I'm sorry he used to eat.
Something happened in 23/24... We were flying. I miss this man so much.

You cannot convince me he didn't have bigger potential to gag. He wanted to do it and he could've if it was managed better. Something shifted in his life. I can't pin it to one thing but he had a confidence that he either doesn't have anymore or at least doesn't show it anymore.
2023 he starts the after academy, he starts doing more fashion, he shoots for Calvin Klein, he starts getting more involved in F1, we beat united 7-0, he starts cooking with England, goal and an assist in Euro qualifiers, he rocks up to Louis Vuitton fashion show with braids, decides to start making movies with his bros, posts the sexiest photo on a bike I've ever seen doing god knows what in trenches, mountains, and lakes...
AND THEN, suddenly like a knife to the heart, hairs gone, Hendo leaves, he becomes VC, then...4 months later Klopp announces he's leaving, Liverpool get knocked out of Europa, we loose the the FA Cup, come in third in the league, his contract is now down to a year....
WHAT HAPPENED TO MY MAN?!?!

Re your last post: Wasn‘t Trent also dealing with a very persistent stalker around that time? It sounds scary, I imagine that this might have taken a toll on him and possibly played a role in how closed off he appears now.
Yeah, I mean the timelines of everything is really confusing. Also, ahead of that, Oct 2023 was super scary when he got into that car accident too.
I've spoken about this in regards to other things but I really feel like in an effort to feel safe and protect himself, everything has become so micromanaged and highly controlled that there has been this really bizarre decline and blur of what's real and what's fake...
And to be clear, I don't mean the stalker, that's so incredibly scary and sad. That's so wrong, I can't even begin to get into that.
I just mean, he's really fucking famous. Like in the instagram era I think it gets overlooked but it's not normal to have 12 million people, not only know your name, but they follow YOU specifically. Follow you for news and updates, and pictures of your life.
And I know I probably sound like a broken record now but Trent's really reserved and even if he "likes" fame there is a degree of celebrity where you're not being treated like a human anymore.
His entire life from age 18 has been scheduled for him. And he can't change that, that's his job. But people exploit their access to information, and more specifically his life. (I say this with a grain a salt as obviously I'm a fan fic writer for him but that's kind of the point. There is a line there. It's very clear this is not real.) But it's so beyond real and scary that people can just google his house, they know Saturday March 8th at whatever time, Trent will be at Anfield, He drives X car, his number plate... things like that. That's fucking mental. And none of that he can control. I said the other day, the pitch is probably where he feels the most safe because like he's said, he can make mistakes there, take risks, be himself.
Off the pitch it's like a war zone. One random like on instagram, one sentance in an interview, one photo with the "wrong" person, one facial expression in a video... It's just a fucking live wire all the time.
Also, it happens everywhere but it's especially picking up so much in US sports right now where people are robbing athletes homes while they are at away games because it's published public information. We know Trent is in Paris on March 5th and he cannot be at home that night. That must change you when that's your reality. My heart aches in interviews when anyone in the public eye brings up how their life hurts their families. Like how scary to go do your job on a random Wednesday in March and you have to worry about the safety of your family, because people are that crazy...
And while I think it's insane that he does pap pics now, I also think it's a defensive tactic. He feeds the beast and attempts to dictate what the information being published about him is - whether or not I think he does that well or not is besides the point.
So my presumption is that in an effort to take back some of the control he's lost due to this meteoric fame, whomever decided if they remove everything, strip it all back, not even leaving in the jokes, personality essentially drained and instead then dole out only the things they deem as "good" or "approved," then that's the only thing media/ people can have from his life.
And a part of me thinks Trent isn't bothered by that change because he still reaps the benefits. He still gets to do his job, he still gets the money, he still does the photoshoots... And in regards to those and things like that (photoshoots,) we just have no idea they even happen anymore because he goes that radio silent. He seems to be naturally introverted so this isn't exactly a hard pivot to make. And you could argue well, no he probably is highly bothered by the fact that the general public can be so crazy that you have a stalker showing up at your house and I'd say Yes, I agree but it's also the only reality he has.
He doesn't know a life outside of the public eye. Not as an adult. He was in a Champions League final at 19... Thats 400 million people watching you.
It makes me feel really uneasy when I deep what the reality is.

