You have no reason to hate Hayley Marshall or the Haylijah ship

There. I’ve said it. Or I should say, you have no legitimate reason to hate the character, Phoebe Tonkin, or any relationship her character is in. For those of you who run anti hayley blogs who are about to descend upon my tumblr inbox like vultures, let me drop some bit of logic on you as I’m pretty sure I know what you’re about to say to make me “see the light” and I’m telling you right now, you’re wrong.

1. She’s a selfish character

So is about 95% of every other character on the show and yet I don’t see a thousand hate blogs dedicated to them. Where’s the “King Moon Moon” blog dedicated to Klaus and all his usual douchbaggeryness? He uses people like I use toilet paper and yet I don’t see people grabbing their pitchforks and torches to demand his head on a silver platter.

Think about it and put your blind hatred aside for just a second. Everything Hayley does, she either does for her daughter, the Mikaelsons, or the Crescent wolves. That’s the complete opposite of someone who is “selfish”. Hell, I can’t ever recall a scene in which she did something for herself sans the TVD series, can you? Didn’t think so.

2. She uses people

Yeah, and? Again, so does about 95% of the other characters on the show. Devina used Hayley to exact revenge on some witch who spurned her, the Mikaelsons used Devina to bring back their mother to use as a bargaining chip against their psychotic aunt, Freya used Devina to undo Lucien’s spell and ended up getting Devina’s soul shredded (maybe, I’m still not sold on that plot line yet), Kol used Devina when he had been brought back as a witch so that he could make more cursed objects, Marcel used Devina when she was the last standing harvest girl to take over New Orleans, Klaus used Gia and had her murdered to gain his psycho aunt’s trust, Elijah used Lucien, Aurora, and Tristian by compelling them into thinking they were the Mikaelsons so that their father would go after them instead of the real Mikaelsons, Klaus used Josh as a spy in his plan to take back the city from Marcel, and the list just goes on and on and on. 

But yet again, I have yet to see any hate blogs for any of the other people mentioned above. Really, the only time Hayley ever even used anyone was when she married Jackson so that the crescent wolves could share in her hybrid abilities. She gave up the only love of her life so she could make her pack stronger, which is an act of selflessness because I’m sure it probably hurt like hell for her to be apart from Elijah. But do go on and tell me again about what a selfish bitch she is.

3. She had no right to be jealous of Gia’s relationship with Elijah.

I’m sorry, are you watching the same show that I am? Cause I’m starting to think there’s a totally different “the Originals” that other people are seeing which would explain all this nonsensical bs. Did you not watch the scene where she told Elijah she planned on marrying another guy and that the marriage wasn’t about Jackson or how she didn’t love him and that she was only doing it for her wolves? Knowing that she said those things, Elijah went ahead and sought comfort elsewhere which is his right, but to fault Hayley for being mad about it is just plain stupid. He knew she still had feelings for him, she even flat out said it and showed him before she got hitched, but he went ahead and pursued another woman DIRECTLY AFTER the wedding ceremony. So if the guy you bared your god damn heart out to just threw it back in your face, wouldn’t you be pretty pissed too? Yeah, I thought so.

Now if she had actually tried to get in between their relationship and flat out told him he couldn’t be with anyone else, I would see why people might have issue with this cause that shit’s not cool but she didn’t. All she did was just make a few sarcastic quips which she’s entitled to because you know..she’s a person with feelings who’s entitled to them just like you’re entitled to your blind hatred for her even though I think that blind hatred is stupid.

 4. Phoebe Tonkin is just a terrible actress, that’s why her character sucks

I don’t know what qualifies as “good acting” but I imagine it’s someone who can make a character believable and I think that Phoebe has that in spades. Hell, the girl has been acting since she was a kid, H2O add water anyone? Not to mention the movies that she has been in and that one random music video which I’m too lazy to look up right now. So tell me this, if she’s really a bad actor as you say then why is she still continuously booking gigs?

If she’s such a terrible actress, shouldn’t they have replaced her by now with...I dunno, who’s popular these days? The girl from fifty shades? Would you prefer that?

5. She’s a hypocrite who threw a hissy fit when Klaus took their daughter away even though she tried to do the same with him.

Again, are we watching the same show? You’re talking about Klaus Mikaelson, right? The same Klaus Mikaelson who wouldn’t listen to a single word anyone was saying? The Klaus Miakelson who daggered his siblings sometimes for centuries just because they didn’t want to do things his way? The same Klaus Mikaelson who’s crazy aunt and supposedly dead mother was after their child? 

Ok so I want you to imagine this. You have a child with someone who turns out to be a psychotic serial killer. You’re telling me you wanna give that guy visiting rights? That guy. Who makes paintings using the BLOOD of his enemies? The guy who’s in-laws wanna put your child on an altar and stab it to death? 

Ok well, now imagine that same guy taking said child away from you, that child you fought so damn hard to protect and that you’ve literally already died for once. Oh, you’re not ok with that? Well, gee aren’t you quite the hypocrite.

I’m sure there’s plenty of other excuses you haters can come up with, especially if you have the time to dedicate an entire hate blog for a non existent person but frankly I don’t care. Hayley Marshall/Haylijah are going stronger than ever and that’s not about to change any time soon regardless of what I, or any of you say.
