addendum I realized NeuviFuri’s design similarities never bothered me that much bc EstiYsayle was on the brain. dragon fucking and all that 👍

I gotta admit, for as much as I adore Neuvifuri’s writing and dynamic, I am not a fan of how their designs are so similar.

It’s not that I think they’re exactly the same or that they look like they’re related, it’s just that one of my favorite parts of shipping is seeing contrasting character designs paired up together. Like with Huxiao, not only are their aesthetics incredibly different but everything down to their color schemes contrast each other.

Then with Neuvifuri, they hit the exact same beats of predominantly white/pale hair with blue accents wearing a dark blue suit. Of course the details are different, but still I almost wish that they gave one of them a different hair color or a different outfit.

I think there’s multiple ways to see it, hoyo’s currently… honestly a bit lazy and messy designs could be a way to see it (I mean good lord are HSR’s designs lackluster in those departments)

or it could also be an intentionally matching thing. I heard some theories about which of the two have decided to wear matching suits and I’ve loved to hear about them. Was it Neuvillette who wanted to dress like Furina or was it Furina that decided they should dress accordingly to exhibit their status as the absolute authorities of Fontaine? like a king and a queen wearing similar purples and reds. OR it could also be nods to lore, with how Neuvillette’s design has very strong callbacks to bathysmal vishaps while Furina has callbacks to Oceanids, and Oceanids are based on Egeria who was created as a replacement for the Hydro Sovereign, so it’s almost like Furina’s design is meant to parallel Neuvi’s as a copy, but this one feels a bit reach-y

I personally found my tastes tend to skew towards whatever ship I’m hyperfixating on, like before huxiao I was like “I MUST have height difference! height difference is the thing ever!!!” but then I got super into huxiao and was like. well size isn’t everything… then after I got super into huxiao I was like “I MUST have opposites attract in all parts of their character! contrast is the thing ever!!!” now look where I am with neuvifuri… but lmfao I do wish they had more differentiations with their designs in at least the hair color. I know Neuvi’s is a grayish color with no hue while Furina has her very light blues but it’s not enough to stand out. So I guess u could say I’m not a fan either but I also don’t think it’s enough to diminish my enjoyment of them too

Fingers floated along his skin, the woman having halted him during his typical routine to drag her digits against his flesh. He had arisen far too early for her liking, Estinien already out of bed and upon the floor in his small clothes, pumping his arms against the stone with the morning workout he hardly needed to keep in shape. What with his abilities and jumping from spire to spire, none could ever think the man lazy, and one dawn could be afforded to her alone.

Dragging herself out of the bed, Ysayle had encroached upon him, her frame coming to lay upon his own, but that did not cease his movement initially until her mouth was upon his ear and she had managed to quell him with the nibbles. His descent to the floor had nearly been unexpected but her hands were eager to wrap around him, crossing the path of the jagged skin.

Her gaze softened upon him, her face plunging against his neck as lips brushed into the crevasse. “You’re akin to the mountains.” Her voice vibrated against his throat, feeling more of the scars rather than looking upon them. Lines that spread out from pinpoints where he had taken many blows, to the silvery stretched skin to accommodate a draconic influence.

“History written, but their peaks survive and shelter from the wind, keeping ice at bay.” Teeth grazed against him, Ysayle’s lips tugging into a grin as she began to move up his neck and along his jaw, only to find his lips. “At least this Iceheart is yours to keep warm.” She murmured, lifting her hand from his marks to brush through the silver locks, keeping them out of his face.

“Come back to bed, and you can still have your workout.”
