the comments under tma episodes annoy me so much sometimes ngl. "nobody trusts jon" "everybody hates jon for things he didn't do" "jon is trying to be better and everyone just cuts him off :(" yeah it's almost like the characters were put through extreme traumatic events, environment where they can die any minute to some horrible awful power, and have been methodically stripped of trust and safety. god damn why can't people treat basira and melanie with the same amount of empathy they treated jon back in season 2

Sorry for the delay anon. Okay, here we go!

♡ - Reigen talks aloud to Ekubo all the time and is a bit blind to the weird looks he gets from passers-by, so Reigen buys a bluetooth earpiece so he can play it off like he's yapping on the phone. He does not buy airpods or whatever - the guy has a flip phone, he doesn't know what a fucking airpod is. Ekubo is flattered that he'd rather go the extra length of disguising their conversations than just avoiding it altogether.

♡ - I think when Reigen is feeling overwhelmed or is struggling mentally, Ekubo offers to take over his body and pilot him for a bit so that he can get some rest/not have to stress so much. It's mostly for menial tasks, not when Reigen works or anything (unless he requires an emergency supernatural boost ofc), and the spirit just kind of.... does Reigen's self-care for him. He'll put Reigen to sleep and cook a meal so that his body gets sustenance if Reigen doesn't feel up to eating. He'll shower him and shave, tidy his apartment etc. Of course, when Reigen teases him that he totally does care, Ekubo will always deny it with a 'ugh ew no, I just can't stand seeing someone be soooo pathetic. Have some decorum, man', but he's definitely trying not to smile with every word.

♡ - Touch starved. The both of them. Guards! Give that man a hug! In a physical form (Yoshioka), Ekubo will just NOT stop touching Reigen when they're alone (and sometimes will slip up when they're in public, much to both of their embarrassment). In all the official art, they have their hands on each other- I think a lot about that one where he's behind Reigen, all up in his business, and it just confirms that idea for me personally.....

♡ - Possession sex: Ekubo can trigger all the good spots when he's in Reigen's head without Reigen ever having to touch himself anywhere. Reigen can somehow feel invisible hands on his body despite there being no one there and he loves it. It makes him feel less awkward about reciprocating.

♡ - Physical sex: Yoshioka's consent is voiced every time. Ekubo leaves his body so that it's clear to everyone that it's 100% Yoshi's decision to do anything like that. Sometimes Ekubo will relinquish control of Yoshi's body during sex so that he can share in the moment too, even though he's already present mentally. It's like a threesome ig?? I like the concept that Ekubo and Yoshi are distinctly different fucks: they each have their own preferences and styles. I know Ekubo has stated that ghosts don't feel desire, but I think he'd enjoy getting to make Reigen squirm and seeing him enjoy himself. He probably also likes having control in that way. Reigen is a bratty bottom and Ekubo and Yoshi enjoy making him submit hehe.

♡ - They butt heads alllll the time. They bicker like an old married couple constantly (it drives everyone up the wall) and compete against each other for literally no reason other than the fact that they both secretly enjoy it.

♡ - Speaking of butting heads, Ekubo teases Reigen a lot. He likes getting a rise out of him and seeing Reigen get all flustered. They have the best banter out of anyone in the show. Plus, they'd go to the ends of the Earth for each other! I mean, just look at the last episode: Reigen relies on Ekubo's support and Ekubo is willing to protect him to the end. Fuck, even the comment (which the anime took from us and I'll never forgive them for that) about how Reigen can stay with Ekubo should he die during the Minori saga is said very honestly and from a place of love.

I have more ideas (don't I always?) but I'd write a million words and no one needs that lmao.

Anyway, I can't believe Ekurei isn't more popular as a ship because they work so well together. I think a lot of the fandom reduce Ekubo to being 'the fart cloud' and it does a real disservice to his character because he's excellently developed and just has the craziest personal growth. I can't watch the episodes where he sacrifices himself for Mob because they make me sob like a baby. I feel very passionately about him as an individual character and together I think Reigen and Ekubo are better suited than other ships because of their canon relationship. They're equals and it's clear that they respect (no matter how much they pretend otherwise) each other and are grateful for the protection they offer Mob and the kids.

