Yin/yang is literally such a core philosophical concept that i feel like is just like lying at the center of human thought in that it's that same thing of greek mythology in people trying to describe the beginning of existence as chaos, just that there is a formlessness to everything, nothing has inherent meaning (a theme in buddhist philosophy as well) but things begin to have meaning when there is a delineation. A very basic one is myself and others. This is the foundation of human experience, the idea of experience being an existence separate from that which is not existence. Yin/yang as a concept is reflective of the fact that in the human way of thinking, lines are drawn between two things. As a human, if you look at one whole of something and make a division, you can divide them into two things. So the sky could be divided into night and day, when one concept is divided into two concepts, one of them will resemble 阴 and the other will resemble 阳 based on our perception of it. The thing that holds over from this discussion of human thought is not really that all people will associate the same things with the aspect of 阴 and the aspect of 阳, but that the nature of 'meaning' is that it is derived from divisions of a whole. Yet, because this meaning/division is an invention of perception, Yinyang as a concept reminds the human thinker that true and absolute division is not a reality that new perception cannot change. To have a concept of what is good, you need a concept of what is bad to differentiate the two. Yet, because of this, you can't just say that all things in your concept of what is good will always be good and all things in the concept of what is bad will be bad, because these are just verbal labels and communicative constructions we're trying to use to understand how we feel about the world around us. And that even though there may exist a division between two things, those two things will still be connected by the fact that they are a part of the whole of something else. the Yinyang is a circle with lines drawn between to the two parts, but the two still take upon the form of that circle.

thinking about the relationship between bot and mephone oh my god (analysis post)
Tumblr media
so, it's known how it's heavily implied bot is mephone's favorite contestant in iii, right? there's quite a bit of evidence to back this up:
• "listen yinyang, you're great. possibly my second favorite contestant still here!" <- well, what's his first favorite?
• when bot gets eliminated: "any chance you'd... want to co-host?" mephone obviously wants them to stay and is upset when they DO leave:
• "that's what happens when two alliances get SO caught up in their own drama, that they force out the greatest player!" <- he thinks they were the greatest player out of everyone in iii
• + him standing up for them with the springtastic contract ofc ("i don't like how they treated you.")
well yeah, that's all nice and dandy, you may or may not have realised that already, but then you think about... why specifically is bot his favorite out of everyone? well...
what if it's because bot is the only contestant that mephone didn't make?
what if its because they werent restricted by his creativity and basic personality ideas/stereotypes like how the others were made, outside of the narrow mindset he inherited from watching just reality tv in his past? what if it's because bot is also a robot that was made for a specific purpose, just like him? what if he looks up to the fact bot found themself and CHOSE who they were, something that mephone always wanted to do but couldn't because of cobs?
Tumblr media
mephone looks up to bot because they're something that he always strived to be; something unique. they might even have felt more alive to him subconsciously, which is ironic cause they're a literal robot, but that also makes them familiar to him in a sense; mephone grew up in solidarity next to a bunch of lifeless or barely sentient technology and no people from the outside world except for steve cobs (which is DEFINITELY not saying much) so to see another robot that's actually full of life must be something new to him, something special
oh yeah also the fact bot had actual good parental figures 😭 definitely something mephone wishes he has
it's honestly quite heartwrenching to see the parallels between the two, and the fact bot might be one of the only ones who survived after ii17 makes it hurt so much more considering both of them lost everyone else they cared about; they're both kinda in the same boat in some ways
but yeah thats abt it, thank you if u read this far lol 🙏 making analysis posts like these r rlly fun these two r silly

Naruto and being the Underdog
Okay so recently I was discussing naruto's characterisation in the comments section of a fanfic and the author was explaining that they don't like/never vibed with Naruto's character (which is totally fair). But then they explained how they felt the supposed underdog setup was contrived and didn't really work because Naruto never actually starts at zero thanks to his jinchuriki powers and being the yondaime's son. (And so here I am, on my soapbox to discuss how Naruto and the concept of being an underdog relate.)
On a physical level perhaps this applies, but Naruto places an equal (if not larger) amount of focus on the emotional action as it does on its plot action.
