#ellie's somewhat plainer but ray doesn't care one bit

OC Valentine's Challenge 2024 Day Two - Second Chance Romance

Ellie Weston got to know Ray Daley in secondary school, and they soon became fast friends, though it wasn't until two years after leaving that Ray finally gathered up the courage to ask her out. They dated for several months, but despite being in love problems started setting in, with Ellie insecurities about herself as a person and Ray's insecurities about himself as a boyfriend (given that he hadn't had much experience with relationships) playing big parts, and they broke up weeks before their one-year anniversity, and though they promised to remain friends they soon drifted apart, with Ellie leaving London to find work.

Yet even years later they still remember each other well - Ellie, in fact, has never really loved anyone else, and Ray still thinks of her as the one that got away - and after she returned to London in the nineties she ended up running into him again. The friendship was rekindled, though Ellie was convinced he'd moved on from her romantically - given how often he flirts with people and the fact he has an on-again, off-again relationship going on - but this turns out not to be the case. Ray, after a few months of her being in his life again, realises that the feelings are still there for both of them and - if Ellie's willing to give him another chance, he's determined that this time, this time, it'll work out.

And while some of Ellie's insecurities are still there...she's willing to try again with the man she never stopped loving.
