#eichi in my fantasy au now. for SOME reason

ooh btw I'm curious what was your process for world building and writing your bb fic?

OOO OKAY OKAYYY i warn you this is going to be long bc overexplaining is my passion and there is just so much for me to say abt this fic

well first i already knew i wanted to write a royalty/fantasy au focused on knights bc i ADORE this type of au and well. they are knights!!!! so who would be better to write an au like this abt!!! it was just too perfect and the bigbang gave me the opportunity and push i needed to start developing this idea

i wanted everything to make sense into the au with the things we know in canon so ofc leo had to be the king and the rest are his close group of loyal knights. i chose to write it focused on the equivalent to ! era instead of !! and not have tsukasa be directly the king bc not only was it relevant to the plot i had in mind (leo Had to be the king for that) but also i wanted to show how leo passed the crown to tsukasa at the end just like in requiem, which is probably my fave knights story so i really really wanted to reference it at the end (and ngl i love ! era and by the time i started with this fic i hadnt read enough !! stories either ajsdk)

for the worldbuilding i wrote some notes abt the characters. i started with knights and wrote abt their past, general situation of each of them and even a bit of their relationships with other characters. here you have them if youre interested o7

but apart from knights there were other characters i had very clear since the beginning that i wanted to include in the fic. like mao mika and sora, bc i wanted to write abt their relationships with ritsu arashi and tsukasa respectively. also i very much wanted to write 2wink for the only reason that i love them and if no one is going to write knights and 2wink together then ill do it myself!!!! i also wanted to include switch as a whole bc they would fit so well into this au as wizards and its a bit of the same with alkaloid as soldiers and ra*bits as forest spirits!

other characters are also mentioned even if they dont really appear. some are just casual tiny cameos i felt like doing like tori or tetora and shinobu but others have a more important relevance like eichi. i figured since he is often described as an emperor, well he could be one in this au fr! that means we have leos kingdom and eichis empire one next to the other in this world (and in my head i was imagining even a third one, like a country for all the characters who arent from yumenosaki, i called it the reimei state but it wasnt relevant at all for the story so its not mentioned in the fic). but well, the existence of the empire was very important because i also wanted to write a sort of backstory referencing checkmate into this au, which ended up being an attack from the empire to leos kingdom and the outcome affected leo so much that he ended up going into lockdown for months just like in canon

soooo with all this now i only needed a plot. i wanted it to be like a silly adventure but also with a deeper meaning behind it and that it let them grow closer together as friends and also grow as individual characters. so a quest to find something was my first idea. and since leo was the king it Had to be his idea so i wanted it to be music related and thats how i came up with the forgotten lyre tadaaaa. i had him reveal it during a ball at the beginning of the story just bc i wanted to write a ball scene and have rtmo and nrmk and izlo and everyone in pretty clothes and dancing together (super self indulgent). as every typical quest they had to encounter different obstacles in their way and i figured each obstacle or stop in their way could be related to a different unit: so switch would give them directions, ra*bits would stop them in an enchanted forest, undead would ambush them at night, alkaloid would pose them some trials before the end and 2wink would be the real final boss and thennnn when they finally got the lyre in their hands, the last chapter had to be tsukasas coronation for the perfect ending

i also made notes of what i wanted to happen in each chapter. this was important to organize myself bc i knew since the beginning there had to be ten chapters in total since i used povs from everyone in knights and so i could have each one of them have two chapters in the end. however its true i didnt have every single detail planned and my teammates helped me a lot giving some ideas in the parts i got a bit stuck

oh and i almost forgot! the prophecy!! tbh this part wasnt planned from the very beginning but rather it was a sudden idea i got while writing switch chapter. i just thought since natsume is interested in divination in canon it could translate to this au giving them a prophecy and making things more interesting!! since i had the plot more or less planned out i could write the prophecy right from the start and then i just had to make sure it all made sense when writing the rest of the chapters. i was a bit worried at first bc writing prophecies can be tricky and i had never done it before but i think it turned out pretty okay in the end!

hi hiiii if it isn't my favourite star in the whole universe ( •̀ ω •́ )✧ i’m very much ready to read about those 30 dark fantasy aus,, i like dark fantasy <3 i just,, you can’t expect me not to turn every series i get into to a fantasy au with magic, royals and swords. i can’t. especially when there are so many unit concepts around knights and princes and monsters and... see it’s them, not me (●ˇ∀ˇ●)

natsume is of course a full time magician! i mean. yeah. original aren't you nya ╰(*°▽°*)╯he lives in a little cottage in the middle of this dark and edgy forest people just avoid because bad vibes (tm). which is perfect for him! because he gets this cute little place aaaaall for himself and his research... no, not really sora lives with him but shhhh <3

anyways natsume,, talented as usual, socialization still isn’t his forte but who needs people when you have cats and magic? he’s happy as long as he gets to try new spells and learn all the secret magic he wants. he keeps mumbling over how he could actually overthrow eichi if he wanted to, that he should be grateful natsume has other things to work on or he’d be king already,, see, eichi doesn’t have a good relationship with the oddballs in this universe either~ so yeah natsume is our local extremely powerful (and grumpy) magician

aaaaand sora is a magician in training! he's seen what natsume's real magic looks like and he wants to do something like that, because he wants to make the world a better and happier place (❁´◡`❁) also, someone has to look after natsume or he'll forget to eat and sleep for a week straight when he's too absorbed by his work. sora is there to cheer him up and be the little voice of reason that takes the big alchemy books from his desk when it's waaaay past bed time. and natsume,, thinks a bit of sora like his little brother because i know natsume does this even in usual enstars and this is my au and switch is a family <3

together they run some sort of,, spells on demand place? as long as you have the money and don't ask for anything that contradicts natsume's morals (which are,, kind of interesting on its own) you might get the perfect magical solution for all your troubles! sora is the delivery boy in all of this, he runs from natsume's place to town all day long and also does a huge variety of odd jobs because natsume is as picky as ever when it comes to taking jobs and there are two people in this house. sora the little lifesaver that keeps them well fed ♪(´▽｀)

now mugi! tsumugi is the royal librarian ehehe most people are surprised at how close he is to prince eichi but they've known each other for a loooong time so there's this kind of weird friendship/trust/strange relationship between them. anyways tsumugi is just,, so knowleadgeable about books. and about everything that's going on inside and outside the castle. he keeps tabs on everyone? how? i don't even know but he's friends with literally everyone you can think of. 

