The first major solo museum presentation of fourth-generation Navajo weaver Melissa Cody (b. 1983, No Water Mesa, Arizona) spans the last decade of her practice, showcasing over 30 weavings and a major new work produced for the exhibition. Using long-established weaving techniques and incorporating new digital technologies, Cody assembles and reimagines popular patterns into sophisticated geometric overlays, incorporating atypical dyes and fibers. Her tapestries carry forward the methods of Navajo Germantown weaving, which developed out of the wool and blankets that were made in Germantown, Pennsylvania and supplied by the US government to the Navajo people during the forced expulsion from their territories in the mid-1800s. During this period, the rationed blankets were taken apart and the yarn was used to make new textiles, a practice of reclamation which became the source of the movement. While acknowledging this history and working on a traditional Navajo loom, Cody’s masterful works exercise experimental palettes and patterns that animate through reinvention, reframing traditions as cycles of evolution. Melissa Cody is a Navajo/Diné textile artist and enrolled member of the Navajo/Diné nation. Cody grew up on a Navajo Reservation in Leupp, Arizona and received a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Arts and Museum Studies from Institute of American Indian Arts, Santa Fe. Her work has been featured in The Barnes Foundation, Philadelphia (2022); Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Bentonville, AR (2021); National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa (2019–2020); Museum of Northern Arizona, Flagstaff (2019); SITE Santa Fe (2018–19); Ingham Chapman Gallery, University of New Mexico, Albuquerque (2018); Navajo Nation Museum, Window Rock (2018); and the Museum of Contemporary Native Arts, Institute of American Indian Arts, Santa Fe (2017–18). Cody’s works are in the collections of the Stark Museum of Art, Orange, Texas; the Minneapolis Institute of Arts; and The Autry National Center, Los Angeles. In 2020, she earned the Brandford/Elliott Award for Excellence in Fiber Art.

I always find it so funny with Andre how this year he's had 2 "home" races being Spa and Fuji and people who don't know him will assume he's either Belgium or Japanese. However he's German.
I also think maybe in like 2018/19 when he was in Fe and doing WEC he had maybe 4 home races, Spa, Fuji, Monaco and Berlin. But I guarantee that he would rather be in Spa or Fuji (or actually anywhere in Japan) for his home race rather than Germany. Honestly I think Kevin should call Nurburgring his home race for the amount of times he's driving something there 😭

