Then I realized they only typed out the accent for the male characters and women's dialogue was written normally, which was even more annoying because I'm 99% certain that the Scottish accent is not a sexually dimorphic trait...

man im just like. thinking about egg signs and how they've evolved over the course of the qsmp and how the qsmp has evolved over the course of the qsmp and just feeling so much love and affection for every part of the project. i dont have any grand overarching point with this just. like. here's a history of egg comms bc of the kind of person that i am

so wayyyy back ten months ago now at the start of the short and sweet egg event that was planned to last maybe a month at most, the eggs had their own custom, decorated signs!

They were extremely simple, single word signs. There was hello, hola, story, feed, sleep, and maybe one or two more and each was its own separate sign. The eggs could only communicate the most basic needs in words and everything else was through minecraft body language or just hoping their parents guessed right.

But obviously, there was a lot more that parents wanted to hear from their children. I'm not sure who was actually first, but the earliest departure from this system I know about is BadBoyHalo giving Dapper a simple oak sign so he could name his pet slime. (Screenshot from @/lxrd-ren)

Parents quickly realized how much more convenient this was and pretty soon every single egg had stacks of signs to communicate with.

The next innovation came from Vegetta, who was the resident mod knower at the time. He knew about colored canvas signs and gave Leo signs in her favorite color purple because he loved her and gave her everything she wanted.

Colored signs obviously had a lot of advantages. Being able to tell at a glance which egg placed which sign was a huge step forward in eggs being able to have long, complicated conversations as well as leaving obvious marks of their personality everywhere they went. It took a little while for them to be standard for every egg though. Bobby never stopped using oak signs even after Richas and Pomme both showed up with colored signs.

And this was the system for a while! And it worked pretty well for most people! The biggest struggle most people had was egg signs not being translated, but streamers adjusted to that by reading signs out loud so the translators would pick up on them. This also lead to adorable and fascinating dynamics like Richas swearing in signs he wrote for Bad and then warning Bad not to read them out. There was also the genuinely phenomenal development of Leolingo where Leo writes only in Spanish to Foolish because it's easier for her to write and he takes his time to puzzle his way through it and learn in a way that's super cool to watch someone else do onscreen.

Then Tubbo joined the server. And Tubbo himself had no problems at all with the system, but he is dyslexic and he casually mentioned offhand that it was getting kind of annoying to read signs after a ten hour long stream and the admin team Fucking Cooked.

Within 24 hours, they had TTS working on the signs. Within 48 hours, it was working on books too. I can't remember how long it took to get translation working, but it was definitely under a week.

And this opened up a whole new world of possibilities for the entire QSMP. The admin team has been on top of capitalizing on it for story purposes, but also just allowing the egg admins to speak in their native languages to everyone whenever they want has been so enriching for everyone involved. Leolingo is awesome but Foolish has been learning Spanish insanely fast and his process is a lot slower and more frustrating than most people can do in front of an audience of thousands of people without feeling discouraged. That's also one language. We've had everything from Foolish being able to check his work a bit more faster to Phil insisting on his eggs taking a day to speak to him in their native languages to Ramón writing a book for Fit in Cantonese, a language we haven't even seen on the server in any other context!

And all of it is fully understood and fully communicated! Sometimes the translators mess up but no one expects them to be perfect and people ask for clarification if the translator says something that doesn't sound right. It's not only a massive step forward in communication technology, but it's a great demonstration of how to use it and when you can and can't rely on it.

And finally, the most recent innovation! One of BBH's viewers sent him a dono saying they had trouble reading certain signs because they were too low-contrast. Bad, Richas, and Pomme just. Took it upon themselves to fix the problem right there and then. Based on One (1) bringing up their own personal struggle, those three came up with new signs that innovate tremendously on the originals.

There are three main innovations visible in the above pictures

1: Obviously, the colors are higher contrast. The signs with white text have darker colors and the signs with black text have lighter colors.

2: The colors themselves are lower saturation. Richas said this made it easier for him personally to read them so he corrected that way, but that's open to change if it causes difficulties for more people than it helps

3: The decorations are for accessibility reasons! People with various different forms of colorblindness will find different sets of colors easier or harder to distinguish, but any of them can look at the decorations and use them to identify whose sign is whose instead.

