Jaguars leave London with a win over the Patriots.
Tumblr media

Date: October 20, 2024
If there was a Loser Bowl, this would be it.
New England flew to London to play the Jacksonville Jaguars, who, coming into this game, are by far the worst teas in the league this season, both at 1-5. However, the Patriots have some momentum in that game as rookie quarterback Drake Maye starts his second game. He threw 3 touchdowns in his first start last week vs. the Houston Texans.
After the New England Patriots got off to a hot start, leading the Jacksonville Jaguars 10-0, with Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye throwing a connecting to running back JaMycal Hasty for a 16-yard score, and Joey Slye's 41 yards field goal, The Jaguars outscored the Patriots 32-6, winning with a score 32-16.
Jaguars were without starting running back Travis Etienne; running back Tanks Bigsby filled the void, rushing for 118 yards on 26 carries and 2 touchdowns, and while Bigbsy needed rest, running back D'Ernest Johnson recorded 12 touches for 70 total yards. Rookie wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. hauled in 5 catches for 89 yards and a touchdown.
Jacksonville scored 22 points in the second quarter, including a 97-yard punt return touchdown by kick returner Parker Washington, putting Jacksonville up 22-10 at halftime. This was the longest punt return for a touchdown in Jaguars franchise history.
Patriots quarterback Drake Maye finished with 276 yards, completing 26 of his 37 pass attempts and 2 touchdowns, but it wasn't enough to secure the Patriots' win.
Rushing game issues continue for the Patriots, only rushing for a mere 38 yards, averaging 2.5 yards per carry. One of the more significant issues for New England.
To add insult to injury, The New England Patriots have endured their first 6 games losing streak for the first time since 1993.
As both teams head back to the States, The New England Patriots are 1-6 and host the subpar New York Jets, while the Jacksonville Jaguars fly back home to carry any momentum from this game at 2-5  and host the Green Bay Packers.

2024 NFL Storylines
Now that rosters have trimmed down to 53, for the most part, it's time to finally look ahead to the NFL season which begins Thursday September 5th. We all know that sports brings about drama that keeps us glued to the tv each and every weekend of the season, this NFL season won't be any different. With that in mind, I will give you my storylines to watch this season.
1. Super Bowl or Bust - These are teams that I feel realistically have pressure to get it done this season:
Baltimore Ravens - They have the reigning MVP, a top 5 defense that returns mostly everyone and added Derrick Henry over the offseason. They made the AFC title game last year but came up small, especially offensively, it's safe to ask can they get it done? Lamar has 2 MVPs and 2 playoff wins, enough said.
Kansas City Chiefs - They are going for a three-peat and with that rarified air, as they would be the first to complete the feat. It doesn't hurt that they have the best QB in the league, they also added Xavier Worthy and Hollywood Brown to a WR core that hasn't even been all that dynamic the past couple of seasons.
San Francisco 49ers - The offseason saga with Trent Williams and Brandon Aiyuk's contract highlights the fact that they have some serious decisions coming up very soon. They have Deebo Samuel and Brock Purdy, who will be looking for new deals next offseason, they also lost in the Super Bowl last season. Could this be a last stand for this group?
Philadelphia Eagles - This team was just in the Super Bowl 2 years ago but took a step back last season. They have locked up their WRs and have taken steps to fix their secondary which was a major problem last season. They replaced both coordinators last season who were held accountable for the slide in performance. Nick Sirianni would technically be the next to go if this season doesn't pan out.
2. Young QBs thrust into the spotlight - Looking around the league, we are seeing that a good number of teams are pinning the direction of their season on the success or failure of unproven QBs.
Caleb Williams (Bears), Jayden Daniels (Commanders) and Bo Nix (Broncos) will be starting from week 1. JJ McCarthy seemingly was on pace to possibly be the starter with the Vikings, before he went down with a season ending knee injury. Drake Maye could very well take over the starting job at some point this season from Jacoby Brissett for the Patriots.
We also have guys in CJ Stroud (Texans), Bryce Young (Panthers), Jordan Love (Packers), Will Levis (Titans), Anthony Richardson (Colts) who are entering the season with varying experience from this past season but are still developing in their second season as starters.
We are looking at 1/3 of the league with young guys at the most important position on the field, how many of them could take their team to the playoffs this season?
3. Who makes the quick turnaround - In 19 of the last 21 years at least one team has gone from finishing last in the division the season before to division champs the following season. With that in mind, who is most likely to pull off the feat this year.
Cincinnati Bengals (AFC North) went 9-8 last year in a season where Burrow missed time and dealt with an injured wrist, if Burrow stays healthy this season they could absolutely pull it off.
Tennessee Titans (AFC South) went 6-11 last season but have done a great job in improving the roster this offseason, if Will Levis continues to improve then they could be the team that challenges the Texans this year for the AFC South crown.
Chicago Bears (NFC North) were a 7-10 team last season after a good finish to the season, they seemingly have their guy in Caleb Williams to run what they believe will be an improved offense. The defense has some pieces as well but not completely sold on coach Eberflus.
