The Long Island Serial Killer (Long Island Ripper) or LISK:
The case of The Long Island serial killer is as grim as it is horrifying. This unidentified serial killer was believed to have killed 10 to 16 people over a period of nearly 20 years. With his victims mostly prostitutes, he left their bodies in areas on the South Shore of Long Island, New York. He has also been recognized by the grim nickname THE LONG ISLAND RIPPER.
• • •
Timeline of Events:
**Due to a variety of scattered human remains found at various crime sites, a condensed and categorized list of identified, unidentified, and possible victims, as well as their last known location, will be mentioned. Identified bodies will be featured alongside bullet points (•). Unidentified who have succumb to the hands of the killer will be listed alongside an asterisk (*). Possible victims who are identified/unidentified but might be similar with the identical motif of the LISK will be paired alongside a dash (-) and question mark (?).
• December 2010:
Of the ten bodies or sets of remains found since late 2010, the four discovered in December 2010 have been identified as missing prostitutes who all advertised their services on Craigslist. It has been theorized by a former investigator on the case that the killer shopped for look-a-like victims through Craigslist ads. Each had been strangled and her body wrapped in a burlap sack before being dumped along Gilgo Beach. All are believed to have been killed elsewhere.
• 1. Maureen Brainard-Barnes (25) of Norwich, Connecticut was an escort who advertised her services online. She was last seen on July 9th, 2007, saying that she planned "to spend the day in New York City." She was never seen Shortly after her disappearance, a friend of Maureen's, Sara Karnes, received a call from a man on an unfamiliar number. The man claimed that he had just seen Maureen and that she was alive and staying at a “whorehouse in Queens”. He refused to identify himself and could not tell Karnes the location of the house. He told Karnes he would call back and give her the address, but never called again. Karnes said that the man had no discernible New York or Boston accent. Her body was found in December 2010.
• 2. Melissa Barthélemy (24) of Erie County, New York, went missing on July 10th, 2009. She had been living in the Bronx and working as an escort through Craigslist. On the night she went missing, she met with a client, deposited $900 in her bank account, and attempted to call an old boyfriend, but did not get through. Beginning one week later, and lasting for five weeks, her teenage sister, Amanda, received a series of "vulgar, mocking and insulting" calls from a man, who may have been the killer using Melissa's cell phone. The caller asked if Amanda "was a whore like her sister." The calls became increasingly disturbing, and eventually culminated in the caller telling Amanda that Melissa was dead, and that he was going to "watch her rot." Police traced some of the calls to Madison Square Garden, midtown Manhattan, and Massapequa, but were unable to determine who was making the calls. Melissa's mother noted that there were "a lot of calls to Manorville" from Melissa's phone around the time of her disappearance.
• 3. Megan Waterman (22) of South Portland, Maine, went missing on June 6th, 2010, after placing advertisements on Craigslist as an escort. The day before, she had told her 20-year-old boyfriend that she was going out and would call him later. At the time of her disappearance, she was staying at a motel in Hauppauge, New York, 15 miles northeast of Gilgo Beach. Her body was recovered in December 2010.
• 4. Amber Lynn Costello (27) of North Babylon, New York, a town ten miles north of Gilgo Beach, was a prostitute and heroin user who went missing on September 2nd, 2010. That night she reportedly went to meet a stranger who had called her several times and offered $1,500 for her services. Body was found in December 2010.
• March 2011:
The four additional sets of remains discovered on March 29th and April 4th were all within two miles and to the east of those found in December. They included two identified women an unidentified man, and a toddler. A skull and a partial set of remains were found on April 11th after the search expanded into Nassau County. They were found about one mile apart, approximately five miles west of those found in December.
• 5. Jessica Taylor (20) who resided in Manhattan, went missing in July 2003. On July 26th, 2003, her naked and dismembered torso, missing its head and hands, was discovered 45 miles east of Gilgo Beach in Manorville, New York; these remains were identified by DNA analysis later that year. Taylor's torso was found atop a pile of scrap wood at the end of a paved access road off of Halsey Manor Road, just north of where it crosses the Long Island Expressway. Plastic sheeting was found underneath the torso, and a tattoo on her body had been mutilated with a sharp instrument. On May 9th, 2011, it was reported that the remains of a skull, a pair of hands, and a forearm found on March 29 at Gilgo were matched to Taylor. She had worked in Washington, D.C., and Manhattan as a prostitute. Her body was found March 29th.
