i cant fucking find one of dave jade and john theyre ALWAYS in different places at different times and if they ever ARE in the same place theyre not facing the "camera" OR theres SOMEONE ELSE IN BETWEEN THEM. theres one spot in the final few panels where theyre sortaaa in the same place but dave and john are facing away and theyre very not detailed because theyre not the focus of the panel (also in that panel terezi is walking away because she has no one to reunite with there and i think that's SAD). either way im sure theres lotsa fanart of the three of them together but as far as panels in the official comic go theyre NOT. FUCKING. REAL. im distraught about this information im gonna keep looking because i cant accept this
hi guys apparently i need images for the polls so i cant start yet, and while i can do a quick google search for the more well known ones and youtube for the semi-known ones (ie one and aib, cause im biased), it may be hard to gather images for the lesser known fandoms, so pls reblog this with images so i can use them. pleaseee
trios that need images as of now
dave, john, jade (homestuck) (i admit, as an ex-homestuck, i do not remember any panel with all of them together. sorry i havent finished the comic)
sonia, sonic, manic (sonic underground)
karma, kaede, nagisa (assassination classroom)
hikaru, umi, fuu (magic knight rayearth)
todoroki, iida, deku (my hero academia)
cure star, cure milky, cure cosmo (star twinkle precure)
kai, nya, lloyd (ninjago)
audrey, miriam, kiwi (wandersong)

Sky Shinies, V2
For @aspecardaweek Day 3: Across the A-spectrum, I decided to redraw the second piece of Tolkien fanart I ever posted, two years ago for this very event! Check back in 2025 to see if I keep up the pattern.
Since Ainur are basically angels I've decided they're all pretty much ace (with varying degrees of interest- Melian) and arospec if only because they don't conceptualize relationships in the same way we do, and the majority of elves are demi/grayspec.
Arien: Sapphic oriented aroace, recipromantic
Earendil: Bi demi-rose
Tilion: Achillean oriented aroace, lithoromantic, aroflux
Tumblr media
[id. A full-body pencil drawing of Arien, Earendil, and Tilion. Arien is inspired by a lion, with digitigrade legs, paw pads, and claws. She has a crown of horns and fire burning on her head, limbs, and the tip of her tail. Tilion has bat ears and feet with a leaf-shaped nose, horns curling around his ears and another set twisting upwards, and dark blotches on his skin. Their arms are linked as they shoot finger guns. Earendil stands in front of them, head barely reaching their elbows as he waves with one hand and holds a telescope in the other. He's black, with braids pulled back in a ponytail and a small beard. The silmaril shines from a circlet on his forehead, and he wears Ancalagon's skin as an armored vest and skirting. end id.]
Rambles, comparison, and closeups under the cut!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[id. Three closeups on Arien, Earendil, and Tilion's faces respectively to show details. Arien has freckles and her eyes appear to be glowing behind her sunglasses, Earendil has eyebags, faint laugh lines, and scars, as well as individually lined scales on his vest, and Tilion has fangs, earrings. and diamond-shaped pupils with black sclerae. end id.]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[id: a comparison of the full drawing above to the original, which ends around Earendil's knees but otherwise has near-identical composition. Arien looks significantly more human, Tilion is missing his horns, and Earendil is white with a less structured outfit. end id.]
I was mostly going off of memory redrawing this, which is why their poses are slightly different but honestly I prefer this even if it isn't strictly accurate. Winner for biggest design overhaul is a tie between Arien and Earendil, because excluding Tilion's horns (which I would have originally included if I had remembered Tilion literally means "horned one") he's hardly changed, though tragically I took away some of his jewelry for practicality.
Past!Earendil's unintentional Michael Jackson nose haunts me, though I do kinda miss his stupid wave hair. I'm much happier with his dragonscale vest thingy now (though I realized too late that Ancalagon's scales would be much larger, oh well), I've had time to think through the various elven cultural aesthetics and I'm very pleased with his multi-combo of cultures that still gives him the vibes I wanted. Stupid pointy-toed noldorin boots are so hard to draw right but I love them so much
Arien has also been overhauled but given that they change how humanoid their fana looks depending on if they're hanging around incarnates or not the original is still technically close to that form? Horn crown and significantly more fire has been added in homage to her balrog siblings alongside everything else, but like Tilion her outfit change is minimal and the vibes stay the same.