It’s shit like this that INFURIATES me…
Like what do you mean 2 years??? He’s spoken about the club plenty of times this season; about playing under Slot, ambitions for the season. But regarding the contract, it’s out of his hands what happens. Trent, as a player cannot stay at Liverpool nor go anywhere else unless the club and his agent sort a contract. HE cannot decide what happens. Just the same that HE did not choose to be vice captain, Klopp made him VC.
While I agree as vice captain he should do more than he does, his silence often agitates me but he’s also very much so damned if you do, damned if you don’t
Even so….
An interview on JANUARY 24th 2025 ???? But yeah, he never does them 🙄

you're on, and you're going fifth" for penalties and Trent's talking about manifestation?... NO, hun, you're getting fucked over!
//
exactly!!! the fact that he didn’t realise this makes me so sad. like yes of course it worked in his favour but at the same time he was thrown to the wolves for the protection of other players. it wasn’t fair.
i loved your analysis and agree. no matter how strong you are, there’s not a chance in hell you go through what he went through in late 2022 with the media and not get essentially traumatised from it (as much as he is adamant that those times weren’t “dark” for him). the only people that have protected him have been klopp and liverpool fans, period, but on a large scale even that makes little to no difference.
I feel like he does know...
Let me be a little bit more parasocial about this. I really don't think Trent's dumb, but I also don't think his personality type fits his environment.
Sometimes people's emotions get really disregulated and I think he has had his emotions invalidated. And I don't mean that in like 'he can't control his emotions' I mean identifying and understanding his own emotions correctly. So much of his life is defined my performance results. If he won or if he lost. Everything in between isn't talked about. (sure, at home maybe, but even so)
Now, I don't know this man but let me just give you my opinion from an outside perspective as someone who has followed his career, and has watched him for years in turn...
I truly believe he's a reserved, introverted person; he's quiet, laidback, likes time alone. And that doesn't mean he doesn't like his people, or going out, doing things, but he very clearly has stated this. He likes to be alone. There's the Therabody video where he's like "I need to be alone after matches" or just recently Mo was like "well Tent can be moody and quiet so he usually listens while Andy talks." Also, he's notoriously cliquey, and I think it's a safeguarding thing; people he can be comfortable with and feel protected with.
He doesn't have a great attention span, he's very fidgety; like licking his lips, pulling his sleeves over his hands, but I think it's because he's very attuned to his surroundings. You can see he's very "aware" even in the style at which he plays. He's also very meticulous when it comes to "fitting in."
He's very good with people, people always say how polite he is, he's very keen to "please" others. But in my opinion, he's had to do this. It's just human preservation, this is 0 shade to him. It's life conditioning. We all do it, some though, more extreme than others.
And then you take someone who, even with all the travel of playing football for a big club, he still hasn't had to leave his home town, he had grown up in Melwood, a place he lived 10 minutes from, and becoming an adult was what? When they moved to AXA and he got his own house probably 30 min max from his family, and drove himself there? Like, nothing changed environmentally for him. Same manager, same family, same friends, same surroundings. (And I'm not saying he's not well versed in the world)
I know with playing football he's not "home" often but consider something like, birthdays. He's said, he rarely gets to spend his birthday with his family and as hard as that probably is, he also has the continuity of knowing that it has been like that since he was in his early teens. He's comfortable with that because every time, he's had the same people around him for that, in the same places.
So with all that said, at 18 you take someone whose a clear creature of comfort, thrust him into this spotlight where he knows nothing, the only thing he can do is rely on the people around him, fall to this "PR," what people have told him, he's supposed to say, what to do, where to go. The reason imo he even goes to LA is simply because Dele and Jesse Lingard used to go. He is looking to follow suit for safety. I'm sure he likes it, yeah it's fun, but he's said, he also likes the anonymity of going to America.
And I think for an innately reserved person, his body is constantly in abnormally high intensity, and highly spectated situations. It's not "normal" for a human being to know that almost 12 million people are looking at you, and to be able to manage that. That's not what humans were built to endure.
Sometimes I've seen people say in his demeanor he looks rude or he's disinterested, and while, sure maybe that's true some times and it could be down to his resting face, I think often it looks to me like an innate response, his body is telling him "I don't like this, I don't like this." And he's telling himself, yes do because his mind is very hell bent that he does like "this." And those things can coexist but it's very evidently not addressed. It's incredibly invalidating to do that to yourself but also incredibly common.
