Hamiltots: Alex's Birthday Part 2

As he stepped towards the open door, with the cupcake tray in hands, he could already hear his favorite noise, the sound of his friends. He appeared in the door way and stood there a second just to see what was happening. John and Laf were at one of the small tables coloring, his eyes studied John a little longer. Taking note on each of his freckles, the way his nose twitched when he was focused, and how his eyes lit up when he was doing something he truly loved. It made Alex smile to see his best friend happy. 

Then he continued on to find Herc and Peggy playing some type of game where they were watching everyone else, but no one seemed to notice them. Almost spy-like. 

To the right of them Angelica and Aaron were reading at the big kid’s table, Aaron was reading some book about the U.S presidents. Angelica was reading a book called Common Sense by some guy named Thomas. Then a little past them at the toy piano Eliza sat with Philip, teaching him French beautifully.

 Left of them Thomas and James sat by the windows, Thomas playing with a toy and James watching, almost adoringly. And then at the chalkboard Maria and Charlie were arguing over what was better SpongeBob Squarepants or Peppa Pig, both illustrating why their pick was better.

 Mr. Washington noticed Alex at the door and waved him in. “Good morning Alex, and happy birthday to you son.” Said a smiling Mr. Washington. After a quietly mumbled ‘Don’t Call Me Son’ Alex’s smile returned to his face. “Thank you Mr. Washington. My mom made some cupcakes for the class so we can celebrate.” He says.

 “Ah what a nice surprise. Here let me take those I’ll put them up until snack time, okay?” Mr. Washington asked with his hands out. Alex places the tray in his hands. “Okay.” Alex says then turns to go play with his friends. He decided to go sit with John and Laf. 

He walks up and sits right between the both of them. “Hey guys.” Alex says with a smile. They both turn and look at him. “Bonjour, mon ami.” Laf says giving him a small hug. “Hiya Alex. Happy birthday!” John says giving Alex a bigger hug. “Oui, as mon people say, “Joyeux anniversaire”’ Laf said knowing Alex understood. “Thanks. My mom made cupcakes we can have during snack time.” Said Alex. “YAYY!” Cheered both boys. “What are you guys drawling?” Alex said looking at the two’s papers. “I’m drawing the Eiffel Tower.” Said a proud Laf. “I’m drawing a turtle.” Said a smiling John. He really liked turtles…like a lot. Almost as much as he likes Alex. “Cool, can I join?” Asked Alex. “Of course birthday boy.” Said a smiling John, before giving Alex another hug.

 They colored for a while talking and laughing. Then others started to notice Alex’s arrival. Eliza made her way over to the table with Philip in her arms. “Hi Alex, happy birthday.” She says giving Alex a hug with Philip between the two, then kissing Alex on the cheek. That earned a blush from Alex and an odd look from John. “Thank you Eliza, Philip.” Said Alex, now rubbing his cherry red cheek. “So are you going to be doing something special for your birthday?” Asked Eliza, who was leaning between Alex and John, leaving John to glance around her in search of Alex’s face. “Yeah, after work my mom said we’re going to celebrate at home.” Said Alex while his eyes darted back and forth watching John, who was moving around Eliza still. “That sounds like fun.” Says Eliza “Yeah….” said Alex not knowing what to say. “Did you want something?” Said an annoyed John. “Nope, just to say happy birthday to Alex.” Eliza says, then she straightens out, winks at Alex, and walks away with Philip in her arms.

 “Ugh! Girls! If I was you I’d wash that kiss off my face, before you get cooties.” Said a disgusted John. “I don’t know John, maybe cooties aren’t real.” Said Alex dazedly. “Let’s just go back to coloring” said Laf in hope to ease the rising tension. After a while if coloring in silence the conversation started back up. Alex paused when he heard the giggles of Angelica as she came closer. “Happy birthday Alex!” She said as she hugged him. “Thank you Angelica.” Alex choked out, due to the lack of oxygen from Angelica’s tight hug. “Oh, I’m sorry.” She says as she lets go of Alex. “It’s ok.” Said Alex. He peers over her shoulder to see Aaron approaching.

 “Happy birthday Alexander.” He said with a small smile. “Oh, thanks Aaron.” Said Alex. He looks down and notices another book in his hands. “Whatcha reading?” He asks. “Cat in the Hat. It’s one of my favorites.“ Says Aaron smiling down on his book. “I’m a fan of Green Eggs and Ham. “Said Alex. “I know, that’s why I brought this for you, for you to keep.” He says handing him a hardcover of Green Eggs and Ham. Alex stands up and hugs Aaron. “Thank you Aaron.” Alex says still hugging him. "Your welcome.” Aaron says. “Well, I should get back to reading,” Aaron says growing uncomfortable and pulling away from the hug. “Ok, thanks again for the book.” Said Alex as he steps back towards the table. “I’ll see you on the other side of the room.” Said Aaron as he started to step away backwards. “See you on the other side of the room.” Alex said as he watched Aaron turn around and walk away. “What was that about?” Angelica whispered to the other boys. They just looked at each other and shrugged.

 ****** I’m sorry it was so long. You want to hear the funny thing? It’s still not finished! Hahaha…I’m sorry it’s not that funny, anyways, I really wanted to finish it but it would have been even longer! 45,000,000 words. Can you imagine? Jk but I couldn’t help myself from adding small things from the musical, or adding a hint of Lams. I’m biased when it comes to that. I would like to finish this in another part and, hopefully actually finish there, instead of another: to be continued.
