“You two hit the pool. I’ll have some grub ready when you’ve had time to freshen up a bit.” When his guests made no move he gestured toward the pond behind them. Clay glanced over his shoulder and back. He shrugged. “The pool,” said Kallorek, pointing. “The pool, right there.”
“You mean the pond?”
“I mean the pool,” growled the booker. “Get in. Swim.” He accompanied these words with effusive gestures that set his jewellery ringing.
Clay examined the pond. “Swim to where?” he asked.
“What do you mean swim to where?” Kallorek’s brow deepened.
“Is it a healing spring?” Gabe asked. He flexed his arm, wincing as he extended it fully. “Because I think my elbow—”
“Listen, fuck your elbow!” Kallorek blew up. Clay had forgotten how short the booker’s fuse was. That big toothy smile one moment, and the next …“It ain’t a spring, or a pond, or a godsdamned sea nymph’s bathtub. It’s a fucking pool. Just a pool! You swim around in it to relax.”
Clay was wise enough to know that suggesting Kallorek make use of the pool himself would only provoke him further, but Gabriel wasn’t—and so the moment he opened his mouth Clay shoved him hard into the water, where he splashed and spat and scrabbled like a dog for the shore. Kallorek’s rage dissipated; he burst into a fit of laughter that left him wiping tears from his eyes.
“You’re right,” said Clay. “I feel better already.”

Patriarch Richard Barker, born in England circa 1621, was one of the original proprietors of Andover, arriving in the new world with his wife Joanna in the late 1630s. In fact, he might even be called the first settler of Andover. He was among a group from nearby Newbury and Ipswich who had petitioned for land in 1640. The first recorded business transaction in Andover, dated August 13, 1643, was Barker’s deed to land and livestock.
Barker originally owned 7 acres, then 10, and eventually, 300 contiguous acres, near “the Great Pond,” or Lake Cochichewick, in what is today North Andover. Barker was one of ten freeholders to establish the First Church of Andover in 1645. In August of 2000, Marjorie Wardwell Otten wrote in the Essex Genealogist (Vol. 20, No. 3), “There was hardly any town affair of importance for 50 years on record which does not bear Richard Barker’s name as party to or witness of, petitioner, etc.”
Between 1644 and 1663, Richard and Joanna had nine children. The families of three of their sons (John, William, and Ebenezer) and one daughter (Hannah) were directly affected by the witch hysteria that first arrived in Andover in May of 1692 with the arrest of Martha Carrier, and escalated in mid-July with ever-increasing accusations against Andover citizens. When all was said and done, more people were accused of witchcraft in Andover than in any other Essex County town.
On August 25, arrest warrants were issued for the Barkers’ second-oldest son, 47-year-old William Barker, as well as his 13-year-old niece Mary Barker (daughter of oldest Barker son John). William’s niece-by-marriage, 27-year-old Mary (Osgood) Marston, stepdaughter of youngest Barker daughter Hannah (who became Christopher Osgood’s second wife in 1680) was also named on the warrant. The complaint against all three was made by Samuel Martin of Andover and Moses Tyler of Boxford. Author Richard Hite, in his book In the Shadow of Salem: The Andover Witch Hunt of 1692, says, “This marked the beginning of the second phase of the Andover persecution.” All three were arrested by August 29, examined, and jailed in Salem.
The three Barker relations were accused of “woefully afflicting and abusing” three recently-afflicted local girls. One was Rose Foster, the teenage granddaughter of Rebecca Eames of Boxford (who had herself been accused of witchcraft earlier in August). Rose’s father was Andover constable Ephraim Foster. Another afflicted girl named in the complaint was Samuel Martin’s 16-year-old daughter Abigail. The third person, soon to be the principal accuser in Andover, was Moses Tyler’s 16-year-old stepdaughter Martha Sprague.
