Living As Foes (1/11) [Eddie Munson/Reader]
Summary: It only takes you one week to realize Eddie Munson hates you. It only takes you one year to fall in love with him. Go figure.
Word Count: 1.8k
Author's Note: Based on a prompt I received: "ok random idea because eddie seems like a bug flirt but when he has a legit crush hes hopeless so reader is so confused because eddie flirts with everyone except her"
Really nervous about this, so if you've enjoyed this, please let me know! Also, huge shout out to @joz-stankovich for helping me iron out some details. You're the best. 💖
Read on AO3
March 1985 (pt. 1):
"Alright, class," started Mr. Greer, commanding the attention of the class. "I know you're all seniors and you're all eager to graduate, but you're not quite there yet."
You somehow knew that whatever Mr. Greer said next was going to suck.
"So, that being said, I'm going to assign a project."
There was a collective groan from the students in the room.
"I know, I know," Mr. Greer said, holding his hands up in a placating manner. "How about this, alright? I'll assign partners. That way you can share the work with someone else. Sound good?"
"I've got a suggestion for you," Eddie Munson spoke up from the back of the room.
You could tell that Mr. Greer was already annoyed by whatever Eddie was going to say before Eddie even continued.
"What do you say we just skip this little project and you give us all an A? How about that?"
"How about no?" Mr. Greer shot back, his tone distinctly unimpressed with Eddie's antics. "If you want to graduate this year, Mr. Munson, then you'll put all your focus into this project."
Eddie made a noise of disinterest. You glanced over your shoulder to see him leaning back in his seat, quirking an eyebrow at Mr. Greer. "I just don't know, y'know? I mean, this might not be my year. Not if Ms. O'D has anything to say about it."
"She's probably failing you because you call her Ms. O'D. Ever think of that?" Steve Harrington asked, shooting Eddie a disbelieving look.
"I think she likes it. Why else would she keep me around?"
"God help your partner," you heard Mr. Greer mutter. "I'll be drawing names out of a bowl," Mr. Greer continued, choosing to ignore Eddie. "This keeps it fair, and everyone is guaranteed a partner. Now, you guys ready for some learning?"
Mr. Greer frowned at the silence that followed before he sighed. He pulled a large, neon green bowl out from a box beside his desk.
"Now, everyone should write their name down on a slip of paper and then come drop it in the bowl. When you're done, I'll draw the names."
"Think if we write really slow, he'll forget there was a project in the first place?" You heard Eddie ask the person sitting next to him. You glanced back to see that it was Billy Hargrove sitting next to Eddie.
"Just shut up and write your name already," Billy muttered. "You're starting to annoy the shit out of me."
"High praise," Eddie mused before he made a show of ripping out a piece of paper from his notebook. When he realized he had your attention, he shot you a wink, placing his pen in his mouth. He ripped the pen cap off with his teeth before spitting it to the side.
You rolled your eyes before turning back around in your seat. As you wrote down your name on your own slip of paper, you couldn't help but agree with Mr. Greer.
God help Eddie Munson's project partner.
***
You let out a sigh as you dropped into a chair at the library table you had claimed. Your books were already spread out on the table and your notebook was open, ready for you to take notes. You had an idea of what you wanted to do for the project and how you wanted your future presentation to go, but there was one key part that was missing.
Your partner.
You had been waiting in the library for the past ten minutes. You were starting to grow bored and impatient. You had already walked to the water fountain twice to get a sip of water and now you were absentmindedly drumming your fingers on the tabletop.
You were just about to leave, figuring that you were being stood up, when someone dumped their bag on the table in front of you.
"Sorry about that. Had a little business to attend to," your partner said before dropping into the seat across the table from you.
"You're late," you pointed out, quirking an eyebrow at your partner.
Eddie shrugged his shoulders, reaching out to grab his bag. "Like I said..." he trailed off, glancing curiously at the girl that was passing your table. "I had something else to take care of first."
You glanced at the girl, watching her walk away, before you looked back at Eddie. You wondered for a moment if his business had included hooking up and you found yourself rolling your eyes.
"Look, if you're too busy getting laid to do this project with me--"
"Getting laid?" Eddie's incredulous expression threw you for a moment. A smirk pulled at his lips as he leaned across the table. "Is that what you think was happening there?"
You shrugged your shoulders. " I mean...yeah? What else could it have been?"
Eddie chuckled, bringing a hand up to brush his hair away from his face. "That's just..." he cut himself off, his expression morphing from amusement to something you couldn't quite recognize. "Priceless," he finally finished with a sigh. "Look, we going to get this project started or not? I've got a meeting later I can't exactly miss."