I think he’s a highly sensitive person. It’s a trait not 'sensitive' just as an adjective. Some key markers 1.He notices everything, he processes information so well. When he speaks you can hear it. 2. He needs or likes down time. After big exertions, he wants to just chill at home. (I’m going off what he says he does ) 3. He has high intensity emotions, like he is the worst loser… but he also is the worst winner. 4. He’s really doesn’t like to be made fun of. He seems to worry so much about perception and in addition to that he will not let himself get embarrassed, it’s too vulnerable. 5. He's really empathetic to others. He's very close with his family, he created the after academy after seeing what happened to people around him after not making it.
So whether it's "PR" or it's his surroundings, constantly being around groups of boys that are all incredibly likeminded, he has to cling to one of those things and follow suit. It's the only way through all this.
I kid you not, before any footballer's interview, save some, as long as it's in english I could probably tell you exactly what they're going to say. I know what Trent will say in every interview now because it's a script. It's a script he can't stray from.
This isn't to say he lacks personality, I think he does have a personality, and there are so many people, players, staff, friends and family members that have spoken about how lovable and amazing he is. But I think he's stripped of a sense of self when he's in front of a camera now.
All this to say, with everything stacked against him as is, as far as his England NT career, he can't say shit about SG. In his opinion, it was safest not to.
These players can say it doesn't affect them, and to a degree, I'm sure that's true, but at a higher level, I think it's because they don't know it affects them and their environments are telling them, "It doesn't affect you," "it doesn't matter," "block it out," "just don't read it."
When in reality... This is a human being and not only that. He was 18 YEARS OLD in a champions league final. Your brain is not fully developed, not until your mid-to-late 20s... and he just turned 26 so tell me this person is not dealing with some sort of hurt about the possibility of the one constant in his life, the thing keeping him tethered to the comfort of his community, not caring about him- letting him go for free. He's not betraying them! They've betrayed him.
I'm sure there's a big part of him that is excited and wants to go to Madrid, he'll do great but as a young person, there must be equal amount of fear and sadness about leaving his home.
I really feel like in 20 years time we will have documentaries about the mental health of these players. It's so scary and sad to me and so that's why all of this is so insane to me.
Is this over analytical? Yes, massively. Is it boarderline delusional? Also yes. I know I don't know this man! Even so, I still feel like a lot of this is so obviously out in the open. But like many athletes, he's merely a walking money sign to media, to clubs, and sadly, to a lot of people.
End of, I just have a lot of empathy for him, because I think he carries a lot, whether or not he acknowledges it's there or not.
Like I said, I don't know him, this all very well could roll off his back and he be completely okay. And for him, I honestly hope that's the case.

why would they say it like that 😭
Can I be so real right now and say something mildly parasocial? I see a flicker of sadness. He coughs a bit which isn't normally a part of his vocal disfluencies.
Also, I saw this float around twitter yesterday, just want to clarify that the interview was posted two months ago... So mid-December time, and probably filmed a bit before that.
I think he was doing mental maths thinking how can I carve my name into this club another way and then he falls back into his normal cheek. But frankly, I think it's really sad.
If you want a rant... you're in for a treat...
I have a lot of thoughts about his contract specifically I can share but in short, I think it's been mismanaged from both sides. That said, besides that, so many people continually attack him for his lack of media presence as we get closer to the summer and I've criticized him at times too. But in reality, he's done interviews, he has. Case in point this video circulating now. I made a post about why does he even do work with brands if it's not promoted, this is the same. He does so much and yet it's NEVER covered unless it's something headline worthy like the ballon d'or answer he gave.
He even does pre and post match interviews if you tune into LFC, but people say he hasn't. All his interviews have just been in highly controlled environments. Written word only sometimes.
I truly believe these interviews hurt him, that it's is painful to do.
You can say I'm reading into it and that's fine but you cannot pull up an interview of his from 2021 and tell me that that person and this one have the same spirit. And I say spirit, not attitude. He’s always been laidback so I don’t buy the whole "he doesn't care anymore." No, he genuinely looks sad to me and it's a byproduct of what has transpired not on the pitch, but off it, where he has the least control....