The other teams that finished last in their divisions were the New England Patriots (AFC East), LA Chargers (AFC West), Washington Commanders (NFC East), Arizona Cardinals (NFC West) and Carolina Panthers (NFC South).
With every season there are so many storylines that will play out so these are just 3 for you to monitor over the course of the 2024-2025 season. We are just days away from the season starting so strap in and get to the edge of your seat, the fun is about to start.
Make sure to give me a follow and check out my other content on my blog page. You can also follow me over @passionandprecision as well with my friend/co-host @jorissportsstories who you can also follow for her great content as well.

Jerod Mayo doubles down on QB plan against Bills
FOXBOROUGH — During his media conference Wednesday, Patriots coach Jerod Mayo reiterated his stance on whether or not he would start. Drake Maye given the concern of injuries as well as the possibility of getting the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 draft with a loss. First, Mayo indicated that Maye, who suffered a head injury during Saturday’s loss to the LA Chargers, was “healthy” and would be at…

Patriots plan to start No. 3 overall pick Drake Maye over Jacoby Brissett vs. Texans
The switch from the veteran Brissett to the rookie Maye comes after the nine-year vet completed 52.9% of his passes for 160 yards in a 15-10 loss to an injury-plagued Miami Dolphins team on Sunday. The Patriots’ passing offense is dead last in the league, with Brissett having yet to throw for 200 yards in a game and connecting for just two touchdown passes. Following a stunning season-opening…

🏈League of Leagues Week 3 Recaps🏉
Tumblr media
This week we do a slight change in our recap arrangement.
We begin with NFL Smackdown with the week 3️⃣ theme.
Then we have the other 3️⃣ recaps under one NFL Special. Have a drink 🥃for that one.
Update:
CBS Challenge League
Tumblr media
Taurean was unable to join this year as he was abroad but Jermaine, Laura, and myself joined this 12team - standard scoring league. The app sucks. The scoring sucks. The waivers suck. Boring bland and basic but also challenging. No fantasy players for the Core 4 have been able to win it. Jermaine made it to the superbowl last year and Laura the year before. I believe I did previous to Laura.
The 4 of us have tried for years to challenge ourselves to win this CBS league. In doing so we have beat the ultimate challenge in our eyes.
Will any of us succeed?
Fantrax Experimental League
Tumblr media
This league is set up is to experiment with different scoring rules and roster set up (3 QBs for instances). This allows a sneak peak into tweaks for Core 4 Leagues looking to improve or change things up if they so choose. All the Core 4 league owners participate (except T this year).
FleaFlicker Random League For Bragging Rights
Tumblr media
This is the pseudo *5th* League for those who want to diversify League formats/apps. Basically a random League to win (not for a physical prize) but to brag they won in addition or in spite of losing in the Core 4.
💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠
As for last weeks recaps I didn't have time to do a NFL Division breakdown for the ILL-FL so going to do one here prior to the recaps.
The week before was an AFC North Breakdown
🏉<Can you name the 4 starting AFC QBs?>🏉
Tumblr media
Now we explore my thoughts on the NFC East Division. (Click video below for the recap)🔹️
1.) NY Giants🏈
Tumblr media
The G-Men have had a rough go.
First and foremost, the loss of Barkley to a division rival was something so unforseen - it truly shocked the NFL in the off-season. He was the most talented player and was nearly the Giants entire offense last year.
Seems the HBO HardKnocks had a glimpse of what this franchise was intending to do by trying to package Daniel Jones in a trade before a draft to get from the 6th pick to the 3rd from the Patriots to acquire Drake Maye. It was obvious. Unfortunately for the NY Football Giants, the trade details couldn't get hammered out and thus they went for arguably one of the best WRs in this year's class (Nabers).
Although the Giants opted *regrettably* to keep Jones over an RB (someone had to get the big bucks and RB injury history may have spooked them to inact that transaction) they had to go with the league climate of signing a "capable" quarterback. This move, signing Jones 27 yr old, who's health injuries have piled up for himself, has put Giants fans in a tizzy.
The move could prove disastrous for the G-Men.
Dabol doesn't seem to have the same pulse of the team or he simply can't reproduce the same magic from his initial season there.
IF the Giants falter this season, who do they draft?
Jones is in the early phase of his $160 million contract, the franchise pushed off for so long, they seem to have trapped themselves in cap hell.
2.) WASHINGTON COMMANDERS🏛
Tumblr media
🔺️Looking for a Commanders gif to replace 🔺️
The Washington Commanders have not done much in the off-season. Most of the moves involved the coaching staff.
The Commanders picked up Kliff Kingsbury (formerly of the AZ Cardinals). Hopefully he can coach up the rookie high draft of Jayden Daniels.