Women take the lead during the Revo’. This successful part of the Revolution continues today
Before its sighting in 1498 by that well-known charity benefactor, Christopher Columbus, Grenada was inhabited by the Caribs, who had invaded and killed the previous inhabitant, the Arawaks. The name given to Grenada by the Arawaks was believed to be Ciboney.  The Caribs resisted European domination for more than one hundred years after being sighted by Columbus.
From the earliest European settlement in Grenada, enslaved Africans were kidnapped to Grenada. Contrary to popular Western culture the Africans resisted their capture. In Grenada, this manifested in numerous revolts, including the Fédon rebellion of March 1795.
Fédon was influenced by the ideas emerging from the French Revolution, especially the Convention’s abolition of slavery in 1794. Fédon stated that he intended to make Grenada a “Black Republic just like Haiti”. Fédon and his revolutionaries controlled most of Grenada between 1795 and June 1796. Over 14,000 of Grenada’s 28,000 enslaved Africans joined the revolutionary forces in order to write their own emancipation and transform themselves into “citizens”. However, more than 7,000 of these freedom fighters perished in the fight for independence.
Although enslavement was “abolished” in 1834 the plight of Grenada’s African population remained relatively unchanged until the 1951 “revolution” of Eric Gairy. Gairy had limited success in weakening the control that Britain had over the island, leading to independence in February 1974. Independence under Gairy was, for the people of Grenada, a mirage as Gairy did not have the ability or vision to take the people beyond the fight for independence.
Notwithstanding his incompetence, Gairy tried to retain power despite his loss of popularity. He used extreme violence to keep control but was overthrown by a popular revolution on 13 March 1979 by the New Jewel Movement (NJM), led by Maurice Bishop.
The Peoples Revolutionary Government formed after the Revolution (Revo’) embarked on a wide-ranging series of social, economic and educational plans, which brought great and tangible benefits to the people of Grenada.
In 1983 tensions within the NJM led to the collapse of the Revo’, culminating in the killing of Maurice Bishop and others close to him on 19 October of that year. The United States, which had, under Reagan, attempted on numerous occasions to undermine the Revo’, used this opportunity to invade Grenada. After a week of heavy fighting the US forces, with a fig-leaf Caribbean contingent, captured Grenada and set about dismantling the gains of the Revo’.
Their first act was to put on a show trial of the remaining leader of the NJM, the Grenada 17, who they captured following the invasion. Mounting a sustained campaign, led by their 56th US Psychological Warfare Unit, the invaders claimed that these leaders had stolen money from the Treasury; planned to slaughter all Grenadians; sold Grenada to Cuba; built underground cities for Soviet Union troops, who were to be stationed in the country; and who killed Maurice Bishop.
The Psychological Warfare Unit co-opted local and regional figures to manage the “trial”, which despite was notorious for its many blatant irregularities and received many justified complaints,  convicted the leaders of murder and sentenced them to death. This was condemned worldwide by numerous organisations including Amnesty International and was declared a “…travesty of justice…” by many others. After an intense campaign, the death sentences were counted and replaced by life imprisonment.
The Grenada 17 were released following a global campaign.
Grenada – Forward Ever (G-FE) was formed in 2018.
It recognises the tremendous social, economic and educational progress made by the Grenadian people during the Revolution of 1979.  The United States invaded Grenada in 1983 to quash these gains and erase its memory from history. We will oppose this plan and fight against all forms of colonialism and support the struggle for self-determination by oppressed people.
We will assist organisations and individuals in Grenada and elsewhere, seeking to advance the material, economic, social and general well-being of the people of Grenada in support of the advances made during the Revolution.
We will do this by: –
Publishing and disseminating information and materials, with a focus on the history and inheritance of the Grenada Revolution.
Undertaking research,
Holding events, and
Lobbying, canvassing and commissioning any other activity.
The Grenada Revolution – An overview
A new document, THE GRENADA REVOLUTION – Four years of freedom – Achievements, Challenges and Collapse, has been published and is now available for downloading.
This document provides a summary of the momentous events that occurred in Grenada between the Revolution (Revo’) of 13 March 1979 and the US invasion of October 1983.  It covers, in outline, the history of Grenada, the preparation and planning of the Revolution, the successes of the Revolution, its collapse, the US invasion and the lessons that can be learned from its collapse.
THE GRENADA REVOLUTION – Four years of freedom … can be opened from 2021 11 02 – THE GRENADA REVOLUTION Four years of freedom Achievements, Challenges and Collapse.
By Our Own Hands – A People’s History of the Grenadian Revolution
Tumblr media
A pamphlet from CLS by Steve Cushion and Dennis Bartholomew
Published by Caribbean Labour Solidarity, By Our Own Hands… illustrates the tremendous strides made by the people of Grenada during the brief period of the revolution.
Between 1979 and 1983, the people of the Caribbean nation of Grenada made a courageous attempt to overcome the legacy of slavery, British colonialism and a viciously corrupt post-colonial dictatorship.
The tragic last few days of the Revolution have obscured the remarkable achievements of the Grenadian people during the previous four years. In the face of the unceasing hostility of the United States government and its continual destabilisation campaign, the people of Grenada rebuilt their economy with an emphasis on social justice and economic stability rather than mere profit for, mainly foreign, capitalists; they established a remarkable education system and improved their health service; they started a house-building and housing repair programme that addressed the needs of the poorest members of society.
By Our Own Hands… can be downloaded from the bottom of this page http://cls-uk.org.uk/?p=279.

Wellness Wednesday:
Picture Me Rollin'
We are officially 186 days into the year - Only 179 days remain - The Year, My Challenge, is half way complete.
I cannot see/feel the metaphorical light at the end of the tunnel, but I feel confident I will still travel ahead full steam.
In other news - I had a banger of a week. Lots of PTO from work, took 2 massive - but - highly needed day time naps (truly reset my brain), hung out with family and friends, some awesome fireworks and...
I saw Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny.
I've been waiting a long time and... I was not awed - but - I wasn't upset either. It was a okay flick with some nice moments - just not "Wow-wah-wee-wah!" moments. It's a movie that wasn't need, but I enjoyed because it removed some of the stank that was Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Lastly, I treated myself to (aka signed up for a free trial) Comixology Unlimited - in this last week I have been tearing into some comics. Never felt so satisfied.

The Good:

Also had some awesome R&R, which quelled my sleep hunger pains.
The Bad:
Although I caught up on some sleep - I feel like I headed down a rocky yet again.
The Ugly:
After the 4th July festivities I was truly hit with devastating cravings. Missed out on a lot of good looking food. My dread expanded thinking of Thanksgiving and Christmas that are yet to come.