Random Rant on Fanfic Pet Names

Let me say this is more me screaming into the great unknown because it's something that I KEEP seeing and it keeps irking me and causing me to cringe out of my skin. Putting it under the read more, it's just a rant mainly about the COD fandom, you're not missing anything if you don't read this

Disclaimer: I mean absolutely no hate to the writers who do this. Because you should be writing what makes YOU happy and what YOU like to write. Writing is unique and independent to each individual and just because I don't like something doesn't mean that it's inherently bad or shouldn't be done. You do you, you go on your own journey - just cause we both like hiking doesn't mean we have to take the same trail or that one path is better than the other. Judging people like that who write different than you is nasty and policing harmless writing over little things is stinky sock sniffer behavior. Just cause it's my yuck doesn't mean it is everyone's and I don't expect everyone to agree with me nor is my point meant to be an objective truth or statement. It's literally just my feelings and I need to yell about it

The COD fandom in particular I've seen is atrocious for doing this. But I abhor when they make the characters use pet names like "pet" and "little girl" or "little boy".

Especially when they've literally JUST met

Every time I see it I immediately have to exit off the fic as I gag. I swear it's instinctive at this point. You know those videos of cats who do the extremely dramatic gagging when they smell something they slightly don't like? That's me. 110%

It comes up and I look at the page like this

It just feels so so gross to me and has this icky undertone that I cannot stand. And I don't know if I'm reading into it too much or if this is just me a me thing but I swear to any gods above this keeps happening. It's done so much I have tried putting filters on specifically to avoid it

It strikes me as so odd??? Like why that out of everything. Why something emphasizing age/maturity or treating the reader like they're a possession when it's a regular ass fanfic.

It makes my skin crawl and the possessive/dismissive undertones there are NOT cute. It always reads as ignoring reader's autonomy and treating them more like an object or thing instead of a person. When they just met too or the relationship really doesn't call for it or where it would be weird, it's just shoehorned in and I reallllly really really hate it oh man.

Like if it's established and is a fic where it's like "hey, this is what this is going to be! We're doing a nsfw/bdsm-y undertones here! That's the vibe!" Then great! Fantastic! That lines up, you're expecting that. Not when it's like a fluff fic or supposed to be super causal

I see this mainly with Ghost in fan fics. For some reason, he seems to be numero uno when it comes to calling reader "pet" as a form of endearment. I'm so sorry but I can't ever see him doing that. The guy who has extensive trauma with animals from his childhood, who would take an IMMENSE amount of time forming a close bond with someone to ever get into a relationship (following the comics for his history anyhow which is what I've seen most people do, Ghost has literally seen his family killed and has been through so so much trauma it's wild and the dude has a lot going on mentally), calling someone he cares about a pet??? I just don't see it happening. I sure as shit don't think he'd do that to near strangers either. Even if you ignored that past history for him or write Ghost different -that's just a flat out weird thing to call someone you don't know and has the implications of ownership/subservience on that person's part. Doing that to someone you REALLY do not know is insane

And the little girl/boy one used in conjunction with an age gap??? No??? That's just. So many shades of ew to me and is really putting emphasis on the wrong thing there (at least how I see it and in the context of the fic. I've never seen it used appropriately unless the reader is meant to be a literal child and it's a platonic fic. Context matters). ESPECIALLY when they emphasize reader is young (as in, barely legal, just turned 18/19 or heck even 20). Which I also keep seeing too when it is used. I'm not here for that reallllly creepy vibe that sounds like something you'd eventually hear about on Dateline or in a youtube exposé video

Like y'all. Anyone being shipped with them should be a grown ass adult because THEY are all grown ass adults. For me the little is never emphasizing size when paired with a gendered term, it's emphasizing how small their age is and that's wacky. Maybe that's just a me problem but when I hear "little girl" or "little boy", I'm thinking of a kid. Because girl/boy are most commonly used for children and when you're pairing it with little there, that's what you're emphasizing and you're practically guaranteeing that image.