Speaking of Jayden, he has shown some moxy in his first few games. Especially in the Monday Night primitive spotlight. Daniels has shown a propensity to throw in the middle of the field and short routes. His first 2 games only saw a long of less the 30 yards. Not sure if that's causal play calling from Kliff or rookie growing pains. Daniels is a runner but needs to work on his sliding (forward body slides are a bad look).
Dan Quinn is the other piece to this team as the head coach. His defensive minded tendencies could help bring a toughness to a team, that a year ago, sent off their best defensive players in Chase Young & Montez Sweat. Talk about cooking with little ingredients smh.
Terry is still the WR #1 and should have gotten the target funnel - especially after shipping Jahan Dotson to inner division rivalnthe Eagles (see G-Men recap above doing the same with Barkley).
The tightend position wasn't addressed except the acquisition of Zach Ertz who may be seeing the winding down of his career but can still.bring valuable play if healthy. With the TE low productivity across the league, he actually is viable.
Brian Robinson Jr becomes the #1 RB but he is strictly a downhill runner. The pick up of Ekeler has done wonders (even if he has been reduced to the scat-back/satellite RB pass catcher position).
There is definitely an upside to this team. Deeper fantasy Leagues are keeping an eye on Dayami Brown and overall, this team can surprise this season.
3.) PHILLY EAGLES 🦅
Tumblr media
The Eagles have mostly retained thier team from the previous year.
There was certainly a slight regression from Hurts 1st year. This year, it seems, a defensive regression is more prevalent. Eagles can be scored on. The back end of the defense is susceptible. They don't get a tone of pressure up front either.
Hurts isn't running as much but the passing game has an uptick with healthy WRs AJ & Smith. BUT, now both WRs are out. Could TE Goedert be the beneficiary like he was in week 3? The newly acquired Jahan Dotson may be their only surefire starting WR but he was traded (in division) for a reason.
Nick (the coach) seems to be outsmarting himself in certain instances in game.
The Eagles main new weapon in Barkley has given them the firepower to overcome the self destructive ways that often have in games. Barkley has shown a new vigor and is seemingly renewed in his energy. It's visible.
The Eagles are still a premier team... but barely.
4.) DALLAS COWBOYS 🤠
Tumblr media
How bout dem Cowboys?
Yea it hasn't been great. Aside from the opener, Cowboys have faltered. They have pieces, but is it enough? Can the Cowboys meet expectations?
Dak is still doing his thing and finally got paid right before the season began.
Ceedee Lamb could be argued the #1 WR in the league (Jefferson fans are furious). He is flanked by Brandon Cooks who is not top.tier he used to be but can move the chains. The eye is on Tolbert, the youngin who has shown flashes.
The problem is the RB position. Pollard went to the Titans and now Cowboys had to rely on aging vets Zeek and Dalvin Cook. Dowdell has juice but not sure if he can produce as the every down back.
TE and Kicker especially is still on par for this team. Aubrey is now the best kicker in the league. This guy kicks 50 yard fgs for breakfast.
The defense has been exploited. Even with Diggs and Parsons, Cowboys can be run on. With a leaky defense, the previous strength of this team may be their Achilles heel.
Now onto the recaps of week 3. Hope you all enjoy 👏🏾

2024's Top NFL Rookie QBs: Touchdown Famine Raises Eyebrows
By: Joseph Correa
The 2024 NFL Draft was heralded as a quarterback bonanza, with six signal-callers selected in the first 12 picks. However, as we approach Week 3 of the NFL season, these young gunslingers have found themselves in uncharted waters – and not in a good way.
The Touchdown Drought
The 2024 quarterback class has yet to throw a single touchdown pass through the first two weeks of the season. This dubious distinction includes three Week 1 starters: Caleb Williams (Chicago Bears), Jayden Daniels (Washington Commanders), and Bo Nix (Denver Broncos). Together, they've accumulated a staggering 196 pass attempts without finding the end zone through the air – an NFL record for rookies to begin a season, according to Opta Stats.
Individual Performances
Caleb Williams: Baptism by Fire
The Bears' No. 1 overall pick, Caleb Williams, has had a baptism by fire. Behind a porous offensive line, Williams has been sacked nine times, tied for the league high. His stats tell a grim tale:
267 passing yards
2 interceptions
0 touchdowns
Pressured on 43.2% of dropbacks (3rd highest in NFL)
30.4% completion rate under pressure (worst in NFL)
21.8 passer rating versus pressure
Williams is on the verge of joining an exclusive club he'd rather avoid. Only three No. 1 overall pick quarterbacks have failed to throw a touchdown pass in their first three games: Terry Bradshaw, Michael Vick, and Alex Smith. While this doesn't spell doom for Williams' career – all three of those quarterbacks had successful NFL tenures – it's certainly not the start he or Bears fans envisioned.
Jayden Daniels: A Silver Lining
Of the rookie starters, Jayden Daniels has shown the most promise. While he hasn't thrown a touchdown, his overall performance has been encouraging:
410 passing yards
0 interceptions
132 rushing yards
2 rushing touchdowns
Daniels has made history as the first rookie quarterback drafted in the first round to amass over 500 total yards without a turnover in his first two career starts since 1970. His dual-threat capabilities have been on full display, providing a glimmer of hope for Washington fans.
