interesting thing about daisy's 82 statement is that it says "six years ago calvin benchley became the first human being i murdered", when a couple minutes back he was being established as some kind of an avatar of the slaughter, so that's a very early instance of the podcast eschewing monster/human categories, interesting because this is happening right in the midst of jon's own existential crisis about what the job has done, and is doing to him (like, it IS altering his mind and body obviously, but the point was also that there's nothing more human than to be afraid and to choose to become something more to escape that fear). anyway so the statement is also a look into daisy's feelings, and we know she justifies the murders as righteous and necessary because she's targeting 'monsters', but that word choice would indicate that on some level she's not very. sure about that ("he was the first human i dealt with and he certainly wasn't the last"), i find that really interesting because it would mean she doesn't even attempt to justify it in her head, only to basira. which explains what elias specifically did to make her go after jon in 82—he purposefully renders her powerless, she's already given a statement before to jon under compulsion but the insidious thing about the compulsion is that it makes you feel willing because you're still seemingly, outwardly in charge of narrativising your trauma, but elias takes even that away from her, he's the one in charge of her story.

and it looks like a pointless show of domination, he's doing it because he can, but he's also telling her to go after jon because "there's no telling what he might be capable of" (and just ten minutes ago he was like ehhh doesn't have the stomach for murder i'm afraid), so what i think she's actually referring to in her 91 forest clearing scene is her experience with elias, that was abjectly humiliating in a way her "hard shoulder" statement to jon simply wasn't, but elias has also made her review and associate that memory of jon with his own, so when she goes after jon it's not because he's a monster, that's not really a priority, it's because he made her feel small.