By this point, it was widely-thought that confessing was the only way to save one’s life. During his examination, William made a remarkable and elaborate confession, saying “he has been in the snare of the devil three years, that the devil first appeared to him like a black man and [he] perceived he had a cloven foot, that the devil demanded of him to give up himself body & soul unto him, which he promised to do…” William went on, in great detail, to explain that he had, indeed, tormented his three accusers, that he had signed the devil’s book in blood, and that the devil promised to pay all his debts. William said he previously attended a meeting of about 100 witches in Salem Village, where there was a sacrament of bread and wine, led by Reverend George Burroughs and the devil. (Burroughs had been hanged by this time, on August 19.) William even explained the devil’s intentions to “set up his own worship [and] abolish all the churches in the land.” William begged forgiveness for what he had done and promised to renounce the devil.
Thirteen-year-old Mary Barker also confessed to afflicting her three accusers, and said she had attended the witch meeting with her uncle, had been baptized by the devil in Five Mile Pond (known as Spofford Pond today), and she also accused Goody Johnson and Goody Faulkner of witchcraft (both were members of the extended Ingalls-Dane family), and added this colorful detail, “she has seen no appearance since but a fly which did speak to her, and bid her afflict these poor creatures which she did by pinching with, and clinching of her hands, for which she is sorry.”
Mary Marston’s confession was similar to that of her relatives – she confirmed that her uncle William Barker, her cousin Mary Barker, and she herself were witches, that she had afflicted her three accusers, and that she, too, had attended a witch meeting in Salem Village. When she was asked how long she had been in league with the devil, “she now saith that about the time when her mother died and she was overcome with melancholy, about three years since the black man appeared to her in the great room and told her she must serve and worship him. And so she did.”
On September 1, William’s son, 14-year-old William Barker Jr. was also arrested. He clearly had heard the details of the Barker confessions before him, as well as the news of the day, because his story was similar to his father and cousins, and he named recently-accused “witches.” Like his relatives , William Jr. was accused of tormenting Martha Sprague, Rose Foster, and Abigail Martin “which he did not deny but could not remember it.” He said he’d been a witch for six days and, “as he was going in the woods one evening to look after cows he saw the shape of a black dog which looked very fiercely upon him And he was much disturbed in his mind about it and could not sleep well that night.” He went on to describe a meeting with the devil, his own baptism in Five Mile Pond, and his mark in the devil’s book. He also named Mary Parker as a witch (she’d been accused of witchcraft in late August, along with four of her family members) as well as Samuel Wardwell, his wife Mary, and two of their daughters. The Wardwell family had been accused and arrested in late August and were examined on September 1, the same day as William Jr.
The last Barker family member to be caught up in the Andover witch hunt was Abigail (Wheeler) Barker who had married the third-oldest Barker son, Ebenezer, in 1686. On September 7, at the Andover meeting house, the infamous “touch test” took place. It was believed that an afflicted person would be “cured” if she or he touched a “witch.” The evil, it was thought, would flow back into its source. The touch test had been used in Salem examinations since May, but on this day, all of Andover’s accused and afflicted were gathered together at the meeting house. The accused “witches” were blindfolded and were led to the afflicted girls. If the afflictions ceased after touching one of the accused it was believed a witch had been identified. By the time the touch test was over, all of the accused women and men, at least seventeen people, had been confirmed as witches. Among them were Abigail Barker and Mary Osgood (wife of Richard Barker’s lifelong friend John Osgood).
Abigail Barker is particularly remembered for an account of the touch test in “an undated declaration prepared and signed by six suspects [one of whom was Abigail] just prior to the resumption of trials in January 1693,” according to author Richard Hite. All of the accused had been forced to participate, and all were found guilty. Said the remarkable declaration, “…we knowing ourselves altogether innocent of the crime, we were all exceedingly astonished and amazed, and consternated and affrighted even out of our reason; and our nearest and dearest relations, seeing us in that dreadful condition, and knowing our great danger, apprehended there was no other way to save our lives, as the case was then circumstanced, but by confessing ourselves to be such and such persons as the afflicted represented us to be, out of tenderness and pity, persuaded us to confess what we did confess.”