Bo Nix: Turnover Troubles
Denver's Bo Nix has struggled with ball security, throwing four interceptions in just two games – tied for the league lead. His stats paint a picture of a quarterback finding his footing:
384 passing yards
59.7% completion rate
4 interceptions
0 passing touchdowns
1 rushing touchdown
60 rushing yards
Nix's 0-to-4 touchdown-to-interception ratio is currently the worst in the NFL, a concerning start for the Broncos' new signal-caller.
The Waiting Game
While Williams, Daniels, and Nix have been thrust into the spotlight, their draft classmates are still waiting in the wings. Drake Maye (New England Patriots) and Michael Penix Jr. (Atlanta Falcons) have yet to take a regular-season snap, while J.J. McCarthy's (Minnesota Vikings) season ended prematurely due to a preseason knee injury.
Looking Ahead
It's crucial to remember that we're only two weeks into these young quarterbacks' NFL careers. The transition from college to the pros is notoriously difficult, and many successful NFL quarterbacks have struggled early in their careers.
As we look ahead to Week 3, all eyes will be on Williams, Daniels, and Nix to see if one can break the touchdown drought. Their development throughout the season will be a fascinating storyline as they navigate the challenges of the NFL and work to justify their lofty draft positions.
While it's far too early to make definitive judgments about the future of these young quarterbacks, their rocky start serves as a reminder of the steep learning curve in the NFL. As history has shown us time and again, early struggles don't necessarily predict long-term failure. The true measure of these quarterbacks will be how they respond to adversity and grow throughout their rookie campaigns.

[ad_1] Commercial content 21+. Ohio University’s offense could be special in 2023.  Kurtis Rourke suffered a season-ending knee injury late last season, but he’s fully healthy and confirmed to start for Saturday’s season opener at San Diego State. The little brother of Ohio legend Nathan Rourke, Kurtis could end his career as the more productive Rourke brother. He ranked second in college football in Pro Football Focus’ passing grades last year (behind Drake Maye), finishing with 3,200 yards, 25 touchdowns and only four picks in 11 games.  Rourke’s efforts earned him the MAC Player of the Year award — much deserved if you ask me.  Everything came together for the Bobcats around Rourke last season. Tim Albin won MAC Coach of the Year honors, and the Bobcats won 10 games. If Rourke hadn’t hurt his knee, Ohio likely would’ve beaten Toledo in the MAC title game.  This season, nine starters return to the offensive side of the ball, including Rourke, MAC Freshman of the Year RB Sieh Bangura (1,304 yards from scrimmage, 15 TDs), and first-team All-MAC WR Sam Wiglusz (73 receptions, 877 yards, 11 touchdowns).  Kurtis RourkeGetty Images Behind Wiglusz, this is arguably the best receiving room in the conference. Ohio lost only one receiver in the offseason, bringing back Miles Cross (560 yards, 47 receptions, three TDs) and TE Tyler Foster to pair alongside their top option.  The offensive line struggled through injuries last season, so it could take a step forward. The unit lost three guys with a combined 37 career FBS starts, but essentially it needs only to replace RG Hagan Meservy.  Several veteran upperclassmen are ready to step into big roles upfront. Expect the line to improve because of experience.  These Bobs will score, and I expect them to catch San Diego State off balance in Week 1 as 2.5-point underdogs.  Jalen MaydenGetty Images The Aztecs lost five starters on defense, including their top three tacklers and top four tackles-for-loss leaders. They lost six key pieces in the first two levels — three on the line and three from the linebacking unit — and may struggle to generate their usual pressure.  Kurt Mattix is an elite defensive coordinator who should whip this unit into shape. But that may take time, and I doubt the Aztecs put on their best defensive show on Day 1 against an electric Ohio attack.  There are concerns about Ohio’s defense, but it will have only one job here: Contain Jalen Mayden.  The safety-turned-quarterback is boom-or-bust. Mayden is an athletic dual-action quarterback who can create explosive plays by himself, but he also had five big-time throws to 12 turnover-worthy plays — two of PFF’s passing metrics — last year. If Mayden can’t create independently, it’s hard to see where points will come from.  Betting on College Football? The Aztecs were brutal on the offensive line last season (126th in line yards, 129th in stuff rate, 92nd in sack rate allowed), and while it projects to be better, the line will be far from elite.  There are quality skill-position players out wide and in the backfield, but we can’t trust Mayden to consistently get the ball to his best guys.  Plus, SDSU is working with a new offensive coordinator, Ryan Lindley. The former Aztecs quarterback — and all-time program leader in passing yards — was a quarterbacks coach there last season. Still, I don’t expect this offense to click perfectly in the non-con, especially as Lindley tries to introduce a more pass-happy attack (the Aztecs should pass more).  I expect Rourke and the potent Ohio offense to drop 30 on SDSU’s inexperienced defense, and I’m betting Mayden and the Aztecs fail to keep pace. Take the Bobcats on the moneyline (+115) for the outright upset. [ad_2]

NFL Week 8, Winner and Losers
Tumblr media
By: BenJarmin Munguia
Date: October 29th, 2024
It's that time of the week again—who made it on the list—the good, the bad, the very ugly, and the very surprising. Week 8 this season had its own surprises. Let's see who made the list.