Sebastien Buemi and Daniel abt??? 📝
Sebastien Buemi - Your favourite FE race?
It's gotta be that early race in season 2, the fun shitshow of a race where Robin crossed the line with his totaled car and got like 3rd. That one Valencia race is a close contender. Absolute bumper cars and then near everyone ran out of power, made me cackle with joy and laughter. Formula E is fuckery like that and good racing and everyone who doesnt watch it is missing out.
Daniel Abt - Stupidest thing you've ever done?
Ignoring stuff that ended up upsetting/hurting people (not physically) because I was a paranoid asshole/reactionary rule enforcer 4-5 years ago (not fun for anyone to hear about) I'd have to go with the kinda shit I would pull as a maladjusted 12 year old and then as a numb 19 year old.
Snuck my first beers with my friends when I was 12 and threw it all up, got chased by security guards while pouring dishwashing liquid into local fountains around town, lots of picking/getting into physical fights. Stopped when a knife got pulled on a classmate in an area I'd hung around in. I mellowed out once we moved up north and away from rural areas. 2018, though, I took part in lots of reckless behaviours as my depression kept me inside all day and made me numb to everything going on around me. i'd go out and stay out till morning, hopping from house party to house party, drinking way too much. Went to the waterfront drunk (not safe) and wanted to jump off the diving board into the ocean but I couldn't get past the chain. Went to a couple bushraves which honestly weren't that bad. Worst was when I went to one apartment block thats veeery well known in the city for its disgusting state.
Looked like an abandoned hospital (holes in walls, broken doors, disgusting, broken furniture and dirty floors) but people actually live there (god knows why its not safe and a dude got hospitalized after drinking a shot that fell on the floor). I was smart enough to only ever drink what I brought, but my friend got into an argument with one of the girls who lived there and we ended up getting chased down 4 flights of stairs, up the road and around the corner to hide in a mcdonalds till 2am cos the girl who got fucked off with him broke her bottle and went at us with what was left.
she and my friend are friends now, weirdly enough. he ran into her at another party a year later and it turned out she thought he'd said something way worse than what he actually did and they found they actually get along pretty well.
dont think i could ever replicate the feeling you get going from chatting idly to some random people in a hallway only for your friend of 7 years who you've never seen feel fear once to gun it to your side and go "WE NEED TO LEAVE." as this girl comes out of a room with half a bottle, screaming.
i stopped just recklessly going out to see what would happen after that.

Santa Fe High School shooter's parents not found liable in civil trial
On Monday, August 19, a Texas jury found the parents of Dimitrios Pagourtzis not liable for bearing any responsibility for the 2018 Santa Fe High School shooting in Santa Fe, Texas. If you’ll recall, a then-17-year-old Pagourtzis used his father’s shotgun and his mother’s .38 handgun to kill eight students and two teachers, while injuring 13 others. The civil suit was filed by the families of…

꧁-Quisiéramos ver a Jesús-꧂
26 ago 2018

1. Flaga Argentyny. Trójpasmowy, składający się z trzech równych poziomych pasów w kolorze jasnoniebieskim, białym i jasnoniebieskim z żółtym Słońcem Majów w środku (2010–obecnie)
2. Flaga narodowa (1812–1818), Flaga i proporzec cywilny (1812–), Flaga ozdobna (1818–). Flaga Argentyny bez Słońca Majów (1812 –)
3. Sztandar prezydencki Argentyny. Flaga narodowa Argentyny z napisem „Republica Argentina” w górnym pasie i „Presidencia de la Nacion” w dolnym pasie. Fizyczną wersję tej flagi można znaleźć w biurze prezydenta w „Casa Rosada” w Autonomicznym Mieście Buenos Aires
4. Flaga armii.
8. Flaga Skautów Argentyny
9. Flaga prowincji Kordoba (1815–1825) [1]
10. Flaga prowincji Kordoba (1815–1825) [2]
11. Flaga prowincji Kordoba (2010–2014)
12. Flaga Entre Rios (1815)
13. Flaga Entre Rios (1822–1824)
14. Flaga San Juan (1997–2018) [1]
15. Flaga San Juan (1997–2018) [2]
16. Flaga Santa Fe (1819–1821)
17. Flaga Santa Fe (1821)
18. Flaga Tucumán (1995–2010)
19. Patagonia. Nieoficjalna flaga regionalna (2011–)
20. Patagonia. Nieoficjalna flaga regionalna. Flaga Królestwa Araukanii i Patagonii