Unrelated but a funny side note: as I have become increasingly aware of Pokemon Knowledge, I have realized that Solgaleo and Lunala unintentionally map really really well onto my Arien and Tilion. Yes this is because lion/day/sun | bat/night/moon symbolism is obvious, but I'm leaning into it. Earendil works shockingly well as Ultra Necrozma, too.

ACOFAS REVIEW -INC SPOILERS
4.5 stars.
Okay, so! This was the first book I was able to finish in 2021. I've kinda been in a reading slump, and struggling to get past the 30-50% of books. I think its because I took essentially 3 months off my normal (daily) reading schedule and have been prioritising other things (health, fitness, job applications etc) - I think it's a testament to how addicted I was to this that I finished and consumed this at the rate I did! I recently went back and added some things to my ACOWAR review. To briefly summarise, I feel that, at the time I read it, it kind of gave me what I needed, but it definitely isn't getting a re read - my love for feysand has definitely lessened over time, but honestly i'm not that mad at sarah for this, as I find that whenever I've passed the sexual tension part of relationships in books, I tend to get bored of the domestic bliss. Like, leave that shit for an epilogue and keep it at that? As someone generally averse to relationships, but there is definitely a grace period for how long I can actively be smitten with a couple... before it becomes sickly. Taking all this into account, I honestly was nervous for this book, its release date totally took me by surprise, and I read it on a whim. As a Nessian shipper (I mean we didn't really have a choice after acomaf but to delve into the world of fanfic to keep us going) - this book gave me most of what I wanted and needed from them! I think,(some) kudos to SJM, for not disappointing in their relationship. This was definitely a character > plot driven story. In terms of the plot, I wasn't really invested until around the 38% mark? I'm not sure if I was adjusting to the writing style (lots of dramatic. sentences. that. are. so. abrupt. Nesta Archeron. Death etc) - or if it was bc I hadn't read an SJM book since the novella, which I basically skimmed. I was obviously reading for Nessian, but I didn't really feel intrigued by the wider plot (death gods, the human queens? Given I had lost my previous obsession with the world/ have outgrown 'fandom' culture, that made me actively update my knowledge, I couldn't remember a lot!) I think its clear that SJM excels character driven stories, but I think her worldbuilding and execution is significantly better in the throne of glass franchise. Now, I did say this was a character driven story. This is mostly regarding Nesta, Cassian and Azriel. I loved pretty much any interaction they had! I love a good training montage. Ngl though, I think, unless you possess an ardent love for Nessian, you're not going to be particularly wowed by this, if you've read heir of fire, or even acomaf. I obviously am never going to be able to be objective, because I've loved nessian so much from 2017-now, but I loved the dynamic those two (and three - friendship wise between nes/cass/az). One of the highlights of ACOWAR for me was the snippets of Az, showing tenderness, and opening up to the newer members of the inner circle (and i'm excluding any hint of an Elriel ship because FUCK THAT LOL) For me, the tip with SJM books is: once you outgrow them/the particular mode of narrative style, is to not anticipate anything other than a character driven story, albeit one riddled with smut. I personally am a romance heavy reader, so I'm honestly deconditioned to it at this point, (like, when I see reviewers scandalised I'm like... wow, the amount of trash I have consumed in the last five years loool.) While I disagree with the fact SJM marketed this series as y/a (or maybe it wasn't her per se, but the key booksellers definitely did this for her) - I think its clear enough now she's descended into the adult/borderline erotica genre.(very mild imo). I personally like to adopt a policy of skimming sex scenes when I find the dialogue cringy (most the time it is lets be honest any talking is v second hand embarrassment). Cassian and Nesta were definitely better than Rhys and Feyre post chapter 55 though! I was so glad there weren't a million moments of Cass/Nesta betraying their arousal with their scents, in front of everyone (like feysand, the voyeuristic pda pricks they are). I found the slowburn ish nature of their relationship great, and I actually think if you're a virgo/emotionally stunted reader, you will be happy with their relationship dynamic. It contrasts with the daemati sexual snark of acomaf, but it felt right, and authentic. This book was a journey of personal growth, for Nesta. It is clear SJM loves books about strong women, and maybe thats what makes me love this book so much. I think, out of all the archeron sisters, I love Nesta the most. This is for my Rose Calloway fans, my misunderstood, somewhat cold/left out girls, who are less receptive to being vulnerable. If you're a slowburn fan, it's not Mariana Zapata levels of slowburn, imo it's the perfect combo. Addictive enough that I don't want to put it down, but not so fast moving that I couldn't believe it. I loved the sex without emotion relationship they had!! This is honestly never done in mainstream n/a fantasy, unless its a caricature of a 'slut' that normally rivals the main character, lmao. Even if their inner conflict was p transparent, this gave me everything I needed! I know this is vapid lol but I also love the physical dynamic between the two, they just look so good together, the amount of fanart I'm going to reacquaint myself with after this review!! I adored seeing Nesta grow, (even if towards the end I kind of resented her sudden acceptance into the inner circle, i get SJM loves her and just wanted a fluffy ending, but, as a Nesta like character, it's awkward and stilted on her end to adjust to the inner circle like this - i mean, hugging rhys, really??)