Winner
Jameis Winston.
The Cleveland Browns' season has not gone the way they had hoped. They are 2-6 on the season and lost their starting quarterback to an Achilles injury. Nobody had an open thought that they would beat the Baltimore Ravens.
Tumblr media
But… that's precisely what happened; Winston led the Browns to the promised land and knocked off their divisional rivals 24-29. Winston threw for 3 touchdowns and 334 yards during Cleveland's victory; this also marked the first game of the season for the Browns that they scored over 20 points this season This doesn't make the Browns playoff contenders, but it puts a little highlight in their season,
Winner
Jacoby Brissett
The New England Patriots hosted quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets in a classic AFC East showdown. New England rookie quarterback Drake Maye went out early in the game due to a concussion, leaving Jacoby Brissett under center.
Tumblr media
Brissett took control of the Patriots when needed, completing 15 of his 24 passes for 132 yards, as the Patriots snapped their six-game losing streak and defeated the New York Jets at home 22-25. The Jets' losing streak increased to five games. It's unsure at this time if Maye will be healthy enough to start next week for the Patriots.
Winner
Jayden Daniels
Daniels has certainly cemented his case as offensive rookie of the year. Daniels threw a hail mary that was completed to Commanders wide receiver Noah Brown as they upset and shocked the Chicago Bears 18-15. The Bears were down 12-0 before rallying back their last three drives, scoring touchdowns.
Tumblr media
This is a moment that will last a lifetime for the rookie quarterback, but it also puts the Washington Commanders in first place in the NFC East at 6-2.
Winner
Kyle Shanahan at finding running backs
Once again, the 49ers' starting running back, Jordan Mason, left in the 1st quarter due to a shoulder injury; Mason has done very well in filling in the injured Christian McCaffery, scoring 3 touchdowns and averaging 5 yards per carry with over 600 yards this season, Mason has done a stellar, job, but hurt his shoulder and never came back during the 49ers matchup vs. the Dallas Cowboys, which the running game was put in the hands of Issac Gurendo.
Tumblr media
Gurendo rushed for 85 yards on 14 carries and a key touchdown during the 49ers victory over the Cowboys 30-24, Gurendo even hauled in 3 catches for 17 yards. The rookie out of Louisville answered when the 49ers needed it and was a big part of the 49er's victory.
Losers
Tennessee Titans
The Titans became the first team this season to give up 50 points, being embarrassed by the Detroit Lions 52-14. What seemed like a promising game in the first quarter turned disastrous. Detroit outscored Tennessee 38-0 after being tied 14-14 in the second quarter.
Tennessee is now 1-6 and dead last in the AFC. Perhaps it's time to consider drafting a quarterback in the first round.
Losers
Chicago Bears
Chicago looked like a different team on Sunday, losing to the Washington Commanders in hail mary fashion 15-18, but the Bears have had opportunities to win.
In the fourth quarter, on 3rd and goal from the Commander's 2-yard line, Bears head coach Matt Eberflus thought it was a good idea to hand off the ball to their rookie center, who then fumbled the ball at the goal line, which resulted in a turnover, Better off kicking a field goal on 3rd and goal.
Tumblr media
The stinger is that Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson was caught taunting a Commanders fan just before the Hail Mary. Perhaps he was focused on the field; after all, there were a few more seconds left on the game clock.
Tumblr media
It's not over till it's over.
Losers
Cincinnati Bengals.
Cincinnati has lost every home game this season, and its season is in jeopardy. After their perfect opening drive against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, the Bengals seemed to pack up and leave, being outscored 34-10.
The Bengals are even at risk of being in last place. They are currently just a game and a half ahead of the Browns, who beat the Ravens on Sunday.
Losers
New York Giants 2-point attempt.
The 2 point conversion play definitely reminded me of when the Indianapolis Colts tried to pull the infamous fake punt that was a disaster, Don't need more to say,
Tumblr media
Not sure if this does top the Colts fake punt, but

HOU-NYJ (n): Why do I have a bad feeling about Houston after this, especially given their division's recent history?
DAL-ATL (Y): I may love to joke about Dak being overrated and stuff, but he's definitely good enough that his injury should be the nail in the coffin for them (barring Trey Lance becoming the next Romo and Prescott anyway)
DEN-BAL (Y): Don't panic about your shocking streak getting halted by the Ravens. Get in line.
