a/n: thought i wrote this but i just did extensive notes so here we are a month later. also written super quick so ... + wasn't meant to be nearly this long
word count: 1.3k+
you've been sitting in the same spot for so long that the indent your butt had created had gone from being comfortably molding, to flat without enough padding.
you shuffle to the other side, taking your mug and book with you, just as peter comes out of the backdoor. he huffs as he sits in the spot you'd previously sat in, and you watch over your book as he twists and repositions, until his green eyes turn to look at you knowingly, a half smile on his lips.
"you left this seat all dented on purpose." a statement, but your head still shakes.
"i swear i didn't!" but it's funny to see his visible discomfort. he shakes his head, faux disappointment all over his face, and he scoots closer to you, hands reaching out to your waist to force you up out of your seat.
you don't protest, moving with him instead of against him, until your bum is seated on the couch, and everything from your mid-thigh down is tossed over peters legs.
the two of you sit like that for a while, screened in back porch preventing any bugs from bothering you in this bliss. you share the contents of your mug, hot tea to soothe the small throat ache you'd had recently, and peter didn't like hot tea at all, but he was far too lazy to go back inside and get iced tea.
you read your book, quill sits and enjoys the comfort of nature, and it's peak domesticity. it's simple, innocent almost. until you finish a lengthy chapter and your eyes need some rest, so you put the book down, finish the contents of your mug, and cuddle into peter's chest instead.
with where the couch is seated, you have a perfect view of the steadily setting sun behind the trees. you watch it for a while, appreciating the beauty of the life you've been given, and then quill takes a deep breath and he kisses your cheek, then your jaw, then down your neck.
"love this dress on you," he compliments, fingers rubbing the fabric between them, not-so-subtly inching it up as he does so. you hum in appreciation, going to remind him that he brought it for you, but he's speaking before you can. "love it even more off of you, too."
a little laugh from you because of course that's where he was going with this. you don't even have it in you to protest as one hand slides under your dress, running along your thighs, and the other slides up the corseted top to cup right under your tits, large palm eventually engulfing your breast securely.
it's not long until the straps of your dress are down to give peter access to nip at the tops of them, and your dress is bunched up around your waist, panties pushed to the side so peter's fingers can stuff themselves into your cunt. you're thankful for the prep, you truly are, but you're so desperate in this moment that peter's only a few thrusts in before you're quickly fumbling for his belt buckle, nimble fingers undoing it and popping the button of his pants shortly after, zipper easily following.
you go to straddle him, face-to-face, but quill stops you with a strong grip on your hips.
"uh-uh, other way." you look at him, brows furrowed, a little puzzled, until he clarifies. "can't have you missin' a sunset this pretty." a kiss to the corner of your lips and your eyes roll but you appreciate the sentiment either way, doing what he says and turning yourself around.
you hold onto peter's wrists as he does most of the work, hips pushing up to meet yours with steady thrusts. you'd fucked him this morning, too, but you're still close sooner than expected. something you would've been embarrassed about if it didn't show just how attracted to him that you were.
a breeze blows across your skin, the surrounding air holds a heat that's welcomed more than it's cursed, and you smell nature dirt and musk that blends well with his cologne. you hear the wet sounds of your cunt sucking him in again and again, your moans, and his encouragements.
"you don't gotta do all the work, baby. let me take care of you. jus' relax, look at the sunset, just like that. that's a girl. touch yourself for me." and you do as told, pulling a hand away from his wrist to slide it under your dress and rub it along your clit. your other hand grips his skin aggressively, nails digging into the flesh, but peter doesn't complain.
instead, his hips speed up a little more and he pulls your back to his chest, lips pressed to the shell of your ear as he talks you over the cliff, and then he parts his lips and lets you hear his own pleasure as he cums, lips puckering to place kisses under your ear while the both of you come down.
you catch your breath, rise off of peter's cock, and look over your shoulder.
"when's the last time you checked on dinner?"
he looks at the watch on his wrist and you visibly see the way his eyes widen, a smile already forming on your lips.
"uh ... i'll be right back, honey."
you have just enough time to murmur a little "uh huh" before he's gently setting you to the side, pressing a kiss to your temple, and all but running into the house.
you head after him, book and mug in your hand, cum still dripping down your inner thigh, and you make a pitstop to set your items down before heading to the bathroom, cleaning yourself up, and then leaving for the front porch this time.
the sun's set now, stars starting to become visible by the time peter comes out. he's juggling one loaded plate and two glasses when he does, a smile balanced perfectly on his face when he makes it to you.
you inspect the contents, surprised that nothing's burnt, even going to comment on it.
"you can't burn a pot roast, honey."
you shrug, taking the plate in your hands. "pretty sure you've done it before, pete." a halfhearted grumble from him and he's sitting down beside you on the porch swing, passing you the glass of sweet tea when you request it. the two of you sit in comfortable silence, the wind carrying you to and fro as you eat off of the same plate, and share the same space.
when it's finished, and peter has it set down on the coffee table, he has you pulled back into his side, your head resting against the soft cotton of his plaid button up, and then he starts to talk.
"been there, and there too. that one was ... a doozy. if i'm thinking about the right planet." you watch him in awe, squinting to try and decipher which of the tiny specks he was referring to.
"maybe we should get a telescope. one of those real fancy ones," you suggest, ecstatic whenever he agrees.
"and that planet right there; most fun i've ever had. the mission was a mess, rocket kept fucking it up and drax wasn't any help either but afterwards they threw us a massive parade, i'm talking biggest parade ever, honey. got the whole planet involved it was a wild time."
you smile softly, enjoying the way his face lights up as he recounts his time in space. he eventually looks down at you, same look of love written all over his features as he kisses the tip of your nose, your eyes fluttering shut with the simple moment.
"think you'd ever like to come up there one day?" he asks you.
you shrug, taking a moment to think about it before verbally delivering your answer. "maybe ... as long as you'll protect me, star lord." a cheeky smile on your face as you purr the nickname.
peter's smile is boisterous and he hugs you into his side just a little bit tighter.
"always."

been making Monstrosities just for fun today :3
from left to right:
Venom-Tipped Waddler: funny little guys who live in marshes and swamps. They have poisonous quills that they can shoot out at will in self defense.
Radiation Dog: scary looking hound-like creatures found living in areas of nuclear fallout. Despite their frightening appearance, including an octopus like appendage and a mane of jellyfish like strands that move at will, the radiation dog is actually completely harmless and friendly, and makes for a very loyal companion. Due to its nature being completely immune to radiation poisoning, it's often used by rescuers and adventurers in exploring areas too dangerous for humans.
Deep Webbed Crawler: a blind, deaf fish with hermit crab-like legs that lives mostly at very deep volcanic vents, however, it is also capable of traveling up to the surface. It has the ability to extend webbed membranes between its crab legs for swimming faster, and withdrawing it in order to climb rocks.
Hourglass Hound: tiny dog-like creatures bred by farmers to have a very precise innate knowledge of time. They are better than most clocks at knowing exact timing, and can be trained to let off howls at precise times in order to help farmers keep time.

Written In The Stars XXXV (Harry Potter xF!Oc)
A/N: I am so sorry for forcing you to read this. The twins had an excuse but truly it is me saying I have no idea how to be funny.
Words: 2,168
Warnings: None!
Series’ Masterlist
Previous Chapter // Next Chapter
Chapter Seventeen: Valentine's Day.
Hermione had a dreadful time as a half-feline.
People thought she'd been attacked and tried to take a look, Mel was having a hard time controlling her temper, but she managed to not scream at anyone, which was an utter success.
She was currently waiting for Erick at the far corner of the library, he'd sent her a note saying it was time she returned the favor and help him with his own search, she didn't know what he'd meant, but she wasn't too worried about it.
Harry and Ron were in the Hospital Wing, giving Hermione her homework for the day, so she wasn't expecting to see them in a while.
"Good afternoon, Miss," Erick sat down, going straight to business, "I've a list with all my doubts- I also have some petitions but don't worry, nothing about stealing human hair or making someone fall unconscious-"
"You'll never let me forget it, won't you?"
"Not ever," He pulled out a fancy notebook and opened it on its first page. "First thing on my list- What things do muggles teach to their kind?"
"You mean at school?" He nodded, "They teach them to write and read, then math-"
"Math?" Erick frowned, "subtractions and all that?"
"Yes, Erick. They need numbers too," She rolled her eyes, "What else... oh! They also have their own History lessons, science class- we don't have science here, but I guess we don't exactly need it since magic has its own rules..."
"Science?" The boy wrote it all down, "You have books on that?"
"Some, from when I was in muggle school- they're pretty basic, but they should do. I'll send a letter to my mom asking for a pair"
"Alright," He nodded, still writing, "You know about farmers?"
Mel laughed.
"A thing or two," She said, "what do you want to know?"
"How do they grow things?- And their animals?"
"They do that on its own, you don't need magic for that- wizards don't use magic for that either, I know it because the Weasleys had chickens and all"
"Oh," a faint pink color tinted his cheeks, "I didn't know that."
"You don't have a farm then," She tilted her head, "why do you live around so many?"
"The house belonged to my ancestors for centuries- we've lived there for ages," He shrugged, "my parents don't exactly love it but they never leave the house unless absolutely have to- the neighbors probably think we're mental"
"Anything else you want to know?"
"Yes," He turned the page of his notebook, "I... I need to know who's Rapunzel"
"What?" She raised a brow.
"Anne," Erick explained, "when I talked to her she told me I was like Rapunzel- that I was always locked down in my castle... is it some sort of muggle royalty?"
Mel tried to contain her laughter.
"N-No," She said with a strained voice, "Rapunzel... She's... She's a princess from a story"
Erick's eyes widened, his face turning completely red.
"Oh"
Mel snorted, hiding her face so the laughter would come out muffled.
"I-I think she didn't mean to insult you- maybe just teasing," She bit her lip, "Rapunzel's a fairytale. I could lend you that one too?"
"That would be nice. Thank you," He cleared his throat, "that's all I have."
"Alright," Mel smiled, "so... you've only talked to Anne that one time?"
"I didn't get a chance after that," The boy frowned, "my parents didn't know but they suspected something was off when she started to take the long path to her farm, the one closest to our home- They didn't allow me to leave the house after that."
"No wonder why you're so pale- Your family," Mel sighed, "are they like... the Malfoys?"
"They certainly want to be," Erick raised a brow, "but not really, some relatives have married half-bloods and muggle-borns- distant relatives though. My grandfather, my mum's dad- he's good with me. Never said anything dreadful- I think he doesn't care about blood. My parents are the problem... I don't know why are they so obsessed about it, I really don't. Guess I'm just that unlucky..."
"You're not," She reached for his hand and patted softly on it, retreating before he'd react. "You'll grow up one day and you'll be able to do whatever you want"
"That won't come fast enough," He scoffed, leaning back on his chair.
"Tell you what," Mel grabbed her bag and took out parchment, quill, and ink. "I'll write the letter while we're here so I send it today, what d'you say?"
"I say I would walk you to the owlery- although someone might see us"
Mel smiled.
"That's the fun part."
"A diary?" Mel asked for the third time.
"Did you hit your head?" Ron frowned, "Yes a diary- We found it in Myrtle's bathroom"
"And you just picked it up," She raised her eyebrows, "bit thick from both of you- that thing could be haunted"
"That's what I told him!" Ron argued, "But he insisted-"
"I think it might be important," Harry handed it to her. Mel held it away from her body, "oh, don't be dramatic..."
"I'm being careful, there's a difference," She huffed, "have you told Hermione?"
"No, we found it after we visited her"
"Well now, and what're you going to do?"
"Dunno, wait for Hermione?"
"You could give it to Dumbledore," She offered, "it's a bit strange... I don't like it. It feels..."
She frowned, Mel didn't know why she felt that way about an empty diary, but she hated it.
"Come on now, and what we'd say? 'Excuse me, Professor, we found this on a toilet, thought you might appreciate it-' Ouch!"
Mel had hit Ron on the head with the book.
"Stop talking to me like that," She snapped, "why are you so moody?"
"Hermione can't help with our homework," Harry explained.
"Get it together," Mel demanded, "I'll help you if you promised to behave."
Ron's interest peaked.
"Would you?"
"I like to think that I'm clever enough to help others, you know?"
"You've got a lot to do," Ron dragged her to the nearest armchair and let all his works fall on her lap, "I've no idea of what've been doing in Potions and Transfiguration."
"The moment their acne clears up, they'll be ready for repotting again," Sprout was telling Filch as they walked into their herbology class, "And after that, it won't be long until we're cutting them up and stewing them. You'll have Mrs. Norris back in no time."
It was February and the attacks had miraculously stopped, things were going back to normal, even for Mel and her friends. Less people thought that Harry was the heir, and they were finally leaving him alone, now she could focus on her to-do list.