April 2011:
• 6. Valerie Mack (24) of Philadelphia, was previously dubbed "Jane Doe No. 6". A human head, right foot, and hands, found on April 4th, 2011, were determined to have belonged to an unidentified victim. The rest of her body was found on November 19th, 2000, in the same part of Manorville where most of Jessica Taylor's remains were later discovered. The victim's torso was found wrapped in garbage bags and dumped in the woods near the intersection of Halsey Manor Rd and Mill Rd, adjacent to a set of power lines and a nearby power line access road. Her right foot had been cut off high above the ankle, possibly to conceal an identifying mark or tattoo. The dismembered remains of Jessica Taylor and "Jane Doe No. 6" were both disposed of in a similar manner and in the same town, suggesting a link. In September 2011, police released a composite sketch of "Jane Doe No. 6", saying she was about 5' 2" and was between 18 and 35-years old. On May 22nd, 2020, Suffolk County Police announced that they had positively identified and on May 28th, 2020 it was announced that the remains had been identified as Mack, who had last been seen by family in Spring or Summer of 2000 in the area of Port Republic, New Jersey. Mack had also gone by the name Melissa Taylor, and had worked as an escort in Philadelphia.
* April 2011 (cont.) w/ Unidentified Victims:
* 7. "John Doe" (17)/(23) was also discovered on April 4th, 2011 at Gilgo Beach, very close to where the first four were discovered in December 2010, was the body of what appeared to be a young Asian male who died from blunt-force trauma. In September 2011, police released a composite sketch of the victim. They stated that he had likely been working as a prostitute and was wearing women's clothing at the time of his death. He was missing four teeth and had been dead for or between 5 and 10 years. He is believed to have lived as a woman, perhaps being killed when the killer found out he was not a woman, and to have had some kind of musculoskeletal disorder which would have affected his gait.
* 8. "Baby Doe" was the third body found on April 4th, 2011, about 250 feet away from the partial remains of "Jane Doe No. 6,". The remains were that of a female toddler between 16 and 24 months of age and had already decayed into a skeletal form. The body was wrapped in a blanket and showed no visible signs of trauma. DNA tests determined that the child's mother was "Jane Doe No. 3", whose body was found 10 miles east, near Jones Beach State Park, just days after this discovery. The toddler was reported to be African-American and was wearing gold earrings and a gold necklace.
* 9. "Peaches/Jane Doe No. 3" was discovered on June 28th, 1997. The dismembered torso of an unidentified young African-American female was found at Hempstead Lake State Park, in the town of Lakeview, New York. The torso was found in a green plastic Rubbermaid container, which was dumped next to a road along the west side of the lake. Investigators reported that the victim had a tattoo of a heart-shaped peach with a bite out of it and two drips falling from its core on her left breast. On April 11th, 2011, police in Nassau County discovered dismembered skeletal human remains inside a plastic bag near Jones Beach State Park, nicknamed "Jane Doe No. 3". DNA analysis identified this victim as the Mother of "Baby Doe"; she wearing gold jewelry similar to that of her daughter. In December 2016, Peaches and Jane Doe No. 3 were positively identified as being the same person.
-? Victims Unofficially Involved in LISK murders.
*The person(s) involved have not been officially linked with the other LISK murders, and are still being reviewed by police.
-? Tina Foglia (19) was last seen in the early morning hours of February 1st, 1982 at a rock music venue in West Islip. She was a known hitchhiker. Her dismembered body was discovered by Department of Transportation workers on February 3rd, 1982 along the shoulder of the Southern State Parkway. Her remains were placed in three separate plastic garbage bags, and were found a few miles north of the Robert Moses Causeway, which leads to Gilgo Beach and Oak Beach. A diamond ring that Foglia was known to wear was missing, and the DNA of an unknown male was found on the garbage bags. Police have not ruled out the possibility that Tina Foglia was an early victim of the Long Island Serial Killer.
