THANK YOU SO MUCH and YOU'RE SO VERY RIGHT!! Replying back on my blog with actual followers because people need to see it. New billford fans discovered the pairing through TBOB, told from an unreliable narrator, filtered through 2 characters who you not only need to understand inside the story but from an outside writer's perspective as well to notice the spontaneous and sometimes even nonsensical details in their backstories and writing as a whole, completely missing all subtext throughout the show and j3. Thus we have a giant horde of fans who don't understand the very core themes, let alone the many, many (not so on this specific topic) smaller horrors. Fans of the pairing who were present since we got the very first sight of them did create a lot of wonderful work and analyses, but not only was it drowned out back then because of antis, it still is today because of both misinterpretation and, shockingly still, antis who are okay with the abuse and every other horror when it's funny and amusing to them but are freaked out when they have to face it as it is, when it's no longer a punchline but a thorough inspection of the complex and the uncomfortable. You're so very right about it being incredible when you do see the whole mix of disturbing and serious themes of billford with their cartoony elements, you really can't have one without the other, the perfect balance between its humor and the more serious yet still entertaining writing of Gravity Falls makes sure of that. But when people who haven't read a single page on psychology or ethos in their lives try to tell you that you're evil for noticing, hey, these cartoon guys were really disney's hannigram, the sitcom couple spin on faust, it stops being irritating and starts being hilarious
welcome to the Murdersex zine, a zine celebrating all things sex and murder. but um. we don't want to romanticize it or anything so don't make your submissions too murdersexy. we will do extensive background checks on all applicants and if we decide a past work of yours has too much sexy murder we'll have to remove you, sorry. we have limits, you know, we want a tasteful gory spread you could put on your coffee table, and having the Wrong people in it would kill the vibe (and we condemn all killing! wholeheartedly!)
