Being stabbed, or staked in your case, would cause instant death but from what I've seen in shows, the vampires turn to dust upon being staked. Humans are much harder to get rid of. You need more tools to dismember the body if you wanted to do it correctly. Either way, not fun for either party being killed, but an interesting thought."