-? A suitcase containing the dismembered torso of an unidentified Hispanic or light-skinned African-American female washed up on a beach at Harbor Island Park, in the town of Mamaroneck on March 3rd, 2007. The victim had a tattoo of two cherries on her left breast, similar in appearance to the tattoo found on Peaches. The former was determined to have been stabbed to death. Never identified, the victim is referred to as "Cherries" by investigators. One of her dismembered legs washed up at Cold Spring Harbor on March 21st, 2007, and the other at Oyster Bay in the village of Cove Neck the following day. "Cherries" was dismembered in a fashion similar to three other victims (Jessica Taylor, Valerie Mack, and "Peaches") meaning she may be linked to the other official victims.
-? On May 17th, 2011, the New York Post reported that Long Island police were revisiting other similar unsolved murders of prostitutes. Named in the article was Tanya Rush (39) a mother of three from Brooklyn whose dismembered body was found in a small suitcase in June 2008 on the shoulder of the Southern State Parkwa zzzy in Bellmore, New York.
-? Shannan Maria Gilbert (24) was an escort who may have been a victim of the Long Island serial killer. She left for a client's residence in Oak Beach after midnight on May 1st, 2010. At 4:51a.m. May 2nd, 911 dispatchers received a panicked phone call from Gilbert who can be heard saying that there was someone "after her" and that "they" were trying to kill her. She was last seen a short time later banging on the front door of a nearby Oak Beach residence and screaming for help before running off into the night. After nineteen months of searching, police found Gilbert's remains in a marsh, half a mile from where she was last seen. In May 2012, the Suffolk County medical examiners ruled that Gilbert accidentally drowned after entering the marsh. They believe that she was in a drug induced panic, and have concluded that cause was "death by misadventure" or "inconclusive." Her family believes she was murdered. On November 15, 2012 a lawsuit was filed by her mother, Mari Gilbert, against the Suffolk County Police Department in the hopes of getting more answers about what happened to her daughter the night she went missing. Famous Forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Baden agreed to conduct an independent autopsy of Gilbert's remains in hopes of determining a clear cause of death. Upon examination of Gilbert's remains, Baden found damage to her hyoid bone, suggesting that strangulation may have occurred. Baden also noted that her body was found face-up, which is not common for drowning victims. Despite this, her death is still officially listed by police as an accident.
-? On January 23, 2013, a woman walking her dog found human remains intentionally buried in a small piece of brush in a sandy area along the shore at the end of Sheep Lane in Lattingtown, near Oyster Bay. The remains are believed to be of a woman between the ages of 20 and 30, possibly Asian. She was wearing a 22-karat gold pig pendant, which may be a reference in some Asian cultures to "The Year of the Pig." This leads some to believe she died at the age of 29. There was trauma caused to her bones; investigators believe she was buried before Hurricane Sandy in late 2012. Her case may be connected to the other 10 bodies found 32 miles away in and around Gilgo Beach.
-? On March 16, 2013, Natasha Jugo (31) was last seen leaving her home near Alley Pond Park, Queens. Her car was found along Ocean Parkway and some of her clothes and belongings were found in the sand near Gilgo Beach the following day. Jugo was described as 5'7, 120lbs with brown eyes and blonde hair. She was last seen wearing a black robe, pink pajamas, gray hooded sweatshirt, black coat, and black boots. Police are unsure whether the case is connected to the LISK victims. Jugo's family said that she had "a history of problems in which she thought people were following her." On June 24, 2013, Jugo's body was washed up on Gilgo Beach.

(1) Fuyumi becoming a teacher to compensate for her failure to protect Shouto, staying home with their abusive/neglectful father to look after her youngest brother, and telling Natsuo to leave their family matters to her so that he could be free to pursue his own dreams—That’s only revealed within the bonus materials, not within the story itself.
Under the cut for length & subject matter:
(2) I still have trouble reconciling the Fuyumi described in the bonus materials and the Fuyumi portrayed in the manga. With the few scenes he gives her, Horikoshi fails to depict her as empathetic and mature. After Natsuo rightfully tells off Endeavor, Fuyumi shakes Shouto while crying like a child. She doesnt recognize the moment as one of catharsis for Natsuo. Shouto does, which makes her failure to do so even more glaring.