His career has been so mismanaged, and while yes, he is at fault partially, he also isn't the professional in the media field. It must actually pain him that everyone throws stats at him and yet still creates a narrative that it's not enough. And as someone who is so competitive like Trent, so eager for acceptance, approval, and accolades, it must kill him. They drag him in the media anyway, no matter the numbers. If you look at some stats now, it's closer to 90 now for Liverpool but people on twitter or even as legit sources as BBC say "well he doesn't do interviews and won't sign so he's greedy and leaving his boyhood club to go to Madrid." The 90 contributions don't matter. It's not enough. The narrative shouldn't be him leaving his boyhood club.... Yes, that part is heartbreaking but it's also circumstantially WHY. It's the fact that an ENGLISH footballer has been exploited to the point where his own club won't even pay what he merits after winning everything for them so his hands been pushed to move to Spain. Any shouts for the FA? Because loosing yet another home grown talent to another league is mental.
And the criticism is only going to get worse for Trent when he leaves unfortunately... I don't know if you've seen the other trending video this week of some Madrid fans saying Trent is "only known for one corner, the rest had been bad defending, fluke free kicks and he's overrated." Liverpool fans now saying "they don't need him, after winning the lot for the city, Bradley is better anyway."
With this type of things happening to him for years, I raise this- For example sake, when Jude came out and said he stopped doing press when the media was bothering, hurting his family, is this any different? Not really. Because the media is hurting HIM. And not only does the gp of the internet but the likes of Sky Sports tear into him every weekend and pile on tenfold on their podcasts and then expect him to show face when even his own club won't help him... Why would he subject himself to that?
I'm at a loss honestly....
He's an individual but he's also an individual a part of a club, a team, an agency, a country's association that I think do a very poor job at supporting him, backing him, and honestly, I rarely have seen anyone ever come to protect him besides Klopp. In fact, more often than not, they shove him in front of the cameras when things get shit and it's actually jarring. This Euros was one of the few times I've seen another England player, bar LFC boys, compliment Trent on something other than just passing, but rather as a player and a total package, a value and asset to the team- thanks bestie Jude. But it shouldn't have taken 8 years of his career to get that. Like after that penalty... if that wasn't the most blatant "I don't give a fuck, let me protect phil foden." decision I don't know what was.
This interview is heart wrenching. You're telling me, a man that has won it all, most assist for a prem deffender EVER, not only was played out of position, has been easily passed in caps by someone 5 years his junior, only had his immediate family and a 21 year old to confide in that to and find support in... Like his manager relishing in the glory of deploying Trent as a midfielder to create buzz and hook him, and use him and it as a distraction for yet another tournament he'd fuck up says to Trent "you're on, and you're going fifth" for penalties and Trent's talking about manifestation?... NO, hun, you're getting fucked over!
My biases aside, end of the day, I often worry about footballer's mental health. Trent, I think is an oddity that has managed this abnormally well all things considered. In reality, if he didn't have the silverware, I think he would've gotten spat back out. And I say that not to dismiss his talent or hard work but simply because of the sheer agenda against him from the jump.
I think of his England career and wonder if the likes of SG had no choice other than putting him in the squad because how would it look for the England team to not include a player who was in 'The English PFA Team of the Year' the year leading into that world cup? Bad. And yet, someone regarded as the best in the league, was never utilized. Instead we watched him get torched in the media with interrogation type interviews and sent to be in Qatar for two months only to play 30 minutes of football. Like that is so mental to me.
I've heard the likes of Gary Neville say "oh if he played for another country he'd be so valued..." that is the most disrespectful thing to me because he doesn't play for another country. He plays for his country and for a club in that country and is at the top of record books in England and in the world and they still go after him. I know I talk about salaries facetiously sometimes but no money, no lifestyle or holidays makes this mildly comfortable mentally to live with that being said about you. It just doesn't.
Personally, that is what I think triggered the shift. I made a post the other day making light of it because yes, he was looking mighty good ahead of and after the WC, but frankly, they destroyed him. There is so much content out there pre world cup of Trent talking about ambitions, even down to things like discussing fashion, music and hair, and then we flash to now... he looks scared on camera half the time. His environment and “support systems” passively devalued him and the only way he can try to get a handle on what's said now is to try to be the one controlling the narrative because he makes headlines when he breaths. It's the only option, good or bad, done well or the way he does it now, it wouldn't matter.
He didn't have a fall off like Marcus has had, but he also hasn't had the limelight the way someone like Jude has been having. He is text book damned it you do, damned if you don't. And I bet that eats at him to be threatened so greatly by your own self... when every bone in your body is full of self belief, confidence, and competitiveness and yet the very system you want to thrive in dismantles your efforts.