One morning she walked in with Hermione and Ron to the Great Hall -apparently, Harry was too tired from Quidditch practice and Ron didn't want to wake him up- and got attacked with a mixed set of emotions.
Everything was sickeningly pink.
Mel liked pink a fair good amount, but this was just excessive: Roses on the walls and confetti shaped like little hearts coming from the ceiling, she felt inside a doll's house.
"Gross!" Ron hissed as soon as they walked in, reluctant to step further, "Who did this?!"
"Locktwat," Mel pointed to the teachers' table, where their professor sat, proudly wearing the pinkiest set of robes she'd ever seen.
"I should've known," He groaned, dragging his feet towards their table.
After half an hour, Harry finally arrived.
"What's going on?"
Ron pointed to the teachers' table this time, Mel had her eyes fixed on her plate.
"Happy Valentine's Day!" Lockhart finally spoke up, getting her attention. "And may I thank the forty-six people who have so far sent me cards! Yes, I have taken the liberty of arranging this little surprise for you all - and it doesn't end here!"
Lockhart clapped his hands and through the doors to the entrance hall marched a dozen surly-looking dwarfs. Not just any dwarfs, however. Lockhart had them all wearing golden wings and carrying harps.
"My friendly, card-carrying cupids!" beamed Lockhart. "They will be roving around the school today delivering your valentines! And the fun doesn't stop here! I'm sure my colleagues will want to enter into the spirit of the occasion! Why not ask Professor Snape to show you how to whip up a Love Potion! And while you're at it, Professor Flitwick knows more about Entrancing Enchantments than any wizard I've ever met, the sly old dog!"
"Ugh..." Mel groaned, pushing her plate away, "I think I lost my appetite"
"Just eat quick," Ron said to Harry, "I can't stand this for another hour"
"I think it's nice he's trying to cheer us up," Hermione shrugged.
Mel glared at her, she was certain Hermione was one of those bloody forty-six letters.
After the first half of the day, a dwarf appeared out of nowhere and stood in front of her, he didn't seem in the mood to get a no for an answer.
"I've got a musical poem to deliver-"
"Oh no," Mel backtracked.
"Sweet as butter mellow," The dwarf started to sing -more like yell- and people stopped to listen, "Mel Dumbledore, your temper turns every boy yellow..."
She was dead, she had to be, this felt very much like hell and she was paying all her crimes.
"It sure hurts to fall on such bounder, but how pleasant it is to have our requital!"
She didn't have much experience with valentine's, but that didn't sound romantic at all.
"The twins," She growled- and sure enough, Fred and George were laughing at the end of the corridor.
"YOU!" She bolted over to them.
"Oh, come on, we went easy on you!" George snorted.
"The poem was lovely!" Fred added, "We did it in like, ten minutes or so. I'm sorry is not the best-"
"Be thankful I'm trying to control my temper now, otherwise you'd be running away with your heads turned into owls' nest!"
"Why are you so mad? We just declared our undying affection," George replied, Fred's chortles kept him from talking.
"Affection my-!"
"Mel, we'll be late if you don't hurry!" Hermione urged her, grabbing her arm and taking her away from the twins.
"They'll regret it," She growled, "those idiots- I'm going to win-"
"You won't amuse them," Hermione said severely, "don't let them get into your head!"
Ron and Harry's teasing definitely broke the deal for her, she was sure that by the end of the year the twins would end up regretting their decision.
On their way to charms, Mel got a bit of consolation.
'His eyes are as green as a fresh pickled toad,
His hair is as dark as a blackboard.
I wish he was mine, he's really divine, The hero who conquered the Dark Lord'
"Oh, don't you love irony?" She smiled at Hermione.
Harry got up and started to pick up his things, Mel helped him with a little smile on her face.
"All right, divine boy?" She smirked.
"Shut up."
"Off you go, off you go, the bell rang five minutes ago, off to class, now," Percy said. "And you, Malfoy-"
Harry looked up and turned pale. Malfoy was holding Riddle's diary.
"Give that back," He said.
"Wonder what Potter's written in this?" asked Malfoy.
"Hand it over, Malfoy," said Percy.
"When I've had a look," he replied.
"As a school prefect-"
"Expelliarmus!" Harry pointed to Malfoy and the diary flew up in the air.
Ron caught it with a triumphant smile.
Mel had to admit that looked extremely cool.
"Harry!" said Percy loudly. "No magic in the corridors. I'll have to report this, you know!"
Malfoy was fuming, he pushed some kids to walk past and snapped at Ginny.
"I don't think Potter liked your valentine much!" She ran into class with her face hidden behind her hands.
During their charms class Harry poked her arm to get her attention, she turned to see him hold the diary above the rest of his things.
"What is it?" She examined the book. "Is it ruined?"
"No," He frowned, turning the pages, "it's completely blank- the ink vanished!"
"Really?" She leaned forward, "How weird! D'you think that Hermione's right?"
"Looks like it," He admitted. "I'll give it a look tonight"
She nodded, then Harry perked up again and searched further on his bag.
"Look!" He took out a chocolate's frog in perfect state.
"Nice," She grinned, "finally a good thing happens to you, huh?"
He broke the chocolate in half.
"To us," He corrected innocently, "happy valentine's, Mel"
"Oh," She mumbled, grabbing a half, "I don't have anything for you..."
"S'not like I planned ahead, it's half a chocolate frog," He laughed, "you don't owe me anything"
"Still, it was nice..."
"Shut up you two," Ron groaned from Harry's side, "the last thing I want is to deal with your mawkish interactions"
"Shut up!" They replied.

i tried to tell my sister a bedtime story and got a bit carried away....
here’s what i texted her after she kicked me out of her room for talking for too long. (the basic idea is that there’s a group of sheep that reached an electric fence [it’s turned off!!! she was very clear about that] and one decides to jump over it to reach the beautiful pasture on the other side. one by one, the other sheep follow, but some of them go on side quests lol)
sheep 54 starts an acapella group with sheeps 55-61 sheep 62 finds a hole in the fence a quarter mile down the road and tries to tell the other sheep about it, but they're all busy listening to the accapella performance so sheep 62 shrugs and jumps over the fence again and goes off to munch some grass sheep 63 witnessed the alien abduction of sheep 46 and the bystander cow, and walks to the nearest town, vowing to enroll in school to learn how to find them sheep 64 takes a running leap and clears the fence sheep 65 gets distracted by a butterfly on the bush and takes another half an hour to remember the fence and finally jumps over the fence sheep 66 decides that it's time to call in reinforcements and convinces the sheep herding dog to encourage the stragglers over the fence sheep 67 watches all of this from around the corner, and once they're sure the coast is clear, they gesture to sheep 68-70, who are all painted to look like the hedges lining the road. they sneak around the fence, past the farmer's tractor (who has finally showed up), and sneak to the farmer's house, where they steal his left socks and three spoons (sheep 71 is the lookout on the other side of the fence) sheep 72 is disguised as the sheep dog!!!! sheep 73 was actually abducted by the same aliens that abducted sheep 46 and the bystander cow, but now sheep 73 is helping the aliens because they just wanted some local tour guides and promised to send them all back by morning sheep 74 finally arrives at the fence (they went on a sidequest with a hedgehog -- long story short, there's a reason why hedgehogs don't play tag) and gets a running head start to jump over the fence sheep 75 was walking with sheep 74 and befriended the hedgehog, and now they're in the middle of a different field trying to put quills in sheep 75's fluffy coat so that sheep 75 can become a spiky cloud sheep 75-100 were convinced by sheep 101 to go around the fence and they are now in the beautiful pasture eating yummy grass. sheep 102-105 snuck off to the shed at the corner of the electric fence and they're trying to figure out which switch turns the fence back on again sheep 55-61 (the accapella group) team up with sheep 105-110 and some crickets and start baaing the Hallelujah chorus sheep 111 approaches the fence and decides they want to jump over it again just because they can. they step back a few paces, stare at the fence, and dash towards the fence; they leap over the fence and land on the other side. they look around a bit, then decide they liked the grass better on the other side, so they jump over the fence again. sheep 112 has spent the last 6 months watching musical performances through the farmer's window, and decides that they're going to make their own accapella group and challenge sheep 55-61 and 105-110 to a competition. only sheep 113 and 114 are interested in making another accapella group right now, but they have high hopes that more people will join once they hear how musically refined they sound sheep 115 overhears their plans and volunteers to organize the hungry sheep so that they eat the grass in a certain area where the audience will go in the accapella competition sheep 116 takes sheep 117-120 to the woods at the edge of the field to gather fallen logs to build a stage the farmer scratches his head. "I really shouldn't make bets with mysterious strangers in the corner of a shady bar again" he says sheep 121-123 snicker, because the "mysterious stranger" was really the three of them stacked in a trenchcoat and the farmer was too drunk to realize the vaguely-existent sheeplike entity hovering 3.5 feet to the left of the farmer also snickers, because the farmer somehow managed to summon it by murmuring gibberish at sheep 121-123, and now, after observing the farmer for a bit longer to make sure that he truly was unaware of what he had released and wasn't going to try and capture it, the entity was free to wreak havoc on the local daisy population sheep 116-120 return with the logs and begin building the stage. sheep 115 recognizes leadership potential in sheep 66, and suggests that sheep 66 oversees the construction of the stage. someone else suggests sheep 101. they do rock paper scissors. it's a tie. the pasture dissolves into chaos. sheep 67-70 take advantage of the chaos to slip into the crowd, after having successfully retrieved the farmer's left socks and the three spoons, and depositing them in a log in the woods (the log was almost picked up by sheep 119 for the stage, but sheep 119 was distracted by what he thought was a couple sheep approaching the shed so they didn't pick up that log). when asked about the green tinge to their coats (the camo paint didn't wash off in water like the label said it would), they shrug and say "it's fashion, sweetie, look it up" the farmer calms the sheep after their pasture-wide argument about rock paper scissors by promising them chocolate chip sheep treats if they vote it out like civilized sheep. the sheep reluctantly agree and toddle off to the recently-cleared audience area to place their votes. the farmer wonders when he started to understand what the sheep were saying. the vaguely-existent sheeplike entity, who is currently terrorizing a cluster of daisies somewhere in the corner of the pasture, responds "don't worry about it, Joe." the farmer decides that now is an excellent time for a cup of tea. sheep 124 finally spots the perfect blade of grass and munches it happily sheep 125 returns from a walk around the perimeter with sheep 126, and excitedly tells sheep 127 about a bunny they met near the woods the votes are in: it's a tie between sheep 66 and sheep 101. the pasture dissolves into chaos once more.

previous oc story for my 400 followers: Zach Dempsey x oc Davina Jensen
Ever since the beginning, I’ve always known I was different. Very different from others.
To know Calantha’s father was Ego was not easy. She always felt he had a strange presence lurking when she was with him. And her mother, unknown. All she knew was that she must of been some type of alien creature because her, herself felt that way.
She nodded to the music blaring in her blue ship. The song was to her a great oldie, “Bruce Channel- Hey Baby.” She swayed her hips while looking at the controls of the monitor. Singing as well, and twirling her hair.
She left the ship in auto pilot and inspected the items she kept with her from her last mission. She had placed the things in a light brown traveler bag. Upon opening the bag she realizes some of the children from the planet gave her gift.
“Awww how sweet!” She gushed, putting her hand to her heart.
Calantha was a traveler, and a good one at that. She would travel to little places such as all over the world, to all over different planets of the galaxy. She would study their traditions, culture, their life. It just made her curiosity of life more vast. She also would go and travel all over if the area or planet was in trouble. For example like the planet she was just on, it is called Achernon (its actually a real marvel planet). One of the Achernonians was evil, his name was Brahl. Calantha had arrived to the planet to save them.
Calantha stared at the items and shook her head, “they will never realize it was really me.”
Calantha just 25 learned of her powers when she was young. She could shape shift into either any animal, or any person. At first knowing these powers made everything amazing, made everything seem more in reach to her. But there was a downside, there is always a downside to everything. She could never show her true self. Calantha did not want others to know about her power. So as she entered into new planets she would shape shift into looking like their kind.
Calantha was transformed into looking like an Achernonian. She learned the peoples ways, but now it was time to go back and situate herself into either another planet or somewhere.
Calantha smiled to herself knowing she made an impact on the planet she went to previously. She stood up, stretching, preparing herself for a while of a trip. She stripped herself from the clothing of the Achernonians and put on her comfortable clothes, a black shirt, black leather jacket, black ripped jeans, and adidas.
“Ahh now this is more like it,” she moaned, grabbing a snack and drink. As she went to the cupboard in her ship she saw a picture. It was a picture of her with some of her friends. They were by an ice cream shop in Japan, this was way back in the 60s. Hugging, smiling, having a great time. It was back then, back then when life was good, when life meant something. Calantha stared at it wishingly, darkly, knowing life would never be the same. She shook her head and muttered under her breath. Calantha was immortal, most of her family or friends have passed. She was now left alone to fight for those who could fight no longer. “Those were the good old days.” She whispered almost as if whispering to the photo.