Although the date is uncertain, it is known that after his indictment, William Barker Sr. somehow escaped from jail and fled. As a penalty, his cattle were seized, and his brother John had to pay £2 10s to get them back. (William’s descendant George Barker has a theory that William may have hidden on an island in a nearby swamp, until it was safe to emerge after the trials.) Once the hysteria subsided, William Barker Sr. lived in Andover for the rest of his life, holding various jobs in town, including fence viewer and constable. He and his wife Mary Dix had thirteen children. William died in 1718 and is buried in the First Burial Ground in North Andover.
On October 3, 1692, John Barker and Francis Faulkner paid the bond for the release of three of the youngest accused: John’s daughter Mary Barker (aged 13), her cousin William Barker Jr. (aged 14), and Mary Lacy Jr. (aged 18). John Barker and John Osgood (whose wife Mary was also accused) later paid for the release of the rest of the jailed Andover children.
Mary Barker and William Barker Jr. were tried and acquitted by a jury in May of 1693. In 1704, the cousins, who had shared such a traumatic experience twelve years earlier, got married. The couple had eight children. They continued to live in Andover for the rest of their lives: William Jr. died in 1745 and Mary died in 1752. Both are buried in the First Burial Ground in North Andover.
Mary (Osgood) Marston and Abigail (Wheeler) Barker were both tried and acquitted in January of 1693. The former died in Andover in 1700, the latter in 1743. Abigail’s husband Ebenezer, who had waited until he was 35 years old to get married, lived to be 95, dying in 1746.
Patriarch Richard Barker died in March of 1693, and his good friend John Osgood died shortly thereafter.
Not everyone involved in the Salem witch trials is remembered in the same way. It’s important to highlight this quote from Marjorie Wardwell Otten in the Essex Genealogist, “Three men of Andover stand out in their efforts to defuse and to bring forth the falsities of the accusations: John Barker, John Osgood, and Reverend Francis Dane.” John Barker, who married Mary Stevens in 1670, was not only one of the voices of reason during the terrible events of 1692, and one of the men who paid to release the accused children, but he was a Deacon of the First Church, became a Sergeant in the militia in 1702, and a Captain in 1708. He died of smallpox in 1732, and is buried in the Mount Vernon Cemetery in Boxford.
What led to the accusations against so many members of such an upstanding and respected Andover family? Sometimes the reasons are hinted at in the records – family feuds, personality clashes, long-standing neighborly accusations. In the Barkers’ case, there is nothing in the records that explains it. Author Richard Hite speculates that there may have been some dispute between the accuser Moses Tyler and the accused William Barker Sr. Their farms were only a mile apart, possibly even abutting, so perhaps there had been previous altercations. We will likely never know.
There are two additional family connections to the witchcraft trials worth mentioning: Rebecca Eames of Boxford, and her son Daniel, were both accused and jailed. Daniel was married to Lydia Wheeler, sister of Abigail (Wheeler) Barker.
The other intriguing relationship involves Andover’s Samuel Wardwell (hanged on September 22). When Wardwell was examined after being accused of witchcraft, he spoke of a disappointment in love from twenty years earlier: “He said the reason of his discontent then was because he was in love with a maid named Barker who slighted his love.” The target of his affections was oldest Barker daughter Sarah, who chose to marry John Abbot instead of Wardwell.
Today, the Barkers remain a pillar of the North Andover community. Barker’s Farm was established in 1642, and has been run by 10 generations of the family, making it the oldest continuously owned and operated family farm in the United States. Barker’s Farmstand on Osgood Street in North Andover is one of our favorite places.
Special thanks to George and Dorothea Barker, and Karen, Laurie, Beth, Dianne and Sam, for their help and generosity researching their family history.
Barker’s Farmstand is at 1267 Osgood Street (Route 125) in North Andover.

