How do you think modern Aeons see Ada? I feel like they don't really know her. They're not paying attention to what she's saying or doing. They base their opinion of her on how she acts towards Leon and they will always justify her actions instead of wondering WHY she's acting that way.

She's 'nice' to Leon: omg yes true love uwu she saved his life see she's not a villain!!!

She's 'mean' to Leon: lmaooo you go girlboss point a gun at him yes end his life!!!

BUT if someone suggests Leon doesn't want her because of the latter, they act like crybabies.

She's like a doll to them, a vessel for them to pour their projections on. They don't wonder about her aspirations or fears. It's all so superficial to them. I don't see this happening to any other character (well a lot of ppl baby Leon but most acknowledge his rights and wrongs, and ppl call the other characters out on their bullshit, but with Ada it's just... you can't say a bad thing abt her or you will be crucified, but they cant even form a proper argument against someone who dislikes her, its always stfu hater r#acist and jealous). Like I like Ada but sometimes she pisses me off lol. All of the characters do. Why is it such a taboo for Aeons to admit Ada fucks up too?

I think most, if not all, Ada Wong 'fans' are Aeon shippers first and foremost. That's why they're refusing to acknowledge that Campom is getting rid of the romantic aspect of Aeon in the remake: if Ada isn't with Leon or Leon isnt chasing after her, she loses her charm and they have to acknowledge the 'ugly' parts of her character, bc they NEVER hold her accountable for anything. She's done some questionable stuff but they're always like "omg yes mother slay queen go be a criminal babygirl do your thing". Like they never stop to analyze her. It's so dehumanizing that her own 'fans' do not care to analyze her outside of her being the sexy aloof spy who is the Love Interest and acts mysterious and looks sexy. They are the ones perpetuating the stereotype about her. Bc they don't care to know her. They know everything they want to know: that Leon wants her, and thats enough for them.

Sorry for the long message, you're one of the few ppl on here who actually offers a different, realistic, HUMAN analysis on Ada.

i don't know about the modern aeons a lot. i only know one decent enough, and they seem to respect ada but of course aeon is their main thing. the ones that i do know less of but their reputation is very high and mighty. yeah. unfortunately, they don't really seem the... biggest fans of her. i can respect the motivation for her. especially with those who baby leon.

i mean, imagining shipping aeon and suddenly you get people shitting on ada because she manipulate him. blah, blah, that sort of thing.

those are the one who definitely just defend her for the #girlpower which once again. can't argue against that. ada is allowed to use leon, but they definitely rank up her mean heart. i think it's double down the comments against ada or they just really like that specific dynamic.

but that's when you mention the other thing, the ada needs leon to 'really' manner to the story.

that's another sad yeah to some fans and i feel like it's accidentally. like, i certainly hope none of these fans actually do it on purpose. or disliking characters. like, i have seen people who hate leon and people who hate ada (y'know disliking her character not disliking her for race or jealousy), and i follow both to get an understanding on why people hate them. i dislike and like living in an echo chamber, but how will you get the understanding of the characters?

i feel i am rambling now so, i'll try to hurry up. aeons want a validation of the past self of the ship. imagine wasting years of your life, begging for ship to become canon and re6 comes along and destroys it again. like, i follow an aeon shipper and a couple aeons get angry at the idea of shipping a different person with leon or even an oc.

like, i don't hundred percent think that they project themselves in ada. they want to understand her as well, but they are bias of believing ada needs leon. when... she never did. in re6, helena is telling leon to go with ada and leon rejects it. even he never needed her.

helena is like an aggressive aeon shipper, she thinks she understands their story, but who knows it better than them two. and that's where the flaw of the writing comes to place and the fans have to write it in to fill in the holes. making theories that leon is an alcoholic for missing ada or that he is happier in death island because he got the 'pussy'. (comments in aeon videos)

like this is messy, it's unfortunate that ada doesn't get many thoughts of fans. like jacksepticeye said, "they'll make cute babies." or the pieces of writing of ada repeat that ada protects leon with the bias of the OG games while speaking about the remakes.