You were thrown off guard by his abrupt change in demeanor. At first, he seemed like he was attempting to get along with you, but now you weren't so sure. Now, he kept his eyes down, rifling through his bag, and barely looked at you.
Was it something you said?
***
"So," Stacy said, catching up to you outside the cafeteria the next day. "What's it like being partnered up with the freak?"
You shook your head, shooting your best friend an unimpressed look. "Don't call him that, alright?"
"Why shouldn't I? Everyone else does. Besides, the guy is kind of freakish, wouldn't you agree?"
"I wouldn't say that," you argued, thinking over your afternoon with Eddie in the library. He had seemed nice enough at first, but as the evening wore on, he seemed like he wanted nothing to do with you. You had worried for a moment that there was something wrong, but he seemed to have a smile for everyone except for you.
There was even a moment when the librarian had walked by your table. She informed you that the library would be closing in ten minutes. Eddie had been methodically ripping up pieces of paper, seemingly listening to you talk about the project, when a grin had appeared on his face.
"Why Mrs. Jennings," he had said, leaning forward in his seat. "You're looking lovely as ever."
Mrs. Jennings was well into her seventies and had been married for at least fifty of them. And yet, her cheeks flushed and she looked as if she was a young girl getting complimented by her crush. "Oh, Mr. Munson, what am I going to do with you?"
"Nothing we can tell Mr. Jennings about," Eddie crooned, gifting her with a wink.
"You're terrible," Mrs. Jennings said, a huge grin still on her face.
"The worst," Eddie agreed, holding his hands up, as if saying 'guilty as charged.'
"You've got ten minutes," Mrs. Jennings reminded the pair of you before making her way towards a girl paging through a book a few tables over.
"Guess it's time to go," Eddie said, a waver in his voice that had you looking to him in confusion. His smile had dropped and now he was hastily pushing his things into his bag. "Got places to be. Things to do."
"Right," you mused, wondering if you had managed to somehow royally piss off Eddie Munson at some point in the past couple of hours. "See you tomorrow?"
"Sure," he had agreed before grabbing his bag. "Tomorrow."
"Why wouldn't you say that?" Stacy asked, elbowing you in the side as she steered you towards your next class. "All he does is disrupt class and heckle the popular kids and go on and on about D and D, whatever that is," she muttered. "He's terrible."
"The worst," you found yourself echoing Eddie's words.
But that was just it. Eddie wasn't the worst. He had been kind, if a bit standoffish. He had smiled at people and cracked jokes with people and basically looked at everyone except for you.
You had found yourself wishing he would give you the attention he was giving everyone else. If you were being honest with yourself, you had been the tiniest bit jealous. Even of Mrs. Jennings, because at least Eddie had had a genuine smile for her.
"What's that look for?" Stacy asked, drawing you to a stop outside your math class. "Did he do something funny to you?"
"No," you immediately defended Eddie. "He was fine."
But you couldn't help but think it over and over and over again as you coasted through your math class. You had been jealous of everyone having Eddie's attention. Did that mean you wanted Eddie's attention?
Did that mean there was just the smallest of possibilities that you had the beginnings of a crush on Eddie?
It should have been impossible. Eddie was loud and dangerous and everything you had never been drawn to in a person before, but now?
Now, you thought getting paired with him for a project wasn't the worst thing that could happen to you. Maybe you could learn more about Eddie Munson if he would only give you the time.
The thought carried you through the rest of your day until you were set to meet Eddie at the library again after school. You sat at a table for fifteen minutes, assuming Eddie was just going to be late again.
It wasn't until fifteen minutes turned into half an hour that you realized Eddie simply wasn't going to show up at all.
Maybe you had done something to piss him off the day before. Maybe he was blowing off the project because he simply didn't care about it or graduating this year. Maybe, you couldn't help but think, you should demand some answers from him. If he was going to waste your time, then weren't you entitled to at least know why?
You found yourself packing up all your books and papers, anger and indignation sharpening your movements. You offered Mrs. Jennings a weary, tense smile on your way out the door to your car. You fumbled with your keys, finally managing to get your car unlocked after a few moments of grumbling and cursing. You dropped your things into the passenger seat, your hands tightening on the steering wheel for a moment as you settled in the driver’s seat, and mentally mapped out the way to the trailer park where Eddie lived with his uncle.