On an emotional level he has to work for each and every one of his personal relationships.
He wants to be hokage a role he can only take if he is both respected by his village and powerful enough to protect it. It''s a twofold goal. And in terms of the social aspect this is clearly stacked against him due to the hatred and exploitation of jinchuriki as well as shinobi in general, achieving emotional connection and dialogue between people who are used to might makes right or who are pre-disposed to look down on him or want to kill him puts him firmly at a disadvantage narratively.
With the notable exception of Hinata whose love is unconditional, whether it's Tsunade, Neji, Sasuke or Gaara or even Kurama the respect and attention that naruto craves are things he actively pursues in both good and bad ways and he earns them through his own effort.
He does this both by striving to understand these very different people and where they're coming from as well as surviving all the shit the world throws at him. Emotional and physical tasks.
In terms of being a jinchuriki and getting the rasengan easily thanks to his shadow clone bullshit / birthright connections to the yondaime It must first be acknowledged that the jinchuriki power is more of a disadvantage than a boon to him at first. First, because of kurama actively going out of his way to mess with his chakra control as a kid while doing the leaf exercise he was unable to learn the regular clone jutsu; it also results in him experiencing the trauma of discrimination and isolation from a young age which could easily have led to festering self-hatred and alienation if not for Iruka's intervention, it results in multiple S ranks who are fully capable of killing even shippuden level Naruto targetting him, and while the trade-off of boundless energy and survive-ability is immense those same boundless resources have the potential to burn him alive if he loses emotional control/gives into his most negative emotions - that's basically making the subtext text at that point, the story is about his emotional development and growth, something his "OP buffs" don't earn for him. Let's talk about boundless chakra resources for a moment. At the end of the original series, he only knows the rasengan; the rasenshuriken, the shadow clone justu and sage mode/yinyang mode by the end of the series and that's like 5 justu tops if we're counting yin/yang/bijuu mode and sage mode as jutsu. The majority of what he learned from jiraiya for three years seemed to be taijutsu only with a side of failed bijuu control. Naruto has his jinchuriki chakra from the start but that doesn't translate to an ability to use it, he has to spend hours working out how to do the shadow clone, he did not figure out how to do the jutsu because of his chakra even if that was the reason he was able to use it at all, and when it comes to the rasengan I will cite [someone who deleted their reddit account] here:
Naruto completed the first stage in three days and one night. He figured out how his chakra needed to move to burst the water balloon (thanks to a cat) but because he didn't have the necessary chakra control, he improvised by using another hand. He completed the second stage in three weeks or so. The next day(?), Jiraiya gave him a hint to improve his focus which allowed him to finally complete it. And the third stage was completed seven days later to win his bet with Tsunade. Once again, Naruto didn't have the control to focus his chakra the correct way despite his continuous efforts. It wasn't until he came up with another improvised method by using a shadow clone to focus the chakra that he was able to complete the final stage.
Meaning he is the one who comes up with unorthodox methods, such as also using his other hand, or using a shadow clone to focus the chakra, to learn it in four and a half weeks but he still had to figure out how to do it all himself. The shadow clone would've been useless without his understanding of the jutsu or his ability to do the individual parts of the jutsu. He earns the jutsu and could conceivably have learned it the old fashioned way were he not under an artificial time limit as both Jiraiya and Kakashi, both without jinchuriki power, know it and can use it.
