So, after 4 years it looks like I'm starting to make inroads to sorting my health issues. Finally had my MRI results back (hospital lost them duh). Looks like I have a nerve root impingement in my neck which could explain a lot of my problems. Next step may be surgery but that is some way off yet. Local skaters were asked to describe what they felt as they performed a trick: "…when I'm mid-air, I feel a bit like a firework; like I'm a bright, flying spark of light that just escaped into the atmosphere." This work attempts to capture this sensation.

Life Update

Well, Spring is round the cormer and I’m as unprepared for the summer ahead as I always am (so no change there then). To recap - or inform those that don’t know - I have been pretty limited by my health the past couple of years after having a seizure which managed to screw a few things for me. It’s really messed things up for me the past couple of years. The main issue at the moment is the neurological issues I’m suffering from (hearing and seeing) but also some added physical issues (obstructive sleep apneoa for one). I’m about to go into hospital. This may or may not sort things out for me. I’m having several teeth out. My thyroid is killing me at the moment. My metabolism is all over the place at the moment, my hair is falling out and my teeth are rotting from the inside out. Hopefully taking the teeth out will mean my poorly damaged face muscles and the neurological issues I’m facing can resolve themselves. I’m not so worried about losing the teeth but am worried about having a general anasthetic as (I’ve been told) it is pretty risky when I have breathing issues. I have to go to hospital this week for a pre-assessment so we’ll see how that goes. Even though I’m a bag of nerves at the mo I’m trying to focus on the future and that future at the moment is basically focused on cycling, eSkate, beatmaking and a little bit of photography when I can fit it in. I have been thinking about getting into bike racing again but it’s just a pipedream at the mo. I’m very unfit at the moment and we’ll have to see where things go. I’m trying hard to not be defeated at the mo but it is difficult. I have to keep telling myself “eyes on the prize”. If I get through this whole thing it will be my greatest win...