(3) In fact, whenever Natsuo mentions their family circumstances, Fuyumi either tries to suppress or invalidate what he’s saying, which brings to mind real-life people who silence and discredit abuse victims. Since we know so little about her, it’s easy to either romanticize her as a self-sacrificing big sister who took on enormous responsibility at a tender age, or demonize her as a selfish abuse apologist who dismisses her brother’s feelings.
(4) Horikoshi doesn’t show flashbacks of twelve-year old Fuyumi trying to fill the void left by her hospitalized mother. Instead, we see Fuyumi in the present day giving Shouto’s contact/social media account information to his abuser without his consent, which is inexcusable and can be dangerous in real life. It’s strange that someone who strives to protect children would do something so irresponsible.
(5) That’s why Fuyumi should be denied custody of Shouto if Endeavor ever faces legal consequences. Maybe UA (Dad Might and Aizawa) could take him in, since Natsuo’s in college, Touya/Dabi’s a criminal, and Rei’s in the hospital. Shouto would be 18 by the time he graduates anyway. Plus, Shouto would get to become the adopted sibling of Shinsou, Eri, and “All Might’s secret love child.”
(6) The desire for a stable, loving family is natural and completely valid. Having that should be every child’s right. Endeavor is despicable for taking that away from Fuyumi, Natsuo, Shouto, Touya, and Rei. But if Fuyumi continues trying to force her desire to stand on an illusion, then she’ll never get anything real. Plus, reconciliation would only mean something if the injured persons were independent from the one who did them harm.
(7) Fuyumi doesn’t have her own apartment. During her first appearance, she gets nervous when Shouto visits their mother without telling their father. Shouto keeps going back to Endeavor for instruction even when he received an internship offer from Hawks (the then #3 hero). Because they’re not independent, it looks less like they’re giving Endeavor a chance, and more like they don’t know how to break free from their abuser.
(8) A volunteer from a domestic violence shelter visited my school and said that gift-giving is a common tactic for abusers who want to convince their victims to stay with them. Abusers may apologize, promise to never hurt you again, and even get counseling only to abuse again, sometimes with deadly results.
(9) Rei emphasizing the flower makes me wonder if Enji had used gifts before to dissuade her from leaving him. Rei may be teaching her daughter to stay in an unhealthy relationship under the misguided hope that their abuser will change, that things will get better. I’m worried Fuyumi may get caught in an abusive relationship herself in the future like her mother.
(10) I remember you wrote in a post that Fuyumi would lose her job if her relation to a villain ever gets revealed. I agree. Though it would devastate her, I think that moment would be instrumental to her character development. I imagine Endeavor reassuring her that he will financially support her, completely missing the fact that she became a teacher to make up for her inability to protect Shouto from him in the past.
(11) Seeing Endeavor fail to understand what teaching meant to her, Fuyumi would confront a truth she has always known: Her father doesn’t know her at all. Is he even interested in getting to know her? Should she have to try this hard for his love, when her students received it so freely from their parents? He likely doesn’t even see her as her own person. Just an extension of himself.
(12) Then when Shouto opens his new hero agency, he will hire Fuyumi as a secretary. His sister will pour herself into her new job and become the most hyper-competent hero secretary ever. She may not have been able to protect her brother in the past, but now she can directly help him move forward.
Well, any posts I wrote like that were speculation! Not based on the manga. It’d be interesting to see Fuyumi get more development, but we’ll see. She doesn’t seem to be a very fleshed out character imo. You should write a fanfic if you like thinking about this!
