good,” he admitted. “That’s ok! neither am i!” Mae pulled him out of the seat and in to the designated dance floor leaving her thoughts on the table with the fruit and the liquor.
So this is part 1 of the fic I promised earlier. a few things
I’m Stil not sure i want to keep that name for the summoner.
title is subject to change
I was originally planning for a short drabble but it turned into this thing that is going to have to be divided into several posts so you guys don’t die reading it.Â
I hate the verb “to plea” because it’s weak and its past tense crap is all over the place. pled, plead and pleaded are all correct, where pled is more used  in legal terms, plead is American and pleaded is English. so… read that first sentence however you want… :/
I had to stop because my computer is freaking out and i don’t want to lose this, so it was a rushed post.

FANFIC IDEA!!!
I’ve been toying with the idea of making a FE3H fanfic about Elodie. I can’t decide if I want to ship anyone with Elodie though. However, I had the idea of making an Elodie x various characters story where there are different sections/chapters that you can read depending on who you ship Elodie with. That or should I just make a poll and see what character people what Elodie to end up with? I’d love to hear any second opinions!

Skyscraper Labyrinth Part 2
Part 1
“Back Home” Mae opened her eyes and realized that for the first time in a while she was waking up on her own. She had gotten used to being woken up by either Sharena, Elise or Lissa, but this morning it seemed like everyone was just too tired to come around waking up everyone else. She went to open the window and let in some morning fresh air, except, when she opened the window she realized it was the afternoon. “How long was I out for?” she wondered to herself as she heard a light knocking on the door. That couldn’t have been Sharena, she normally stormed into the room. Was it Alfonse? Mae’s heart skipped a beat at the thought. This is ridiculous Mae, gather your wits! He’s just a person, no big deal! She moved to the door as she hung the white robe over her shoulders thinking this will do. “Who is it?”She asked. “Oh I’m glad you’re awake!” Elise spoke from the other side of the door. Mae sighed with relief and pulled the door open. “Good mor-afternoon Elise!” Mae greeted her, pulling the hood over her bed hair. “Oh that’s alright, I get bad bed hair too!” Elise laughed, “Do you want me to brush it for you?” Mae accepted the offer because she loved it when people played with her hair. “Was I the only person still sleeping?” Mae asked. “No, I think some people had way too much fun last night so no. I just really wanted to see you.” Elise smiled. “Oh really?” Mae was now curious, “why’s that?” “I overheard Prince Alfonse saying something about sending us all home and so… since you’re the one who does that thing, So I wanted to ask you if you knew when that’ll be!” “I-I don’t know Elise…I…he hasn’t told me anything.” Mae felt a trace of fear growing within. She knew all the heroes had to be sent home, doing it wasn’t the problem, the problem was what was coming after that. “They say that you’re not from this world,” Elise continued, “What does your world look like?” “Well, we have very high buildings and cars and…” Mae began the same tale she had told Anna and the royals when she had first appeared in Askr. “What are cars?” “Cars are like… wagons that pull themselves and are made of metal.” she chuckled as she said this, realizing that she had just paraphrased Alfonse. “THAT SOUNDS AMAZING!” Elise’s voiced echoed against the stone walls. Mae laughed, “perhaps one day you can…” “What was that?” Elise asked, putting down the hair brush, “All done!” “Oh no, nothing…nevermind.” “Oh okay!” Elise began messing with Mae’s hair again. “I like that we were summoned here. My favorite part is that people like me are called Heroes around here,” Elise laughed, “we do our best!” “Of course!” Mae nodded in agreement. “It makes me wonder though. One of my older siblings is always talking about how busy he is, makes you wonder what sorts of things Heroes left unfinished back home when you summoned them.” Back home. Back home Mae had been on her commute home from work when Anna had summoned her. She had been sitting on the train, ready to depart, her station was next. Back home Mae’s car was parked at the train station parking lot and she was not sure how many days had passed, how many parking tickets she had received, or if her car was still there. Back home Mae had food sitting in the refrigerator that was probably stale and expired. Back home Mae had utility and monthly bills to pay. She probably had one thousands missed calls from her landlord, and debt collecting agencies. It was her first apartment too, The landlord had probably thrown her stuff out and replaced the locks by now. Back home her family and friends were probably wondering where she had gone, and if she had been missing over seventy two hours, one of them must have already reported her absence by now. Back home… “Who knows,” Mae said after a pause, “But if they heed the cal it was probably nothing dire.” Except for her it was.Â
The summoner had managed to slip out of the castle unnoticed. Her destination? the summoning ruins. Anna had been very ambiguous about the details of how Mae had appeared in Askr. As the Order of heroes’ tactician and Summoner, the girl had grown accustomed to being in control. She was in control of resources, tactics, heroes, even some people’s training, she hated the idea of not being in control of her own things. “What magic did you work to bring me here?” she held Breidablik in front of her face and spoke to it as it was alive. She stared at the relic for a moment, only to find it did nothing. “You know I need to figure something out and you are not helloing.” she continued speaking to it. This time, she pressed it against her chest and continued walking towards the ruins.Â
“What do I need to figure out you ask? Well, I want to know how I can go back home. But I don’t want to stay home, I want to just… know how to do it…. I can’t go home without saying goodbye… plus I don’t want to say goodbye… I can’t… I promised I wouldn’t leave him… and her, and everyone!”Â
Mae wanted to hear an answer but she got none. “How many orbs do i need to feed you?” she held it tightly and spoke into it with rage. “ANSWER ME YOU STUPID THING!” She almost threw it against the hard stone ruins, but she realized she probably shouldn’t be abusing a relic, especially one that was entrusted to her for safekeeping. What would Alfonse think if he saw her do it? she dared not think of his disappointed face. “I’m an idiot.” she said as she came to terms with her feelings, and the things she was doing. “I’m sorry i just…” she examined it again, it’s unchanged form filled her with anguish. “this would probably be easier if i could just ask them how to open portals…” she leaned back on the stone at the center of the ruins and closed her eyes.