But! Those innovations are not why I made this post! It's these ones!

Richas added distinguishing marks to the backs of the signs too! This is something that Bad brought up specifically as something he wanted because it was hard for him to tell who was talking when he was using TTS from behind signs and couldn't see the colors at all.

We went from custom egg signs (a hotbar or so of words and nothing else to communicate with) through a long journey of expanding communication and expanding who we're bringing along on the communication and how easily they can join in and we've circled all the way back around to custom egg signs (they can say anything they want in any language they want and anyone will know it's them saying it from any angle)

My Julie and The Phantoms headcanons (Sunset Curve Edition)

Reggie is a disaster bi

Luke is pansexual

Reggie has had a secret crush on Luke since the 90s but has been quite good at hiding it (Well, at least up until the Chemistry scene in Ep7)

Reggie comes from an abusive household (not necessarily physically, could be emotionally abusive)

Reggie has nightmares and the boys have had to help him through them many times

Alex’s parents are religious (their reason for not accepting Alex being gay) and therefore Alex has issues relating to religion

Luke’s parents used to let Reggie stay over whenever he needed, and they were kinda aware of his situation but never wanted to pressure Reggie into talking about it

Bobby also let the boys sleep in the studio if they couldn’t go back to their own houses (cause I think we all came to conclusion that Julie’s house used to be Bobby’s)

Alex, Bobby, and Reggie had their driver’s licenses, but Luke didn’t cause he kept failing the test.

Reggie has Inattentive Type ADHD and Luke has Hyperactive Type ADHD (Not Sunset Curve related but I also headcanon that Willie has Combined Type ADHD)

Alex is autistic and has general anxiety disorder

Reggie is dyslexic but is really good at maths

Luke was really good at English in school

Alex can draw really well and used to do it a lot in his spare time

Reggie is still slightly innocent and childlike because his childhood was mostly full of trauma, so he’s making up for it in his teens/as a ghost.

The boys had to have “The Talk” with Reggie (which was probably very awkward) because his parents were too busy fighting with each other, and Reggie never paid attention in health class.

Alex wanted to know how to do the cool drumstick twirl in his hand and practiced it for hours, sometimes even until his hand cramped. He dropped the stick many times and also hit himself in the face a few times, but eventually got the hang of it. He was so proud of himself when he finally mastered it and immediately showed it off to the boys at band practice.

Luke wanted to be able to swing his guitar around his body. He finally learnt how to do it. Though not without breaking many straps, and a few trips to the ER after smacking himself in the back of the head with his guitar.

Reggie has an attachment to Ray because Ray is the father figure that Reggie needed. The father figure that Reggie never had.

The boys can all speak a different language (based on the actors). Alex speaks German, Luke speaks French, and Bobby speaks Filipino. I headcanon that Reggie can speak Italian (idk why but I do haha).

Luke is actually Canadian amd moved to America as a kid, but died before he could lose his accent.

Both Alex's parents and Reggie's parents are conservative. They probably voted Trump in both 2016 and 2020. Unless Alex's parents changed their views after his death.

Bobby’s parents are very liberal, and both Reggie’s parents and Alex’s parents don't like them. Though the Pattersons got along well with all of them cause they refused to talk about politics (though they are probably liberal like Bobby's parents just not as extreme).

i think the nurse was there for bobby when his family died (his wife surely must have been in the burn unit) and now reconnecting with him helps him get over his loss (step 9) cause i genuinely do not want to see a BURN UNIT NURSE try to set bucks apartment on fire with buck inside (ashes, ashes) and everyone trying to save him (all fall down) with eddies parents coming to look after chris when he stays by unconcious bucks side 24/7

I would LOVE for the Amir (the burn unit nurse) to be someone who was a nurse for Bobby's wife before she passed. I think Bobby having to face that would be really harrowing emotionally.

Seeing him with a burn on his face makes me think that maybe he was in the apartment fire himself, but that could be a red herring to make us think he was in that fire but he was in a different fire and that's why he became a burn unit nurse.

