I’m quite pleased with this little Angbang snapshot, part of Love Leapt Out , the prequel to Dream a Little Dream

“So do you see?” He prompts Melkor, practically bouncing in his seat as his elucidating lecture comes to its highly impressive conclusion. He flourishes his hands over the collection of items he has arranged on his desk to help him convey the processes he has devised, eyes fixed on their elegant patterns. “Do you see, my love? Don’t you think that’s terribly clever?”

When there is still no reply he looks over to where his audience of one lounges, dismayed to find him focused entirely on picking shreds of stringy flesh from between his teeth with a stiletto blade.

“Are you even listening…” he roars, slamming his fists down and sending some of his careful configurations into a jumble. Melkor’s head turns his way, deliberately slow, and Mairon appends a more measured “…my Lord?”

His master heaves a sigh, “Well what didst thou say?” The Vala continues removing gore from his fangs, clearly disinterested in any answer. He realises Melkor’s toothpick is an instrument of Mairon’s own making; a gift finely-honed and inlaid with jewels.

“Nothing much, I was just explaining how I have harnessed the power of invisibility through my peerless genius, but I see now that’s really of very little consequence.”

“Dost thou forget I may walk unclad and pass in secrecy, unseen by all?”

“Hmm, yes good point. Not everybody can do that though, can they?” He can’t believe that’s what he’s using the blade for, Mairon had meant it as a token of his love, intentionally delicate, to be used in their games perhaps. Clearly his gift means nothing. He means nothing.

“Hold thy insolent tongue,” Melkor points the blade at him, gristle dangling from the tip, “if thou desireth to keep it.”

With pursed lips he snatches up the pendant from the centre of the desk and stands, drawing himself up to his full height, attempting to retain some dignity.

“May I take my leave then, my Lord, if it please thee?”

Melkor regards him with bemusement, then waves him away.

He strides away, boots clicking against the stone, robes billowing behind him -

“Mairon…”

He whirls on his heel, heart leaping at the possibility of some overture -

“Bid someone bring me more of… whatever this is,” he gestures vaguely at the platter of bones at his side.

“That was Egnis, my Lord.”

“See to it.”

“My Lord.” He sketches the most insincere bow he reckons he can get away with and departs.

I’m really happy that my comments aren’t obnoxious. I was more than a bit worried about it appearing like I was a complete wacko after I posted them.

I have really enjoyed re-reading all of the Haunted Mansion stories. Even if it has turned me into a complete spazz again. It is really great to revisit everything. Especially when a few things finally click together. I’ve had way too many “oh duh” moments the last few days. You are such an awesome author and I can’t believe I missed those hints you wrote.

Like it never clicked that Nathaniel was possessed by his ancestor and had been acting out his ancestors curse when Alex and Kim found him. I had read that chapter several times and never got that until yesterday. Why did I not question why he was in a room that was nearly impossible for two people to open? I have no idea.

It also never clicked that the Krypte family probably still exists in modern times and the living members would have no issue with helping the Culpa spirits adapt to the world. I keep thinking of them almost like an alternate take on the Addams Family as I re-read “Romance” especially Malaura.

The Addams family were a major inspiration for the Krypte- at one point I was looking up Addams family relatives for naming ideas. I can't actually remember how that worked out, but the end result was Cousin Blacken, Char, and Great Aunt Egnis, referenced by Allen and Claude in chapter 19.

Claude introduced Cousin Blacken to Char. The results? Were slightly traumatic for Claude, but a source of hilarity for Great Aunt Egnis.

I also have an Addams pinterest board- watched the original series with my Granny in her last few years, as something she could easily keep up with and enjoy.

Voyage along the Seven Seaways canal and behold a cast of almost 300 Audio-Animatronics dolls representing children from every corner of the globe as they sing the classic anthem to world peace—in their native languages. 

The ride opened in 1966, but additional characters debuted in 2009—thoughtfully placed in the appropriate nations. 

During your cruise, keep an eye out for Peter Pan and Tinker Bell in England, Cinderella in her native France, Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket in Italy, Aladdin and Jasmine in the Middle East, The Three Caballeros in Mexico, Ariel and Flounder under the sea, Lilo and Stitch in the South Pacific and Woody, Bullseye and Jessie in the southwestern U.S.A.

"It's a Small World (After All)" is a timeless classic and one of the most well-known songs of all time. Walt Disney asked the Academy Award®-winning brothers, Richard and Robert Sherman, who were hard at work on Mary Poppins, to create a singular song that could be sung by Audio-Animatronics figures in multiple languages.

"it's a small world" was created for the 1964-1965 New York World's Fair. Personally overseen by Walt Disney in support of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the attraction was a huge hit for 2 seasons at the fair and was eventually shipped back to Disneyland park, where it opened on May 28, 1966.

Due to its immense popularity, the attraction has been replicated around the world and is considered a Walt Disney classic.