I think, if I had to compare this to any other SJM book, I would say Chaols book (though I obviously preferred this). That being said, I felt less attached to new characters in this book than I was in even Chaols book (and even then ngl I remember nothing?) Obviously I loved what it represented, as a trio of traumatised women. I just, didn't love this the way I loved other inner circle members! I get that they gave Nesta exactly what they needed, a family that doesn't hold the history of her sisters, who she doesn't have to worry about holding preconceived notions of disappointment. I loved this for her! Even then.. I just wasn't attached to either of them. I found their interactions cute - but boring. Towards the end, when their stories/pasts are revealed, I couldn't help but cringe slightly, I can't put my finger on why, but I just didn't buy it. Maybe it's the brit in me but I couldn't be moved by this slightly forced bonding moment.. which was so anticlimactic. My 'aww how cute' tolerance is defo deserved for characters whose tropes I love. Maybe they just didn't fit into this list. Maybe I'm just being a cow here?
Now, let's speak about the real star of the show.... A FUCKING MAGICAL HOUSE FRIEND??? YESSSSSSS. IF YOU ARE AN ILONA ANDREWS INNKEEPERS CHRONICLES FAN, U WILL LOVE! How was the animation of this somehow more touching than all of nesta's other friendships combined? Exactly what I ordered, thank you. This trope somehow touches more than any material bonding!! The cute witch x house dynamic (also maybe howls moving castle vibes?) I loved the trying to reach the target of 10,000 steps (a little Celaena HOF). I think this, heir of fire and acomaf are my favourite SJM books for this reason. Gripes: I definitely had some personal gripes with how other members of the inner circle treated Nesta (rhys i'm looking at you. Disappointed doesn't even cover it.) I inherently take offence to any elain scene, as i'm so over bland characters whose existence is reduced to wanting to fucking plant flowers?? like?? really? To go from moriel to that is such a downgrade, even if I fell out of love with Mor due to the way she snubbed Nesta (you're a 500 year old being and you can't see someone is clearly traumatised?). I adore Az so much, but if it aint polyamorous, I cannot see any pairing with Elain making me happy. (wouldn’t mind gwyn though) I think the whole mating bond that I do not want is a good dynamic, but I really hate that everyone has to be mates in this world. I don't think we were that surprised, but it would've been nice if the somehow, idk, developed a strong bond over time, without it being preordained? Like, even if they do not all actively stay with their mate, given how disproportionate mates are among the general population, what's the likelihood 6 members of the inner circle (including lucien) have mates?
My advice? Read this book if you love nessian and the acotar world in general, but don't expect the world building to be consistent with greater fantasy series'. This style of story is obviously what to expect. She writes what she likes, and if her fantasy is this - then who are we, as readers, to expect otherwise?
Final rating: 4.5 (no, i'm not objective, but objectivity does not exist if you are a real, human being, lol)
Original Characters: 5/5 (nessian/az/house wise) 1/5 (feysand - really over how they essentially take over the very end of the book - ugh, I wanted nesta's arc to be wholly separate from them) Writing style: 3.5 Cringe Scale: Low, with the exception of some dialogue. New Characters: 2 Plot: I went into it with a 2 and came out with a 4. Not in terms of complexity, but in terms of how addictive and enjoyable this reading experience was! (less)

Thank you @isitandwonder for tagging me! This is a rather nice tag game.
1. Which book has been on your shelves the longest? I got some books I loved as a child from my grandmother - the are not technically on my shelf the longest, but they are at least the oldest. One of them was a gift to my grandpa in 1967  Jeder Tag war schön by filmmakers Annelie and Andrew Thorndike. It is an itinerary of their journey with a cargo ship and is full of little notes and handwritten prints.