so that includes sora too! because he's such a cute boy of course tsumugi is friends with him! which means he is friends with natsume by default, the whole “friends of my friends are my friends”. natsume (as usual) doesn't quite agree with the whole friends part and won't hesitate to close the door on mugi's face every time he comes to visit, saying that if he even tries to push that door open he's going to curse him for the rest of his life and his next 6 lifes. it never works out though. mugi is,, very curse resistant, it seems ehehe

but yeah! sora takes tsumugi to have dinner with them at least once a week and it’s just,, switch being a little (fantasy) family together? in a tiny little cottage in the middle of nowhere? natsume keeps swearing tsumugi won’t come into their house ever again because his curse will definitely work this time but it just. never does. maaaaaybe because he isn’t putting his whole heart into it. so we just turn to the classics and get some little natsume violence. as a treat dfgdfg

i've just realized but. don't they give some howl moving castle vibes? i have a bit of a,, very strong passion for that movie.... the romance is so good... anyways do please imagine “dating natsume the magician” because i’ve already thought about it and (〃 ω 〃) i’m going to stop here before i turn this into a full length book ehehe

omg candy nonnie you don't even know what you've done asking me to talk about my big very big unnecessarily big enstars fantasy au because there's a lot and i don't even know where to start BUT! i'll do my best and try to do a summary (●ˇ∀ˇ●)

once upon a time there was this big biiiig kingdom ruled by everyone’s favourite crown prince, eichi <3 some people say he’s too strict, some people say he’s kind but doesn’t know how to show it, but at least people under his reign do live happily! but alas not everything can be nice and sugary sweet for our prince has an extreme rivalry with someone… and that is demon lord rei! because you know he’s a demon! demons can’t be good people, everyone knows that! and it’s his duty to just,, do something about it! （︶^︶）

and yet the inhabitants of rei’s demon kingdom are pretty pleased with their current situation? human and demons living together under his wing, no bad vibes! i mean yeah things could be a bit better if eichi and rei would stop being passive aggressive to each other every time there’s an attempt at a diplomatic meeting between them but,, give them time, there’s a lot to unpack ehehe

i just,, i know i said summary but lemme go a bit overboard with this… hinata and yuta are rei’s absolutely chaotic but very much beloved sidekicks / accidentally adopted children and they’re a happy family together,, undead + 2wink family rights in each and every thing i write! the aoi twins as cute demons with small bat wings who enjoy playing around and overall just having a good time,, yuta is hinata’s control switch because they always get complaints on the latest prank he pulled on whatever innocent victim he found this time and rei just pretty much lets him do as he pleases because he’s like,, another one of his little siblings. just rei playing big brother on everyone in his kingdom, that’s it, that’s the whole au. maybe that’s because ritsu decided to fly away too soon,, sob sob he misses his official little brother so much. but! hinata and yuta sneaking into other kingdoms to meet people, get new friends and just enjoy life to the fullest o((>ω< ))o

more kingdoms! we get eden ft his highness nagisa and royal prince hiyori. nagisa, who looks like this big and scary ruler everyone is pretty afraid of because he’s always so serious? but he’s actually soft… <3 it’s just his very trusted advisor suggested him to keep that image!! and hiyori! who is having the time of his life just travelling, taking it easy and dragging knight jun with him everywhere. no, no, his duties to the crown start on keeping him entertained so it’s okay! a prince needs his protection!

of course knights does also have a big part in this whole au because… knights being knights + demon lord rei were the two reasons i came up with this whole thing (*/ω＼*) royal guards knights with leo as their captain! ohhh leo being the strong and adventurous hero everyone tells stories about! people say he killed a dragon! that he found a magical crystal in a far away land! he retired from that kind of life and decided to take care of the knights of his kingdom! but leo randomly decides that being a knight isn’t his thing anymore, that he’s tired and you know what? he wants more time to compose. so he pretty much just,, flees the kingdom ehehe and shoves all his responsibilities under poor little tsukasa, one of the lower princes in another kingdom, who decided to follow his heart and join the knights out of admiration for leo and is now charged not only with dealing with all the knights as the newly appointed captain but also finding leo because you just,, can’t do that? you don’t run away like that?? 

leo living his best life as a travelling bard, having fun, playing music and being actually free for once in his life~ he does get tired of going from one place to another and decides to come back, as long as he gets to change his title from captain to royal composer. ohhh yeah. not everyone is pleased with that but leo likes it very much! he almost spends more time with everyone else than he does composing but that’s,, an entirely different story

uwaaa this got so long omg i’m sorry as you can see i have many many many thoughts about it,, i have more or less an idea for most of the characters in enstars ehehe this is what happens when you keep listening to little romance on repeat for days…enstars fantasy otome au,, yup i’m going to name it just like that <3 i will admit that i accidentally came up with all of this for oc purposes but it’s become so big and so complex that i just… casually takes my oc out of this entire thing and proceeds to watch from the sidelines ♪(´▽｀)