G.K. Chesterton’s Manalive contains a memorable exploration of the importance of gratitude. Innocent Smith chases a pessimistic professor onto a flying buttress for saying that it’s really better off for people to be dead, and once the professor realizes that he’s in danger of falling to his death, he realizes just how much he wants to live and how much more he appreciates all the small things in the world. Before Smith lets him back into the safety of his room, they have this exchange:
“You are now engaged in public worship,’ remarked Smith severely, `and before I have done with you, you shall thank God for the very ducks on the pond.’
“The celebrated pessimist half articulately expressed his perfect readiness to thank God for the ducks on the pond.
“Not forgetting the drakes,’ said Smith sternly. (Eames weakly conceded the drakes.) `Not forgetting anything, please. You shall thank heaven for churches and chapels and villas and vulgar people and puddles and pots and pans and sticks and rags and bones and spotted blinds.’
“All right, all right,’ repeated the victim in despair; `sticks and rags and bones and blinds.’
“Spotted blinds, I think we said,’ remarked Smith with a rogueish ruthlessness, and wagging the pistol-barrel at him like a long metallic finger.
“Spotted blinds,’ said Emerson Eames faintly.
Since I’ve read this, I’ve occasionally engaged in what I call the Spotted Blinds Prayer--thanking God for a random list of extremely mundane things that I might not think to be grateful for under ordinary circumstances. I thought this might be a good thing to engage in on Thanksgiving. So, if you like, reblog with a list of a few mudane or highly specific or just random things in the world that you want to thank God for (whether you’re celebrating Thanksgiving today or not).
Today, I’m grateful for lightbulbs and sweaters, bedsheets and carpets, breezes, socks, mirrors, artists, photographs, toothbrushes and winter coats.
(Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!)

If I’m not too late!! (Un)breakable and I’m fishing for the arthur/eames one here, but take me where I cannot stand?
No such thing as too late! :D So, (un)breakable (subtitle: the inevitable sequel) was intended to be, you know, the inevitable Old Guard sequel where Quynh comes back and does whatever it is she’s planning to do. It’s currently a couple of pages’ worth of notes and no actual writing. One of the primary plot points I’d planned to include has since shown up in someone else’s fic (totally coincidentally!), so I’ve stalled hard trying to come up with a different way to tell the story, because I don’t want to look like I’m just aping a preexisting (and fairly popular) fic. We’ll see how that shakes itself out.
Your fishing for the Arthur/Eames fic pulled up the wrong WIP title, but I’ll give it to you anyway. :P The Inception WIP is “tinker tailor”. I’d outlined it fairly thoroughly and written a handful of full scenes waaaay back when the movie came out, and then XMFC hit fandom like a ton of bricks and I straight up abandoned all my Inception WIPs. Like you do. But this one has enough structure that I do keep circling back to it periodically, because damn it, I’d really wanted to finish it. It’s meant to be the full Eames & Arthur backstory, with a couple of twists. Snippet:
When Eames first meets Arthur, Eames still goes by his real name and Arthur doesn't.
Eames is a Corporal, which is maybe a step and a half higher than dog shit, but a step and a half higher than dog shit in the SAS is still a damn sight more impressive than this civvie suit from across the pond.
Not that it isn't a very nice suit.
"This is Mr. Smith," the Colonel barks. The name is a blatant falsehood; Smith may as well call himself Bond, James Bond and be done with it. "It seems the Yanks have taken a certain interest in our little experiments, and Mr. Smith here has been sent over to observe."
So-Called-Smith gives the squadron a pleasant smile and nod.
And looks faintly perturbed when fifteen impassive British commandos smoothly whip out their AK-47s and train the sights on him.
Possibly he knows enough about guns to realize that the SAS doesn't generally arm its troops with Russian black market assault rifles. But that's probably not his most pressing concern at the moment.
"We have a very special training regimen," the Colonel remarks with a toothy grin. He circles So-Called-Smith slowly, shark-like. "And we're positively chuffed to demonstrate."