There are many points I didn't cover in a discussion like this and I didn't touch on maybe some of his faults and things like ego and regrets and their involvement but as an empathetic person, who really cares for this player, I just wanted to cover what I felt like has created such a sad situation in my opinion.

Girl don’t you find it sus month ago when talking about the Preds it was Gerard Gerard Gerard and now it’s Zidane and Beckham (rm players)
I get what you’re saying and this is not at you specifically so all love but…
Firstly, he shot this content way back in December. The first video from this came out then so potentially he could’ve shot it even before, maybe November.
Secondly, this specific video (despite this being a full series with him that’s been rolling out since DEC, which people are ignoring) coming out NOW is baiting people… it’s only because Trent is so heavily scrutinized and because of the contract situation that this is a big deal.
But moreover, those two names are written on every manufactured boot. Trent didn’t choose those players. Zidane is marketing these boots. (See below) Gerard is not apart of this specific boot launch nor the preds campaign adidas has created at all. Go to their account or ProDirect. He’s not apart of the launch’s conversation.
But even so! Trent has brought Gerard up in other videos. That’s what means something because he’s even not apart of the campaign but he matters to Trent! Where as Beckham and Zidane are this of the rerelease.
This is what I was speaking about yesterday the boy can’t open his mouth without people saying it means something or it’s wrong. Like I’m at a loss today on the internet with the way people react to him.
He’s said one of his favorite players of all time is thierry henry and said he’s the player he’d most want to play with this year - but has anyone once ever said omg Trent’s going to Barcelona or Arsenal … no.
He’s always said and always has been connected with David Beckham given their ability in the ball being similar. When he wore the specific Adidas Predator x David Beckham boots back in November was that “OMG he’s definitely going to Madrid!!!” No, they’re boots. He’s wearing football boots, he’s promoting football boots because he’s a footballer.
People complain about him not doing media but like when he does everyone loses their minds over it.
Also, to be clear- these are the boots that are specifically about Zidane and Beckham.

The worst part about him leaving is the fact he’s hiding. You spend the last season hiding from us… almost every player told us how much they love the club this season: virg, Mo, Ibou, macca, harvey etc. even nuñez tells us he wants to give everything until the last day and he knows we’re done with him. But nothing from the scouser in our team.
He handles the situation horribly if you ask me.
I think he has mismanaged the situation. I agree. Trent in the past has been incredibly vocal about his desire for this teams ambitions.
That said, I have a few thoughts to elaborate a bit more but none of which make me feel any less annoyed about it but just figured I'd share...
Trent personally doesn't decide what interviews he does. While yes, he is a player and an adult and he probably has a heavy hand in saying no, or could push to say yes... There also likely is a whole team (more than just singular Tyler) saying just don't. Past 2-3 years, he's fallen into very heavy media trained speaking. He also has a lot more at stake than Virgil and Mo. I've done a lot of posts about this difference so I don't want to be redundant but they're under either #footy chats with fie or #fie's filosophy on my blog.
Still, he should be doing more media. You're correct. I've criticized this as well.
We can't ignore that he has done some, though it's diminished into less and less in the last month. He's just not feeding news outlets with his words to be twisted. All his interviews have just been in highly controlled environments. Written word only sometimes. But I don’t like the retraction from the media.
I answered an anon the other day and it feels relevant to reshare this
"You cannot pull up an interview of his from 2021 and tell me that that person and this one have the same spirit. And I say spirit, not attitude. He’s always been laidback so I don’t buy the whole "he doesn't care anymore." No, he genuinely looks afraid to me now in interviews and it's a byproduct of what has transpired not on the pitch, but off it, where he has the least control....
His change from "local lad" to paparazzi calling, ducking interviews, isn't the player I love, and I won't ever endorse that evolution. I'm not excluding him from fault but I think this change came from how poorly managed his entire career has been...
I really think if we win anything this season he’ll regret not doing interviews and being present in the media for it. But he isn't any less apart of this team, nor club's history, because he isn't speaking to SkySports now.
It makes me sad when I see videos, even like the 'Wingman' series with Robbo. It sounds cliche but it feels like the light has gone out inside him. He has been so abused and attacked by media, everything he does now has to be controlled and set up. It's sad to me. He says one line in any interview and it is talked about, not for months... years.