MIA-BUF (Y): Tyler Bass suddenly kicking a 61-yard game-winner after everything has the same vibes as the Nacho Libre celebration scene.
NO-CAR (n): Hopefully you aren't sick of '70s-80s nostalgia yet, because the Aints are so back! (And I guess cue that same celebration for Bryce Young.)
LV-CIN (Y): YES! WE SMOKED A DEAD RAIDERS TEAM! HOPIUM ACTIVATE! (Please don't mangle Burrow again, Baltimore!)
LAC-CLE (Y): I don't normally love repeating Tree's jokes directly, but Famous Jameis's Turnover Bakery being a concession stand in the Factory of Sadness? Yeah, that can't be topped.
WAS-NYG (Y): The commies are toppling a giant! (A giant joke, sure, but still!)
NE-TEN (Y): The end of the game was both the best and worst of Drake Maye. Hopefully (or maybe not hopefully with the Pats) he can show his stuff with Travis Hunter or someone like that next year.
CHI-AZ (n): I think the Madhouse in Maryland may have driven Chicago mad! (Also I love this crazy NFC West War of Mid so much!)
JAC-PHI (Y): The ineptitude by both coaches in this game was so hysterical that it went back around and became a letdown when the Eagles couldn't complete the choke.
DET-GB (Y): Oh, how the turn tables.
LAR-SEA (n): This game really showed everything fun about this beautiful flaming mess of a division!
IND-MIN (Y): Well, Elite Flacco's return was fun while it lasted. Time for the return of Elite Arm Punter Flacco!
TB-KC (Y): The Chiefs are inevitable. And I don't know if anyone's Iron Man. (Yeah, I ran out of gas with that one.)

What they’re saying nationally after Patriots' embarrassing loss to Chargers
Things look bleak for the New England Patriots after the team’s embarrassing 40-7 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers at home Blast loss included Drake Maye leaving the game with a head injury (before returning), some brutal mistakes on the field and fans in the stands singing for Jerod Mayo to be fired. Here’s how the New England and NFL media are reacting to Saturday’s game: Dianna Russini, The…

A Dumb Draft Exercise
It's a Friday night and we're all locked in so I decided to do something a touch different. I took the current NFL draft order and then looked up the last five NFL drafts (2015-2019) to see who was picked at spots. Using the teams as they stand after one long (and it feels it) week of free agency, I picked ONE player selected at that set position to try and do a retro draft. Each team picked ONE player picked over the last five years at that specific spot (so at 1 overall, you could only draft 1st overall). How different would your favorite team look? Welll.....
1. Cincinnati- QB Kyler Murray (2019)
The first round picks of the past five years consist of four QBs (Jameis Winston, Jared Goff, Baker Mayfield and Murray) alongside premiere edge rusher Myles Garrett. As is often the case with top pick QBs tasked with saving bad franchises, each becomes less and less attractive as the years go by and they hit the ceiling of "damn good but not quite franchise saver" over and over. I went with Murray because while I think Goff is vastly underrated by most fans, Murray's got the ability and personality to drastically change an organization that feels like it's been hankering for a chance over the past five years. Murray was one of the NFL's brightest stars last year and figures to only improve, especially if you put him under the watchful gaze of an offensive guru (of sorts) in Zac Taylor.
2. Washington- DE Nick Bosa (2019)
Was REALLY torn with Carson Wentz and Nick Bosa for the Redskins. There's a lot of dead-ish weight here with Mitch Trubisky and Marcus Mariota and while Saquon may be the best player in theory, no team needs to take a running back in the top 5 (or in the first round at all). Assuming the Redskins are truly comfortable with Dwayne Haskins then taking Nick Bosa and pairing him up in the front four along with the likes of Montez Sweat, Matt Ionidis and Daron Payne would probably be a formidable ass crew.  Basically the Chase Young strategy.
3. Detroit- DE Joey Bosa (2016)
How about the Bosa Bros going back to back! One would assume tht if the Lions wanted a QB, they're GOING to have their pick of the proverbial litter on the back end. After all after Cincy, they'll have Tua, Herbert and Love at their disposal if taking a QB so amuses them. Instead operating under the belief that the Lions feel comfortable with Stafford for MAYBE one more year, it leaves us to choose from Joey Bosa, Solomon Thomas and Dante Fowler. Bosa is likely on his way to a multiple pro bowl career while Thomas may just grade out as average and Fowler is on his third team now. Easy choice if ya ask me.
4. NY Giants- WR Amari Cooper (2015)
The Giants would be picking from a variety of offensive players; two of which are current Dallas Cowboys. You have Amari Cooper, Zeke Elliott, Leonard Fournette on offense and then Denzel Ward at cornerback as pretty much your only other option. Give me Amari Cooper as he'd immediately step in and make an offense consisting of Daniel Jones, Barkley, Golden Tate and a two tight end threat of Evan Engram and Kaden Smith a pretty damn formidable one.