Be real, if a guy you JUST met who you don't find attractive sneers and says, "Be quiet, pet." or "hush little girl/boy, " you wouldn't find that hot, you'd find that creepy. It's only excused because you're attracted to the character and find them hot. I'm picking a fight, I'm throwing hands if that's dropped on me in the real world out there. Probably not because I'm too non-confrontational but you bet im cringing and giving him the most:

Maybe this is just a me thing and I'm losing my marbles. Or maybe it's the fact that I've had that happen to me where a dude I barely know called me "little girl/boy" (despite me being older?? and like the same height?????) and I just died on the inside viscerally that day

For the record if someone pulls the 'pet' card, I'm living up to it. I'm puking on the carpets somewhere in the dark at 3am, I'm yelling at the mailman and doorbells, I'm doing parkour off the couch when you're trying to sleep. Why the absolute hell are you calling someone you JUST MET that when it isn't even supposed to be that kinda nsfw fic.

It's one thing if the vibe is established and the tags are there and you know what you're getting into. But I lose my mind when it's a casual fluff or meant to be romantic and then all of a sudden, BAM THERE IT IS AGAIN.

It makes it so hard to read fics because it's like roulette, I swear I'm always suddenly hit with it and there goes my interest in trying again 🥲

hello, what would you say to someone who very much thinks about stepping away from the renewal movement bc our fandom keeps being associated with slavery, racism and zionism? and people just take it at word value and feel morally better that they don't consume that media taika did while probably watching 1665 tv shows from disney and mcu. i do not care to be associated with zionists and racists and be told i ship slave owners, but everyone outside of fandom seems to have made up their mids and i don't need my tweet in supoort of a silly tv show i love to be used in some ofmd guys are dicks bullying campaign

Oh boy. I don't typically delve into this because I'm cautious about saying the right/wrong thing and being misconstrued. But I'll do my best*. Let's break this down:

Slavery - I understand people are uncomfortable with the show depicting characters based on real life pirates who were connected to slavery in the 1700s, and that is incredibly valid. If someone doesn't want to interact with the show because of that, that's fine! It's great! However, the show basically takes the idea of these pirates and makes them into entirely new characters which never themselves touch on the idea of slavery. The show depicts itself as pretty anti-slavery given the immediate violence that occurs against people who are racist to the non-white characters (Officer Whatever getting knifed after calling Frenchie slave, Abshir and the servants helping burn down the French ship and leaving happily with money after one of them called them "my Africans", which, yes EW, but was very pointedly saying he was wrong). I will also say to the slavery point that kids play pirates/love pirate stuff, people don't tell them not to because the real Blackbeard was involved in that? Idk, please take my opinion here with a grain of salt (and I'm very willing to be wrong on this) but it seems a bit...reactionary to say the show is pro-slavery.

Same goes for racism - MOST of the actors and characters are not white in this show, and that I think is portrayed very well through many different backgrounds. And as I just mentioned, every time a character is racist, they almost immediately get their comeuppance. Stede never treats any of his crew in any way which is racist, and the one time he and Pete are racist towards the Indigenous tribe, they're called out on it explicitly and never do that again.

Zionism....sigh. This is unfortunately a loaded argument these days. Yes, Taika signed a letter that said "give the hostages back". Taika is also half-Jewish and describes himself as a Jewish Polynesian man. At the time the letter was making the rounds, October 7th had just happened, and a very real, terrible kidnapping/murder of roughly 1,000 people happened, which is shocking and terrible to see as a Jewish person. It was the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust. Of course that does not excuse the >20,000 Palestinians who have been killed. Absolutely not.

Taika also gets a lot of unnecessary shit because people just don't like him and want to find some moral high ground to stand on and berate fans of his work with. I'm Taika neutral, but the more hate he gets the more I'm willing to back him because it's waaaaay disproportionate to anything he actually says. Plus, many, MANY actors on the show are openly pro-Palestine, and those people are close with Taika (see: Vico), so I'm very against the idea that OFMD is zionist? At least, I don't see how it can be any worse than any other piece of media those screaming about hating OFMD watch.

So, ending my ramble....I say do it anyway. You can't please everyone. People on the internet are mean. You don't know them, and they don't know you. They probably haven't seen the show and are dogpiling, because that's what people on the internet do. In addition, the renew as a crew movement has raised money for Palestine and for other charities close to the shows themes - LGBTQ+ youth and rights and amputees come to mind from what I've seen over the past few days. All extra money from the renewal campaign is going to charity. Everyone I know who donated and emails Zaslav and Co are also active in the campaign for a ceasefire, calling reps and MPs, being loud on other sources.

I'm sorry if this didn't make much sense and if anything I said was wrong. Again, very willing to listen and dialouge on any of it. As always, my DMs are open.
