It's quite amazing how influential the donghua is when it comes to the fan-perception of certain characters' design.
#pre-donghua qr was almost always described with black hair and generally more feral-esque in fanfic#now most recent fics mention him using purple lipstick and green eyeshadow and i've seen more than one describe his hair as brown#funny because i don't think his manhua design was as impactful fandom-wise. both in fic and in fanart#even after his debut in the manhua people still predominantly used their own designs with maybe a little inspiration from there#which is funny because manhua!qr is much more in line with how the fandom perceived him for the longest time in comparison to the donghua#with the pointed ears. shark teeth. deathly pale skin and very long tongue#even after the donghua qr is still written with a lot of these elements but they're now incorporated with the donghua design#for all the mocking i saw before he debuted properly. the donghua version ended up making quite the impression huh#lw is another one. almost everyone now draws her as mostly blue instead of black like how she was described in the books#xl himself has black hair and is drawn as such in the manhua but the brown hair in the donghua is now stuck permanently in the fandom#tgcf#wolf rambles