It doesn't excuse him not doing it, especially as a vice captain, because I'd prefer if he was braver about potentially the last couple months of wearing the badge but I do think there is a larger reason at play than him just "not caring"
He still has given us a lot of years of fantastic football, memories, trophies, and I won't hate him because he gave me those, but it is hard to watch him fade out.

Why has T stoped posting on insta whenever we win??? He hasn’t done it for a few games now
For me, I'll be honest, it's not like we're look at someone who has ever posted on social media all that much.
That said, he doesn’t seem to have much of a social media management plan which I find odd. A lot of players now have moved to posting graphics ahead of games, or after posting photos... he does, he doesn't, he'll share his personal life then go radio silent for months, he'll post for a brand partnership, then never again... No consistency
I think it stemmed from trying to be authentic, and going with what felt right but rolled into something completely irregular and creating a silence that invites more criticism.
Still, this year he’s completely off the grid He gets flamed anytime he does anything so one part of me tinks fine, as long as he shows up on the pitch, great. Another part of me is like ????? Erm support your fucking club.
All that said, I really don’t think it’s a case of 'oh his heads already in Madrid he doesn’t care,' the way people make it out to be. I don’t really think it involves them, I think it’s just his current situation
He doesn’t want another "hungry for more" situation iykwim. For like 2 years now he barely does captions at all.
I've spoken about his person a lot lately, but I just don't think he wants to open himself up for that criticism, and analysis but in doing so, when he does post, it's looked at even more closely. Now it appears as if he's hiding or he only cares about the "zidane adidas boots" because he hasn't made movement anywhere else on the internet.
Stepping on his own toes imo but damned if you do, damned if you don't

i’d love to say he will be treated better in madrid, but asides from salary, i know he won’t. they’ll deny it to the death but madridstas are quite literally amongst the only fan bases i know to actually abuse their own players. look at how they treated kylian fucking mbappe for crying out loud. one mistake and i know they will try and rip trent to shreds and i’m not ready for it tbh.
I'm going to be careful here because I don't really want to upset anyone... I am not a Madrid fan so to be clear, this is said as an outsider and with zero animosity.
Yeah, I mean the way they have spoken about Kylian fucking Mbappe, and then Jude, and don't get me started about the way they treat Aurélien. (His comment section on instagram after games is one of the most disgusting, sad things I've ever seen.)
With all that in mind, yeah, I do agree. To be honest, I think it's going to be brutal for him, much worse in fact. Perform well or not, win trophies or not, he will be looked at so closely because his position was previously held by a very talented and reliable but white Spanish player who has a very different play style to his, who came 4th in the Ballon D'or only behind 2 other Madrid players, and another Spaniard. And in addition to that, Trent has now stated he wants to win that (ammunition is already being loaded there.) He'll also be a foreigner in the league and he's black.
Yes, there are highs and lows of fans responses to players at any club. This is not me attacking Madrid fans in any sense or making assumptions. Every club has its woes. So please don't come for me. I'm just laying out the circumstances and situation he'd be walking into. Especially considering that Trent's relationship with that club is a really really strained one already. In the past, Trent has been flamed by some Madrid fans for his ability an opposition player.
Some Madrid fans stand that they have a concrete reason as to WHY they don't think he's good enough for their club. That CL final against Madrid was the origin of Trent "can't defend." And no matter how he performs, one error and it always kicks off in the media. Yet it goes silent when he defends well so tbf if Madrid fans don't follow the Prem, that's what you're reading about him. You never read about him locking up rafael leão, no, you read about performances like the Man United game. He's going into a place that already has a preconceived notion of him. And the criticism is only going to get worse because his errors (he's human they'll happen) will not have any grace or redemption. They've seen his errors loose a trophy before. (Albeit, that was never entirely his fault but in some fans eyes, yes, it was Trent's defensive performance against vini)
Even now, since it's such a high probability, during our games this year, when I'm on twitter and go search 'Alexander Arnold' or 'Trent' it's filled to the brim with new people, Madrid fans now analyzing his flaws, tweeting about him often saying he's not good enough for them, a liability etc... and he's not even there yet.
So godspeed, baby.