Calantha looked on her octagon shaped table in the middle of her spaceship. She bought or more like traded all her possessions just for the ship. Her spaceship meant everything to her, it was all she had. Calantha picked up her handgun and placed it in her weapon belt. She then walked to her stereo and turned it off, wanting some peace and quiet. Next, she picked up her books of mythology. “The greatest mysteries of the world,” she read aloud. She carefully placed her snacks in cup holders and sat on the captains seat, the seat that controlled the whole spaceship, she sat on it sideways. Opening her book she allowed herself to become captured by the words and facts about Greek gods, and history about the world.
“Wow, this is neat stuff,” knowledge entered into her mind, with one swift movement of the light weight page she was onto another adventure. She subconsciously grabbed her snack and after one bite started to drink her beverage.
Just then the monitor on her ship started beeping. Calantha curiously placed her books down and pressed the answer button on the screen.
“Hello?” She asked without no hesitation.
“Calantha, oh good, I’m so glad to hear from you.”
“Nakia? Whats wrong?”
Calantha scooted closer to the monitor. Calantha’s best friend was Nakia, the lover of King T’Challa, of Wakanda. She had saved Nakia back then when Calantha came to explore Wakanda. There was another incident with the War Dogs and Calantha was there to protect Nakia.
Nakia started to cry, making Calantha worry even more. “Nakia please tell me! What happened?”
“T’Challa, he was...killed...in ritual combat.”
Calantha shook her head and placed her palm on her forehead, shocked from the news, “you mean to tell me that T’Challa is no longer-”
“King? No.” Nakia cried some more and Calantha could hear her breaths she was taking. Big ones but short.
“Then,” Calantha started, “who is?”
“A man named Erik Stevens, he’s a mercenary nicknamed Killmonger. His father was...his father was the brother of King T’Chaka. He wants to send vibranium to all over the world.”
“So that would make him the rightful owner of the throne,” Calantha said, pushing her hair behind her ear.
“Yes but Calantha he is very bad, very evil, selfish. He is not fit to be King, he will never be my King. Wakanda needs your help, I need your help again ngumhlobo (friend).”
Calantha chuckled and nodded her head, “And you know I will always be there for you. I will see you soon Nakia.” Calantha declined the call and climbed out of her chair. She walked to her map of different planets and the map of the whole world. She bit her lip and placed a thumb tack on the world map where it said Wakanda.
Calantha nodded her head and ran to her steering of the space ship. “Next stop, Wakanda.” Putting her hand on the blasters she quickly makes her way to her destination.
“Okay Nakia, I’m outside.” Calantha spoke through the microphone that connected her and Nakia. She awaited for the okay inside a truck. Wearing her all black, one piece outfit she sat in the vehicle waiting.
As Calantha stared at the entrance she saw Nakia sprint towards her. Nakia entered the vehicle with a squeal.
“Hello Calantha, it has been too long. I feel bad we have to meet on such circumstances.”
Calantha shrugged and giggled, “I missed you too girl! I should have come to visit, I have just been so busy. I’m glad to see you.”
Nakia embraced Calantha and patted her back. “So whats the plan?”
“Well I was thinking I can go in secretly, in a disguise.”
“What do you have in mind?”
Calantha gave her best friend a smirk and turned into a Wakandan male. “How does this look? Do you think they would know its me?”
“I still can’t believe you can do that. Even your voice changes! Man I wish I had your power, it can come handy in a lot of occasions.”
Calantha turned back into her normal self, “So I’ll go in like this. My history will be that I am some type of-”
“Farmer?” Nakia suggested, putting her finger to her lip in thought.
“Yeah farmer, and I came to help with this Erik. We need to get a better understanding of him. If I can inch closer to him and see what his deal is with Wakanda then maybe, I can take him down for good.”
“You literally sound like a bad as* when you say your plans,” Nakia bit her lip but her face fell in sadness.
‘Whats wrong Nakia?”
“I just miss T’Challa. I just hope we can take Erik down.”
Calantha placed a reassuring hand on her back, “We will take him down, Erik will not be King. Not on my watch.”
Nakia sat up straight and wiped her tears away, “you’re right. We are gonna do this.”
Calantha shape shifted into the male and nodded, “we are gonna do this!”
Stepping out of the vehicle with a light skip in her step she makes it with Nakia through Wakanda.
“Our meet up location will be far away into the country of Wakanda, got it? More towards the border.”
She nodded towards Nakia, “got it.”
“Well good luck my friend.”
Upon seeing the throne her anger boiled within her.
“Your majesty,” Calantha says in her disguise. “I have a gift for you.”
As those words came out of her mouth the culprit, the man who thinks he can take Wakanda away, turned around. He walked right up to her with a look of a predator.
“What do you want fool? Can’t you see I’m workin here?”
Upon seeing his face Calantha’s face froze. She did not expect for him to be that handsome. “Aww why do all the good lookin boys gotta be bad?” Calantha thought in her head.
She looked him down and up, “My apologizes, I was wanting to make a feast for you and any of your guest. I want your kingship to be honorable and memorable, so please as a gift let me do this.” Calantha almost felt like her mouth was not even hers. She kept that anger she had deep down so as not to ruin the mission. Everyone around the room had their mouths open in shock or their jaws clenched in anger.
Erik looked all over her, his presence seeming threatening.
“Lets talk somewhere a little more, private. Y’all don’t disturb us.”
Erik lead her outside where the sun was still shining and the breeze felt nice. Down below were people working and talking, going about their day.
“Who are you really? Hmm?”
Calantha chuckled, “I have already told you. I am a simple farmer, I have lived on the border all my life. All I want is to make a dinner for you. Our King.” Her plan was to entice him, reel him in and then the last second when he is not looking Calantha will take care of him and make sure he is not a nuisance again. She awaited for his answer.
Nakia had put, from Shuri, a hidden camera inside your outfit. It was staring directly right at Erik.
“Alright then, do what you gotta do,” Erik called to her, shrugging and leaving.
Calantha quickly placed her hand on his arm. “Is there any dish you specifically want?”
That touch made Erik curious about who Calantha was. He took her hand off his arm and gave her a mean look. “Do whatever y’all do over there. I’m fine with anything.”
Calantha nodded her head. Erik stood there, eyeing her. “So do you got a name?”
Her eyes went back and forth, her brain searching for an answer. “Yes. My name is-”
Suddenly, two guards came in with some important duties that Erik had to attend. Erik left her in a state of fear and unknown.
Calantha quickly wiped her brow. She was indeed scared, but why?
“Did you get all that?” Calantha asked as she entered the secret building Nakia was in. She quickly transformed into herself.
“Yep, clean and solid. What name were you gonna come up with?” Nakia raised a brow at Calantha.
Calantha stumbled over her words, “I was going to say something. I am very good at making up things on the spot.”
Nakia laughed and Calantha twirled her dark blonde hair between her fingers, concentrating. She put the camera in the system and gave the first encounter a look over. “This is good,” Calantha said as she walked back and forth, a forefinger resting upon her bottom lip. “If I can just get more of trusting relationship with him then for sure I can get him into our grasps.”
“It wont be easy, you know? Erik is surrounded by many guards and the Dora Milaje. You might not get out alive,” Nakia sounded worried. Calantha pushed those worry's aside. “If I make it out great if I don’t then, oh well, I don’t have family and anybody in my life so its not like its a waste.”
Nakia gave her a saddened look. Calantha looked down sad, “right! So I’m gonna go, look through town and see if I can get us any food.”
Nakia nodded and gave her a hug goodbye.
Calantha walked out in a Wakandan outfit. The clothing was beautiful, all the colors, shapes, the stitching, it made the clothes look like a masterpiece.
She walked out putting sunglasses on, her hair swaying with the breeze. Looking magical and as if it were to take her away, far away from any of the worlds. To a place unimaginable.
As she was looking down while walking she accidentally bumped into someone.
“Hold on there baby, you okay?” Said a familiar voice. Calantha looked up, her green eyes bugging out. She placed her sun glasses closer to her face. “Hey,” said that voice. “I ain’t never seen you here before?” It was Erik Killmonger. The new King.
Calantha picked herself up and dusted her clothes, “yeah you ain’t ever seen me around cause I don’t want you to. Sorry.” Calantha wanted to get away from him. She didn’t approve of his attitude and before she would do something she regretted she left him shocked.
“Oooh she a feisty one,” Erik said to himself. Calantha turned a corner, looking back she spotted no one following her. “Phew, that was a close one.”
She kept walking forward but unknown to her someone was following her.
As she made it to the waterfall she breathed in the air. The rich soil of Wakanda wafted through her nose. It smelled of pure nature. Again she looked behind her. No one. “Good,” she thought as she took off her shades and her clothes off. Nobody would come here surely. She took her clothes off and was left in her bra and panties.
On the edge of the cliff she gently pushed herself off the rock and with a splash landed in the cold, clear water. “Ahh this feels so good,” she groaned.
“Can I join?”
Calantha quickly looked back and with a surprised face saw Erik.
“What the hel*!” She shouted, rushing on out of the water to grab her clothes. As she was about to grab them Erik had already gotten a hold of them. “Whats the matter baby girl?”
She tried to cover herself up the best way possible. “I want my stuff.” She went to grab for it again but Erik clutched her arm. So now her face was staring directly into his. Her green eyes seemed sweet but also menacing. She stared at him, her skin glowing with the sun. She looked like a goddess in Erik’s eyes. Oh no, Erik was falling, falling for a stranger.
“Dam* girl,” he muttered under his breath.
“For god’s sake did you follow me?” Calantha pulled her arm out of his grip.
Erik shrugged, “maybe.”
Calantha rubbed her temples, “fine I’ll leave here this way. Enjoy the water...alone!”
As Calantha was about to walk away Erik grabbed her waist making her become very close to him. His lips went to her ear and he breathed out, “I don’t think you wanna do that. See some of the creeps here will rip you apart like you ain’t nothing. I’m just tryin to protect ya.”
Calantha blushed at his actions and unwrapped herself from his grip. “I think I can handle myself Mr. Savior. You have never seen me rip apart somebody.” Calantha then walked up to Erik and went to his ears and whispered, “and trust me, its not pretty.” Just then a breeze came in and made Calantha shiver, she tried to cover her bare arms.
Erik bit his lips and threw her clothes on the rock. “You want your clothes? Let me swim with ya.”
Calantha gave Erik a glare and then entered into the water again, she swam away.
Erik then started to remove his clothing.
(i legit stared at this gif for like a total of 10 minutes now i look like a creep)
Erik saw though that Calantha was staring at him from the corner of her eyes.
“Like what you see?”
Calantha turned to his attention when he walked in the water. “What are those?” She asked, pointing to the markings on his skin.
Erik looked down and smirked, “for all my kills.”
Calantha nodded, “Well, seems like you killed a lot. Did they hurt you?”
Erik felt the temperature of the water, enjoying the movement of it. “Nah, did this to myself. Ain’t a lot things these days that can hurt me anymore.”
Calantha understood that completely. “I totally get it. When you don’t got no one it gets easier. No one can hurt me now.”
“Why what happened to you?”
Calantha stared into the water, feeling the sadness creep up on her. “Its complicated. Sometimes I feel that life finds away to make your existence a living hel*.”
“Dam* thats dark as hel*. But thats how I felt.”
She bit her lip and swam away but said, “Life is dark.” She then swam away under the waterfall. As she went her hair got wet and her face was splashed with the cool, clear water. Calantha didn’t know this but Erik was staring at her. His heart, unknown to him, was beating fast, and pounding like a drum. The elegance and beauty he saw when she went behind the waterfall made him want her more.
Calantha pushed her hair back and just tried to enjoy the time she had being in the waterfall. She would have to get out soon, seeing that it was already getting dark. She did not want Erik to get any ideas of who she was, then it would ruin the whole mission. Calantha looked through the waterfall to see if Erik was still there but he was gone!
“Where did that idiot run off to? Fine, at least this gives me time to go-”
“So you ever gonna tell me your name?” Erik asked, his face only a few centimeters apart from Calantha’s.
She jumped and almost drowned but Erik caught her in his arms. “You okay there baby?”
Calantha gave him a look of annoyance. His arms felt so strong to her. Like they could lift any weight. They were powerful, almost like brick solid.
“What are you doing to yourself Calantha. Stop paying attention to him! This is the guy you’re trying to take down, remember?” She scolded herself in her head. Erik started to rub softly her legs and give her a face of god a face that was so handsome! He was biting his plump, juicy lips, awaiting her answer.
Calantha got out of his grip before the encounter went sideways. “Hey can I ask you a question? Do you call all your girls baby, baby girl, or just the mysterious ones?”