Here are three things Eames discovers about So-Called-Smith at that moment:
1. The suit clings to him so nicely because there's actual substance beneath it. 2. He isn't entirely ignorant as to the nature of the SAS's experimental training regime. 3. He really, really doesn't like surprises.
This is how the Colonel winds up with his arm twisted up behind his back and a Ka-Bar lightly kissing his jugular. Eames is fairly certain So-Called-Smith didn't even have the knife two seconds ago.
"I beg your pardon?" So-Called-Smith hisses in the Colonel's ear.
Before anyone can say or do anything stupid, the Colonel stomps down the field, parting a path through his men like Moses and the Red Sea.
Eames can't see it from this angle, but he's fairly certain that So-Called-Smith just did a very obvious double-take. His grip on Eames's wrist tightens painfully. Fortunately, the hand holding the knife against Eames's throat remains perfectly still. Not that it would really matter.
"Goddamnit, Corporal," the real Colonel snaps, his accent thickening with disapproval. "Stop poncing around the poor boy's subconscious like it's a West End stage. Mr. Smith, feel free to slit his throat."
So-Called-Smith releases Eames instead, taking a few steps back. "What the fuck?"
Here is one thing Arthur So-Called-Smith discovers about not-yet-called-Eames:
1. He is a lying liar who lies.

I love these ideas! There's just something so tasty about them being apart of the original project, and of them meeting so young and at such a formative time, I never tire of it!
Funny you should ask -- I've had this idea brewing in my head for a solid week and wont let me go. When I write fic for them, I tend to imagine them having one foot in either pond - straddling the line of the legal and the not-so-legal, and this runs along those lines. The idea is: After their long sabbatical, and after trying different jobs, successfully, maybe 5-10 years after Inception Arthur and Eames buy a dilapidated, run-down, piece of crap pub/roadhouse out in the middle of nowhere.
They fix it up. They get customers, regulars and passers-by. It becomes both a hub and a haven. You need info? Whereabouts? Go to Arthur and Eames' roadhouse. You need safe passage? Roadhouse. Guns, weapons -- a really good game of poker with a decent beer? Roadhouse. Place looks like a shack but is defended better than a fortress. There's an element of danger, but it's controlled, they have a criminal and moral code - they don't do business with just anybody, and there aint no room for grudges - take it outside, boys. Maybe they own a little house nearby and make jams, idk. I just like the idea of them behind a bar, serving customers, bitching and moaning at each other (lovingly) - half of their patrons are just passing through and want food, the other half are about to assassinate someone, all of them wondering what Arthur and Eames are to each other as they trade verbal volleys back and forth. And if there is any trouble at all, well there is a loaded shotgun and a napping dog behind the bar that doesn't take kindly to threats to its owners. The idea just tickles me. But it's one of many options I can imagine for them.
I have entertained the idea of them doing real life heists while settling down (ala settling down into a rich community and robbing all of their neighbours). Or consulting with governments for a high cost. Maybe Arthur was an engineer before and he goes back to that. Maybe they use dreamshare in helpful ways - i.e. in therapy.
My preferred option is where the 'new and exciting' thing they try is just living a straight up normal life. (Eames: how do taxes work??) I think dreamshare is like anything you once find exciting that no longer is, that turns out to be more poisonous than it's worth. You learn to live without it and find the feeling you once got from it, elsewhere. If they ever dream again, it's out of necessity, not love. There's a fic I love that encapsulates it perfectly. Idk - I don't see them as men incapable of being slow, still and quiet - I think that's what they're chasing. Or how I like to interpret them anyway haha. But I do think there is at least a fingertip in the pie of illegality - a forged certificate or little art theft never hurt anyone - right??
Hello Ash! So, we know that Dom got into dreamsharing because of professor Miles, but how do you think Arthur and Eames got into the industry? And why did they stay, what attracted them to it?
