Let's see, the ever complex joy of figuring what the fuck is going on with Homestuck.

Humans... easy. Four letter first name, six letter last name. That is IT.

Cherubs... we only know two so this is speculation, but Caliborn and Calliope both start with c and are eight letters long.

Leprechauns are also easy I suppose. One word names that have a theme. Could be a number, a weapon, or a power. That's it.

A little less easy, the carapacians. Two word names, first word descriptive, second word noun (with Ac emotions of the midnight crew). Wayward Vagabond. White Queen.

The names can change, but the initials will always be the same. Parcel Mistress because Peregrine Mendicant, Authority Regulator to Aimless Rengade.

Then we have trolls... AND HOLY FUCKING SHIT WHY ARE THESE NAMES USUALLY SO FUCKING COMPLEX?!?!?!

The easy part is when a troll is young, their name is Six-Six. Karkat Vantas, Vriska Serket, and Meenah Peixes.

The name "Eridan Ampora" was suggested by a composer for Tenebrais. "Eridan" comes from the Eridanos river, poured from Aquarius' urn. "Ampora" comes from amphora, a Greek container used for holding water.

"Feferi" was suggested by [X-Rok] and "Peixes" was suggested by Zuki. Her first name comes from Metasepia pfefferi, a poisonous species of cuttlefish. Her first name could also come from Feri, which is a form of traditional witchcraft - this is of note because she is the Witch of Life. Her last name is the Portuguese name for Pisces (as well as the Portuguese word for fish (plural)), and can be pronounced PAY-shes [citation needed]. Her name could also come from fairy and pixie, mythical figures associated with feminine attributes such as the natural element of water.

"Equius" was suggested by Angetaro. "Zahhak" was suggested by nextian. Equius takes its root from the Latin equus, meaning horse. It may also be in reference to the play Equus, in which a boy discovers his sexual affinity towards horses. This would explain Equius' almost unhealthy obsession for anything relating to hoofbeasts. Equus can also be a variation of "calm" in Latin [citation needed], which would be ironic considering the fact that Equius has a habit of going on rages. His first name could also come from the constellation Equueleus, equuleus meaning little horse in Latin.

Zahhak is a figure in Iranian mythology, who was strong and clever, but was easily manipulated by his evil counselors into world domination. Zahhak was also known as Bēvar-Asp, which translates into "[he who has] 10,000 horses" (10,000 being equal to 100²).

The Spanish name of the letter X is also equis, though it may also be a reference to the cross shape at the lower end of his sign. This word also ties into his aspect, void, in that equis is slang for something ordinary or unimpressive.

I do not blame you if you didn't read any of that. But yeah, the main cast all have names that mean something, and sometimes up to three separate concepts AT ONCE.

And then, when they grow up, it gets easy again. With the acception of The Grand Highblood, all names are eight letters minus the words like 'her' and 'the'. Her Imperial Condesce, The Signless, Redglare, and Mindfang.

So basically everything is REALLY simple except young trolls for some fucking reason. Don't get me wrong I appreciate clever etymology, but holy shit y'all.