i try in this blog to avoid leon (sometimes i fail and that's fine.) so ada can shine as a bad and good character. i don't worship the ground that ada walks over. i think she is hot. i think she is good but the writing/fans think that kindness is only meant for leon. i just hope fans adore their female characters as much they claim. the ugly and the pretty.

i hope aeon shippers think the same. i hope they aren't always horrible and try to understand half the ship they love

First off, the FL, Verta, is dead set on revenge and SPOILER she gets revenge. Its so satisfying to read. And I think its so refreshing

Verta doesn't hide who she is. She actively gets revenge on those who wronged her. And she's a good actress. No scratch that, a superb actress! She has people around her thumb. Its honestly terrifying.

Another thing is, she doesn't care about other people. She doesn't care who she has to use or take down to get her revenge. And thats so badass. Its so refreshing to see a FL like this, who isnt just rude or puting up a facade. She's here to slay and we're here for it!

And most of the men here are awful. Just horrible human beings.

He's actually a subordinate of Proud Carter, which makes him our(the fandom's) enemy too, but from the comments I've read, he's not too bad, other than the fact that he's an underdog of Proud. I almost forgot! He's a deuch to his fiance. She's so sweet. But he doesn't like her for whatever reason. His loss.

But he's head over heels for Verta. If Im being honest I don't think he's that bad. He's actually kinda sweet. And like a softie for our FL. Too bad, FL had to seduce him in order to kill him so that she could use his body for someone else's vessel.

I honestly think he ranks second in my books as ML. We love a guy who'd die for us to be together in the afterlife (eventhough Verta technically tricked him). Honestly I love him.

B: Yersha

He's the wizard that helps Verta. Good guy. Not a ML but still that pretty face earns some brownie points. Also, he uses Nathan's body as his vessel after he dies fir personal reasons. Very helpful to our FL. I liked his face. Not complaining cause Nathan's face is fine too.

C: Blaine Shade

A hottie. The actual ML. Marris Verta in the main story line. A physco in his own right. Tried killing his sister. Manipulative. Very sweet to Verta. Awesome chemistry between them both. Sexy. Very suave. Head over heels for FL. Honestly very good ML.

there are even comics where there is a version of joker- John if i am not mistaken- who does build a relationship with her that is healthy and sweet and they have twins together, before he falls into his joker mania and kills himself to stop himself from hurting her and his kids

listen, joker is a dick. he sucks ass and he's abusive and in no way am i condoning what he does to harley, or to anyone for that matter, because he's an insane man who abuses and kills people- thats his whole schtick

but he is also just a comic book character (im not saying there arent people like joker in the real world that exist, there unfortunately definitely are, but Joker, the joker, is merely a fictional creation)

and if he weren't needed to be this horrible villain- he could have the potential to be a very good morally grey love interest.

snippets of it are shown in Suicide Squad, of course, in those movies Joker is the abusive prick and all that, but what really spoke to me about it is when Harley jumps into the vat of acid for him and he walks away, then hesitates, then groans and jumps after her. Now of course this isnt actually him showing care for her, but it reminded me of a post i saw on here a while back in a debate about morally grey characters in that scene where they want to leave, and then they go, 'ah shit for you ill have morals' and grit their teeth and go back to save the other character. thats what that scene reminded me of, and the fact that he would burn the world down- and suicide squad is majorly(in the scenes we see him) joker trying to track down harley, with little regard for how he has to do it or who he has to kill to get his queen back- for her

again, its a very unpopular and controversial opinion, thats why i said that when i started the post, and you can take it with a grain of salt, but its my opinion, and yes its a bit of a stretch, but thats what fiction and books or comics or movies are all about.