Again, this is not against Madrid fans, this is like ANY club, not ALL fans are unanimous in opinion, action and in words.
xx FIE

this is so in depth, detailed, honest and well thought out. of course none of us really know him, but i agree that this type of lifestyle isn’t normal for anyone and sometimes normality in abnormality forces us to convince ourselves that what we’re going through is okay. the problem is, the fact that he carries this load well doesn’t mean it’s not heavy, i just hope it doesn’t pile up and become too much for him… this is why therapy for men is so important because it helps to regulate emotions and offload things/ traumas you didn’t even know you were carrying. his life has been under constant scrutiny since he was a teenager, tell me seriously that doesn’t fuck someone up :/
I really feel like he experiences a situation where he's told "look how lucky you are! how accomplished you are! how much money you make!" and yet... it doesn't feel like enough to him, and that creates guilt because there's always more he wants. And he wants more, even if he doesn't feel quite comfortable in this space but because he's told it's SO amazing, and he's through the door, he has to do it.
There are so many marketing things I think he could have done that played into 'local lad' but instead, he was told or he decided "I want to do what everyone else is doing." Because the stone was already laid but he's not that. It doesn't come naturally to him. Not every baller has to be on FootballerFits. People fell in love with him for authenticity and I think the 'machine of football' took that from him, whether or not he knows that happened or not.
If you'd like another tangent covering somethings you didn't ask about...
Something I think is interesting to me is people say he clings to Jude, or wants what he has. And while maybe there is truth in it, I don't know either but from what we see; one is incredibly more outgoing than the other. Not outgoing in a "loud" way like most would assume, no, in a "I'll put on a funny wig for a video." Trent won't do that. He won't put himself in a situation to be made fun of. So I don't think Trent is envious at all. Not actually. But therein lies the problem, his teams of acceptance of what he's comfortable with, it translates in terms of how he is handled within media because it's seen as a flaw in him. Either they push him or he pushes himself and it doesn't work the same.
But also, when it comes to him and Jude, something that feels obvious to me is this- the little we know about him, I do think Jude, is very very similar to Trent's younger brother. Age wise, upbringing, humor, and again the little we've seen, Marcel seems much more outgoing, willing to joke. And he's someone who Trent very clearly brings everywhere. It is safety and a comfort level to have him around. And so like I said, if he no longer has birthdays at home? Guess who has at every England camp. Who will speak up. Who will joke around. That's not his friend (I mean it is) but my point is, Jude is a brother figure to him. And it goes both ways. They both are equi-dependent. Jokes aside.
Trent and Jude are incredibly similar in terms of shared experiences and understanding of what this all must feel like. Because I'll be honest, Yes, Aaron Ramsdale may be one of his closest footballer friends but he also is white, married, with a baby. Aaron, who's not played at the same height and with the scrutiny Trent faces isn't the same as Jude, who knows what that feels like. Hendo, madders, ant gordon... same grouping of friends.
And yet, someone who provides him familiarity like Jude, becomes another addition to the long list of things used as ammunition against him.
And this isn't to disregard that this is an adult male. He takes some responsibility in all this and I am in no way saying "oh poor baby."
But he's an 'adult' in a very bizarre circumstance. He didn't have to do higher education, in a class room setting, he hasn't had peers consistently be his age- developmentally that changes things, he didn't have to be around women as classmates or co-workers... things are done for him, and there's no fault in any of this, that is his environment but it's an environment that so few live and from the outside, it is seen simply as a luxury but to him, that's all he knows.
He's had one singular place act as school, work, play, family- his entire life. So when people say "he's greedy" when it comes to his contract- I say for what? I would answer to be compensated for the time he has dedicated to the club but it's much much bigger than that. While he receives perks, yes, he has sacrificed his person for that club. He is not Trent. Not anymore, not ever again. He is
Trent John Alexander-Arnold is an English professional footballer who plays as a right-back or midfielder for Premier League club Liverpool and the England national team.
No one in his family has a normal life now because of his dedication to club and country.
If you asked my dad, "Do you want to make Trent Alexander-Arnold's salary, not have had to pay for degrees and worked in corporate offices, go to the gym instead and play footie everyday, and win the champions league for Liverpool" Not a second of deliberation. It's easy. It's so easy for us, people, to say "what" he doesn't care about anymore, or envy "what" he has, but it's about quality not quantity. And I'm not sure how I'd cope if people called me the things they've called him even if I read it from the comfort of the newest G Wagon and what that exchange rate is like in everyday life must change someone especially one who's introverted naturally.