(this is especially true for Arthur, who seems to not have side gigs apart from it, from what we know at least)
And do you think they'll stay after inception?
Hello lovely!!! Oh I love this question and I'd love to know your thoughts/theories as well!!
For Arthur, I love the fandom fave military backstory, and having been a part of the original project. Or maybe Miles used to work in the US and it was Arthur that was one of his 'best and brightest' that Cobb corrupted. Mostly, I gravitate towards the idea that Arthur was never a student or in the military - that he worked himself up into a position as a research assistant through sheer hard work and happenstance, met Cobb through this position and got roped into dreamshare when Cobb went off the rails.
Arthur, to me, seems to be one of the most grounded in having a life outside of dreamshare/criminal activity. I think he was deeply attracted to the exploration of it - to the knowledge, the learning. A whole new world of ideas, notions and theory that he couldn't extract from any book. His thrill was the unspooling of it all. If Arthur wanted to know about dreamshare, its mechanics, its history, then he had to work for it, experience it. Dreamshare, to Arthur, was a challenge, it was the chance to dream up the life for himself that he always wanted - to make the money everyone said he never would.
But then, I think, once Arthur had learned and experienced as much as he could... it stopped being a challenge. It stopped being fun, something he enjoyed. It stopped being the thing that lit the fire under him. That, and what happened to Mal. Maybe he just wants to do something else, go back to a semblance of normality. I truly think he got a big dose of 'play stupid games, win stupid prizes' with Mals death, amongst other things to where it just wasn't worth it anymore. He stayed to get Cobb out of his mess, and didn't return to it, after Inception, except potentially for a handful of times when someone really needed him.
For Eames.... also love the military backstory. Solid. Works for me, love it. I'm also fond of the idea that he was just a young man down on his luck at one point, got into stealing, forging, cat burglary, whatever, and was tasked - either by fee or by blackmail - to steal a PASIV. Of course, seeing what a high price it fetched for, he kept it for himself. The rest is history.
I have a headcanon that Eames was actually retired from dreamshare at the time of Inception, and that he couldn't help but have one last chance at succeeding where he had failed before (and one last chance to dream with Arthur again). I don't know if he ever goes back after. Maybe on very rare occasions, to see if he's 'still got it'. My feeling is that his heart hasn't been in it for a long time, and that the detriments truly outweighed the benefits for him.
I like to think they were both on the path of different things in life besides dreamshare at the time of the movie. Neither of them seem particularly invested in the work itself for the reasons I mention before - especially Arthur, he didn't even want to take on the job, had no professional interest whatsoever. Eames barely kept a toe in the door prior to his recruiting. That, and I think they're at a transitional point in life - thirty-ish/thirty-something - where your priorities are just...changing. Your drives are different, your goals. You look back at your twenty-something version of yourself and say see, you survived, it's time to take a deep breath now. With all of the imagination, influence and investments they must have, I don't know if they would want to spend their time moving forward the same way they did the decade before when they were young and careless, after all they've been through.

Top 5 long fanfics
I’ve definitely rec-ed these at some point here.
Pet (NC-17 ll 100,250 words)
(INCEPTION, Arthur/Eames)High School AU fic - Arthur is in his final year of high school and finds himself entirely too interested in the new English teacher.
Pond Ice and the In Between (PG-13 ll 48,284 words)
(HOCKEY, Sid/Geno) “I thought your name was Zhenya,” Sid says, which—right, they didn’t talk about that, he just read it on the name tag and also probably butchered the pronunciation beyond repair. He thinks, maybe, that he should have only two states in life: on the ice, and in the office, and there should never exist any in between for him. He feels his face flush as he sort of tries to fix the situation, gesturing to his own chest, to where his nametag would be if he wore one, and says, “Your, uh. Your nametag yesterday said Zhenya? So I thought… I don’t know.” Or: The coffee shop AU that is still somehow all about hockey.