And yeah, I have issues with Fuyumi’s framing, which seems to be very confusing. She’s seen as a good sibling and I beleive she is, but the things she does are textbook no-nos and. Yeah. I honestly think Horikoshi is trying to display abuse in a responsible way (ch 192 shows that) but is learning as he goes, which perhaps is not the best idea and is the reason sometimes it comes across like #yikes

Vera could feel they were at least one step closer to the truth, perhaps they were still missing lots of pieces to complete the complex puzzle that was the murder of the math teacher, but at least they were one step closer. And that step was made towards a room full of Pokémon posters, various instruments and different bunk beds covering the walls, a chamber smelling of dirty socks, cheese (??) with a hint of different perfumes (the writer hopes no one gets near such a tremendous smell in real life) and the duo couldn’t help but wonder what the hell happened in the actually quite small room those younglings were used to live in.
When Vera opened the door the next day, revealing the nauseous smell and possibly a rat that soon disappeared, but it was so big it could’ve been one of the kids for all she knew, a spiky blonde head looked at her confused, his pale face almost completely hid by a huge blue scarf as his big icy eyes stared down at the journalist.
“Hello there,” she started, well knowing she wasn’t that popular among younger audiences, “my name is Vera and I’m the school journalist, and this is my assistant, Dàvid.” She showed her partner, but quickly frowned when she noticed the guy smelling the room without even entering and rambling something about having tasted a similar cheese before. “We’re here to speak with Jing and Terek, are they here?”.
“What do you want from my friends?” the short kid furrowed his brow, assuming a protective stance in front of the door. “Are you here to fight them? YOU WILL HAVE TO PASS ON MY DEAD BODY-”
“Can you please stop pretending everyone wants to fight you?” a brown headed boy pops up near the blonde one, hitting him with a pillow that easily knocks him down. “You’re not strong enough to protect us!”
“But-” the blonde guy cries, raising his head up dramatically towards the other one, his hand reaching out to him as if he was slowly dying, “I gave everything, my pride, my honor, to protect you, how could you do this to me?!”.
“I did what I had to” the brown-haired kid raised his gaze to no point in particular, acting even more dramatically than his friend, “I know you want to protect me, but I have to do the same with you, or else you-” he frowned, a hand on his mouth for fake crying, “you might-”.
“Why are you guys having a play right in front of the door?” a third guy came out behind the two, looking confused. “Did one of you get in trouble again so you’re building this act to make them believe you’re crazy so they’ll let you go? Cause I don’t think that’s gonna work for the fourth time…”.
“Not if you reveal our plan!” the brown haired guy looked at him with disappointment, sighing as he turned to face the red haired girl just as she remembers why she doesn’t like to roam around those hallways. “What do you want?”.
“I’m looking for Jing and Terek?” she quickly asked, her question welcomed with a surprised gaze by the three, as the angry kid pointed at himself and the guy behind him mouthing a “us?”. “Oh, it’s you, perfect! What were you doing the night of the murder?!” she stepped a bit closer, her eyes widened and fixed on the pair.
“Partying?” Terek answered confused. “It was a party after all, although it ended in murder!” the last word was spoken with a dramatic touch that Vera liked, but ignored for health reasons, as Dàvid was starting to ramble about seeing weird stuff, having inhaled too much of the characteristic scent.
“Besides that,” she pointed out, crossing her arms and standing still, “you guys were accused of having a fight the night of the party, for which you chased each other-”.
“I remember!” Jing exclaimed, furrowing his brow as his gaze shifted from Vera to Terek, “He was being a dumbass as always and wanted me to be the victim to another one of his stupid pranks!”.
“Stupid?” the other looked shocked and hurt, “They’re works of art, you wouldn’t understand. And either way,” he turned again to the red-haired girl, “we won’t be answering other questions without our lawyers!”.
“You guys are what, 5? 6? You can’t afford a lawyer!” the girl pointed out, as the kid smirked.“What if we do? Our lawyers are in that room,” he gestured a nearby door, and concluded with a “you should talk with them first!” before closing the door so violently it startled Dàvid, who slowly came up to his senses. “What now?” he looked at his partner, who stood silent as she firmly walked towards the new door, wondering what could be worse than that… She’d soon find out that there’s never an end to how bad it can get.