“Only the beautiful ones, besides I didn’t get your name,” Erik seemed flirting with her. Winking at the end of his sentence.
“Fine, those pet names are fine...I guess,” Calantha rubbed her arm sheepishly and started blushing. She felt this was not fair! Never had a man done this to her, she was a strong, independent woman and now Erik was screwing that whole idea up. Erik saw Calantha unsure, he came in closer with a pure face of knowing. Calantha put her hand out to stop him, “well this was nice but I think I should be leaving now, have fun.” She quickly got out of the water and tried to dry herself the best way possible. While getting out Erik looked at her, biting his lip and cursing under his breath at the sight he saw.
Calantha grabbed her clothes and put them on quickly.
“Wait!” Erik said, getting out the water as well.
“Give me a break,” Calantha muttered under her breath. She turned around and saw Erik running to her in all his glory. His chest glistened from the water.
“Let me take you out to dinner. Treat you.”
She rolled her eyes and combed her hair with her fingers. “No Erik, I got stuff to do.”
“I don’t usually do this to girls so you’d be the first. Just please let me take you out and show you Wakanda. I know the best part of these streets.”
“And if I keep saying no?”
Erik walked up to Calantha and raised his brows, “well then I guess you don’t get to go with a King, and I may follow you. So its your choice.”
Erik waited for her answer, patiently, while she grumbled and whined in annoyance. She could not have it that Erik follow her.
“Fine,” she gave in, rolling her eyes.
Walking the streets of Wakanda, Calantha made sure to have an eye open for Erik. She had a thought, she too this way could get close to him and figure out whats his deal is with Wakanda.
Calantha was not going to lie to herself though. She did have a fun time with him. Its been a while since Calantha spent some quality time with someone, let alone a man. She felt confident and for a short time she pretended that it was a date. She pretended that she didn’t have to take Erik down, just for a couple of hours she wanted to live a fantasy.
They both were in a middle of a conversation about the time she went to Spain with her friends.
“Okay so what did y’all tell your friend?” Erik asked sipping on a Wakandan drink. Both of them went to go have dinner and Calantha was surprised at herself. She was more talkative then ever. She was laughing and enjoying her time with Erik. They were together for hours. She told things to Erik that she had never told to anyone. It felt good.
“Well me and my friends ended up dragging her drunk as* out of the restaurant and everyone was looking at us and just probably thinking we were crazy. Those were the good times though.” Calantha sipped her drink, lightly bumping into Erik. She looked down trying not to make a show but Erik saw her expression.
“What happened to your friends?”
Calantha pushed her hair back and gave her attention to Erik, “They all have passed. I’m the only one who hasn’t. Sometimes I wish I could change that. But I really do not have anyone. I am all alone.”
Erik looked at her guilty, he felt bad for her. “I know how you feel. When my pop’s died I felt that way, I still feel that way. What hurts more I think is that you see and know that some people deserve the worst, and yet they don’t get shi*. You know what I mean.”
Calantha just nodded knowing what he meant by that. She had read about and heard about Erik’s life and why he was so angry with the world.
“Sometimes though we need to let go in order to keep living. We need to let go of the past to open the door to the future. At least that’s what I think. Sorry I know you’re probably bothered or weirded out by my philosophical talking.”
Erik shook his head and sipped his drink, “nah its cool, I get it.”
Calantha then started shivering, her arms wrapped around herself trying to stay warm. “Man its chilly tonight. Should of brought a stupid jacket.”
“Hey, here, look, take mine,” Erik offered taking off his long, black, kingly robe.
“Oh I shouldn't, you’ll be cold as well now.” Calantha pushed the black robe to him.
“Baby, just take it. You see my muscles? I am always heated up, especially when I look at you.”
“Good one,” she rolled her eyes, grabbing the robe and putting it on. “Thanks.”
Erik just nodded and sipped his drink some more. Calantha hated herself in that moment. The robe smelled just like him. It was rough, manly, a little bit cologne. It made goosebumps run down her whole body. She felt she was getting high off the smell, it was truly intoxicating.
That night Erik and Calantha stayed out late, they laughed, joked, flirted with each other. Calantha was happy, but she didn’t know why? Was it because this makes their relationship closer and now she can get to him easier? Or is it because she genuinely was having a good time with him? She felt herself slipping away bit by bit. They both were a mystery for each other yet they spent time together like they’ve known each other for years.
Calantha then paused at a random house and stood still, “well this is me. Hope you have a good night, and next time don’t force someone to go out with you.”
Erik laughed and scratched his head, “will I see you again?”
Calantha shrugged, “probably not, I’ve got work to do and to be honest you kinda annoy me a little.” She shrugged the robe off and gave it to him. Calantha gave him a smirk while Erik laughed at her statement. “Girl you know you wanted to go out with me. Just say it. I’m gonna count that as a I will see you soon.”
“Bye Erik,” Calantha chuckled closing the door. As she saw Erik leave she turned into a Wakandan female just to leave the area and go to Nakia.
Calantha was truly falling for Erik. She spent every morning with him as the Wakandan male, preparing his feast. Then Erik would try to find Calantha transformed into herself everyday and surely enough he would find her. She did not want to be with him, she did not accept how selfish he was. For gods sake he killed King T’Challa! That thought made Calantha smirk in success, for she was getting closer and closer with him and she was gaining his trust. Calantha was going to take him down, once and for all.
But Nakia was worried, every time Calantha would come home from the mission Nakia saw the lovesick grin on Calantha’s face. She and Calantha had many fights on why Calantha should not see Erik anymore. But Calantha would just brush off the fact that she did find Erik interesting and had a liking to him.
The feast was the next day. Calantha had to get everything prepared and ready for that day. She was transformed into the male and getting everything ready for the day when she would have to take down Erik.
“Aye man,” Erik came in the room. “Hows it goin?”
She nodded her head, “its coming around. The feast should be ready by tomorrow night.”
“Good I was hoping that, you know. Hey, can you leave a seat next to my chair empty with like a lil v.i.p paper on there or something, I’m gon invite someone important to this feast.”
Calantha felt her heart sink in her chest. Someone? “Oh really, well may I ask who is it.”
Erik looked out the window and smiled, “its a girl, and the funny thing is hel* I don’t even know her name.”
Calantha felt terrible, what did she expect though? He has moved on, it was better this way. Calantha felt tears running down her face. She turned around, “excuse me I have something in my eye.” She then ran away with Erik still talking. Erik looked back and saw that Calantha wasn’t there, he ran after her or who he thought was a man.
She sat there and transformed into her true self. She stood by the wall, trying to hold herself together, but the tears were unstoppable.
“Hey what happened-baby? What are you, but I thought I saw, what in the hel*?” Erik looked around trying to find Calantha but her transformed as a guy. Erik was now curious about her. How did she appear so fast and not the other guy? Erik pondered a little bit over that thought but then realized she was crying right in front of him.
“What happened?” Was all he asked, kneeling down to her trying to get a good look at his face.
Calantha could not believe this moment that was happening right in front of her eyes! She was crying over a guy thinking he was with another woman, and she was being consoled by a evil person, a villain!
“Baby girl, tell me whats wrong, now.” Erik took a hold of her arms and pushed them down to her sides so he could see her face. Tears were evident and there were tear stains left on her cheek. Her eye lashes were thick from the tears and her lips were puckered up. She looked so beautiful in his eyes.
“I just,” Calantha could not tell him the truth. She could not tell him that she was the guy even though she really wanted to, and badly. “I was just remembering about my friends.”
Erik understood and brought her tiny body into his arms. There she felt comforted, safe, and loved. She shook her head and wiped the tears away, pushing herself away from Erik’s chest where she really wanted to be.
“No I can’t do this anymore. Erik, we can’t keep seeing each other anymore, I, I don’t want to.” She stood up and pushed Erik away. Erik gave her a look of confusion. “Why can’t you do this anymore? I don’t understand what you’re talking about.”
“I just...can’t Erik. I can’t anymore.”
Erik grabbed Calantha’s hands and massaged them gently, “well then maybe this will change your mind.” Erik softly placed his two hands on her cheeks and slowly inched closer to her. Their lips met. To Calantha it was perfect, his lips were so plush and soft. She felt like she was in heaven.
(not my gif! do not own!)
Calantha wanted Erik so bad, she deepened the kiss, placing her delicate hands on the back of his head. She felt complete with that embrace, she felt something spark within her. It was the feeling of love, how did she come to love her enemy? The man she was supposed to take down? She was at a loss for words but at this moment nothing else mattered except that splendid kiss.
Erik backed away and kissed her forehead, “how was that baby?”
“Calantha,” she just blurted out of nowhere.
“That’s your name?” Erik said out to her.
She nodded, “yeah, I figured you want to know, although I don’t truly hate the name baby.” She gave Erik a smirk caressing his face, brushing through his facial hair.
“Calantha? You know you got a nice name like its really beautiful,” Erik bashfully said, scratching his nose and looking down.
Calantha bit her lips and tried hard not to smile at him being embarrassed, “that’s really sweet of you Erik, thank you.” Calantha couldn’t resist the feeling of wanting another kiss, but as she was about to kiss Erik again a guard came out of nowhere and interrupted the moment.
“All these dam* people be interruptin me at the wrong time y’all.” Erik cursed under his breath. As he was about to leave he turned back to Calantha, “hey baby, I would like for you to be my special quest in a feast I’m havin tomorrow. How you feel about that?”
Calantha tried hard not to show that she was surprised and now gonna be screwed. She forgot all about the mission! Erik gave her a face of concern and worry. Calantha felt bad to say no so with a defeated sigh she agreed to his proposal.
“I, I would love to Erik.”
Calantha was stressed to the max, she felt that she let Nakia, T’Challa, everyone down. She pondered over her thoughts for many hours and her conclusion was simple and to the point. She had to take down Erik. She came here for a purpose, it was not to fall in love, it was not to start a new chapter in her life, no, it was simply to take Erik down and make sure he would not resurface to this world again.
The plan was Nakia would portray a guest in the feast since Calantha placed her name down. Nakia would disguise herself. Calantha would come in as the male getting the feast together and then when Erik is not looking Calantha and Nakia would take him down together.
Calantha had set the feast up already, she was proud of herself. She felt she really captured the culture and beauty of Wakanda in the decor.
“Prefect,” she whispered out loud, she was transformed into the male Wakandan. She stared at awe at the feast table.
“Your majesty, where would you like me to place the extra chair, your,” she took a gulp. “Special quest.”
Erik pointed to the seat next to him, “put my baby girl over there, right next to me. So I can keep an eye on her and make sure she happy, you know what I’m sayin?”
Calantha nodded and her heart fluttered at his nickname for her, she felt herself feel now pain than anything. She ordered someone to place the chair next to Erik’s high and mighty one.
Soon quests were coming in, one by one the room started to fill up and that made Calantha more and more nervous. She wiped her forehead of sweat and gave each and every person their personal chair.
Then Nakia came in, with her disguise on. Calantha knew this plan would roll on even if she didn’t want it to.
“Are you ready?” Nakia asked, showing a smile to people as they walked by.
Calantha secretly nodded and left the room.
Calantha could hear that Erik made an announcement for people to eat and enjoy themselves.
Calantha stood by where no one was around. She looked back and forth, “no one, good. C’mon Calantha you got this girl, you are just gonna do this small thing and then you can go home in your beautiful space ship and live your life like what you felt with Erik was a dream it did not happen.” Calantha was too busy putting on her black fighting suit that she didn’t hear someone walking to her voice. She was finished taking her clothes off when then Erik appeared.
“Calantha?”
“Erik! Oh my god!” Calantha was shocked and terrified.
“Baby we can’t keep meeting like this,” Erik chuckled eyeing her up and down, taking in her site of just in a bra and panties. Erik licked his lips and gave her a look of a predator, as if he were to pounce on her.
Calantha pushed back her hair, “I just, um my dress broke and I don’t have a new one. Darn guess I can’t make the dinner.” She was just about to leave when Erik grabbed onto her arm, “I got an extra dress for you if you want to wear it, I think it would look sexy on ya.”
Calantha couldn’t get out of this one, “sure.”
She had to do this for T’Challa, for his family, for Wakanda.
Erik was wearing his suit that matched her dress.
They walked hand in hand to the dinner. Calantha wished it would never happen, she wished this were all a dream and soon she was gonna wake up. The moment went by to her in slow motion, every feeling in her body resurfacing all at once. Her heels clanked through the hall and she knew one way or another...
Erik was going to not be King of Wakanda anymore.
As Calantha walked in everyone gasped to see her, they did not think Erik would find anyone with how selfish and evil he is. Nakia saw Calantha that she was transformed into her true self. Calantha could tell Nakia was truly irate, her face showed it all. As Calantha and Erik sat down Nakia stood up. “I would like to raise a toast!” Everyone in the room raised their glasses and Nakia gave Calantha a angry look. She went on to say, “Friends are tough, they are rough around the edges. They agree on stuff you say today, and disagree on the stuff you say tomorrow. You feel sometimes you can trust them, but other times they completely forget that trust.”