i've been a stranger things fan since the first season came out and i honestly still don't understand why people who ship mike and eleven can be so mean. i guess there's a lot of homophobes in the stranger things fandom, but I'd like to think it has nothing to do with what couple you're rooting for on the show, but it seems to be a pattern with people who ship mileven. and people who like will and mike together usually love mike and eleven too. they love it platonically, but they still love it. they care about it. there's toxic people everywhere but i feel like over all the byler community is so nice and welcoming of people. gay people really are the best huh so slay of us

i mean, yeah. overall, i agree with you. the majority of bylers on tumblr, like the main and active blogs, are very welcoming and nice. i would say (from what i've seen) there are more non-toxic bylers than mlvns on tumblr and on other social medias. probably because a lot of mlvns are the general audience and 12 y/os who dont care to look beyond the surface and settles with mlvn because it's the "main perfect ship" (homophobia and hetero-normativity play big roles too for a lot of those ppl). while most bylers who think byler makes more sense, prolly care to analyze subtext and the show on a deeper level, whether we're actually right about it or wrong, because we're the ones who are going against canon and the majority of the GA, yk. and they don't like that we have alternate interpretations of the show (that are actually possible) so they simply send hate to us.

As far as story is concerned, Dorothea just falls flat for me. I don't get much of a dynamic character arc from her. The game tries to go with this "ooh, she starts out flirty and sexy, and then the war starts and she's sad and pretty and hates war! isnt that different? isn't that sad??" like no........it's not?? really??? That's not an arc. I found that Dorothea's comments about the war read more like the game trying to hamfistedly declare that War Bad because War Made Pretty Girl Sad, rather than actually taking the time to show it. They at least gave her a little more meat when they included that line in SS about her taking care of orphans, but it never goes anywhere.

On top of that, I found a lot of her lines and views to be flat-out mopey and whiny. The worst offender I can think of is her post-kill line in the Red Canyon:

Like, this school was canonically founded to unite the three nations to fend off Almyran invasions. It's called the Officers' Academy. What'd you THINK you were gonna do? But no, it's a Very Incisive And Thought-Provoking Line About The Evils Of Crusading Religion, or something. Did they not give yall like.....pamphlets at orientation??

Her hatred of the Church and the goddess is also misplaced—which could be interesting, but it's written in such a way that she never has to confront it. No, the Church didn't do anything to help her when she was impoverished...because the church got chased out of the empire over a century beforehand. No, the goddess didn't do anything to fix her situation...because the goddess was slumbering inside Byleth. But Dorothea never canonically learns those things, so she never has to deal with her preconceived notions being challenged. Now she can access a Hidden Talent in Faith, but I find it. hmm. that when she brings it up to Byleth in one of the student goal change requests, she explicitly frames it as "I don't believe in the goddess, but I believe in you". In other words, it's resolved by more player pandering instead of taking a real opportunity for character growth.

(I love Byleth, she’s my pfp and I stan Claudeleth, but the Black Eagles are full to bursting with player pandering to a degree that the other houses just. don’t have, and it hurts the characters and the group dynamic as a result.)

She wants to attract a rich husband and secure her future financially, but doesn't actually do anything other than shove her boobs out and sing—she doesn't want to learn any military or diplomatic skills, she doesn't seem to have any interest in learning hospitality or statesmanship, and she actively insults many of the nobles she can support with. As Lorenz points out, being even a minor noblewoman is harder than that; it requires an actual formal education in politics and running a household. Now that could be an interesting character beat, that she unconsciously sabotages herself because she believes she's not really worthy of the future she claims to want, or because she just tells everyone she wants to be a gold digger but really she wants true love, but that's not a concept that's addressed in the story. She comes off—at least in the lolcalization—as a shallow, Sad But Pretty Yas Kween Slay archetype rather than an actual well-rounded dynamic character.

Like other characters in the Empire, she's incredibly self-pitying, hypocritical, and annoying to watch, and often behaves as waifu bait because the devs wanted you to pick Black Eagles first. She's at her most interesting on Silver Snow, but it still feels incomplete, and fandom hates that route and only wants Communist Kween Who Says Eat The Rich—and that means that the most utterly stale and boring versions of her are the popular versions that I see everywhere.

(There's this idea that because Dorothea had it rough, she should be allowed to do and say whatever she wants and get whatever prizes she wants, and you're obviously a bad person if you don't like her. Like with Ashe and Bernie, fandom turned a character who just sort of mildly annoys me into a character I find utterly insufferable.)