★ x 3 for all Beth The Ghost characters!
that's a lot of characters holy fuq hope u know what u unleashed hereBeth:-beth can't gain weight since she's a ghost so she is pretty much eating chocolate all the time. probs gets mad when Johnny is even about to THINK about asking for some-the way she died has changed and has yet to be rewritten (still suicide but different, more realistic means of completion since I never felt shooting herself was practical when thinking her household)-she can turn into a literal beast made of shadows, she's just never reached a breaking point or skill level to achieve such, and her emotions are more tied to her ice first, telekinesis second, and shadows third, meaning she would have to be extremely worked up to become said beastAlex:-he can do the wonder woman gauntlet stance to summon his shield/force field (and he gets very excited when he does, he loves wonder woman)-he has a permanent anxiety being inside of cars because of his death-he can essentially get rid of whatever "bones" (since he doesn't actually have any) are in his neck because it broke when he died. In theory, he can do whatever he wants with his head to the same level as Thomas, and even turn his head all the way around, he just chooses not to since he doesn't like thinking about his deathMabuz:-his first war he fought in was when he was fourteen-as proud as he acts about war, he can still have moments of disassociation at seemingly random. He always pulls himself in privacy when this happens, thus nobody knows that happens to him-Mabuz had Esther at twenty and was 44 when he died. The reason he looks older is because of the accelerated aging that was part of the disease from his demon deal that killed himEsther:-she knows of her dad's post war trauma and is the only one who does. She treats it very well-Esther died at 24-Esther was engaged once before her death, that ended when her fiancé was killed in warMerhib:-he knew he had a sister even before he made his demon deal and met her-he painted his nails black once when dating Neva (she said it was cool and they were matching)-Neva is the only person Merhib has ever had sex withNeva:-she's done weed-her grandparents are dead at this point-before beth was born, in another break down of hers, she cut her hair short. Any pictures of her in her last trimester/when beth was born have her with said short hairAlice:-she doesn't remember Merhib due to how young she was when he met her-her favorite kind of weather is when it's nice out with just a chill/breeze and is cloudy-her, Merhib, and beth are all chocolaholics and it's probably the only thing they could ever bond on in canonDiscord:-discord is not one entity--they both consumed their sister Eris and can divide themself into personifications of the seven deadly sins or the four horsemen of the apocalypse-they believe dogs have souls but would never dare take them. they aren't that heartless. dogs can live in peace-discord's deal with Mabuz was only one, but their deal with Merhib was actually two: a sort of "free trial" as they called it and then the final dealVirginica:-she's the one Merhib was also interested in when he was in a sort of relationship with Mabuz. None of the three claim it was official but this adds fuel to Mabuz and Virginica's rivalry-she loves her size. body positivity all around-she taught her son that people of all gender are equal, but if that stuck or not is up to AquiloAquilo:-he doesn't have a belly button since he was falsely created-he's got no dad issues. he's got a mom who spoils him rotten and gives him anything so he sees no point in a dad-he constantly refers to beth as a daddy's girl (and beth calls him a mama's boy in return)Heather:-she doesn't hit people (or at least didn't when she was alive) but she has no problem making others fight for her-she once stole and tore Beth's sketchbook and threw it in mud-she was genuinely stunned when beth killed herself, at least for a day or two. She played a victim in her death and faked tears and talked how close they used to be, but in reality she moved on quickly from the death and alex was the only one who knew she was lying for attentionCirce:-friends with discord-borders on good or bad, just tell her what you want and she'll tell you her price. If you can pay it, she'll go either way-she used to be friends with ErisCarrie:-her light magic is harmful to full demons-she's proficient in sports, if only she could stand getting dirty from them and she'd be even better-she's self conscious about her glasses/contacts and often refuses to wear eitherMelody:-her favorite instrument is guitar, like her dad-she can play piano incredibly fast and can sometimes play without even once looking at the keys-she loves pizzasShaun:-he has a giant pet Cerberus-he plays video games with uncle Johnny all the time-he's made blueprints to build his own bike like Johnny's, but beth tells him no all the time (she thinks it's too dangerous and he mainly asks for it when he's way too young anyway like. 12)