Calantha just wanted to hide away in her spaceship, she wanted to get away and never return. Calantha quickly touched lightly her weapons that were hiding under the table. She did not want to do this.
“Calantha,” Nakia says, and Calantha knew soon she must fight Erik. Nakia went on, “you are my dearest friend, and as your friend I want you to do one thing to him,” and as Nakia raises her glass higher to her mouth to drink she licks her lips and takes off her disguise, “kill him.”
Calantha quickly shot up and ripped her dress of to show her black one piece, fighting suit. She pointed her hand gun to Erik and shrugged, “you knew this had to happen.”
Erik slowly drank his drink and chuckled, “so you’re the bitc* I gotta kill. Well then,” suddenly Erik turns into a Panther Habit of his own. It was black and gold. Calantha screams in anger at him because she knows Shuri made the suit. “You do not deserve that suit,” shouts an irate Nakia.
Nakia threw one of her ring blades to Erik while he dodged the attack. Nakia jumped to him while Calantha started shooting Erik from her handgun. Erik cuts the bullets in half with his Wakandan swords and throws one of them in the air. He then gets his claws from his suit and cuts Nakia on her side stomach. Nakia winces and holds the wound with pressure. Calantha worryingly goes to Nakia and as Calantha is there with her Erik is trying to fight Calantha. Calantha moves Nakia to a safe corner and leans her against the wall.
Nakia places a hand on Calantha’s shoulder. “You need to finish this fight.”
Calantha placed a finger to her chest, “me? But why me?”
“Because you are a hero. You can save Wakanda. I believe in you.”
Calantha looked to the dining room area where Erik was at and nodded her head in determination. “Wait here, this won’t take too long.” Calantha cracked her knuckles and suddenly shape shifted into a rhino. She ran fast to Erik, Erik was enticing her, opening his arms like if this was a game. “So you can shape shift into animals and humans. Dam* too bad you couldn’t be used in something more...bad.”
Calantha ran to him and tried piercing him with her horn. But he dodged and instead hopped on the side of her. She was messing the whole room up! She trampled everything trying to get Erik off her side. Finally, Erik pushed his leg to hit her stomach and that sent her falling over. Calantha quickly turned into herself and grabbed her rifle.
Erik already had blood on his face and cuts and bruises. Calantha was out of breath, her hair all disheveled and cuts and bruises on her too.
“Why did you do this to me? You know I thought we had something special. I thought you was the one. But nah, you gotta prove to me that your like everyone else in this world. A liar!”
Calantha shot her rifle at him a couple of times and screamed, “I am not! Okay yes Erik your childhood, what T’Chaka did to you was extremely wrong. We are imperfect, my childhood was not easy. At least you had a father, I didn’t have either. I have been all alone all my life! But you don’t see me wanting to hurt others, no! No, I put my pain and heartache in protecting people, strangers. Just because something bad happens to you Erik doesn’t mean you gotta take it out on the world.”
Erik took his mask off, “Its not just the world! Its my pop, he was everything that I had. You didn’t know your fam, you didn’t know your dad so you don’t know how it feels like to lose someone.”
Calantha had tears in her eyes and she was shocked, “me? Don’t know how it feels to lose someone? I lost everybody I ever love in my life. All my friends outlived me and died while I was still breathing. I can’t die, Erik! So everyone I love, Nakia, this beautiful place, everyone I ever loved, will be gone but you know what I will still be here to go through all their deaths. This would of never worked out Erik...Because I could never watch the person that I love die while I still keep going on. Its just too much for me.”
Erik walked up to her and grabbed her hands, “I know you didn’t want to do this. But I ain’t got no choice.” Erik bent down and placed his forehead against hers and kissed her lips again. Calantha welcomed it and realized she was too in love with this man. She was in love with him too deep already and she didn’t know how to come out. She needed to make sure that Erik would be okay. Calantha quickly got a injection out of her pocket and stabbed Erik in his neck.
“What the f-” Erik then fell.
Nakia came running from the corner, “did you do it? Did you put the lethal injection in him?”
Calantha nodded, “he is better than gone.”
Nakia hugged Calantha and thanked her. “I have word my friend that they have found T’Challa!”
Calantha laughed and nodded, “I’m so happy. I’m glad I could help. Let me just take care of this,” she pointed to Erik.
Nakia nodded and left. While Calantha ran to the waterfall and dropped him there. “Goodbye Erik, I know you were fighting because you were hurt. I’m sorry.”
In Calantha’s spaceship the beautiful melody of “Here Comes the Sun” by the Beatles was playing at a low tone. She read her books about mythology and their wonders. Ate her snacks and just relaxed. She then heard a groan. Smirking to herself she got up and swiftly walked over to the groan. “Hey sleepy head, how you feeling?”
A figure moves from the sheets and stands tall and high, “like shi*, where did you throw me again?”
Calantha chuckled and kissed his lips, “the waterfall. I put the heater on in here to get you warm.”
Erik wore a grey hoodie and some sweat pants, with black socks. Calantha wore her jeans, hoodie and adidas. “You look good in that Calantha,” Erik complimented her.
Calantha held his hand and brought him to a chair next to hers.
“So where are we going baby?” Erik asked, embracing Calantha from behind.
Calantha shrugs, “anywhere.”

Outfits and accessories identified by @GetOnSwag: list
Along with the first poster, another teaser was published on Instagram. It shows the eight recurring items that can be linked to the boys. The connections were found by _macchamilktea and jhopeah on Twitter. As for the eighth one, the bottle, it contains their memories in the form of colorful clouds and has labels such as “Worldwide”, “The Wings Tour The Final”, or “BTS 3rd Muster”.
Concerning the main poster, it shows a factory to create bottles of memories. It’s handled by the boys and full of little references.
Following the production line we have:
The scroll and the color purple are associated with RM. He’s the Recipe Messenger thus the “clouds recipe” machine.
His outfit looks like the one he wore on the 24 September 2017, for the Super Concert. The bag is probably a reference to the one he had for a while (x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x) and that his mother disliked (found thanks to Reddit). During 2 Cool 4 Skool and ORUL8,2? he had glasses in both the concept and the MV. As he’s also famous for his clumsiness, the glasses are broken and repaired with tape, something he actually did during a fansign on the 6 July 2013. He also broke a pair during American Hustle Life and in BTS Comeback Show, where we also discovered the tomato lamp. It’s a gift from Hoseok for Namjoon’s birthday.
The lollipop and the color green are associated with j-hope. He’s the compounder, he reduces the sweet moments symbolized by lollipops to dust.
As the main dancer, obviously he’s dancing, the “ho! ho!” and his pose indicate he’s doing his favorite move from “Save Me”. His outfit is the one from the performance at Music Bank, on the 22 September 2017. A BOMB from that day was released. Next to him is a Bearbrick in reference to Hobi’s hobby of collecting the figurines. He posted photographs of his collection on Twitter (here’s a partial list of the figurines) and showed his Snoopy during the Episode for the group’s first birthday. A Bearbrick was even featured in his poster for BTS Begins.
The fact there are seven lollipops is probably to remind the seven members.
The cotton candy and the color red are associated with V. He’s the chef, the machine next to him turns the lollipop dust into a memory cloud.
He’s seen harvesting because he considered becoming a farmer before becoming an artist.
The field forms the logo for the fandom, namely ARMY.
The cutlery and the color orange are associated with Jin. He’s the taster, he checks the memory clouds before the bottling.
Jin is the only one who’s not in his corner but at another place. He has two sugar gliders, Odeng and Eomuk. He posted several times on Twitter with them: x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x. We also saw them in Mnet’s BTS Comeback Show. He’s learning how to play the guitar. You can see him play in one of his Eat Jin episode with Jimin and Jungkook (around 3:50). He also played during the 2016 Fanmeetings in Japan (it’s probably where his outfit is from) and in his Puma Bog Sock cf. Jin is known to like the color pink (cue the pink lamp) and food. He has a personal show called “Eat Jin”, available on Youtube and Vlive for the recent ones.
The ribbon and the color yellow are associated with Jung Kook. He’s the decorator, thus the ribbons and probably the tape that he puts on the bottles of memories.
The fact he’s lifting the conveyor belt and the pink dumbbell are there to remind us he’s the most muscular in the group. The bag and the hat are references to Bon Voyage S2 in Hawai. The trophy in the bag is a reference to his lines in “Mic Drop”:
Did you see my bag It’s full of trophies
Lastly, his outfit is a reference to the one he wore for the 2017 K-POP World Festival in Changwon.
The quill and the color pink are associated with SUGA. He’s the labeler, thus his desk with all the labels ready to be written on to indicate which memory the bottle contains.
The mic is a reference to his iconic move at the end of “Mic Drop”. The fact he’s sleeping and the lounger remind his reputation of being lazy/always sleeping.
The ladder and the color blue are associated with Jimin. He’s the curator, thus his position near the shelves where he put the bottles of memories.
The yellow blanket, his outfit, his hair, the calico cat, and the telescope are all reference to his solo intro for LOVE YOURSELF Her, “Serendipity”. The plaid shirt is something Jimin wears often (x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x), especially yellow ones (x, x, x, x, x).
More items were dispersed here and there:
The flowers from the cover of Love Yourself承 Her
The top part of the Army Bomb, the group official lightstick
V’s tiger necklaces and Vmin’s swing.
V showed the green pendant in one of his solo VLive (starting 4:59) and said he associates himself with a (baby) tiger and that he bought it with Jimin in New York.
Concerning the swing, Jimin and Taehyung played around one during their stay in the U.S. to record Dark & Wild and film American Hustle Life.
The flower from the Puma Courtstar campaign
Jimin’s manggaetok.
Jimin is associated with those glutinous rice cakes because of his soft-looking cheeks that reminded fans of the treat.
Jin’s Mario collection. He even danced with a Mario plushie during “Just One Day” practice)
Jin’s birthday gift to Jimin (found thanks to Reddit)
Sope uniforms.
Sope is the name of the subunit formed by SUGA and j-hope. They have their own show, Hwagae Market (pre-opening, teaser ep1, ep1, ep2, ep3, special section in the 4M followers celebration, ep4, ep5), they made their debut during the 2016 fanmeetings in Japan but they had already sung during the 2016 Festa party (starting 58:13) as SOPE-ME. The BOMB of their training can be found here.
The house from the 2017 Festa.
During the 2017 Festa three songs were released: “4 o’clock”, “We don’t talk anymore Pt.2″ and “So far away” featuring Jin and Jung Kook. All the illustrations for those songs can be connected to form a house under a full moon.
The mailbox (우편 is written on it and simply means “mail”). It’s just an assumption but since the previous musters were named after zip codes, I guess it’s to reference them.
On the right, we can see the logos for BTS and ARMY together.
The seven colors associated to the boys are all aligned below: red/V, orange/J, yellow/JK, green/JH, blue/JM, pink/SG, purple/RM. You can also see them on the balloons surrounding the giant bottle in the middle.
The remaining elements are the trophies won by the boys. We can see the prizes from the following events:
Korean Popular Culture & Arts Awards
Mnet Asian Music Awards
and 8. Seoul Music Awards
Inkigayo
Golden Disk Awards
Show Champion
Billboard Music Awards
In the preview of the DVD little details were added to the poster. It’s actually drawings made by the boys to describe themselves:
RM drew Koya, his BT21 character
j-hope drew Mang, his BT21 character
V drew Yeontan, his dog
Jung Kook drew a camera
SUGA drew Holly, his dog
Jimin drew accessories
Jin drew RJ, his BT21 character
During the show
Jimin was wearing a Thom Browne outfit (cr.).
We see the recipe:
Memories of BTS and ARMY
~ memory cloud instructions ~
You only need a few ingredients for your handmade memory cloud
• 4 cups of Happiness • 1 cups of Awesomeness • 2 cups of Laughter • 1/4 teaspoon of Hope • 3 tablespoon of Joyfulness (can use other things, such as Delight, ****) • 1/2 tablespoon of Wonder • 2 drops of pink Love • 3 cups of pleasure
Gather up these ingredients: it’s time to make the happy memory you’ve been craving. If you’d like your memory cloud to be a different color, substitute the two drops of pink love coloring for something else - *** excitement, green hope, or purple joy would all make ******* memory cloud hues.
The ingredients have colors fitting with the boys’ (credits and all my thanks to @honeyhoneysugarsugar for seeing Jin’s and V’s, you can see their reblog in the notes of this post):
Wonder: orange = Jin
Joyful: pink = SUGA
Laugh: green = j-hope
Touching: purple = RM
Awesomeness: blue = Jimin
Happy: red = V
Hope: yellow = Jung Kook
You can also see a little Apollo Belvedere torso behind Jin in his room. There was also an Apollo Belvedere during the Mnet stage of “Blood, Sweat & Tears.”