Now I'll talk about his supposed privilege as the yondaime's child: Sasuke gets chidori and later kirin thanks to HIS connections but that's never remarked on in the same way. And in fact most people in the naruto-verse learn a big jutsu from their clan or parent; see Might Gai, the genius of hard work, learning the eight gates thanks to his father. The rasenshuriken is something he's only capable of learning thanks to his chakra and shadow clones I hear you quote Kakashi, but it's again, something he couldn't do without actually putting the work in to learn the jutsu. Naruto is on a time crunch because of Akatsuki, the fact he is capable of learning the jutsu once he has advice on wind chakra from Asuma and has practiced forming the rasengan and doing windblades enough means he didn't need the extra chakra to do it, having the chakra didn't automatically make him capable of the rasenshuriken all it did was speed up his chakra control practice exponentially, it would have taken him more time practicing but he could have learned the jutsu eventually even if he wasn't a jinchuriki. Now summons. Being the Yondaime's child might get him an in with Jiraiya to let him have the toad contract, but Sakura and Sasuke also get summoning contracts thanks to personal connections with Tsunade and Orochimaru and Jiraiya only gets him the opportunity. It's Naruto who has to use his willpower to stay on Gamabunta's back and it's Naruto who has to form relationships with his summons like Gamakichi, (a bond that becomes instrumental toward the end of the 4th war). Additionally learning Sage mode wasn't just a result of Naruto getting the contract because neither Sasuke nor Sakura achieved it despite both having contracts (and despite Kabuto managing it where Sasuke didn't) Sasuke with the Hawks as well as the Snakes. And importantly Naruto was unable to use clones or his extra chakra to speed up his training in this. In fact the clones only come into it after he has successfully mastered sage mode and function as a limited extra resource that's can't go beyond three shadow clones meditating and this doesn't function as more sage powah but as a means of extending his sage modes duration, a workaround that's only needed because his being a jinchuriki gets in the way of him gathering sage mode in real-time with the toads on him. In conclusion while his chakra lets him practice jutsu to learn them faster, this is not the case in either his sage mode or the yin yang release and only applies to the shadow clone, rasengan and rasenshuriken - all of which he had to actually learn and understand the mechanics of otherwise the jutsu wouldn't have worked no matter how many shadow clones he had try it and that with the exception of shadow clone he demonstrably could've learned them without being a jinchuriki. And in the case of rasengan and rasenshuriken he is under artificial time-limits imposed by Orochimaru and the Akatsuki.
So that's shadow clone, rasengan, rasenshuriken and sage mode covered but what about bijuu mode. An overpowered special mode he only gets for being a jinchuriki, that B only bothers to teach him because he's a jinchuriki, surely that's LEGIT op bullshit. No? No. At least not in comparison to the Sakura's forehead seal from Tsunade, Sasuke's Mangekyou abilities like izanagi, giant purple warrior and amaterasu, Obito's mokuton, Madara's sage of six paths abilities or the rinnegan's everything, anyway. Not to mention what the edo tensei are capable of.
The only reason bijuu mode works is that he earns Kurama's regard on an emotional level, it's not something which being a kage's kid or having jinchuriki chakra levels actually does fuck all to contribute to. He was that all along but Kurama still hated him and tried to take over his body. It's Naruto himself who has to reach out and make that effort to understand this person who he's always seen as a burden or a curse or an annoying tenant who doesn't pay rent, a monster who tries to kill him and take his body. It's Naruto who has to put in the emotional labour and see Kurama as a person, no matter the harm he's done.
Naruto is the underdog in spite of being "the chosen one" and having the strongest bijuu and a kage father because emotional labour is never easy and in a world like his it seems insane to even try. It's why everyone except him was prepared to give up on Sasuke, Naruto recognises his anger at Itachi and desire to avenge his family as valid, Naruto when he finds out the truth about Itachi from Danzo tells Sasuke he gets it, why he wants to destroy the village, why he's so angry, when Sasuke changes his mind and decides to become hokage instead of destroying it so he can change it, Naruto understands WHY even if he still wants to be kage himself. The problem with Sasuke is that his anger is self-destructive and self-isolating, not that it exists, it's when Naruto fights him one last time and makes Sasuke realise that he's only hurting himself and his loved ones at this point, that "talk no jutsu" finally works and Sasuke is able to listen to Naruto and come home.
It's also why Naruto earns being hokage; in a world full of killers, someone who is capable of acknowledging the harm done and not ignoring or forgetting it (like how he tells pain he can't forgive him), but who is also capable of looking past that and understanding the motivations and feelings of the person he's dealing with and talking to them on that level as equals hits so hard. It just felt like a fantastic set up for a diplomatic hokage capable of dealing with other kages and achieving a peace in spite of the fact they're all to the last, untrustworthy ninja mercenaries who are generally very ends justify the means. In a world of kill or be killed Naruto is still willing to kill, but he's also willing to understand and to talk. And he wasn't born with that, he worked for it and failed often, especially with Sasuke, it was never easy, it often appeared hopeless but he kept trying.