- Lecturer impregnated me, rejects pregnancy, says nursing student - It wasn’t me, I used condom – Lecturer As the act of shame continues between Lecturers and students in the Universities, a lecturer at the Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese Ijebu, Dr Oluseyi Adu, and a Dental Nursing student, Mosunmola, are embroiled in a row over who is responsible for the pregnancy that the nursing student is carrying. Mosunmola, who is nine months pregnant, alleged that Adu was responsible for the child in her womb, adding that they had sex in a hotel sometime in August, 2016. She said the lecturer beat her up last month when she confronted him at the college for avoiding her, adding that the case was already at the Ilese Police Station. However, while Adu admitted to having sex with the 28-year-old, he insisted that he used contraceptive, saying the lady seduced him and he gave in to the temptation. Mosunmola told our correspondent that she underwent a three-year course at the college, adding that several lecturers had asked her out before Adu, but she refused. She said, “Dr Adu is the Oral Health Coordinator for the college. During my three years study, he taught me two courses each semester. I have never failed his course. “When I got to second semester, 300 level, he awarded me 38 in one of his courses. I went to his office in August 2016 to know why I failed the course. I needed to pass all my courses to be able to go for my board exam. “He asked me if I thought I could just come to the school and go like that. He said if I dated him, he would waive the course. He said he didn’t approach me in 100 level because another lecturer was interested in dating me. “The lecturer he mentioned told me in 100 level that it was either I paid him money or used my body to pass his course. Because I didn’t agree, I failed his course. I didn’t pass it until I got to 300 level. “I told Adu that I would date him, but I didn’t want to have any problem, and he assured me that there would be no regret.” The victim said the lecturer took her to the office of the Head of Department and after some discussions, it was agreed that she could sit for the board exam. After the board exam at POGIL College of Health Technology, Oke-Eri, Ijebu Ode, on August 21, Adu, who was among those on the panel, was said to have given Mosunmola some of his practical instruments and a laptop for safekeeping. However, Mosunmola said when the school bus arrived to take the students back to the school, she forgot to give the practical instruments back to the lecturer. She said Adu later called and asked her to bring the instruments to a hotel where he lodged. “I was preparing to leave when he called me back that I would be sleeping over with him. “I met him with another lecturer in my department. I observed that the lecturer also had a female student with him. From the hotel, we went to different places before we finally lodged in another hotel along Ilese Road. While I was with Adu in a room, my other classmate passed the night with the second lecturer in another room. “We had three rounds of sex. He didn’t release on time. He used two condoms for the first two rounds. The third round was, however, flesh-to-flesh. That was when he ejaculated inside me,” she explained. She said the lecturer dropped her off at home and they continued their relationship, until she stopped seeing her menstruation a few weeks later. The Ogun State indigene said she became worried after she started vomiting, adding that she took a pregnancy test, which was positive. She said when Adu heard the news, he reluctantly accepted responsibility, but allegedly gave her a drug, Eprostol, to abort the pregnancy. She said, “I refused to take the drug because the prescription was not from a medical doctor. He came down to my place to persuade me to take the drug, but I still refused. He asked me what I wanted and I told him that I needed to change my accommodation because the pregnancy was a shameful thing for me. He told me not to worry, that he would handle it. After that, we had sex. “When he left that day, I could not find my phone again. By the time I got another phone and called him, he started acting funny. Sometime, he would just laugh at me.” PUNCH Metro learnt that several people had attempted to mediate in the situation without any success. Mosunmola said attempts by Adu’s HOD, dean, and provost to mediate were rebuffed by the lecturer. The victim said she later approached the Human Rights Office of the Ogun State Ministry of Justice at Ijebu-Ode, where a lawyer, one Kolade, called the parties for a meeting. Adu was reported to have agreed to pay N5,000 feeding allowance per month, in addition to paying N7,000 for ante-natal registration. After paying the allowance for two months, Adu reportedly stopped. The parties reportedly held another meeting in March at the human rights office to review the agreement. Conflict was said to have broken out among the parties when Mosunmola presented a list of things required for her delivery, which she valued at N50,000. Adu was said to have insisted on paying N30,000, which the 28-year-old refused. “I didn’t have any accommodation and I couldn’t buy any of the drugs the doctors prescribed for me. I told him I would only manage the N50,000. He left in annoyance. “Since March, the lawyer didn’t call us back and Adu refused to pay the N5,000 he used to give me every month. I