#don't get me wrong. there's still unapologetic murderers in the early half of the show. but they become way more prevalent down the line

had the realization today that the reason why early seasons of csi are, i feel, stronger than later ones is bc there's so many episodes early on where the person who commits murder has genuinely been a victim, did it unintentionally, or is otherwise a good person
meanwhile the Cop Show Syndrome takes over about halfway thru the show and they're either all "mentally ill" or do it for kicks
#watching s1 again has made me sit here like. oh wow this first season has a LOT of episodes where#the culprit is actually a good person and it was a shitty circumstance#like the one where two teens got high at a desert rave and had a bad trip. and one friend killed the other#and genuinely didn't remember it and was Devastated. and it's played like the tragedy it is#or the one where a little girl is killed in a hit and run by a teenage boy. but his grandfather tries to take the charges for him#only for the csis to find out it was actually the teenage son based on the evidence#or the one where a teenage girl and her little sister are the only survivors of her family being murdered#which happened bc the older daughter was repeatedly raped by her father and then became pregnant with. you guessed it. the little sister#who then was Also raped by their father and the older daughter had Enough of letting that happen And the rest of her family letting it go o#like. that one is the Messiest out of all of them/there's still a level of 'you didn't need to go that far' to it#but as compared to some of the later more vindictive characters...#and all of those are just in the first... 6-7 episodes iirc?#don't get me wrong. there's still unapologetic murderers in the early half of the show. but they become way more prevalent down the line#and !! i just think it weakened the show !!!#anyway. csi autism moment over. goodbye.#i say things