And we rooted for him because of it.

okay guys its a very common theory/hc that the ii and bfdi universes are connected and if that's the case what the fuck does this temple mean
unlike most objects, which probably have non sentient counterparts in universe with little to no implications, this has lots of implications because of the existiance of yinyang from ii
now as lollipop calls this a shrine, we know that this building is explicitly for religious purposes, as that's kinda what a shrine is, and that's really weird as everything else in canon points to the bfdi world being atheistic, with all mentions to god being replaced with the objects origins.
did yinyang come after the yinyang symbol? if that's the case, that means object china or atleast an equivalent had to exist at some point, to create the yinyang symbol and taoism. This, combined with the fact this is a shrine means at some point, in the bfdi world, the yinyang ended up being venerated like a god or atleast became a big part of the mythology.
This has big implications for yinyang as he was introduced way before this episode came out. In the bfdi canon the timeline is very linear with the exception of the new bfdia episodes, which means it's likely that yinyang was born before this temple existed or was discovered by four and company. Since there was no mention of any gods or temples before this very moment, either religion as a whole died out or this temple is recent.
Starting with the first scenario, if religion was well and burried and the yinyang had become a religious symbol, how could yinyang BE a yinyang? well the most obvious answer is that he was born when religion was around. This has some pretty serious implications as these are very clearly Roman/Greek inspired, and if you didnt know, ancient Roman times were a long time ago. This would mean yinyang could potentially be immortal, somehow stumbling from these ruins to where ever the fuck mephone was hiring.
The second scenario has way more implications with it as there are another two possible scenarios. Either yinyang was just a child in this recent religion, or he may be of divine origin (no seriously hear me out)
If yinyang was just born in this religion, does that mean there are little cross objects running around? is there a holy grail in a preschool playground somewhere?
it would align alot closer with the zero information we have on the object reproduction process if yinyang was just the god of this religion (or some sort of other divinity like a demigod), although it make alot less sense with everything else. Like how he got a head injury in iii 14, did he just let that happen or is he like in some mortal disguise? why did a random ass god/demigod choose to compete in possibly the worst run reality show ever?
so yeah that has been the end of my yapping session yinyang god HC is extremely funny to me send post

Nicholas Galitzine as Tom Riddle
Tumblr media
I will die on the #thicklipsTomRiddle hill, and it’s why I think Nick G is an ideal choice to play Tom Riddle.
Here is why:
A lot of TMR art and fandom face claims have Tom looking nearly like a villain already with over-the-top sharpness to his features and a shadowy, shifty look. I love it, honestly. So hot.
But there’s also a solid argument to be made that Head Boy Tom Riddle would have to have the golden retriever innocence of someone like Nicholas Galitzine. Allow me to explain.
Tumblr media
Based on the description in The Chamber of Secrets of the Ministry of Magic’s inquiry into Moaning Myrtle’s death, Tom wasn’t even noticed as a suspicious character (except by Dumbledore) because he was held in such high esteem by his teachers and classmates. To have this level of automatic deniability, Tom needed a top-ranking academic record, an irreproachable reputation, plus—and this is my argument—an innocent face.
I find David Kibbe’s 1987 body categorization scheme problematic in general, but for the sake of this conversation, describing “sharpness” (yang) in features, and “softness” (yin) can help us explain how some faces might have a certain level of ‘innocence privilege’.
Tumblr media
Kibbe associates certain “soft” features like bigger lips, bigger cheeks (regardless of weight) and other more “romantic” body dimensions with “yin” energy, the “light”, gentle and feminine side, or white on the Chinese yinyang symbol. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Kibbe associates sharp, prominent-boned features with “yang” energy, the “dramatic”, intense, masculine side.
According to Kibbe, everyone has a combination of these features. I know, it’s very reductive, and an overly-simplistic reduction of the Chinese yinyang model. I bring this up, though, because Kibbe’s presuppositions likely overlap with how Hollywood has conditioned us to interpret these facial archetypes; for example, we see lots of representations of young TMR with very angular cheekbones, gaunt cheeks and dramatic features. He’s often interpreted as a “dramatic” Kibbe type, the side with the highest concentration of “yang”.