You could do this, you reasoned with yourself. Eddie was sure to be home, right? Never mind that you weren't invited or expected. Eddie had stood you up and you deserved to know why he was content to let you wait for him when he would never show up.
However, by the time you were turning out of the library parking lot, all of your resolve had fled from you. You simply turned right instead of left, knowing that it was the route that would take you home.
If anything, you couldn't help but think, there was always the chance you could get your answers from Eddie the next day at school.

My Top 10 Webtoons (2020-2021)
So, it’s been one year since I started Webtoons/Manwha. At first I downloaded the app to read Tower of God, then I started reading more stuff and now I’m deep into Webtoon hell lol. Anyway, I just wanted to share my Top 10 series...tbh there’s a few more I wish I could add to this list, but I’m not done reading them yet.
So...here :)
Sorry for any typos or any incoherent thoughts. I'm very very tired :)And there are spoilers for some of these series.
1.) Back to You
Honey B has the prettiest art oh my God. 😍
I’m a huge fan of time travel stories where the protagonist is trying to save someone else. In Hanyoung’s case, she decides to save the boy she was in love with Jaehyun.
I really don’t have much to say about this except that I really enjoy it, and things have been going too smoothly in the story atm and I’m expecting something bad to happen at any second. 👁👄👁
2.) See You in my 19th Life
Lee Hey is incredible. This another story where the art is gorgeous, and I like the story in this one a lot more. The progression of Seoha and Jiuem’s relationship is really sweet 🥰. I’m curious to see how Jieum’s sister and Seoha react when they find out who she truly is...I don’t think it’ll go well :’)
A Good Day To Be a Dog is another awesome series by them which I recommend too, but I like this story a lot more.
3. The Remarried Empress
The Remarried Empress is about a cool, sophisticated, intelligent woman who has to deal with her cheating idiot of a husband😡, and his mistress...who is also a idiot...and manipulative 🙄
But it’s okay because Navier has Heinrey and everything will be okay!! Hopefully...lol. 😅
This was one of the first stories I started reading when I downloaded the Webtoon app. I wasn’t too sure at first about continuing it, but the drama and Navier’s comebacks were so good that I had to keep coming back twice a week to read new episodes.
Navier will keep winning and she will get everything that she deserves 🥰
4.) Let's Play
Hilarious and relatable...Let’s Play 🎮 is definitely a story near and dear to my heart. I’m very excited to Sam’s growth in season 3!!
Look, just go read it. Then you’ll know why it’s in my Top 5 haha.
5.) My Deepest Secret
MDS is wild as hell 😳, but at least Yohan is there 😅 Season 3 has been fantastic so far, and I’m kind of scared of how the series is going to end... I don't know what kind of life Emma can have at this point.
6.) Siren's Lament
Lyra, Shon, and Ian my loves 🥰😍💕💞💚💙💛
Siren’s Lament is a beautiful story. I have a lot of respect for the author being a student and working on this at the same time haha. Props to her for managing that!
I don’t know too much about Sirens, but reading this made me want to read up more about the lore surrounding them. Siren’s Lament did a good job of adding its own unique twist to the lore.
10/10 recommend
7.) Tower of God
Yeah, boi. The anime left off on a cliffhanger, then I realized we weren’t going to get a season 2. So, I decided to read TOG from the beginning because I heard that some things were skipped in the anime (and yes quite a bit was different and a few scenes were cut).
I’m currently at the Workshop Battle. Team Sweet and Sour are my favs, but I have a feeling something bad will happen to them 😥
The amount of episodes is still daunting to me, but I know I’ll be caught up one day. 🥲
8.) The Kiss Bet
The Kiss Bet is really cute 🥰 The second season was definitely an improvement. Each chapter left a smile on my face, and I impatiently waited for the next one.
I was rooting for Patrick, but now I ship Sara and Oliver ahahaha. I’m super excited for season 3 because the drama is going to be soooo goooood. I want to find out more about Oliver and Joe’s family situation or at least see their mom.
9.) Nice to Meet You
NTMY gave me a boost of serotonin every week 😁. Like no joke. I had a big ass smile on my face after finishing a chapter. Every chapter was just tooth rotting fluff. Wyn is best boi, but it sucks that he’ll be suffering from second boy syndrome in the upcoming season 😢
10.) unOrdinary
At first I didn’t like unOrdinary...I’m not to sure what happened, but all of sudden I became obsessed with it and began binge reading it.