5. Miami- OLB Bradley Chubb (2018)
This WOULD be easy in theory. Cornerback Jalen Ramsey would've been a FINE choice here but the Dolphins have Xavien Howard and Byron Jones on the back end. With Jalen Ramsey out of the picture, you have an interesting linebacker in Devin White, a superb guard in Brandon Scherff and my selection Bradley Chubb. With so much locked in on the defense, Chubb (if healthy) steps in as an immediate premiere pass rusher. Barely edges out Brandon Scherff. BARELY.
6. LA Chargers- OG Quinton Nelson (2018)
Man! The Chargers would have their glut of talent to choose from if they so desired. Want an elite strong safety? Jamal Adams was picked 6th in 2018. Want a QB to groom and develop? Daniel Jones went here in 2019. If you want a flexible havoc inducing DL piece? Leonard Williams in 2015 went 6th overall. Ronnie Stanley is a pretty damn good tackle as well.  Quinton Nelson is a top 3 guard in just two seasons and figures to continue to improve. It's not a premiere position for a lot of people but Nelson bucks the trend.
7. Carolina- QB Josh Allen (2018)
Funny bit? We have two Josh Allens here as Josh Allen from Wyoming and Josh Allen from Kentucky both went 7th overall. Both would be tremendous picks given the Panthers needs (an elite edge or a QB). Deforest Buckner finally hit on his potential and got paid paid for it as well, fitting in interestingly here as a potential flexible front line piece. The Panthers just paid Teddy Bridgewater relatively big time money but if you have the chance to take a really athletic strong armed QB who has shown strides in two seasons, you should do it. Imagine Allen throwing it to the likes of DJ Moore and Christian McCaffery.
8. Arizona- RB Christian McCaffery (2017)
THIS one was hard given the lack of obvious options. Do you need more receiving options? If so TE TJ Hockenson was picked 8th. Christian McCaffery is probably the best player at this spot but again, running backs and top 10s and etc etc etc. Nuke Hopkins, Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk are on paper a superb trio of WRs and you also have Kenyan Drake at RB. Vic Beasley is a good pass rusher who has sort of lost his way as a player (hence the one year prove it deal). Give me McCaffery I guess. I think he'd do wonders in Kingbsury's offense and I suppose you can make he and Drake work together. That's why head coaches get paid.
9. Jacksonville- OT Mike McGlinchey (2018)
There's not a lot of obvious fits for a tanking team like the Jaguars. DT Ed Oliver would be intriguing but I have no idea how he fits in with the Jaguars defense. The likes of Leonard Floyd (recently released), Ereck Flowers (failed tackle turned kinda failed guard), John Ross (oft injured speedster) are other options. Lastly there's Mike McGlinchey who was starting at right tackle for the Super Bowl 49ers. The Jaguars have spent picks at both tackle spots but McGlinchey is better.
10. Cleveland- QB Patrick Mahomes (2017)
Fuck. Would the Browns even with Baker Mayfield flirt with taking Patrick Mahomes? Who cares. Mayfield can be traded. If you have the chance to grab the best QB in the NFL, you do it. Easy peasy.
11. NY Jets- CB Marshon Lattimore (2016)
This one came down to Lattimore or Minkah Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick can do so much across a secondary and his swiss army knife toolset was amplified in a Pittsburgh secondary that left to his devices where he could roam free and fuck shit up. On the other hand, Marshon Lattimore represents one of the NFL's rare commodities; a star shutdown cornerback. Plus with Marcus Maye and Jamal Adams tie up the safety spots pretty well.
12. Las Vegas- QB Deshaun Watson (2017)
The Raiders are openly flirtatious with moving on from Derek Carr. Deshaun Watson would step in and be a massive upgrade. There's also not much here either given how 90% of the players are DL and the Raiders have plenty of names and faces they like there. Maxx Crosby, Maliek Collins, John Hankins and Clelin Ferrell to name a few.
13. San Francisco f/IND- OG Laremy Tunsil (2016)
Take the 49ers OL with Joe Staley, Mike McGlinchey and Laken Tomlinson and then slide in Laremy Tunsil at RG. That's an absurd OL. There also weren't many options to really delve into either depending on how you feel about Da'Ron Payne and Vita Vea.
14. Tampa Bay- DE Marcus Davenport (2018)
Pick 14 over the past five years is a bit of a dry spell unfortunately. The best player on the list is DeVante Parker and the Bucs clearly have a collection of damn good WRs. Shaq Barrett and JPP are in place for 2020 but could the Bucs use Davenport as a third rusher and move him inside on pass rush downs. Not a lot of good ideas here unfortunately.
15. Denver- RB Melvin Gordon (2015)
Easy peasy! I mean Denver just signed him! That's a bit of a cheapie but let's keep with it. Gordon fitshere (and nobody else does).
16. Atlanta- LB Tremaine Edmunds (2018)
Edmunds with Deion Jones? Sign me up! The only other option that makes sense here is Marlon Humphrey at corner which would be an equally fine pick.
