i cant believe fidelio isn’t a more popular fandom plot!

yeah it's sooooo good!!!! I wish ppl knew her 😢 imo it's not popular bc obv opera is pretty inaccessible for the younger crowd and also it's rly rarely performed because it's so technically difficult for the singers

#i think mar explained it to me once as beethoven is an excellent composer but unfortunately he wrote the vocal parts like they were violins #and he asks the singers to do things the human voice cannot do #ace txt #anyway everyone go listen to fidelio #even BETTER watch Leonard Bernstein's PBS special from opera for young audiences that he did on fidelio #he conducts some of the best bits AND explains the opera AND gives a great primer on how to listen to opera and feel it #idk i got interested in opera by virtue of *working* opera and i have NO music background #so hearing bernstein (beloved) talk about it was a game changer for me #answers #anon
