Do you think part of the reason Vanitas wants to help cursebearers is because losing himself is his own greatest fear so he can't stand the sight of it happening to others? Even though helping them is what will inevitably cause him to lose himself? And it's like being trapped in the lab all over again, where he could escape, but doesn't because it would mean someone else suffers in place of him?