“Hey brother! Have you seen Mae?” He lifted his eyes from the pages he was reading and looked at Sharena with confused eyes. “Weren’t you supposed to take her somewhere today?” “I said that, but after last night, I just wanted to let her rest!” she said, “I was looking for her to let her know we’ll go tomorrow, but she;’s nowhere to be found.” “Did you ask around?” he closed his book and stood up. “Princess Elise was with her earlier but she’s the only one who’s talked to her today.” Sharena moved closer to her brother, “can we go looking for her please? she never really carries weapons with her, what if someone goes after her?” Alfonse nodded and grabbed his sword.Â
“I would try the ruins.” Anna said. “Why do you say that?” Sharena asked. “Because it’s her most frequently visited place. She’s a Summoner, where else would the Summoner go?” Anna laughed, but the siblings got the point, she was dead serious. Anna watched the two depart and hoped the her hunch was right. “There they go… those two never learn.” she sighed and went back to her early evening tea.Â
The siblings made their way to the summoning ruins with haste. Sharena who would sometimes complain about the small things on a trip like this was silent. upon arriving at the top of the ruins, Sharena was the first one to notice the relic on the floor. “Oh no!” the princess ran over to the stone and picked up the abandoned object. “Did she leave us?” “We must not jump to conclusions.” Alfonse insisted, “we should report to the general and tell her of this, we need to search for her!” “At least we know she was here…” Sharena said this, giving credit to Anna’s words. “Did sh ever talk to you about wanting to leave?” Alfonse asked his sister. His biggest fear was that she had left them without saying goodbye, he was afraid that his sister would say yes. “No!” Sharena exclaimed, “she never told me anything.” the girl tried to push back her tears. “Please don’t cry Sharena,” he hugged her.Â
As he stood there comforting his sister, he pushed back his own tears. He didn’t want to imagine what his life would be like if he didn’t see the summoner again. He had experienced enough sadness over Zacharias, but Mae was hurting him more. “It’s not like her to leave without saying a word,” Alfonse spoke, “if she had wanted to leave, she would have at least handed over Breidablik to someone in person.” He had to convince himself of this too. His sister looked up into his eyes, “We’ll find her right?” “I promise we wil!” he said and hugged his sister tighter.Â
Mae lay down on the soft carpet, she could feel the ticking of a clock somewhere in the distance. She opened her eyes to find a much lower ceiling than the one in the castle, and a ceiling fan. She sat up and quickly scanned the room, it was her bedroom. “What?” She stood up quickly and almost fell back again when her eyes filled with stars and her ears rung like sirens. “But why am I here?” she panicked. “Where is my car? where was I then if not on the train? What about Breidablik? and-” she fell on her knees and starred at the blue comforter on her bed as tears flooded her eyes. “Alfonse and Sharena…”Â
So this chapter was a little slow because I was introducing the Summoner character. I’m still not sure about her name but at this point it could be anything honestly.
At this point in the story she’s struggling with what she’s supposed to be doing. She is thinking of home when Elise speaks to her about it because now that her work is done, she has more free time to think about herself.
I made a reference to her real world problems like the car, and the first apartment because the whole thing is easy to handle when Kiran/Summoner lives by themselves.Â
The train commute and train station parking thing are very common for most people in my area since i live close to the city, so it’s easy to write about.Â
I mentioned that she was on the train when Anna had summoned her, but I interpret that moment as being very hazy and unclear in Mae’s mind. it’s all abut where she wakes up.