Tumblr media
Considering Tom’s situation, however, it makes more sense to cast him as a young man as someone with a lot more “yin” in his features. Snakeface Voldemort is his villain era and that’s pure yang: dramatic, angular, sharp, and snakey.
So as a younger man, I imagine he would have to employ more “innocent” features. When you consider that Tom was viewed as more innocent than Hagrid—who is the *actual* golden retriever of the Harry Potter series—you have to assume that Tom not only seemed less shady in a circumstantial evidence stance, but he actually must have outperformed Hagrid in some of his genial, “yin” features.
Tumblr media
This is why I love Nick Galitzine’s look for Tom. My eye types Nick as a “soft dramatic” Kibbe Type which underneath is a dramatic body frame of very sharp angles, but covered in softer contours of body shape and more “yin” features like big eyes and big lips. It’s a metaphor for Tom’s dark, ambitious energy covered in a winsome, innocent-looking softness.
Tumblr media
Nick serves a lot of shady, mysterious energy in his expressions, but the lovely fullness in his lips, big eyes and slightly-soft cheeks counters his darkness.
Nick looks like a prince, like his role in RW&RB (2022) or the high school quarterback like his role in Bottoms (2023) or the gorgeous Jacobean fuckboy for King James in George and Mary (2024). All archetypes I think TMR employs to get ahead in a wizarding world where he’s the half-blood Heir of Slytherin who grew up in an orphanage but clawed his way to the top. Nick G’s look in general is a great example of how I imagine TMR would combine features, displaying the dynamic of his character.
Tumblr media
Do you think Nick G makes a convincing Tom Riddle?

what's your opinion on yinyang?
Yinyang’s interesting, especially since they’re two in one! I haven’t interacted much with either of them on the show (Except Yang, but he both yelled at me and slapped me…) however, we’ve interacted a few times at the hotel. They’re pretty amusing, especially in their dynamic. You kinda know what to expect from them both despite the chaos, given their contrasting personalities, y’know?

the fragility scale (or triangle)
i like to think the whole "shimmer recovery center" thing would've taken at least couple of weeks to set up and test to see if it worked (mostly because i wanna see what measures the contestants would take to keep themselves safe) -> a fragility scale (or . triangle)
from top to bottom:
top tier are the most fragile: balloon, paper, anyone made of glass/can be shattered -> oj, lightbulb, test tube, tea kettle. foods/plants/organics ->
clovers luck would probably keep her safe, but marsh, cherries and blueberry are more delicate, with pickle and apple being the "hardest" of the few
for glass/ceramic characters like lightbulb, tea kettle, oj and test tube, they'd have to stray away from "rough" physical activities that could make them tip over and shatter/spill (toilet is the exception. he's special <3)
for paper he'd just have to avoid water as usual and any rough physical activities. balloon however . this guy probably has to do all the above and MORE . he probably doesn't even leave his room without fearing for his life . Poor Thang.
middle tier are "safe" but have to take certain precautions: (mic, taco, cheesyyyy???, box, bomb*, tissues and fan)
taco and cheesy are fine but avoid hard physical (and mental in tacos case) activity to avoid shattering or . does cheese rip??? tear??? break??? pick one but you get the idea
box has to avoid large pits of water and . hammers . Please.
bomb is fine but cannot be anywhere near a fuse or anything that could set him off and that's for everyones sake .
mic is arguably the most durable, just has to avoid water so she won't short fuse/malfunction
bottom tier are the most durable (or have abilities that keep them safe -> inner flame powers) : (cabby, trophy, baseball, nickel, silver spoon, candle, soap, suitcase, paintbrush, lifering and bot)
most are self explanatory -> silver spoon and candle take a "protector" role, the powers from their inner flames serve as protection
miscellaneous: (goo, yinyang ans ghost gang)
i have absolutely no idea what yinyang is even made of . is he like rock solid. and goo is ...goo.
for the ghost gang, you cant go on the fragility scale if you're already dead!!!!