The fight scenes were awesome and I’m excited to see the Wellston students take down the authorities and Ember. I’m glad John is a lot better now because damn it was hard seeing him so destructive. Hopefully, things will be okay for him and Seraphina now (I doubt it. Too much is up in the air).
My favorite trio - Remi, Isen, and Blyke...I love them and they are in so much trouble rn. I wonder how they’ll get out of it.
Honorable mentions:
- SubZero
- Flow
- Her Bucket List
- I Love Yoo
- LUMINE
- Midnight Poppy Land
So yeah those are my Top 10! I hope to do another list next year because I'm sure the rankings on this list will end up changing 🥰

And that's why you should read the medical prescriptions (Gawain x AFAB!Reader)
Rating: Explicit, +18
Words: 2,576
Warnings: Potions - Potion Accident - Breastfeeding - Lactation Kink - Denial - Dom/sub Undertones
Summary: Working for Paracelsus in exchange of QP sounds better than it actually is.
Notes: There's mentions of breasts and menstruation, but aside from that all terms used for the reader are gender neutral
“So… You promise this is 100% safe, right?”
You carefully examined the small bottle and its cerulean liquid. It was thicker than water but not as viscous as syrup.
“Well, I’ve done enough tests with other subjects to determine that it’s harmless, it should be ok. Still, I have to detect if it causes any side effects, we don’t want to repeat what happened last time, do we?”
“I mean; it wasn’t that bad, you aren’t always able to glow in the dark. Mash was pretty mad, though.”
You shook a bit the content, examining further under the light. It didn’t look suspicious. Also, you knew that, besides Paracelsus reputation, he wouldn't harm his master, just as any servant at Chaldea.
"Anyway, what is this supposed to be?"
"If it works as I expect, it will be a mana buster. Chaldea can provide enough mana to all servants without any problems, but it may occur a situation in which you could be in need of transfer your energy. This could help you to restore your mana or help your servants on difficult situations."
"Eh~? You sure are cautious... Well, I have no objection whatsoever, but first things first; where's my payment?"
The alchemist giggled at your impatience.
"Ok, fair enough, I'll pay you first. Is 6 million QP enough for you?"
"Wha... Wait, 6 million?"
"Well, you told me you were saving for something special, right? Consider this a token of gratitude for being my test subject."
"Thank you so much! I promise I'll get you to third ascension as soon as I can!”
With that said you drank the strange liquid, just a gulp in case Paracelsus needed to make any changes on the composition. Now you only had to wait and see if something changed.
From time to time he would ask you if you felt something different or if you were sick. After half an hour he decided to conclude the test, after all it was getting late (since you sneaked in his room after dinner so Mash wouldn't yell at you for acting imprudently). Before leaving, he asked you to keep him updated in case something happened.
When you got to your room you let yourself fall in the mattress, exhaustion hitting you like a truck. It had been a hard week, working nonstop, but finally you got the amount of QP you needed. Hard work totally paid off.
Sitting at the edge of the bed you started taking of your clothes to put on your pajamas. It was then when you realized your body was feeling kind of heavy, specially your chest. You cupped it gently in your hands; you weren't on your period but you could feel it was a bit bigger. So either hell was coming soon than expected or your body was begging you to sleep. Maybe both. Right now the only thing you could think of was rest, get some nice 8 hours of sleep in case that was possible and stop thinking for a bit.
But apparently that was too much to ask for, because just as you covered yourself with the bed sheets someone knocked at the door.
"Maybe if they think I'm asleep-"
"Master, may I come in? I was hoping to talk with you if you're not busy"
"I actually was busy, trying to sleep..." you mumbled to yourself, getting out of bed "Sure, come in... Oh, Gawain, it was you."
Honestly, if it was anyone else you would be really mad. For him you could make an exception.
"I'm sorry to disturb you this late at night, you didn't come to train this morning so I wanted to check on you."
"OW, look at that." you rested your hands on your hips and puffed your chest up a bit, trying to look superior "You didn't see me for a day and you're already missing me? I was unaware of the effect I had on people."
He laughed at your response.
"Don't worry, I actually didn't, specially since I saw you already twice entering on Paracelsus room." his expression changed completely, you couldn't remember the last time he looked that disappointed "Mash asked me to keep an eye on you because she knew you've been helping him by being his Guinea Pig as she claimed. Anything to say about that?"
"... Oops?"
"Seriously, what were you thinking?"
"Oh, come on! They were safe experiments with some kind of weird inconveniences, I was just helping and he paid me for it, I needed that QP!"
"If you needed it that bad then you could have asked me for help instead of putting yourself at risk. "
"I... couldn't..."