During Jin’s delirium we can see an alpaca - an animal often associated with Jin, RJ is an alpaca for example - but also a text that’s actually Windows’ Blue screen of death.
____________
Apart from the adventures of the ARMY BOMB fairies, we also got a sequel to House of Army with Guardians of the ARMY BOMB. Dad Jungkook, big brother Taehyung, as well as uncle Yoongi, thus make their comeback after their first apparition in the 3rd muster. We see them being protected by the guardians of the ARMY BOMB.
Jin published a picture of RM as a guardian for the leader’s birthday in 2019.

Namjoon My Hedgehog
Part 4 of Let Me Tell You a Story series
Yoongi Taehyung Hoseok Jimin Seokjin Jungkook OT7
Masterlist
PLEASE COMMENT/REBLOG, IT LETS ME KNOW IF Y'ALL LIKE MY WRITING/WANT MORE AND HELPS MORE PEOPLE SEE IT
Based on the episode from Jim Henson's "The Storyteller"
Hans My Hedgehog is an adaptation by Jim Henson's "The Storyteller" series of the story by the Brothers Grimm, "Hans My Hedgehog."
A lesson in being careful what you wish for, but also of the power of loyal love.
I really like making the narrator almost a part of the story, so if the fourth wall breaks a bit here and there, that’s just me/my narrator interacting with the story.
Moodboard (also available on my Instagram). Cross-posted on AO3.
I know the characterization might be off, but I don't care. I love this one and no one can change my mind.
Pairing: Namjoon/Fem!Reader
Genre: Fluff/Slight angst
Words: 6,111
Warnings: None
Let me tell you a story. Imagine a cold night, and a dark night. And imagine a bed with a farmer and his wife fast asleep snuggling up for warmth. And in this bed, the farmer, shivering, reaches out for his wife. But instead of a head he finds a foot, because his missus is rubbing noses with their dog, who sleeps at the foot of the bed every night.
“Oh, no!” groans the farmer.
“Just for tonight,” his wife pleads.
“Don’t be dense, woman.”
“One night won’t hurt,” she reasons. “It might work.”
“Sleeping upside down? What good’s that going to do?”
“Midwife said it sometimes helps.”
“You’re not going to get a child. If you want company, get a widow woman up from the village. Now come up this end. I’m proper frozen.”
But the farmer’s wife didn’t want a widow for company, she wanted a baby. And she’d wanted this child for what seemed like a lifetime until she couldn’t bear to watch the lambs born, or the calves come, or the eggs hatch, it hurt her so. And she drove the farmer mad with her books and her charms and remedies.
They say if you stay three days in a smoke pit...
They say if you bathe first in mud and then in blood and then in nettle milk...
They say if you kiss a thrush, eat a worm, swallow a frog...
Any of these will get us a son.
The farmer could not listen. Off he would stomp to the fields. No one wanted a son more than he did. His bones were stiff in the wind and he couldn't bend as he once could bend. He chopped and scythed and bundled and milked and walked and cropped, and all the while he hoped for a little boy to sit on his shoulders, to push the hat down over his eyes and chase the sheep and worry the hens from their laying. Oh yes, he yearned. But he never liked to speak of it. After, he felt bad.
Nothing would deter his wife, however. One night, while the farmer was taking his bath, he felt something strange about the bath water.
“This stings!” he complained.
“That’s good,” his wife seemed pleased.
“Good?”
“I’m making you a nice tonic and all. To be drunk night and morning. I want a child. I wouldn’t care if it were a strange thing made of marzipan or porridge; if it were ugly as a hedgehog. I want a baby; to wrap in a bundle, and sing to, and cuddle with, and hug to bits.” As she spoke, the wind picked up, swirling the leaves outside and slamming the windows shut.
Now, to say that you wouldn’t care when you want something is a dangerous thing. That woman wanted a baby so bad she couldn't care what she got.
If she got a hedgehog, she'd bring its snout to her breast.
Ears twitched that shouldn't have been listening.
And no sooner said than done, she got her wish, the farmer's wife.
She's all swollen stomach, and thinks it's the baths he took or the sleeping upside down.
She has her boy, and straightaway there he is little ball, as ugly as sin with a pointed nose and sprouting quills everywhere. But this hedgehog baby had quills as soft as feathers, a perfect smile, the brightest brown eyes like Arabian coffee, or South American chocolate.
But in fact, of course it's the saying you wouldn't care what you got that gets you damned.
As everyone that’s heard a proper story knows.
And his mother held him to her breast and wrapped him in a bundle and cuddled him and hugged him to bits.
And she gave him the name Namjoon.
“Namjoon my hedgehog,” she called him.
Yes, the mother loved her baby all right.
"Hey, beastie!" they would yell, smug as bugs. "Hey, hairy! Hey, critterchops! Hey, prickleback!"
But the farmer could not look at Namjoon. He didn't see the eyes like coffee, he only saw folks giggle. He didn't feel the softness, he only felt the pitying stars on him. He didn't hear the lullabies, only the jibes, the speculations, the tittle-tattle of small minds with much to murmur of. No, he wouldn't go out, would not be seen with the child, rage and humiliation boiling in him. And the farmer grew to hate his son, the hedgehog boy. Out in the fields he chopped and scythed and bundled and milked, and all the while the shame of what had befallen him turned a knot in his heart - one moment the rage swelling, the next tears, huge tears splashing his boots.
So the hedgehog boy grew up, day following day, week chasing week, and his coat grew thicker and his eyes grew more brown and his nose more pointed, and he was the sweetest son to his mother; oh yes, he was a jewel at throat and wrist for her. Everywhere else the sneers and curses curled him up into a ball, the spite turned his coat into spikes, the insults teased his quills into sharp protective needles. And if he came into a room, his father would leave it. If he crept up to touch his hand, his father would shudder. This was Namjoon’s life, a world of light and dark. The farm, his home, full of animals who loved him, and his mother's cuddling. The world of folk who loathed him, and his father's brooding. Village boys would creep up to the farmyard and taunt him with their village-boy taunts, their safety-in-numbers taunts, their anything-strange-is-ugly taunts, with their terrifying normalness, their ordinary apple-red faces, their shirt-out, slow-witted, thick-tongued taunts.
And Namjoon would curl up into his ball and shiver. Then they found a name that stuck, a name they scratched on walls, whispered when he could not see them, a name to haunt him.
"Grovelhog!" they called him. "Grovelhog!"
And Namjoon my hedgehog learned he was strange, and he learned he was ugly, and he learned to be sad, and he learned the name that was given him. Grovelhog.
He retreated to the farmyard, to the animals. For every quill on his body, Namjoon had an animal for a friend, as many friends as he had quills. He had a special way with these creatures and they loved him. He could talk to them. If his mother was looking for him, she would always go first to the yard or the stables or the pens or the sties or to the place where the rooster strutted, a proud soldier of the hens. Namjoon tended to this bird, combed his comb, polished his beak, and fed and fattened him, and it wasn't long before the rooster was the biggest rooster you could imagine, a huge, vast red rooster all plump and flush-feathered. Whenever the sadness came, whenever he caught his reflection in a pool, saw his strange boybeast face, Namjoon would run to these friends and be among them, for they found him neither odd nor strange but magnificent.
His father would come home from the fields and see the boy sitting amongst them, pigs nudging his cheeks, the cows caressing him, the dogs licking his hands, and he was disgusted. And if Namjoon spoke like a boy, he ate like an animal, snout dipped into the plate, lapping, slurping, unable to use a knife or fork. Until one day his father snatched the plate from his lips and cast it out into the yard, dragging his son by the ear, then driving him into the trough.
"That's enough!" he cried. "Get out! Get out! From now on you'll eat outside with the other beasts!"
And with that he returned to the kitchen and slammed the door shut on his son.
Darkness fell and the house was quite silent. Namjoon had not returned. In one chair the wife sat, her face caught by the firelight, the tears glistening. In the other was the farmer, thick brows knitted, face set, saying nothing, but sighing often, head bowed to the floor. At length, he stood up, took a coat and a lamp, and walked out into the thick black night.
"Namjoon!" he called, swinging the lamp through the fields.
"Namjoon!" he cried, picking his way through the woods. But his son did not answer. He lay all night among the animals in the wet grass, under the sky's black velvet, and he thought and thought until he thought a hole in the ground. He did not answer his father's cries, did not return to his mother's tears, just lay there silently counting the stars.
His father wandered the dark hours, a great needle in his heart, one moment the rage welling up in him, the next tears, huge tears splashing his boots as he tramped and tramped and called and called. Until, come the morning, wretched, the farmer returned, damp through and weary. There by the step, asleep, was his son, the Grovelhog, who had never once answered back or complained or ever been anything other than the best son a man could wish for. And the farmer wanted to pick up his boy in his arms and hug him and cuddle him and love him to bits. But he couldn't. He looked down at his pointy nose and his short arms and his quills and hair and he couldn't.
"I've trudged all night for you," he barked, kicking the sleeping child awake. "And now you'll not eat for a week off my food."
Namjoon stood up, quills rippling up and down his back.
"Father," he said, "I want you to do some things for me."
The farmer was outraged.
"You what?" he barked.
"I want you to go to the village and have a saddle made for my rooster so I can ride him," Namjoon said. "And I want some of your sheep and some hens and some pigs."
Furious came the farmer's reply.
"Oh, do you now! That’s a hefty fine!"
Namjoon nodded, undeterred.
"I know which ones I'd like. And they would be happy to come with me."
"Come with you where?" demanded his father.
"To where I go," replied his son. "Which is away. Which is to somewhere where I can't hurt anyone and no one can hurt me."
“And when are you planning this trip to go away and somewhere?”
“When I have the saddle.”
Tears and anger fought in the farmer.
"You can't go nowhere. What would your mother say? Her who dotes on you?"
Namjoon did not reply but rubbed the tears from his brown eyes. Finally, he looked up and curled his mouth into a brave smile.
"Father, all night I lay outside to understand why you don't love me. I've thought and thought until I've thought a hole in the ground. And now it's all right. When I have the saddle, I'll go."
And the farmer felt ashamed. He went to the saddleman and brought home a saddle for the rooster and he herded up the animals his son had asked for and he told his wife to pack a packed lunch, and all the while the Grovelhog sat on the stoop and waited until all was ready. Then he went to his mother and she kissed him and then went to his dad and hugged him. And the farmer knew for the first time how soft he was.
They watched him until he was a faint smudge in the distance, the farmer stroking the quill he'd shed in goodbying, while his mother felt a crack faulting her heart, like a tiny pencil line. And with each hour line grew thicker and thicker until one day, not long after, her heart split in half and she died.
Twenty years later, a king got lost in a great forest. It was the kind of forest where the trees point down and the paths point in, and all you can be certain of is that you don't know where you are. And once the king was lost he got more lost, until he was so lost he began to tug on his ear, which is a sure sign of big trouble, when he heard a sound which was a bitter sound and a sweet sound all at once, a music that began like hello and ended like goodbye. So, tugging his ear like billy-o, the king followed that sound through glade and thicket until he came at length to a clearing where animals roamed-sheep, cows, pigs, and hens. Huge, these creatures, and content, looking for all the world like what animals on holiday must look like. And behind them was a palace. A most extraordinary sight, a fabulous affair of glass and jewels and waterfalls.
The king approached the great doors and knocked.
The tall creature who greeted him was neither man nor beast, but somewhere in between. He had the body of a warrior, the eyes of a prince, but his nose was stretched into a snout, and sweeping back from his eyebrows to his calves bristled a battalion of gleaming spikes. He looked nothing less to the astonished king than half a man and half a hedgehog, which is precisely was he was.
The king sucked in his breath and introduced himself, telling of his plight and his pedigree, of his missing army and empty belly. The creature said nothing through all this, and the king, story told, looked nervously at the sharp spikes and waited...waited through a long threatening silence. Finally, in a voice of dark woodwind, the creature spoke.
"You are welcome, sir, in my home," he said, and bowed before leading him into a magnificent hall, where huge fires leapt and sparkled. There, already laid for two, was a table groaning with food. Straightaway they sat down and ate of the greenest greens and the sweetest sweets and the juiciest juices. And after, with the embers glowing in the fires and the sun drawing in, Namjoon my hedgehog, for so it was, took up his bagpipes and began to play. What songs these were! Haunting and winding, threading through the evening air. Laments that were bitter and sweet all at once, that began in hello and ended in goodbye. And before he could think ‘I'm full now and found,’ the king fell asleep.