Tumblr media
(x)
2. What is your current read, your last read and the book you’ll read next? I’m reading To the Letter: A Celebration of the Lost Art of Letter Writing by Simon Garfield. The last book I read was Call Me By Your Name by Andre Aciman. Next will be finally The Handmaids Tale by Margaret Atwood.
3. Which book does everyone like and you hated? Hate is such a strong word. Some books just don’t click with me or it wasn’t the right time yet.
4. Which book do you keep telling yourself you’ll read, but you probably won’t? Not that I am aware of. But I do cheat and count audiobooks too, so I might will listen to some I might not would read by myself.
5. Which book are you saving for “retirement?” Reread The Science of Discworld and basically all the old Pratchett. And since I skipped the Jane Austen books in my youth, I’ll tackle them when I am grey and old.
6. Last page: read it first or wait till the end? Wait. It is not my strong side to be patient, but I try.
7. Acknowledgements: waste of ink and paper or interesting aside? I think i can be interessting and I mean, who wrote the book can acknowledge whom ever they like in their book.
8. Which book character would you switch places with? I would love to switch with Carrot Ironfoundersson or Gytha Ogg of the Discworld to see this magical and weird place with my own eyes. Or Toby to see this dystopian future from the rooftop gardens from the MaddAddam books. But I guess I would want to switch back in no time.
9. Do you have a book that reminds you of something specific in your life (a person, a place, a time)?
see 10.
10. Name a book you acquired in some interesting way. The name of the Rose was the first book I bought online. I got a hardcover copy for 1984. I read it when I was maybe 17 or 18 and did probably did not understood half of the multilayered work and maybe felt a bit smug about reading such a bold book anyway. I read it in my grandparents garden in the shade of the apple trees and I hold fond memories of this time - especially now looking back and feeling so far far away from that careless summer days with all the world ahead.
11. Have you ever given away a book for a special reason to a special person?
I love to gift fanart books as a gift bc. they are precious and everyone get’s very happy. I also love to give notebooks so people can write down clever or lovely thoughts or draw a penis in it. You do you.
12. Which book has been with you to the most places?
Inferno by Larry Niven and‎ Jerry Pournelle went with me to Paris, then Burgos, then Ponferrada to keep me company on the last 200km of the Camino. I finished it till I arrived in Finisterre and from there we went back to Germany.
13. Any “required reading” you hated in high school that wasn’t so bad ten years later?
Not really. I liked Faust and Das Parfüm (I have a soft spot for murderers in books and stories, who would have thought that XD) and the others I mostly forgot about.
14. What is the strangest item you’ve ever found in a book? When I was about 15 I got a book from our tiny tiny local library about Japanese fairytales. I was into Manga and Japanese culture and when I opened it at home if had a bookmark in it, which did not belong in the book. It was a picture of a beloved anime character and I was just so happy that in our tiny town someone else liked that.
15. Used or brand new? Currently, mostly used because it’s cheaper and also you get so much interesting stuff in the book.
16. Stephen King: Literary genius or opiate of the masses? I liked him as a teen and discovered him in my 30th. I keep it with King like with all the addictive stuff - not too much in a row. I am a huge fan of the Stand and I still love the short stories.
17. Have you ever seen a movie you liked better than the book? Oh. OH. I don’t recall. But i the case of CAll me by your name they did an amazing job. It is not better - to me at last, bc. it can’t be ‘better’ - but amazing. And regarding lots of a bit not good book to movie adaptations, it is unique.
18. Conversely, which book should NEVER have been introduced to celluloid? I would never say that maybe there is a time and place and director and cast and and and to make this book or that book into something amazing. If I don’t like the film I just go back to good old ‘In my own head it looked so much better’.
19. Have you ever read a book that’s made you hungry, cookbooks being excluded from this question?
Lately fresh harvested Italien peaches. Otherwise, I recall a big graving for rats on a stick *giggles*.
20. Who is the person whose book advice you’ll always take? @isitandwonder would be a good address, I think.
I tag: @odamakilock @conversationswithjohnlock @atlinmerrick @holmesianpose @221booksinthetardis @221b-hound @expo63

So you want a cockatoo?
@chronically-witchy asked me a very important question that promted me to write this long post about! So you want a cockatoo? Do they make good pets? Will they fit my lifestyle???? Well, here is my two cents:
They make terrible fucking pets.
And let me elaborate:
I personally, think no bird belongs in a cage, they should all have been left in the wild in the first place (excluding pigeons and doves since they ARE domestic).  But unfortunately, we have this mess to deal with which is why I always promote adoption and never purchasing a bird, because as you know that just continues the cycle.