The burn unit nurse burns down a building just doesn't really sit right with me and it especially doesn't sit right if he's trying to get revenge on Bobby for what he lost. I feel like if he was going to do that route he'd burn down Bobby's house or the fire station, not Buck's apartment.

I'm honestly, just SO excited for this arc for Bobby. I am a huge Malcolm-Jamal Warner fan and have been since i was a kid. The of the Cosby show where Theo Huxtable was diagnosed with dyslexia genuinely changed my life (I'm mildly dyslexic and seeing a character that I really loved with the same struggles as me was huge)

Anyway, yeah. I'm not a huge fan of some of the theories I've seen floating around, but people are having fun and that's what matters.

I'm personally team Amir is an emotional arc for Bobby and maybe helps him heal and helps him understand that the fire wasn't his fault. It may have started because of a space heater he was using, but it never should have gotten that out of control - it was the building owner who didn't keep the building up to code that allowed the fire to spread.

Or maybe Amir is angry at Bobby because of the fire. Maybe Bobby needs to ask him for forgiveness too. Maybe Amir is the start of Bobby truly getting into Step 9 and making amends.

But whatever is coming, I'm buckled in.

Since I don’t have anyone irl to brainrot to about qsmp I’m writing it here  SO here are my qsmp headcanons that have little to no proof  at all !!!  btw every time i quote something just know that it is from the qsmp wiki

Because Trump was very good at math and Leo wasn't, he would help her with homework (they were also best friends)

Since Trump was very shy, Leo would have to drag him to play with the other eggs but she and trump would often take brakes during playtime when trump felt overwhelmed and Leo would stay with him until he calmed down

Both Trump and Bobby are very round, almost spherical

The reason Fit spoils Ramon so much is because he is sorry for letting him die and now that he has one life left, Fit wants his son to have the best life possible even tho this is making Ramon kinda snobbish

Ramon is lazy because he is scared of going outside. He would rather sleep and stay inside then risk dyeing again. The reason he began going outside besides making his dad less worried is because of  Dapper and Chayanne. But after the kidnaping he is worse then ever. Being scared to even leave his room if fit isn't besides him Because of this, Ramon and Dapper are working on a construction so they can communicate even when they're apart. Chayanne tries to help but, because he doesn't know anything about redstone, he mostly stand to the side and tries not to brake anything

Dapper was a bigger and taller egg then Leo and he would make fun of her for being little. But after hatching, Leo got his dads godly height and is now much taller then dapper and is CONSTANTLY making fun of them

Since Leonarda is dyslexic(and trump can't help them anymore) she has Dapper help her with homework and insist on paying him even tho he told her multiple times that it isn't necessary. In the end Dapper accepts the money but later he gives it to Foolish

Chayanne wants to be like his brother Techno so he dies his hair pink and often tries to talk to the other kind about anarchy before quickly getting stopped by the adults. He is very attached to all the eggs and sees them as his siblings and would do anything to protect them

Richarlyson and Bobby often get into fights before Chayanne has to break them up. After the initial rocky start to their friendship, they became good friend but still keep up a fake rivalry, but the truth is that they deeply care and admire each other. When they fight, the other eggs bet on who would be the winner with Ramon and Leo being the ones that bets the most Richarlyson is the "baby" of the group and he likes that Bobby doesn't treat him like a little kid

Tallulah, just like Chayanne, cares deeply about family. She tries to find out more about Willburs history, but is met with vague answers  that don't satisfy her. She tries to learn as much about the other eggs as possible, even the ones that aren't here anymore and tries to honor them as much as she can. The reason Tallulah beanie red is because she learn that Tilins ribbon was red and wanted to make Quackity a little happier Her taste buds are fucked up because she ate dirt for so long so now she can't taste things She also writes songs about the other eggs

Tilins always wears her ribbon, resulting in it getting very dirty very fast but she still refused to take it down. Quackity has to steal it while she sleeps in order to wash it. But he also has a drawer full of identical red ribbons in case the one that she is currently wearing gets desrtoyed

Flippa is the most extroverted out of the eggs and is always daring the egg to to dangerous things. When Quackity would leave Tilin alone, Flippa would be there to comfort her because she understood what it felt like to not have your parents pay attention to you Slime and Mariana would often fight and would leave the house to cool down, leaving Flippa alone She was the elder queer of the eggs and would help them navigate there gender identity and helping them to come out