"Master, I've been serving you for a long time now. Is there any reason why you can't trust me? As a knight I have the duty to protect you, so for me it would be unforgivable if you were hurt, specially over such a trivial matter as collecting materials-"
"They were for your skill upgrade." You bluntly confessed.
The saber just stared silently at you, trying to process the information.
"Excuse me?"
"Listen, this week I was working so hard to get materials because I wanted to finally level your skills at maximum level. I've even been saving 3 crystallized lore for it! But you know how much you need for that kind of update? 10 million EACH!! That means 30 MILLION FOR 3 SKILLS!! SO YEAH, I COULDN'T ASK YOU FOR HELP BECAUSE IT WAS A SURPRISE AND THE ONLY THING I COULD DO WAS ASKING PARACELSUS. AND WHAT IT PISSES ME OFF THE MOST IS YOU COMING AND TELLING HOW IRRESPONSIBLE I AM FO- WHA-!"
Gawain's strong arm wrapped around your body, hugging you tightly. His grasp was so firm it almost drew your breath away. It wasn't unpleasant having him holding you though.
"Oh my, you should have told me sooner! I'm so happy right now... I need to repay you for being so generous with me."
"Does that mean you'll stop scolding me?"
Automatically, he ended the hug just to cross his arms, giving you that disapproving look again.
"No. Even if your motives were good that's no reason to act how you acted... Uh... Master?"
"What? You've got anything more to complain about my lack of self-awareness?"
"That's not it! Just... How to explain...? Your shirt..."
"Yes?"
"It's wet. Around your chest."
"Uh?"
You looked down to realize you had some small spots on what you thought it was the areola area. The stain was still humid so it was something recent, but how did you get wet? Gawain's armor wasn't humid and it wouldn't leave those kind of marks.
Lifting your shirt up, you touched one of your breasts to confirm that all your skin was dry except the nipple.
"It doesn't look as if it's bleeding so that's a relief. It's not a wound so unless this is one of the potions side effects I have no clue what to do-Why are you staring at the wall?"
The man coughed, not bothering to turn around.
"It is no proper for a knight to stare."
"Wow, what a gentleman!"
"You're sarcasm is pretty sharp today."
"It's been a long day, I just wanted to go to sleep and I suddenly find myself segregating some kind of weird liquid. So yes, I'm quite pissed."
Wait a minute... Maybe...
You pinched gently one of your nipples. A tiny drop of some whitish substance dripped from there to your index finger, so you decided to smell it.
"Master, what are you doing?"
"What does it look like? Besides, weren't you busy with your gentlemanly act?"
He didn't answer. You knew he tried to act all cool and steady when he actually was worried about your condition.
Please tell me I'm wrong. It cannot be what I think it is.
And with that, you licked it from your finger.
"Master, now I'm seriously concerned about how you're acting!"
"It's milk." you mumbled "I'm segregating milk."
You sat on your bed, assimilating the situation in silence while Gawain stared at you, dumbfounded.
"I'm going to kill Paracelsus." you said after a couple of minutes
"Wait, wait... Are you completely sure it's not anything else?"
"I fucking now how milk tastes like, ok? God, why couldn't it be the glowing in the dark thing again? This is fucking disgusting."
"Well, it's not as bad as it looks like. I mean, it's something normal that happens when people get pregnant-"
"YOU WOULDN'T SAY THAT IF YOU WERE ON MY POSITION! THIS IS ONE OF THE GROSSEST THINGS THAT CAN HAPPEN TO DE HUMAN BODY!"
"You're exaggerating"
"Only animals should produce milk... This is like a curse. Is karma paying me back for something I did? Other kind of punishment would be better than this."
"What kind of potion could make something like that? I really doubt that alchemist's purpose was this."
"Of course not! Listen, he told me it was some kind of mana buster. Like, it should help me or my servants to recover energy on dangerous situations."
"Did you feel anything when you tried the milk?"
"Eh? No, nothing weird. I mean, my body feels sore but that must be because I'm tired. Why?
"You said it was supposed to be used to transfer mana so, maybe you can do it by... You know..."
"Oh no, uh-uh. Don't even think about it."
"I'm just saying it's a possibility. Besides..." he paused, trying to choose his words carefully "assuming that your body aches as a side effect of the elixir, it should be best to get rid of it."
"I'm not a cow, Gawain."
"That's not what I meant! It's just-"you interrupted him by cupping his face between your hands and pulling him closer.