Webbed Skies is currently on exhibition at MoMA PS1 through September 9nth 2024

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Tagged by @fictional-at-heart (can always count on sisters to tag you in fun things!)
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Sixteen
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
109,759
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Once Upon a Time (SwanFire specifically), Masters of the Air, and The Boys in the Boat (I’d love to write for How to Train Your Dragon and Little House on the Prairie but alas! The Plot Idea Farm has been dry for years)
4. Top five fics by kudos?
Secrets, Lies, and Blessings - 42
Tell Me You Didn’t… - 28
What’s In a Name? - 25
Words of Comfort - 25 (Oo, we’ve got a dead heat!)
I’m Not Much of a Talker - 23
Princess Kidnapped! - 20 (this one I still plan to finish but it’s DARK.)
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes! It takes me a long while sometimes but I do! I want my readers to feel comfortable giving feedback
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angriest ending?
Oh, “A Hero’s Sacrifice” for sure!!! I wrote Graham’s death to fit my medieval AU and… it’s one I’m really proud of and really politely urge you to read👉🏻👈🏻🥹 I cried writing it (I also researched a lot for it… like what happens when you bleed out from the stomach👀 Someone said writing a battle scene is like writing a sex scene and… she was right. Or he, whatever.)
7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably “Secrets, Lies, and Blessings”. I mean, Bae and Emma get married at the end and what gets happier than that?
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Yes. I wrote (am writing) a Don x OFC fic and someone invaded my ask box a couple months ago calling it a ‘boring het fic’ with a ‘dime a dozen OFC’. Behind the gray face too of course. Screw you, Nonny. I’m still writing it, and my all time favorite Don x OFC author commented lovely words on it too so😁
I feel like I also had someone come after me once for Princess Kidnapped because it’s anti Hook. Yeah well I gave you plenty of warning in the tags; it’s your own darn fault you didn’t read them, chickie.
9. Do you write smut?
Some. But as a rule of thumb I try to keep it extremely tasteful with zero uses of gross/rude words. I posted two SwanFire ones (one’s restricted) and I’m working on one about Don and Kate (my OFC)
10. Craziest crossover?
I haven’t written a crossover. But if I did? Hmmm… maybe SwanFire and hiccup/astrid?
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope! Thank goodness.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Actually, yes; there was a German girl who liked my fic so much she asked to translate it on Wattpad. Don’t know if it’s still there though.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No. I almost did, but we lost touch and I didn’t agree with writing fanfics about ice dancers…🥴
14. All time favorite ship
I think you all know that👀 Emma Swan and Neal ‘Baelfire’ Cassidy from Once Upon a Time
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Well I thought that was going to be Secrets Lies and Blessings but last week I had a crazy random spurt of inspiration… lately I feel like it’s gonna be Princess Kidnapped… it just has to get so… dark before it gets better and I don’t don’t know if I want to put my mind in a place like that (I mean, Hook is told he can do whatever he wants to Emma as long as he keeps her alive🥺 and then the eventual execution I have planned for the end is gonna be… graphic. So yeah. We’ll see if I ever finish that one.)
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue and emotional angst. I really enjoy writing heated arguments. CC Emma and Charming
17. Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
No. Just, no.
18. First fandom you wrote in?
Once Upon a Time. I read an awesome SwanFire fic after a rewatch in 2018 and she inspired me to give it a try and I never stopped.
19. Favorite fic you’ve written?
A Hero’s Sacrifice
About to Throw Hands - This one was my first ever request and only fic written with a deadline in mind. My friend Rachael mentioned she was craving a reader fic where Bobby defends the female reader. Lo and behold I have it a try and voila! It turned out better than I expected and she loved it!! A double win!!
There is no 20 - it should be called 19 questions😆
Tags: (let’s see if I can think of all the writers in my notes…) @eviebelieve-y @selkiesstories @strangethings-everywhere @swanfireprincessmydear @okieedokes DARN YOU, MICHAIAH!!!! I CANT TAG YOU AND I CANT THINK OF ANYONE ELSE😡 there are two SwanFire writers who I remember buy can’t remember the correct usernames😕 HELP. Any other writer who sees this (especially my SwanFire writers, please consider yourself tagged by me if you want to do it! You can even say I tagged you!!)

SINERGIA PRESENTA “CARA A CARA”
ESCUCHÁ “CARA A CARA”
-Grabado, producido, mezclado y masterizado por Hernán García (ex O´Connor, Habeas Pornus) en “Estudios Panda” y “García Estudio”;