Yet all of this, money, attention, access, in his line of work comes with a lot of social expectation that I don't really feel fits his innate being. Do I think we evolve as people, yes. Our tastes expand as we are exposed to things. We adjust to what's expected of us, sure.
Still, while I don't think 17 year old Trent would be keen on doing some of these things, in retrospect if you said to that boy, if you do these things you don't like.... in return you get the ALL the things you've always dreamed of. A champions league, an iconic moment that is written in the history books of the sport, winning the prem in your city, playing in world cups, the euros, smashing records, millions of followers, your own boot, a chant at Anfield. He'd accept it, the same way my dad would, but he'd probably be faster because he was that hungry for it.
But what's incredibly bittersweet is while I think that is all 1000% what he wanted, if not more than, I think the brutal realities of what that cost him... is actually something so grim, you almost can't talk about it. You have to ignore it. It's like how do you even address something like that, like the shift in your mental being. How do you ever address it, even with yourself, without having an inner critic saying "oh you're upset people on twitter are telling you to fuck off? You have the champions league medal in your house." "You're upset they said you're shite? You make 180k a week."
I heard Paddy the Baddy this months say he'd kill for what Trent has in that city. What he has and has achieved is so astronomical in terms of success and I think there is a hate that comes towards him from a place of envy beyond money. Case in point, Paddy has money. And so when Trent missteps, it's not just about the shit pass, it's everything. It's Him. And I can't help but imagine, Trent looking at the onslaught and wondering, "what did I do wrong..." He's stayed objectively, in his lane, kept to himself.
And i'll be so real, I'm not sure medals and a career that has a shelf life is worth what that must does to someone's psyche. Not to me, but he committed to it, and succeeded getting there, so he can't do anything about the harsh reality of it now. Even though it's like 1% of the world that gets to be a professional footballer, it was his dream and he's not going to complain while everyone else is doing it just the same.
But that's the thing I think he doesn't grasp well from an outside perspective- no one else is him. His career is so abnormal. He has so much stacked against him. (Scouse not English alone is a hill and he's got mountains behind that one.) and yet he moves like he's supposed to act the same way the others do, but he's not them.
With that in mind, what's incredibly strange and sad to me is when I say his career has been mismanaged, unfortunately, his career...
is his life.

Agree with literally everything you say that WC really ruined a lot for him im still mad abt that, everyone is like “why would he wanna leave” literally why would he wanna stay when no one stands up for him or support him?!? And DONT even get me started on those stupid England NT interviews when they would interrogate him and ask him a bunch of stupid questions abt his defending omf those videos are insane ugh im so mad and so sad for him i can’t even imagine how that felt
That world cup makes me nauseous to think about. I have a lot of reasons WHY he would want and think he should stay but it's not lost on me the very blatant reasons he should go.
Those England NT interviews are crazy to me. Mostly because you are not his caliber of fame, and do not have the questions reviewed being asked ahead of you sitting down. These players are PR trained and yet England attacked him ruthlessly. The "I think there's been a massive spotlight on it" interview makes me sick.
And when they asked SG about him he said well he's not KALVIN PHILLIPS?!? Please...
More thoughts if you want a rant...
But I'm sad for him because as I said in my last post... It's not going to get better if he goes abroad. Their media will attack him just the same if not worse. Layer on top of that he'll be a foreigner in the league and black... it's not looking brighter ahead. I can't imagine if he goes, how England will receive him for international team play...
The odds are stacked; let's just say if he goes- you're telling me English fans won't attack him just the same, likely even more so after he left England to play, he's scouse, played for liverpool, "betrayed" his boyhood club, is a "defensive liability," and is black....
Godspeed, Trenty baby.

Alright Trent that pass was sexy
That pass was chefs kiss… but once again our finishing has been shit. The past couple games have been abysmal.
But 3 games in 7 days, we’re not winning this game. We’re so leggy and tired and FSG doesn’t support us so our bench is weak and Villa just started picking up form and strong players. (I know they have a few injuries but they also have signed players)
Pet fucking peeve when reactionary twitter goes after Trent telling him to “fuck off and leave already” well thing is….
There’s 6 other players on the pitch who statistically played worse that half.

Also, people will say their goal came from his side… the thing is, this entire season on set pieces he hasn’t been in the holding line, he’s been the one to go out and press so we can counter so he went to the position for that, as Arne has directed this year BUT the left side AGAIN didn’t deal with it, so he’s caught out and Virg didn’t clear for the second goal.