How long the king slept, he did now know. Dreams came. Dreams in many colors that broke over him like waves, hugging his sleep, washing away his worries. He woke a new man, ready for anything, or so he felt, but my dears, what a sight greeted his bright eyes. For his pillow was transformed into a tree, his bed a mossy bank, and the view was not the creature's great hall, which was surely where he had fallen into sleep. No, ahead of him, sparkling in the sun's kiss, was his own palace! How he had come here, he knew not. All he knew was joy, joy in waterfalls, joy cascading over him. And he began to dance as only kings once lost and then found can dance. A jig. A jiggle-joggle and a leap. Then bagpipes took up his rhythm in a merry reel and, looking round, the king saw the hero of his honor, Namjoon my hedgehog, astride his giant rooster.
"Anything!" cried the king. "Anything you wish for is yours, for you have saved and salvaged me, you have led me from the labyrinth."
But Namjoon would have no reward. He was ready to ride off.
"I insist," insisted the king. "Name anything, my dear friend."
And a curious smile came to the creature's face, his brown eyes twinkling.
"Very well," he said. "Then I ask for the first thing to greet you when you arrive in the palace, whatever that may be."
The king thought on this request, imagining his first steps on reaching home. And he knew his first sight would be of faithful, flop-eared, worried-himself-sick-eared Wagger, the royal dog. No mean gift, for this was a wonderful dog, and had been the king's helpful companion. But the king agreed, nonetheless. His dog would have a merry life in the freedom of the forest, in a place where the animal was king.
"It is yours," he told Namjoon. "The first thing to greet me."
At this, Namjoon bowed in gratitude.
"I'll collect my reward in a year and a day," he said, and without further ado turned the rooster and set off, a strut and a gallop into the distance.
The King watched him, hand held up in gratitude, then turned himself and hurried home, the delight of return engulfing him. Sure enough, he had no sooner set foot on the drawbridge then he heard a bark and a yelp of glee. Trumpets sounded a fanfare. The heavy doors of his palace swung open. And there before him, racing to embrace her long-lost father, was (Y/N), his daughter.
He took her up in his arms, their tears blessing them as he swung her round and round and round. Then came Wagger, jumping up at them both, desperate for his master's attention. Bells sang out the king's return. Then, through his chorus of welcome, the king caught another sound on the breeze, a sound both bitter and sweet, beginning in hello and ending in goodbye. And looking up, still clutching his child, he scanned the horizon. There on the very edge of the hills, he caught the silhouette of his rescuer, pipes raised to the heavens. A chill panic gripped the king. He dropped his startled daughter and let out a sob of despair. It seemed to him as if a black cloud had fallen on him. For in his excitement, in his delight, he had forgotten his promise and now the weight of it crushed him. ‘Not my dog,’ his heart cried bleakly. ‘Not my dog, but my daughter. My daughter…’
A lot can happen in a year. The king settled into the dance of days. The snow, when it came, covered everything. The sun stunned his inner being. Only the trees dried from green to russet and shed their summer dresses as the king lay awake through the nights, unable to sleep, listening as the leaves rustled, grazing the stone walls of the palace. Fear took him fretting along the battlements, his eyes squeezed to the distance, waiting, counting the days. And all the while suitors from far and wide traveled to his kingdom, seeking his daughter's hand. And all who saw her were mesmerized. She was a princess of sweetness and cherry pie. The king's nightmare, of her delicate skin pierced and bleeding from the creature's terrible coat of quills, haunted him until he wished he had never been found, longed to be lost again in the forest. For he had spoken to no one of his rash promise. To no one.
Oh yes, a lot can happen in a year; sometimes the minutes drift, marooned, and a single afternoon can seem a lifetime. But when you dread the future, days can make you dizzy with their dash. So it was with the king. It was upon him, the fatal day, before he caught his breath. A year had whizzed like a firework fizzing into the air. The evening had found him slumped glum on his throne. And when the bells dully thumped out the hour at six, he was still there, gray and dejected. At the last chime he heard another sound, a sound both bitter and sweet, beginning in hello and ending in goodbye. And the king stood up and moved stiffly to the balcony to observe the arrival of a strange creature, half-man, half-hedgehog, riding on a giant rooster and leading an army of animals. The king sighed and walked slowly down the drawbridge to greet them.
"Do you remember me?" asked Namjoon my hedgehog, his voice half-pipe, half-drum. The king nodded.
"A year and a day have passed since we last met," continued the creature, his coat of quills alert and dangerous. "Will you keep your promise to me?"
The King's face set in a grim mask.
"I will," he said. "I will."
Should I tell you of (Y/N)’s tears, their torrents, her sighs, her lament? Should I tell you of the pain, how it hurt the king to say what had been unsaid, explain what was inexplicable? Let it suffice that for an hour, two, after Namjoon came to the palace, father and daughter were alone in her chamber, and that when he finally emerged, the king could not raise his eyes but stared, bleak, at the ground beneath him. He led Namjoon my hedgehog to the chamber, then went himself - sorrow his crown, sadness his scepter - to his wife, the queen, to tell all, to console and be consoled.
Namjoon found (Y/N) sitting at the window of her chamber, hair streaming down, coiling through the open shutters, as if her soul were contained in the (H/C) tresses and sought to escape. He walked into the room and she jumped up. Jumped up before her betrothed. Her father had not exaggerated. She was promised to a monster. And yet, when the creature spoke, his voice was the voice she had always imagined her husband would possess, a voice of woodwind, of dark notes, a true voice.
"Do you know me, Princess?" the voice asked.
"But do you know of his promise to me?" he demanded.
"I do, sir," she replied. "You’re Namjoon. You saved my father and he owes you his life."
Namjoon nodded.
"He promised you the first thing to greet him on his return."
“And what was that?”
“Me, sir,” she said, looking at the deep brown eyes, the pointy nose, the carpet of quills. “I am yours.”
The quills bristled, the brown eyes sparked and flinted.
"Then I want you to be my wife," he said. "I want you to come and live with me in the forest. I want you for my princess of sweetness and cherry pie. I want to catch you up and sing to you and cuddle you and hug you to bits. I want you to love me."
A single tear crept down (Y/N)’s sweet cheek.
"Then so be it," she whispered.
"Do you find me very ugly?" asked her husband-to-be.
"No, sir. Not so ugly as going back on a promise," she declared, and felt the tear slide from her face to the floor.
They were married the next day. A wedding without bells. A funeral of a wedding, the guests in mourning. No words passed between the couple save the "I do"s and the "I will"s. After, the banquet was presided over in silences punctuated only by the occasional sob-from the queen, from the king, from the princess. Even the music threatened its way into the room as a grave and mournful rain. It followed the couple as they left the banquet hall and made their way to the bridal chamber, all eyes on them, a confetti of pity and outrage filling the room.
The fierce glow of the fire caught the highlights of (Y/N)’s hair has she crept into bed. Light danced around her face. She lay quietly in the lace and linen of the sheets. Her husband stood at the fireplace, staring into the flames, then picked up his pipes and began to play. (Y/N) closed her eyes and through the closed lids, saw her miserable future unfolding. Along the corridor in her parents' room, king and queen lay listening to the pipes, breath held. Abruptly the music stopped. (Y/N) shivered. Next moment she forced her eyes open to see a grotesque paw, half-hand, half-claw, approach her cheek. His touch was so gentle, so careful. He brushed his hand tracing the perfect shape of her features. She shuddered and he withdrew his hand as if it were burning. His sigh left her as he retreated to the fireplace grate and lay down. And so, the air fragile with emotions, the bridegroom and his bride settled down to sleep on their wedding night.
What woke (Y/N) she could not say. A rustle, perhaps. Or perhaps the terror of her dreams, but when she opened her eyes she was astonished. For there, barely illuminated by the fire's farewell, was her lord, the hedgehog man, peeling off his coat of quills, a splendid man, the quill settling like a rug on the ground. She watched, dumbfounded, as the man slipped quietly from the room and disappeared. And lying there, half-sweetness, half-cherry pie, (Y/N) could hardly credit what she'd seen and couldn't have, saw and shouldn't have. But, creeping to the window, she looked down and there, sure enough, was a man, all shadows, moving among his friends, the animals, in the night's quiet rain. And she found herself going to the abandoned coat of hair and quills and touching it, soft and warm and remarkable.
The first rays of morning woke her from dreams of waterfalls and ice cream and there she was in her bed. And by the ashes and dust in the grate lay her husband, back again, beast again. So had she dreamed this peeling off of skin? Surely she must have. But that night, the same scene: her husband standing over her as she pretended to sleep, the tender touch on her cheek, not prickly but so smooth she felt an ache when he left her, and then the magic of his transformation, the emergence of man beneath the skin. And she wanted so much for this handsome youth, slender in the shadows cast by the fire, wanted so much for him to come to her. But no, he slipped away. Again she crept to the window to watch him as he moved among the animals, as they nudged and nuzzled and caressed him. Again she went to the coat of quills and lay down against it, and how comfortable she found it. And she felt drowsy lying there by the fire, so peaceful. She felt herself drifting off and knew she mustn't, but really couldn't help herself, really couldn't stay awake another minute.
A shadow fell across her face and its dark touch woke her with a start. Standing in the doorway was her husband.
"Sir," she cried nervously scurrying back to the bed and under the covers. "I woke and you had gone! And left behind you coat of quills."
She could not see his features, his expression; he remained cloaked in darkness.
"Which would you have as husband?" came his reply. "The man or the creature?" .
"I have a husband, sir," (Y/N) said without hesitation. "And he is what he is. No more. No less."
She saw the stern shape relax, soften.
"Then forgive him, madam, if he returns to his skin," said her husband as he stepped toward the quills and assumed them, restoring the beast's silhouette.
"For I am enchanted," he continued, "and cannot leave it. But if you say nothing of this for one more night, then loyal love will break this spell forever."
But we all know about promises, don't we? And secrets. What use are they when no one knows about them? When they twist and turn and tickle out stomachs. When they are tickly little fish wriggling into our conversations. Now, you see, (Y/N) had a mother...and mothers have this way of catching secret-fish and promise-fish. They eye us with wise eyes and all our rivers are glass to them. They fish us. Just so with the queen, who that morning at breakfast sees a daughter skip to the table, eat when for days no appetite, laugh when for days no laughter.
His brown eyes settled on her, yearning, imploring. Her heart reached out to him.
"I promise," she whispered. "I promise."
"Hungry?" she inquired, raising an eyebrow.
"Very," replied her daughter, all sweetness, all cherry pie.
"Good," her mother said, smiling. "Sleep well?"
(Y/N) ate heartily.
"Yes, thank you."
"Good," repeated her mother, eyebrow twitching, her voice casting its hook into the conversation.
"Not troubled by the creature?"
(Y/N) frowned.
"No, mother," she said, defensive. "And please don't speak of him as a creature. His name is Namjoon."
Her mother looked at her carefully, the hook dangling.
"Listen, daughter," she began. "Last night you father and I went to a wise woman and told her of you tragedy. She knows of these creatures, these Grovelhogs, and knows the remedy. He is enchanted, you see."
"I know," (Y/N) blurted out, the invisible hook snagged her lips. Her mother pulled sharply on the line.
"Oh?"
(Y/N) felt her face flush, flustered.
"I mean, I knew he must be. Something like that," she cried wriggling away from the question. "Yes, I see. He's enchanted."
The queen reeled in, triumphant.
"He's told you, hasn't he?"
Her daughter denied it, all the while wriggling.
"Does he take off his skin?" her mother demanded.
"No!" she insisted. "No, he doesn't! He doesn't!"
The queen grasped her hand.
"The only way to break the spell is to throw the skin into the fire. It he sleeps or leaves the room, cast the skin into the flames and he will be free of it."
(Y/N) shook her head, confused, miserable.
"That's not the way!" she cried, her betrayal exposed. The queen settled back into her seat, the fish landed.
"So, he has told you!"
That night, the third, when everything happens as before, (Y/N) is haunted by her mother’s advice. And oh dear, oh dear. (Y/N) rose from the sheets. Before she could stop herself, before the warring voices in her head could plead with her, she took up the skin and threw it into the fire's greedy flames. How it burned! A thousand colors, a brilliant firework! Suddenly, terribly, a cry of pain and rage curdled the air. There, below the window stood her husband, the Grovelhog, beast again, smoke and flames consuming him, his head thrown up roaring out his betrayal, screaming his anguish. He threw himself to the ground smothering flames, rolled over and over on the earth, while in the palace (Y/N) ran, ran along passage, ran down winding stair, until she was outside, running to him, tears scalding her, tears choking her. She reached him as he leapt up onto the rooster, as the animals stampeded for the gates.
"Namjoon!" she wept. "Please! Please don't go!"
But Namjoon snarled and turned away from her, his quill sharp and smoking. (Y/N) clutched at him and was pricked terribly, falling pierced and bleeding, while the Grovelhog rode off into the night in a confusion of smoke and dust, the air thick with clamor and alarm, the bells tolling their solemn song: betrayal and betrayal and betrayal.
