Rather than doing the reasonnable thing and sleep after reading (again) the Raven serie by Patrick briggs, I came here looking for a fandom and saw many posts shitting on the Mercy Thompson and Alpha&Omega verses, saying the female leads are written in a mysoginistic driven kinda way 'cause every other female character is just shitty and exists to uplift the FL and they have no female friends

And I'm. Like. What the hell? Really?

I never thought so (compared to a lot of other things I have read)

So let me think about it for a sec (I could sleep but I'm stupid)

Anna

Anna is friend with her neighbour first, and they have a lovely relationship. Then obv, she leaves and she develops a nice friendship with Sage (before you know what happens). With Leah, it's an interesting bound 'cause they tolerate each other kind of and have many feelings for one another but whatever happens they are from the same pack and they fought alongside one another and protect each other asses. Also Anna is friend with Moira (I think that's her name, you know the blind white adorable witch). We don't see her a lot, but everytime they interact it's full of love and respect. And there's this really cool FBI agent!!! They have a funny friendship full of "I trust you even though I know you are balantly lying to me"

So yeah Anna is an odd one, but I like it. We need shit to happen to her after all, and it offers a nice contrast to have this therapeutic wolf in a bloodful world / society. (we have stories of all those other big bad wolves in each tome as well as on the novels)

Mercy

Now about mercy : it's true we don't see her have many women friends, which she adresses herself. She mentions Charlene (is that her name? From uni) and we do meet this other lady in the fourth (?) book

Anyway, I mostly remember this dialogue with honey where they actually realise they are friends. It's a special friendship since they are both traumatised from life and honey doesn't know how to deal with this wild coyote that braucht havoc in her pack. Kinda the same with the other lady wolves : they react the same way the male one does at first, and soften a bit here, a bit there. The only time Auriel is being awful is because of her personal problems (which are explored, even a little bit).

Then there's the ex (can't remember her name) who is obv a trope, but I enjoy how she's dealt with. She's not just a threat, she's a victim and the mother of a teen that mercy loves. She is a step mom and a protector and Mercy has to deal with all of this a'd it's not easy but she does it.

So anyway, I'm not gonna name them all and analyse it 'cause I should be sleeping but, what I remembered with the dialogue between honey and Mercy is that : we get it all from mercy' s pov, who thinks she's shitty when it comes down to relationships.

And Mercy isn't all knowing, she's wrong about a lot of things, and this is one of them. If you don't like her... Well... Too bad? She's the narrator deal with it ig??

Anyway, Mercy is a dumb dumb who gets respected by a lot of people and who gets so ma'y shit storms that we mostly follow her internal ordeal of her trying to not fucking die by the hands of yet another evil mf being who decided she looked like their best next lunch.

I'd like to see more of her interactions with the lady wolves member of the pack, to hear about her foster parents (and I don't know about the guys and gal's who wrote that her bio mom was also a way to uplift mercy, but like, her mom rocks, don't look down on her, she's so cool! And Mercy knows it, she does say how cool her mom is! Did we read the same books?)

Ig I just love my FL from both those series and needed to talk about them since I couldn't find posts matching my vibe

Plus, reading people shitting on the other female characters, just saying they were horrible person or simply ignoring their existant... Me is deeply suspicious

Throwback Thursday - Zeeko Zaki

You wondering into the living room trying to remember where you put your book down last. You couldn't see, but you had other places to check. As your eyes scanned the living room again you could see Zeeko looking at you.

"Huh?“ You look back to him to see him grinning from the couch. Maybe your book was on the couch under him.

"I said I just did a pretty cool Throwback Thursday on IG" he grins.

"Of what?“

“Go on IG and check" you roll your eyes, and grab your phone from the coffee table to have a look. "Or you could just tell me" you mumble.

You tap through to see the picture. It's black and white. An angled picture of what you know to be Zeeko's lap with a script on it. He's added short text which read "Ep.9"

"Zeeko!“ you scold, he jumps hiding his phone - slipping it between himself and the couch.

"You said you were concentrating on the script" you pout. Puppy dog eyes and all.

Since getting cast in a new upcoming CBS series - FBI, Zeeko had banished you from his presence so he could "study" the script and get his lines down. You'd wondered into the livingtoom. To see if he wanted something to eat only to catch him on his phone.

"I am! I just wanted to take a picture to remember this moment. I still can't really believe it"

It was a big deal, after being typecast as a terrorist, cab driver or bad guy in most things he'd done, this role was the turning point. He wasn't a terrorist, cab driver or a bad guy. He was going to play an FBI agent. One of two lead FBI agents!

You sunk into the couch next to him, slipping under his arm to look down at the script on his lap and flicked through some random pages. It was for episode 9, showing Zeeko had worked through the others.

Your weren't actually allowed to look through it, but it wouldn't make any sense to you it was just all text with slight environmental prompts.

You quickly, gathered the pages up and lightly tossed them onto the coffee table. The stack slightly slide across the table.

"Hey, be careful!" Zeeko moved to reach of the scripted but you put your arm across his chest. "It's fine, it's pinned together" He leant back into the couch rather than fight you more.

You manoeuvred onto his lap, facing him. "You know your lap is usually the place for your girlfriend… as well as scripts" you pouted hands moving to his shoulders.

Zeeko's hands rested on the area where your hips became your ass, and he gave a little squeeze. "I know I'm sorry, I just need to nail this" he frowned.

"And you will because your amazing, God knows I can't even remember the grocery list" he dropped his head back and laughed. His Adams apple dancing up and down.

"I hope you know how proud I am of you" you tugged him forward so he'd lift his head up, and he did. A bashful smile on his face. "But more than that, I'm so so happy for you" you pulled him into a kiss, wrapping your arms around his neck.

He broke the kiss, a smile on his face

He kissed your cheek, leaving his lips there for a moment and then muttered a "Thank you"

"So I was gonna make you something to eat…But I'm gonna be a needy girlfriend instead" it came out more desperate and whiney than you intended.

Zeeko presses his forehead against yours, his nose rubbing against yours. "What do you want?“

You fell into the couch - half on top of Zeeko, half on the couch.

"Since I don't have any lines or scripts to go over, how about we go over what happened after I posted that picture" Zeeko manoeuvred so you were under him and nuzzled his face into you neck.

"You know I barely remember the grocery list, so how about you remind me" you grin.