called the lawyer late March and asked him to help me get the N30,000, but the lawyer said I should not call him again,” she said. After reporting the lecturer to the Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Health, where Adu also worked, without any result, Mosunmola said she became desperate and went to the college on April 13 when she knew Adu would be taking a class. She said while pleading with him for money for her medical expenses, the lecturer assaulted her. She said some people intervened and she reported a case of assault to the police at the Ilese division, Ijebu Ode. “I am now in my 38 weeks and anytime soon, I will have my child. I am an orphan and I don’t have any of my baby items ready. I am begging Nigerians to come to my rescue. I know I have made a mistake, but I need a second chance at life. I don’t have anywhere to go. It is a church that is accommodating me now,” she said. When our correspondent reached out to Adu to appeal to him to raise the N50,000 for the baby things, he said he had no money and would not borrow because Mosunmola had turned him to a “cash cow.” He said he had already informed his wife about the incident, adding that there was nothing that could surprise him again as he had lost his credibility over the incident. Adu said, “She was one of my students; but on a personal level, I never knew her until after they released her final results and she failed some courses, including mine. “Her HOD asked her to come and ask me if I could waive the course for her. She called me on the phone and came to see me in the office. That was my first contact with this lady. When she made her request, I met her HOD who said I should assist her. He said even if I did, she might not sit for the board exam because of the other courses she failed. So, I passed her. “When they sat for the board exam, I was surprised to see her and I asked her HOD why she wrote the exam when she had other courses she failed. He said people begged for her. “After the board exam, she came to thank me for the assistance and she asked to carry my bag and the instruments I used to conduct the exam. By the time she was leaving, I collected my bag from her, but I forgot my instruments with her. “That day, I went to hang out with my friend at the pool of a hotel where we lodged. Suddenly, I remembered my instruments and I called her to keep them well. But she said she could come to where I was and she came. After dropping the instruments, she didn’t leave as I expected and I decided not to bother her. “We were together at the hotel till evening. One thing led to the other. My brother, she slept in my room that night and we had (sexual) intercourse. This was a girl I never dated or had any relationship with.” He said by weekend, Mosunmola called him that she was pregnant, adding that she later said she was only joking about it and wanted to see his reaction. Adu said the call made him to stop communicating with Mosunmola and he did not respond anytime she called, until she sent him a text message saying the pregnancy had become real. He said, “I decided to travel down to Ijebu to see her. She brought out the test result and said I was responsible. I told her I used a condom and she couldn’t tell me that my condom burst. She said if I was afraid because I was married, I should not bother because the pregnancy actually belonged to her boyfriend and she merely wanted to see my reaction. I warned her and left. “The next time she called me, she said how would she take my pregnancy to her boyfriend, and that I should take responsibility for it. She said she would abort the pregnancy if I wanted her to, but I must rent a house for her in Ijebu Ode and then she described the kind of house she wanted. “When I heard that, I told her to do her worst, because it was obvious to me that she just wanted to blackmail me. She had been going round different places, telling people that I impregnated her. The question I ask is, did I rape her? Did I hypnotise her? You came to meet me where I was and we had fun, and now you are pregnant, and you are telling me I am responsible for a pregnancy I am denying?” He said before Mosunmola could reach his wife, he quickly reported himself to her and begged for her forgiveness. The medical practitioner said he reluctantly agreed to pay the N5,000 after much persuasion by the human rights lawyer, adding that he regretted the agreement because Mosunmola used it to make more demands on him. “When she brought the list for the baby things, I asked her, ‘Why are you making me as if I am the father of your baby? Am I your husband? “She suddenly flared up and said I should even go away that she didn’t want anything from me again. She cursed me and after that encounter, I decided to stop giving her anything,” he added. He said Mosunmola came to attack him during the lecture. He said she was about stripping him naked when he forcefully detached himself from her. Adu explained that the case of assault against him at the Ilese division had been thrown out after he told the police the student was the aggressor. “People impregnate people and nothing happens. Why is she treating me as if I had done something criminal? Continue reading from Punchng
