yeah alright i’m a bit into the matilda musical and if i weren’t watching it with the ward i one hundo p would’ve turned it off and turned on the OG non-musical movie. it’s a fine film! i just feel fairly resolute that the story isn’t a musical FOR ME. it is my opinion that the original film is perfect in every way and i am way too biased and close to the source material given my status as the neighborhood’s four-year-old who’d roll around books he was reading in a wagon to be objective

check it out! but go in expecting something completely different.

#the fact that lavender was very prominently black in the adaptation that lives in the general public's mind and they stuck with casting a #white girl in the role because ?????#is really shitty and i dislike it #and i don't particularly like how all the other students are being positioned as villains as matilda starts her first day #one thing i loved about the OG (AND the book) is how all the students were together against teh Trunchbull #the bowl cut blonde girl was NOT sinister like this in her other intros #emma thompson's fat suit was also genuinely a stupid choice #not because she's wrong for the role #but because she would've been right for the role in her normal skin #if fat was important cast a fat actor?#like..........wtf