ALL of the eggs have autism. Their specials interests being: Tilin - guns, fashion Juanaflippa - bombs, gymnastics Leonarda - photography, building Dapper - reading, animals, collecting stuff Tallulah - music, history Chayanne - combat, potatoes Bobby - combat, painting Richalyson - football      Trump - politics, weapons  Ramon - animals, redstone

he cries a lot, like a lot a lot

his eye makeup is always a mess to the point he looks weird without mascara smudged around his eyes

he's also an absentminded nailbiter and gets into a lot of bother with Pike, Percy and Vex over it - he can't help it, sometimes he needs to chew on something and his nails just so happen to be there!

he's also a leg bouncer, can't sit still for over 5 minutes - he has to be moving, doing something even if its just sharpening his knives or silly coin tricks

he gets zoomies a lot, his sweet tooth and constant snacking on sugary treats probably don't help this, so he will just go running around in the woods with his Boots of Haste on

also he has the worst sweet tooth ever, he has a pouch of never ending sour gummy worms he's always eating and he loves devouring massive chocolate bars in seconds

he likes doing repetitive tasks like stacking objects or organising them into rows, baking lots of one thing, spinning around and reciting the five times table on a loop

he's ashamed of his ears and tends to hide them under his hair using bobby pins or under hooded cloaks, but he thinks Vex and Keyleth look great with their ears out on display

he's right handed but left footed - i headcanon he lost his right leg as a kid, so he learned to rely on his left leg over time

thinking about dyslexic and dyscalculiac Vax struggling in school, bullied by his peers and his teachers alike, to the point he starts skipping school

thinking about transgender Vax struggling with imposter syndrome, he looks in the mirror and sees a mixture of his father and the girl he's sure everyone else sees him as, and he wears a magic choker to mask how his voice sounds because naturally he sounds almost identical to Vex

i imagine he has many scars that he's ashamed of, but he could never be ashamed of his top surgey scars - whenever his dysphoria spikes, he gets alone and takes his tunic off so he can trace the scars and remind himself of how far he's come

thinking about Gilmore being the one to have made Vax's choker for him... hnnnn...

thinking about Vax and Gilmore getting together, always touching and kissing and trying to stay near to each other

its a rather asexual relationship still, i see Vax as sexually repulsed, but maybe on occasion they try it out - they stop if it gets too much for Vax, which happens most of the time, but they don't always need to stop some nights

thinking about Vax as a dad, he'd be so anxious and unsure of himself but he's a natural and easily bonds with the kid/s

he loves carrying them around, holding them close when he does things around the house - it helps that his baby turns into a koala when they're held

Vax learning new recipes to feed the baby with, Shaun helping him in the kitchen

oh gods, Vax and Shaun both love cooking so much, they're always making leftovers to hand out to friends and family

So this is one I came up with ages in ago with help from the polyshipping server and never got around to writing bc it got overshadowed by my other sunset skater arranged marriage au.

Basically the plot is that King Caleb Covington has two problems: His royal bards keep quitting on him and his son keeps scaring off suitors. The solution? Make the next royal bard marry Willie so they can't leave, no matter how intolerable they find either Covington. Except Willie finds out about the plan and throws a fit (as he should) so Caleb agrees to a compromise: he'll hold a competition, so Willie gets to choose his future spouse as long as they meet Caleb's musical standards

Enter Sunset Curve, who are amped at the chance to play for royalty. They do not realize it's meant to be a singular bard competition. Bobby's dyslexic and read the flyer as "band" not "bard." They're so charming and overwhelming that the people running the entries let them in because you try saying no to the full combined force of Luke and Reggie's puppy eyes, okay?

Anyways, Willie sees this band and chooses Sunset Curve as the winners because checkmate, Caleb, there's four of them, what're you gonna do now? And Caleb's just like. Okay. You'll marry all four. Which is... not what Willie was expecting. So now Willie has four new husbands he's never actually spoken to and dammit they're actually kind of cute but he can't fall for them because that would be letting Caleb win.

Spoiler alert he totally falls for them and they live happily ever after the end