Birds don’t make the best pets, especially cockatoos.  Cockatoos love to be in flocks, they’re incredibly noisy and destructive, and if they do not have attention or any outlets to let them be themselves, they self mutilate.  They self harm because there is nothing better to do.  Rose is a victim of it, though she has stopped for the most part it’s a hard habit to kick.  Even individuals that have raised their cockatoo since being a hatchling, some end up plucking because they are not in the wild.  And feather plucking and self mutilation is not found in the wild. Ever.
Tumblr media
(fanart by @capitalasper xo) Keep reading under the cut!
okay isn’t that art of Rose adorable????
anyway. Cockatoos make terrible pets.  Large parrots in general make terrible pets.  Smaller birds are easier, but they need just as much love and attention as their bigger cousins.
Cockatoos, unlike other parrots, are known to be more unpredictable and harder to read.  Therefor, one moment you could be singing and dancing and the next the cockatoo has taken a chunk out of your hand.  They’re incredibly hard to read and you often have to be cautious with them, especially if you are unfamiliar with the individual bird.  Luckily, Rose is a very special case and has never bitten anyone to draw blood, not even at the vet clinic.  But Rose is a very, very rare case.
They’re also, unlike other birds, more needy.  Now it really depends on the individual bird how much attention they want from their human friends.  Some like doing their own thing and other’s want to play with you.  Cockatoo’s have the nickname “velcro birds” because if they could, they would be attached to you 24 hours a day.  This is very true for Rose, if I’m home we are always in the same room together, and if I leave I usually take her or she does this horrible loud whistle that resembles an ambulance driving through your living room. And I’m not exaggerating at all.  Luckily, I’ve been getting Rose used to having some alone time and it’s working! She can be independent, but she prefers to be with me.
And that brings me to the next point, they’re noise level.  It’s no joke, my hearing is not as good as it was before her.  I also worked at an avian clinic so that already screwed my hearing, so to me as bad as it is, Rose doesn’t seem that loud? LOL!  Rose also doesn’t scream that much or that often thank god. She’s probably one of the quietest birds, I was lucky enough to be able to live in a no pets suite with her and the landlords didn’t mind at all!
But for cockatoos that aren’t Rose, you can’t live in a basement suite or apartment.  I couldn’t live in an apartment with Rose because she does scream when I’m gone.  Not because she’s bored, but because it’s just what they do.  They scream when they’re upset, and happy, and angry, or excited.  It’s how the express themselves and that’s just how they are.
Another thing, they do need a lot of attention and they do require a lifestyle change.  After work, I can’t just go grab drinks with friends, I have to stop at home first and spend time with my bird child.  Even when I’m out and it gets close to Rose’s bedtime, I have to stop home and get her ready for bed.  I have to work around Rose a lot, and that is a sacrifice you have to make for a parrot, and even pets in general.
HORMONES AND MATING SEASON.  If you have a baby too, around 1-5 years, puberty will happen.  Your cuddly angel baby will become a screaming, biting, evil menace.  It’s a complete personality switch.  If they liked you as a baby, sometimes after puberty they won’t, they’ll decide they like someone else and you will have to be able to deal with that.  That’s why I recommend always getting adults, since puberty has passed and you already see their true personality.  Mating season, happens between December and March usually.  They can become horny little buggers, trying to get their freak on with you o a favourite toy or your little brother.  They can also bite and get angry if you don’t reciprocate their advances.  It’s important to never touch below the neck on them as that is sexual to them and will think you mean “let’s get nasty” when in reality, it is impossible to get nasty with a bird.  You will have to be able to deal with their moodiness then, and know how to give them space.
Vet bills are not cheap.  Any vet bill isn’t cheap, but since birds are a veterinary specialty, they can be more costly.  As well, an avian vet may not live in your area.  I have to travel about 3 hours to mine.  There is a vet in my town, but Rose already knows her old vet and I’m not sure if it’s worth the transition.
Also more importantly, read the entirety of the website mytoos.com, they give a very in depth look at what it’s like to share your life with these birds.
IF you can get past the negative aspects of parrots as pets, they make such wonderful companions.  Unlike cats and dogs, they’re intelligence is immense, they’re like feathered people.  I know this article doesn’t point out many positives, but that’s the point and many overlook the negatives.  And when they do that, they become very unprepared and that is why so many cockatoos in shelters.
If you have your heart set on one, please do your research.  Thanks for reading my dears. (。・ө・。)