17. Dallas- S Derwin James (2018)
Given that Arik Armstead and John Allen would be 3-technique types in this defense, it makes sense we would ONCE again look at the safety market! Yay! The Cowboys scheme in 2018 apparently didn't like Derwin James as much as the media thought they did but this is a brand new scheme and a new way to play. Derwin James would edge out Keanu Neal (who BTW when healthy is an amazing safety) by virtue of being more of the chess piece the Cowboys need.
18. Miami f/PIT- C Ryan Kelly (2017)
Again there's a glut of corners here but the Dolphins have their fair share. As such, turn your attention over to a glut of centers---who they also just signed a guy for. Ryan Kelly is a pro bowl center though and you can make exceptions for that.
19. Las Vegas f/CHI- LB Leighton Vander-Esch (2018)
One of the better linebackers in the NFL prior to his neck injury, LVE was a friggin' elite athlete who could still redefine what NFL linebackers look like. His defensive coordinator is there as well (as the DL coach) and I bet Gruden would love his leadership and his ability as an off ball linebacker. This one is easy enough.
20. Jacksonville f/LAR- TE Noah Fant (2019)
The Jaguars are in the midst of a rebuild of sorts but unfortunately there's no immediate building block pieces at 20. It came down to Frank Ragnow (a versatile OL with upside) or Noah Fant and I opted for tight end Noah Fant since Minshew could use a reliable safety blanket. Assuming Fant can control his drops of course.
21. Philadelphia- WR Will Fuller (2016)
The Eagles could REALLY use some targets for Carson Wentz. Last year in clutch games they were relying on JJ Arceaga-Whiteside and Boston Scott for targets outside of their tight ends. Wouldn't have a problem going with FS Darnell Savage either who also went at 21.
22. Minnesota f/BUF- DE Bud Dupree (2015)
I don't know if the Vikings NEED an edge but even if they don't, there's really no options here. Josh Doctson was a flop in Washington, Charles Harris was a flop in Miami, Rashaan Evans plays the same spot as their glut of damn good linebackers and Andre Dillard is an unproven tackle for Philly to this point. Hit or miss here.
23. New England- Isaiah Wynn (2018)
I mean they drafted him here. Easy enough. Although would they take TE Evan Engram all things being equal?
24. New Orleans- WR DJ Moore (2018)
The Saints did grab Emmanuel Sanders but DJ Moore, Sanders and Michael Thomas is a whole different world of WR depth. There's also pretty much nobody else here worthy of snagging either.
25. Minnesota- WR Marquise Brown (2019)
HOLLYWOOD! The Vikings just traded away Stefon Diggs and could use an infusion of playmaker at their WR spot to help assist their TE room, Dalvin Cook and Adam Thielen. Marquise Brown would give Kirk Cousins a souped up version of Jamison Crowder; a WR-3 he relied heavily on in Washington.
26. Miami f/HOU- DE Montez Sweat (2019)
So the Dolphins have signed a lot of DE and we also gave them Bradley Chubb earlier BUT Montez Sweat is going to terrorize the NFL for the next 5-10 years and so he and Chubb combined? That's big time pass rush. Also, again, not much to really select from here either.
27. Seattle- CB Byron Jones (2015)
If you drew up a make and model for a Seahawks DB? It looks like Byron Jones. Byron just got paid big time money by Miami It's Byron vs Tre White and Byron fits the mold a bit better. Could also see Seattle liking Kenny Clark. Lots of good defensive players at 27.
28. Baltimore- OG Laken Tomlinson (2015)
Let Tomlinson battle it out with the interior OL the Ravens have currently. There's really not much here, it's either Tomlinson or DT Jerry Tillery.
29. Tennessee- TE David Njoku (2017)
Funny story, the 2016 1st round pick here was forfeited via deflategate. With just four names to choose from (and not really much to talk about either way), the Titans take David Njoku. Njoku has struggled with his role in Cleveland and the Titans do have some solid tight ends already in place but Njoku would be a pretty nice flier. Most of the guys here at 29 are just not good unless you're a Taven Bryan truther.
30. Green Bay- LB TJ Watt (2017)
And Cowboys fans across the globe shudder in horror. Yes, the Packers have two really good DEs in the Smith brothers. There's nobody else here who comes remotely close to the pure value TJ Watt has. Let him rush from the left side and rack up the sacks. You can figure it out somehow I figure. Let Preston Smith play 3-tech or something!
31. San Francisco- LB Reuben Foster (2017)
On one hand, the less said about Foster the better. On the other, there's really nobody else here who would come close. Unless you're a Germaine Ifedi fan?
32. Kansas City- DT Malcolm Brown (2015)
For any other team in any other league, this is Lamar Jackson. The Chiefs are really set at QB for the next 10-15 years so we'll have to take a pass. Instead Malcolm Brown is pretty much the only other really good value play. Big thumpy 1-tech/nose tackles are usually found later on in the draft but Brown is a good one and the Chiefs truthfully don't need much else either.
