Story Summary: After a fight with Lavender, Hermione is sentenced to 100 hours of community service at Hogwarts, part of a new program designed to mend post-war wounds. To no surprise, Draco is also serving time. Forced to work together, their old rivalries are tested, and a slow romance starts to brew following a strange storm. 8th year.

I wanted to bring that sense of elegance and romance to life by weaving in floral elements and ornate architecture, creating a modern interpretation of the style. Inspired by Manacled by @senlinyu I aimed to capture a blend of beauty and darkness, where passion blooms even in the most desolate places. This artwork plays on Art Nouveau themes to evoke a timeless, almost ethereal atmosphere, balancing both hope and melancholy.✨️

We lost the beautiful David Lynch while I’ve been working on this chapter- and truthfully news of his loss hit me a lot harder than I thought. I loved his stories and the way he saw the world. If you're a fan, you've probably noticed the Twin Peaks themes in my fic- a lot of the music I feature in the chapter titles on instagram is from Twin Peaks. And many of the chapter titles themselves are quotes from the show. This chapter is based on the song ‘No Stars’ by Rebekah Del Rio who appeared in a Roadhouse performance in season 3 ("a perfect season of television” - to quote my partner.)

This chapter to me, is about grief and loss and the ache of losing the people we love the most with our whole hearts and how terribly lonely that feeling is.

PLOT:

Facts are things considered to be known or proven true. Take for example; Draco Malfoy.

Prat? Known. Brilliant Potions Professor? Proven true.

Annoyingly handsome and capable of using every opportunity he had to get on her nerves? Known and proven true.

When the Headmaster is forced to early retirement due to a family emergency, the position is open to the rest of the faculty. The Minister, Chief Warlock, and the Director for Wizarding Education will be ranking the staff, and the number one professor will be named Headmaster. She could see it now. Hermione Granger: Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The problem? Draco Malfoy was also vying for the position, if nothing, but to irritate her. Follow both Professors on their academic journey as they try to sabotage each other while also finding out that they might not be so different after all.

Fact: There is a thin line between love and hate.

Decades after the second Wizarding World War, Draco cares for his ailing wife. Deemed a liability by the Order, they abandoned her. Furious at being cast aside, Hermione began the hunt for the Death Eater bearing a mask crowned with thorns and roses, the one who'd cursed her. Every attempt to find the Death Eater threw her into increasingly violent duels with only Draco left to witness her self-destruction. Nothing tethered her to who she had been, and Draco continued to tend her wounds. He became the one constant in her life. Traumatised by the fragility of human life, Hermione fought their growing attachment. While navigating the brand new world she had crudely carved for herself, she realised she wouldn't have survived without Draco's ever-present, unconditional care. Faced with the challenge of integrating who she had been and who she had become, Hermione learned that war didn't just change her, but everyone else she'd loved before, and everyone she'd grown to love. In the present, Draco and Hermione relive everything. Every deed Hermione had ever done, every life she'd ever taken. They have to. There are rumours growing in the Wizarding World. Lord Voldemort isn't dead. The key to his annihilation is hidden in Hermione's lost memories.

It's been 2 years, and I can't thank this community enough. I love writing this fic, I love drawing for this fic. And I can literally track my growth as a writer through it.