"I'm gonna say this slowly, so pay attention:" you said, squeezing his cheeks "try thinking with just one of your heads, because at this point I don't know if what's talking is your confused brain or your rising blood pressure."
He blushed wildly, feeling exposed.
"Ok, maybe I wasn't thinking clearly."
"You think?"
"But see it from this point: either you take care of that now or you wait until tomorrow and tell Paracelsus about it."
"There's nothing wrong with the second option, I'm supposed to inform him in case things go wrong."
"That's true, the only inconvenience is he'll have to analyze it, which means he'll probably have to, bluntly speaking, milk it somehow."
…
Oh.
You didn't think about it. That would probably be even more embarrassing than this.
"Let's say that supposedly you're right, nothing warranties I won't keep producing it."
"It's worth the try, after all I doubt the effects will be permanent. And even if you stopped, what's been produced will still be there, so better to get rid of it as soon as possible."
"You sure think a lot for a horny brained." You sighed "Ok, you win, this will be less embarrassing than asking Paracelsus for help. I'm doing this because I trust you, however we're doing this by my rules so you're not allowed to do anything else unless I agree to it, got it?"
Gawain nodded as he picked you up and changed positions, sitting you on his lap. His hands swiftly roamed under the shirt, trying to lift up the fabric; still they were stopped by you own hands. You made yourself clear once more, if he wasn't going to listen then there was no point in continuing. Fortunately for him, he soon understood what you wanted, so he rested his hands on your hips, waiting for the next move.
You kissed his forehead, letting him know he did good and then proceeded to take off your shirt. Moving you body closer, you continued by kissing his neck, leaving small bite marks whenever you felt like it. The knight quickly became impatient, his grip on your hips stronger than before. Maybe it was time to play nicely.
You surrounded his neck with your arms, as a signal that he could continue from that point on. At first he mimicked your movements, leaving a trail of kisses from your neck to your cleavage. Then, he finally moved to your left nipple, rolling his tongue over it.
It was weird feeling the hot saliva over your skin. With a sigh, you stroked his blonde locks, observing how he started sucking at a slow pace. You bit your lip, trying to hold your breath; it could possibly be another side effect of the potion or even a reaction to the new stimulation, but you were more sensitive than before.
He kept drinking the liquid for a while and you swore you could feel how the weigh on your chest was slowly decreasing. When he was satisfied (or rather when the milk ran out), he let go, leaving a small trail of saliva. Licking his lips, he looked up at you, waiting for anything you had to say.
"So... How are you feeling?"
"Honestly? It feels as if I drank 3 cups of coffee, my chest is beating up really fast."
"It could be that you actually don't have any need to get more mana and your body is reacting like this. Maybe we should stop."
"No! I'm... I'm fine, I swear."
"You sure? It doesn't really sound like that to me..."
"There's no need to worry about me, Master, your condition is more important than mine."
"Well, I'm feeling better than before, but that's no excuse. Please, promise me that you'll stop if you start feeling bad."
"I promise." he said, breathing heavily on your chest.
As quickly as he finished the sentence, he proceeded to give some attention to the other nipple, not even letting you complain about his impatience. This time, Gawain's pace was faster than before, it almost worried you. Almost. You soon understood the sudden impetuosity; he moved his hips involuntarily and you could feel the bulge forming in his pants.
"Gawain, what are you doing?"
"Master, I..." he tried to collect himself, failing miserably "I'm sorry, it's just... I can't help it, I need to-"
"Gawain," you raised his chin up "I told you before you weren't allowed to act on your own without permission, right?"
"But- "
"If you need to you can use the shower, I won't help you from this point so you should take care about that alone."
"… Yes, Master."
You picked your shirt from the floor, leaving his lap. As soon as you saw him closing the shower door you let yourself fall in bed. You were really tired even knowing that Gawain did all the job. Without realizing, you fell asleep with the sound of the shower in the background.
Some minutes passed until you opened your eyes again, when Gawain lied by your side, pulling you closer.
"Did I wake you up?"
"Nah, don't worry. You feeling better?"
"Yes, much better. I don't think I'll be able to sleep though."
You rested your head on his chest to feel his heart beat.
"Wow, it sure goes fast. Guess you'll need to tell Paracelsus tomorrow."
"What do you mean?"
"You're going to tell me you didn't think that after drinking that you would have to accompany me inform him about the hole thing?"
His silence was enough to answer your question.
"So you didn't, what a surprise."
"Do I really have to go?"
"Oh you sure do."

