DKJFH HEH im in my head, the thomahao arc plays out like a romeo juliette esc type of situation, where thoma befriends zhao but is like "my bf hates you :(" in his head so he's dancing around ayato and stuff when it comes to their hangouts. and then ayato is like "wait. shit i like two people?????!!!" after ayaka knocks some sense into him when it comes to his rivalry with zhao.