i will not draw:
anything that makes me uncomfortable (proships, specific shows, etc.)
i've watched BFDI (all seasons), II (all seasons also), HFJONE, ORB, TOT, Showvember, TNM, CFMOT, BURNER, Love of the S*N, X-FORD, THANOS, Object Legends, TDOS, Excellent Entities (all seasons), The Waiting Room, ITFT, Animatic Battle and Paper Puppets + PPT2, so if you ask one of these ill probably answer more quickly hehe
not saying every ship i dont like is a proship! just giving an example. (DISCLAIMER: i do not think ships with bot (except bot x fan or test tube) are proships since i headcanon them to be a young adult, same with yinyang. i do not mind trife and tacomic or any "toxic" ship in that matter. ask whatever and you shall receive!)

If you don't mind, would you like to info dump us about inanimate insanity?
At least to fill us in on what's been going on around the island-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As for what’s been going around the island, we just finished filming episode 5!! We finally found out what was inside Box— it was the word box, very exciting— and Bomb was added just to replace Apple. Except Yinyang ATE Bomb!! Neither of which makes much sense!! But he’s not being added because of that.
(Mephone couldn’t revive Bomb because he hadn’t made an icon for him yet… definitely something I’m adding to my theory board!!)

I actually really do like yin a lot... pudding boi.......
I think abt him a lot just like, he's like 'I'm the good half' while also being not exactly 'good' sometimes. I could see him having a big suppression issue w/ his 'evil' half if you consider them a system, where he feels shame from yang's actions and thus tries to suppress yang who only gets angry and more forceful with fronting.
I also like that yin likes food (we'll ignore that he ate someone just ignore that ok) like when yinyang said 'I am chocolate' I'm p sure it was the yin voice he just loves his little snacks :) Except no drinks, pure chocolate syrup from the bottle is fine but if you give him a juice he does not want it!! he only drinks water!!!
I could also so uh, trigger warning for mention of sexuality/sex as a concept under the read more
I could see yin having a lot of conflicting feelings towards being sexual in any way because of the "purity" people put on not having sex in society. So like just think of like, yin w/ hypersexuality due to suppression and he feels awful abt the topic. Meanwhile yang could be expected to be interested in sex while he's like not actually interested and maybe even on the asexual spectrum. Idk just a fun headcanon to think abt ig! I won't tag this nsft cause to me this is just talking abt the concepts + mental health relating to sexuality, but that's why I put the read more for people who don't wanna read abt it.
Anyways yea that's my main chunk of yin (and a bit of yang) headcanons.
Yin is just underrated as himself imo

Welcome Everyone, to Hotel Hoot!
Welcome to the (un)Official Hotel Hoot ask blog! Here, you can ask almost any Inanimate Insanity contestant from any season! We decided that just because the show is over, doesn't mean the audience interaction has to end! It is an honor to be making the first outreach into broader Object Society (because we technically didn't exist in it before, outside of the show) so, you can teach us things, and we can answer any questions you have about our new lives! - OJ
OOC: Hello II community! This is an ask/rp blog for the aftermath of the Inanimate Insanity Season 2 Finale! So, yes, this blog WILL have spoilers for II! The main difference between here and the normal timeline is that Hotel OJ/Hotel Hoot still exists, since it wasn't technically made by MePhone4 (It was built by whoever OJ paid to) and Paper and OJ still run it! Almost every contestant lives there, all except for the dead ones, Apple, and Marshmallow (All in purgatory mansion instead, also purgatory mansion also exists for the same reason)
Right now, EVERYONE at the hotel is open for asks! This list (at the moment) includes: | Balloon | Baseball | Blueberry | Bomb | Bot | Box | Cabby | Candle | Cheesy | Cherries | Clover | Fan | Goo | Lifering | Lightbulb | Microphone | Nickel | OJ | Paintbrush | Paper | Pepper | Pickle | Salt | Silver Spoon | Soap | Suitcase | Taco | Tea Kettle | Test Tube | The Floor | Tissues | Trophy | YinYang |
I know, a long list- you can ask any character is on this list, or even ask more than one at a time! General dni, dont be a weirdo, SFW interactions only