Last week, you stole from gangster Bang Chan unknowingly. This week, he has came to your house twice, this time coming with a favor to ask.
...
"Hello, princess." Chan's voice greeted you as soon as you stepped into your dimly lit home. You remembered that you turned off your lights before going to work so the sight of the lights when you pulled up to your house in your beat up car caused dread to flood your system, stilling the movements of your body.
You could've driven away, chosen to postpone the inevitable, avoid Chan, but you knew the man would just chase after you. Whatever patient feelings he had toward you vanishing and leaving him with a bitter taste in his mouth and a finger on the trigger. You wanted to avoid trigger happy Bang.
You don't say anything for a few moments, just shrugging your bag off, your jacket following suit. As you moved, your brain restricted most of your body's motion, moving slowly during your tasks. You could sense the heat of the gang banger's gaze on your back, but you take your time trying to collect yourself, not wanting him to see you sweat. That decision could prove faulty if the intruder in your outside became impatient. Still, you slowed yourself as you took off the over-garment.
"What? You're not going to greet me?" He taunted in a raspy deep-tone. You caught rustling over your shoulder as he moved him his seat in your dining room. The chair scrapped across the hardwood of your floor as he shoved the seat into place. You cringed at the sound before tensing up against your command as he sauntered closer.
"And you said I'm the one who doesn't have manners." He goaded before a light scoff drawled from his mouth, his body coming to invade your space from behind. Your body locked immediately, your heart rattling away in your chest as he helped you escape the confines of your jacket. He handed the fabric with such care that the juxtaposition of that and him being a harden criminal you knew him to be was apparent. Rugged, scarred fingers grazed your arm, slowly, gently before stopping on your upper arms before dropping to his side. You straightened, back becoming stiff which only pressed you closer to Chan.
If Chan noticed your reaction he doesn't say anything, he just pulled away taking your jacket along with him and throwing it on top of your tiny dining table. It grazed the table top before falling uselessly to the floor.
You turned completely towards him, no more hiding yourself away.
"Minho," His voice was stern as he spoke to the man unknown to you. You hadn't even noticed him when you walked in. He turned to the other man standing in the corner, silently, his face a mask devoid of any emotions, his eyes black and soulless, "Go take a walk. I want to talk to princess alone for a second."
The man made a grunt of agreement, his dark eyes trailing over your frame as he walked pass you. He flashed you a quick smile, a bloodied and cunning one if you had to describe it. It's only true purpose was to draw out the fear within it's desired victim and it worked, dragging the dead corpse that was once your carefully hidden fear out for them both to see. You breathe caught in your throat and you have to fight to breath again.
The male closest to you leaned forward again, allowing his lips to press against the shell of your ear. You wanted to pull back knowing it was futile, but you tried anyways but Chan caged you in against a nearby counter with his face so close, his breath ghosting over your lips.
Chan had a naturally kind face, soft eyes that might've held the world if he wasn't burned by it and a gentle smile if he allowed himself to do so. The dimples of his cheeks sat there like the perfect imperfection they were. If you both were in a different situation, where you didn't owe him money and he wasn't willing to kill you to get it back, you might've been into his advances. Or, rather his close proximity.
You turned away, thinking your eyes lingered too long on the face of the home invader.
"Look at me." Chan ordered, one his hands coming to grasp at your jaw to force you to meet his eyes. His hands are rough as he forced you to look at him and you jostled in his touch. His eyes pierce yours as you're made to take him in. Twinges of anger swirl in his dark brown, almost black eyes in the night and you shivered at the reach it has on your body.
Even with your head positioned to look at him, your eyes bounced everywhere except for the man before you. Upon your avoidance of the man, you noticed the money stacked high over your table, the one with the fallen jacket beside it. The money that you stole. He had found it or what was left of it. You wouldn't expect anything less from someone who had broken into your house twice.
"Oh," He grinned, following your line of sight to catch a glimpse of the paper bills stacked neatly, "You see the money? You see I counted it, but it's a little short. Like a hundred grand short." Chan turned back to you, dropping his hand from your face and returning to cage you in, "Have you figured out how you're going to get my money back, princess?"
"I-I-" It's the first time you try to speak and you realize immediately how fucking dry your throat his. Chan's lips twitched slightly at your hesitance and offered a mockingly encouraging brow, "I'm t-taking extra shifts at work. I'll get you your money, I just need time."