Marriage (NC-17 ll 40,102 words)
(CAPTIVE PRINCE, Damen/Laurent)“Marriage,” Prince Auguste bursts out and everyone stares. “A marriage between our royal families,” he clarifies, visibly clearing his throat and his head before he continues, “To symbolize the pact between our kingdoms, for generations to come. Not foes, not friends, but family.”
In Waves (R ll 45,095 words)
(STRANGER THINGS, Billy/Steve)It’s March and it’s too cold for Billy to be shirtless and wearing shorts, but he hadn’t noticed until Harrington appeared and made him hold still. Harrington can’t seem to stop looking at the bruises. “What’s it to you if I miss a little school, Harrington?” Billy asks. He feels goosebumps rising on his skin.
Thou and You (NC-17 ll 61,262 words)
(HOCKEY, Sid/Geno) There’s no way to tell just by looking at someone whether or not they are a magician. Some are more obvious than others, but Evgeni has been introduced to thousands of people since coming to London and he has never been absolutely certain before. But when Lady Everly says, “Oh, Your Highness, this is Mr. Crosby,” Evgeni knows the man in front of him is a magician.

Quarantine Tag Game!
Tagged by @theproblemwithstardust, thank you!
Are you staying home from school/work?
Yup, funnily enough given your answer to this question! The soft sciences “advantage” - no lab work; I think we were probably the first ones they sent home, like, “just do your thing, see you ... sometimes!”
If you’re staying home, who is there with you?
My mum and the kitty (and all the birdies in the garden and a HEDGEHOG (a new discovery as of yesterday) and the fishies in the pond and aquarium and as you can see I’m well entertained)
Are you a homebody?
That’s a resounding yes. Quarantine/Stay-at-home/whatever is honestly almost indecernible from my everyday life otherwise; I am very boring.
An event that you were looking forward that got cancelled?
It wasn’t an event and it wasn’t even properly planned, but we had tentative plans for Scotland (like pretty much always), and those are definitely not happening now and because of Brexit I have no idea what’s going to happen next year, so I’m sad and anxious when I’ll see my home away from home again
What movies have you watched recently?
Galaxy Quest and Inception, both re-watches, and both reminders that I loved them on the first go round for a reason (I’ve also been reading Arthur/Eames again ever since and will gladly take any fic recs!)
What shows are you watching?
None is actually the answer right now! TV time is shared/coordinated with my mum and we’ve mostly been watching nature documentaries when we’ve watched tv. I’m finally reading Good Omens though (it’s literally been on my to read list for YEARS and in my bookshelf for one year, so it’s long overdue!), so when I’m done with that (tomorrow or so), I’ll make her watch that (thankfully she likes David Tennant so it won’t be too hard)
What music are you listening to?
Right now? The radio! In general? A very wide variety! I’ve recently been on a One Direction kick again, listened to the Wise Guys (German acapella band) on the last longer car trip, and to listen to while working, I like Tchaikovsky’s ballets best!
What are you reading?
I last read (respectively reread) Cornelia Funke’s Reckless series, and am currently reading Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman (and loving it - which was to be expected, but still, I love it!)
On the fandom side I’ve been working through Trilliath’s (Sterek) fics again (and they are brilliant, which I knew, but am still amazed at, and you should all go read them!!!) and, since I rewatched Inception, Arthur/Eames fic!
What are you doing for self-care?
Gardening and sewing! My tomatoes are ripening every day and the roses are making a small comeback, and I’ve saved the dhalias from the snails for once and they are very pretty! Sewing wise I’m reworking an old dress from my grandma and sewing a new one for myself (going to try to work that one in a way that allows me to not wear a bra underneath). I also got some really pretty (and cheap, because faulty) red wool for a winter jacket or cape today, which I’m super excited about! (It’s so prettyyyy)
Tagging anyone who’d like to do this! Tag me if you do it, I’m curious :D

Barker Blood lines of Witches Story
Special thanks to George and Dorothea Barker, and Karen, Laurie, Beth, Dianne and Sam, for their help and generosity researching