For seven days and seven nights the princess of sweetness and cherry pie locked herself in her room and wept into the fire. And she would let no one see her, not even me, and I was her favorite. And the days passed - sun, then moon, then sun - while she thought and thought a hole in the hearth until she knew what she must do. She went to the the blacksmith and got from him a pair of iron shoes, and that same night, while all slept, slipped out of the palace and set off to walk the world in search of her husband.
She walked and walked until she wore out the first pair of shoes, and still no one had set eyes on the creature. And she got a second pair of shoes and began again, never stopping, always hoping. And the second pair of shoes wore out. And still she walked, always searching, always praying to hear a music both bitter and sweet, beginning in hello and ending in goodbye, but nothing, no clue, no news. Until one day, weary and wretched, she came to a stream and lay down by it. The last pair of shoes had worn away to nothing, and she pulled them from her, rubbing her poor sore feet, and saw in the water's mirror that her hair was now quiet white. And the princess of sweetness and cherry pie wept for her (H/C) hair and her husband, both lost forever. Night was falling and the mist settling in, as it does in that season in that place, three pairs of iron shoes from anywhere. What could she do?
Then it seemed to the princess that she lapsed into a dream. And in that dream she saw a bent figure walking the ground, his way lit by the swinging flare of a lamp. The man approached her, catching her face in the light, but instead of greeting her, he stumbled past, calling out into the mist.
"Son!" he called, tears splashing his boots as he walked. "Namjoon!"
(Y/N) got up and followed him, why she knew not, where she knew not, until they came to a cottage, an old farm cottage, long abandoned, swathed in cobwebs. Just as the cottage came into view, the lamp guttered, faded, and went out, and as the light disappeared so did the man. (Y/N) was at a loss. ‘What now?’ she wondered. She looked about her, shaking her head as if to throw off the dream, but stopped suddenly, for there sitting in the porch of the cottage, rocking on a rocking chair, a small bundle wrapped in a shawl tight in her arms, was an old woman. (Y/N) watched amazed as the woman pulled back the corners of the shawl to reveal a tiny creature, half-baby, half-hedgehog. She gasped and ran to the woman, but as she reached the porched the woman disappeared and the door swung open. In she went, her heart in her mouth, but inside the house was empty, only dust on the table, dust on the shutters. She sank to the floor and fell into a deep, despairing sleep.
Something woke her. A flapping. A beating of wings. She was still in the house. She hadn't dreamed it. The morning sun was pouring in, sending the dust dancing in its light. (Y/N) crept into the parlor in time to see a great golden eagle fly in and land on a table, it huge wings folding into rest. (Y/N) shrank back from the bird. Suddenly it shook and trembled, and transformed before her eyes into a strange creature, the posture of a man, the skin of a hedgehog, quills quivering. Namjoon! Her husband! Fear gripped her. And trepidation. Namjoon sat at the table and food appeared, wine. He raised his glass, unseeing, while his wife looked on.
"To the health of that most beautiful woman who could not keep her promise for one more day," he whispered, and drank down the wine.
(Y/N) stepped forward.
"Namjoon," she said, taking her courage. The creature swung round, his voice filling with anger.
"How did you find me?" he demanded, the quills spiking.
"I have walked the world to find you," his wife replied. "I have worn out the soles of three pairs of iron shoes and my hair is no longer (H/C). I come to claim you, and catch you up, and cuddle you, and hug you to bits."
And with that she flung herself at his mercy, risking the spikes of his rage. She clung to him as he struggled, clung to him as his body trembled into a transformation, wings unfolding and shuttering, clung to him as the shape of a man emerged, disappeared, reappeared, all the while declaring her love and loyalty. She would not be thrown off, would not give in to the wings, to the spikes, to the violent shuddering, but held fast to her husband, until finally the shaking stopped and man and wife stood embracing, the spell broken. And they laughed and cuddled and hugged each other to bits, pain falling from them like feathers, like quills.
And so the princess who could not keep her promise won back her husband through looking without hope of finding, and in time her hair grew (H/C) again and there was another wedding all over, and this time the feasting went on for forty days and forty nights, and I myself was there to tell the best story there is to tell, a story that begins in hello and ends in goodbye, and for a gift they gave me a shoe worn to nothing.

Every Gentleman Should Possess a Pocket Blade
It used to be that a pocket knife was a necessary item a man taken with your pet. You had your bank account, your keys, and your reliable pocket cutlery. The History of the Pocket Blade First Millennium Romans come up with first flip pocket knife. They made for easy carrying for soldiers as well as other explorers on the journeys along with conquests. However, as the use of sheathed cutlery became very popular, the use of wallet knives chop down somewhat straight into disfavor. By the overdue 16th Century, pocket kitchen knives began to gain back popularity. These folks were especially well-known in the American colonies. Through farmers in order to lawyers, adult men from all areas of life started to bring them. The supreme portable device, the wallet knife would be a useful assist in various responsibilities, including eating on the go. Bank account knives have already been an essential tool for soldiers throughout American history. The big apple and New Hampshire required their militias to carry pocket knives in the American Trend. Even George Washington toted 1 around as he led his / her troops. The U.Azines. Navy commenced issuing pants pocket knives in order to sailors through the Civil Battle. During World war 2, the bank account knife ended up being standard gripe for American GIs. Guys have been carrying pocket knives for centuries. However with increased safety at the international airport and other complexes, knives have been disappearing through men’s pockets. Nevertheless these minimal obstacles are certainly not sufficient need to give up transporting a cutlery completely. Best fixed blade EDC Knife carrying of your pocket chef's knife is a macho tradition that should be continued. Exactly why a Man Should Carry a Pocket Knife Present have you been in a situation where you’ve thought to yourself, “Damn, the knife would be really handy now!” Here are a couple instances when any pocket knife can come in useful or just make simple things in life more enjoyable: • Opening a box. • Cutting string, tags, along with string. • Slicing an apple company. I love ingesting an apple company that I’ve lower with my pocket cutlery, slice by slice. You really feel like a undesirable ass doing it. You hold the particular apple within your non-dominant hand make a portion with the knife using your prominent hand. As soon as you make the cut, pinch this between your usb and blade blade. Deliver the blade to your mouth and deposit the apple mackintosh slice. • Beginning a letter. Certain, you could use the finger, nevertheless using a chef's knife is just far more manly. • Gun. Not the most efficient, but it’s an improvement on nothing. • Camping. Exactly how else would you like to sharpen the stage that a stick in preparation pertaining to stabbing your feed? And by victim I mean hot dog. • You never know when you’re going to have to MacGyver your way out of an emergency. Be prepared. • You need something to clench in your teeth whenever swinging from the rope. What type of pocket cutlery should you find? Picking out a knife is a individual thing. It’s such as picking out a pocket book. It all depends upon personal taste. Men have the bond using tools. Decide on something that comfortable to wear in your palm, and that you’ll be proud of and want to take with you. There are a few common designs of pocket cutlery: the connector knife, the pen cutlery, and the multi-purpose cutlery. We’ll discuss the options and great things about each one, so that you can help you choose what kind of chef's knife you should get. Jack knife. A new jack cutlery has a easy hinge on one side, and may convey more than one sharp edge. The jack knife will be popular among seekers, fishermen, and also campers. Dog pen knife. Any pen chef's knife is lightweight at both ends of the take care of, and usually provides two or three rotor blades at each finish. The compose knife had been originally made to cut or sharpen dog pen quills for producing. The pencil knife is great if you want multiple type of blade. It’s also smaller than average lightweight as well as won’t be noticeable from the pocket associated with dress clothing. Multi-purpose knife. These are probably the most well-known pocketknives. The Europe Army cutlery and the Renovator are probably the most well known of the multi-purpose cutlery. Boy Look knives will also be multi-purpose knives. In addition to the knife sharp edge, multi-purpose knives have can openers, scissers, leather punchers, forceps, or even tools. These can be useful on hiking trips. Nonetheless, if just about all you’re looking for is really a sharp edge, the extra features will probably frustrate you. You can find variations of these knife patterns that you should consider as well. Allow me to share few to take into account: Lock knife knife. The specific blade describes it all. Whenever you open the blade fully on this sort of knife, your blade curly hair in place. Final the sharp edge requires you to definitely release your blade simply by pressing recorded on a lever located nearby the back from the knife manage to disengage the particular hook in the notch in which keeps your blade in place. A fasten blade is useful for more robust use. An illustration of this a secure blade chef's knife is the Dollar knife. Get joint chef's knife. On a slide joint blade, the knife doesn’t lock, but is held set up by a springtime device that permits the blade to collapse only if some pressure is applied. Most pencil knives or multi-purpose knives use the slip mutual blade. For the reason that blade is less stable, it should simply be used for light jobs. Scrubbing folder blade. This is another way of a non-locking edge. Friction directory knives use friction relating to the blade along with the scales to support the sharp edge in place when opened. One-handed opening up. Newer kitchen knives have a attribute that allows pertaining to one-handed opening. On the top of the blade, there is a opening that enables you to place the sleep pad of your thumb in. Just press upward and Pow, you got an open knife. This selection makes using a pocket cutlery much easier, specially when you have both hands full. Where to Get a Wallet Knife The top pocket knifes to have are the ones which has a sense of background. I tote around a pants pocket knife in which my father presented to me. It’s nevertheless in fantastic shape, with regular sharpening cuts like new. It’s something real that jogs my memory of my father. One day I hope to pass that down to my son. Consequently ask the dad when he has a vintage pocket chef's knife that he can give to you. I’m positive he’ll be happy to move it coupled. If you can’t obtain a hand by using an old bank account knife, or even the one your current dad as well as grandpa provided you is not really usable, pick yourself up a new one. You will find pocket cutlery at any kind of outdoor store. Better yet, look for a knife keep in town so you have got a wider selection to choose from.

Suburban Updates: Jana Grill & Bakery Brings Egg Boats to Watertown
And more news from outside Boston
There’s more to Massachusetts dining than just Boston proper restaurants. We’re keeping tabs on developments in the Greater Boston area and beyond, including openings, closures, and more. With a focus on Greater Boston suburbs, this piece will be updated on a rolling basis, with the most recent news appearing at the top.
January 24, 2018
BURLINGTON — Eddie V’s will take the place of Macaroni Grill, which closed down at 50 South Ave. last year. The Austin, TX-based chain of Eddie V’s is part of the Darden Restaurant Group and serves seafood and steak. It’s also coming to Boston proper.
Also in Burlington, Caffe Nero, the London-based chain of coffee shops that’s expanded with dramatic fashion in the Boston area over the last few years, has officially opened within the Burlington Mall (75 Middlesex Tpke.) It is situated near Au Bon Pain and Besito Mexican Restaurant.
FRAMINGHAM — Rasoi Gourmet Indian Kitchen (855 Worcester Rd.)has closed down after more than 20 years in business. A reason for the closure was not given, but posts on Facebook indicate the restaurant may pursue a new location.
MALDEN — Oppa’s Kitchen & Bar (157 Pleasant St.) is closed, at least for now; the business was seized.
NATICK — Kelly’s Roast Beef closes down this month after about 20 years in business in this location, which is inside of Jordan’s Furniture (2 Underprice Way). The owners are reportedly not renewing the lease on the space, though other locations of Kelly’s will remain in operation.
Meanwhile, the Natick Mall will get a Dave & Buster’s(1245 Worcester St.), which aims to take over a section of the current Sears, which is downsizing.
Finally, the owners of The Farmhouse in Needham have a new project planned for Natick. Buttercup is set to arrive at 13 West Central St. this spring from Dora Tavel-Sanchez Luz and Gabriel Sanchez, who aim to serve farm-to-table American dishes alongside a full bar. They’ve launched a Kickstarter campaign to help with funding.
QUINCY — Momo Cafe is up and running in Quincy at 649 Hancock St., serving a selection of desserts and pastries, plus tea and more. (It does not serve momo, Nepalese dumplings.)
SALEM — Smokin’ Betty’s BBQ closed its doors at 94 Lafayette St. on January 14 after a little under a year in business. The owners — who are also behind Gulu-Gulu Cafe and Flying Saucer Pizza Company, which remain open — shared a heartfelt message on Facebook announcing the closure, stating: “At the end of the day it really came down to simple math. We spent more money than we brought in and we projected a larger number of customers than we saw come through our doors.” They intend to continue offering Smokin’ Betty’s food for catering orders and perhaps reopen one day in a smaller venue.
WATERTOWN — Jana Grill & Bakery (2 Watertown St.) opened just a week ago, and it’s serving a menu of Armenian dishes, including egg boats, babaganoush, shawarma, flatbreads, and breakfast items. It’s open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 or 11 p.m.

Like its counterparts, the Taunton shop serves specialty cakes, cupcakes, pastries, cookies, pies, and breads, in addition to a menu of sandwiches, salads, pizzas, calzones, and more Italian dishes.