"Something tells me it'll be a while before you get that hundred grand from your job." He remarked, pulling away from you and walking towards the dining table. He took in your dingy, broken down, one story home, a note of distaste in his eyes as he inspected the place. It was rugged, yes, but it was one of the only places you could afford that was decently away from major crime hot spots. Turns out that didn't matter because crime fucking showed up anyways.
The absence of his presence allowed you to breathe for a moment, before a glint of metal on Chan's hip caught your eyes.
"You know," Chan drawled quietly, taking his seat at the head of the table like he was the king of the world. He flicked his eyes in your direction as he reached for his hip, revealing a gun dipped in sterling silver and your heart dropped to your stomach, "I usually don't do house calls. I would normally leave that for to the others. Minho for example should've been the one to visit you and your partners maybe along with Hyunjin or Changbin, but when I heard it was a single person who stole half a million bucks from me, I just had to see the fucker who was confident enough - no stupid enough to steal from me."
"Imagine my surprise when I'm told a suburban rat with no priors was bold enough to take from me."
"I needed the money." It was all you can say. It's the truth, but it didn't mean jack shit to the man in front of you. Chan's face remained unimpressed, plump lips thinning into a line as he regarded you.
"Desperation is a funny thing, princess. It can be in response to many events. Heartbreak, finical standing, the need to succeed but the result is always the same. Selling yourself. Whether that be your mind, body or soul. Something has to be exchanged for your errors to right themselves." Chan took his eyes away from you for a moment, brown eyes dragging across the paper in front of him, "Now which one are you willing to sell?" His brow was peaked again, no longer taunting, just plain questioning. It still managed to raise a bit of stress within you.
You spluttered, lips closing and opening as you try to gauge his question with a heavy heart. Your eyebrows furrowed as you stare back at the man eyeing you.
"Y'know, some are lucky enough to end up dead from the their desperate attempts to salvage their lives. Others in prisons and a few manage to come out unscathed only to realizing the mirror will remind them of the scars of their past. But you?" He left out a harsh laugh, dark eyes shining, in the pale moonlight seeping in, embracing your shivering body, "You got the worst fate of all. You're indebted to me."
Chan moved to his feet, swiftly gathering himself and calling for Minho. He stepped forward and you take a step back. His lips curled into a pleasantly cunning smirk at your frighten features.
"There's a shipment coming in at the doc five, downtown. I need you to be there at eleven pm to pick it up and drop it off as this location." He pulled a card with his chicken scratch on it and slide it in front of your face, giving your eyes a break from staring at the hauntingly handsome man in front of you.
Chan shoved the card into your hand, impatient as you just stared at him in disbelief. He turned to leave.
He paused to call your name, "And Y/N?"
"Y-yes?"
"You die the moment you're late. Don't disappointment me , princess."

please feel free to skip, this is mostly just my rambling about my genshin impact plans for the week according to the calculator I'm using. the above images are screenshots showing the item icons and either a green checkmark or the number of how many more I need. if you're looking for a good genshin impact calculator, the Shiori app is really easy to use.
as far as sheer _stuff_ I need, I'm not doing badly, considering this is 18 characters and 4 weapons. I'm not triple crowning 15 of those characters, to be fair. this is calculated with most of the characters going to lv 8 or 9 on their skills, only 3 of them are going to lv 10. and then for the four weapons, I'm actually working on five, but the fifth one is just getting the last couple of levels (it's at 86 or so) and removing it made the calculator look better (even number = even rows).
my goal is to get all of the common items by the end of the week (except for the slime, that's an eternal work in progress, but I want to make a dent in it) and work on the Inazuma talent domain, Itto and Gorou's skill levels are Sad. so condense that resin because I'm very impatient, and do the talent domain twice and the mora leyline twice to work on that award (eight hundred flipping ley lines, are they nuts). at some point I also need to beat Signora up, but that's a pleasure rather than a chore.
since I'm out of mora and crystals, weapons will just have to wait, though they're high enough to be fairly useful. I'd prefer if Barbara's pink donut was higher, but it's good enough for this week. last week went super hard on weapons, so this week is just going to be a break from them.
the Mondstadt talent domain can wait, Albedo and Barbara's skills are both at 7/7/7, which is sufficiently effective for now and the others are for future use. the Liyue talent domain can definitely wait, I'm not actively using most of those characters, and the ones I am using are at a minimum of 7/7/7.
if anyone is curious, I can post the list of who I'm working on. it's mostly just topping them off on power levels rather than building up from scratch.
eta: didn't realize how huge the font was, made it small again. sorry!
#genshin impact#can't read more on mobile#i mean maybe you can but I definitely cannot#planning out my week
