Tw: mention of past abuse

something at will always hit me like a bat is when the super happy sunshine character has a horrible whumpy past! Whumpee began smiling when they saw their friend. "Hey dude! What's on the agenda for today?"

"We only have one guy to interrogate," A explained as they glanced at their clipboard. "Everyone is already inside."

A led whumpee through the rows of cells. They tried not to look at the people inside. They tended to ignore anything that could dampen their smile. Whumpee's eyes were drawn to the cell their friends surrounded.

"Who's..." whumpee froze as they saw the figure in the cell. It was all too familiar.

Leader didn't notice whumpee stiffen. "Our guy today is Whumper LastName. Accused of multiple accounts of kidnapping, torture, abuse... all kinds of stuff like that. Boss wants us to get locations. They think there could still be more captives." They turned to whumpee, unsettled by their silence. "Whumpee, what's up?"

whumpee realized they had been staring at whumper. "Nothing!" They smiled at leader.

"wait,"

Whumpee jumped at the sound of whumpee's voice.

"Whumpee? As in Whumpee LastName?" They chuckled.

"whumpee? Do you know this guy?" B asked.

"no?" Whumpee laughed, clearly over compensating. "I've never seen this dude before,"

"Are you sure? That would actually be really helpful for this case," Leader offered.

"nope! I've never met someone named whumper,"

"Come on now whumpee," whumper rose from the bed they were sitting on. "You can't forget this face. I certainly can remember your screams well,"

"Whumpee? What are they talking about?"

"nothing! Just them trying to mess with us. Don't listen to them." Whumpee looked around for something to distract everyone with.

"whumpee, you're shaking," B reached out to touch whumpee's should but they flinched and jumped away.

Oh god. Everything they've worked for. They've perfectly crafted this personality, and now whumper is going to destroy their life a second time.

"I used to know whumpee really well. I always wondered what happened to them after they escaped." Whumper smiled, as if thinking of a fond memory. (which wasn't too far from the truth) "I remember how well whumpee took whumper 2's beatings. I particularly liked their screams when I whipped them."

"Shut up!" Whumpee yelled. They hadn't noticed the tears falling down their face.

"Oh! How's whumpee 2?"

"You disgusting bastard! You killed them and you know it. How!? How is someone so sick and twisted as you?!" Whumpee stopped and looked at their friends and regretted it. They stood with shocked and worried faces. Fuck, whumpee really fucked everything up again.

I was thinking about the "people go mad if they go without light for too long" because somebody bought it up and I kind of dig it? As a concept?

Like what if whumpee is one of those "girl in a lab" characters that were sealed away somewhere because they were a threat

And then they've been locked away in this dark room for years

If they are immortal? For decades.

Maybe even for a few months, if they weren't even "sealed" but just locked away because they made whumper especially mad?

I'm thinking specifically about the rescue. If we go Sealed Away route maybe the rescuers are a team of young heroes in an adventure

Maybe they just were onto whumper and invaded their place, finding whumpee in there

When they are free, the first thing they see is that it's so light. Too light. Too bright. Too loud and too much.

They can't stand being touched and they can't make up what everybody's saying to them, because for the first time in ages there is so much input on their senses!

Maybe they have to adapt to understanding language again. It's been too long since they've spoken to someone

Speaking of it I bet they can't speak either.

After so long alone they are also probably weak and frail (unless that due to some magic they are kind of well—physically, at least)

And imagine the terrors! After a while of adapting, Whumpee doesn't like being left alone or in the dark. Otherwise they start having flashbacks.

Also. Unresponsive. Consider.

Once I read a manga (Akatsuki no Yona) where an immortal character had been living alone for so long that he started referring to himself in third person, so he wouldn't forget his own name. Consider that too

I also don't know much about this so let's also google somethings up!

Apparently it takes a while for your vision to come back if you've spent too long in the dark. Interesting.

Hmm. Staying too long in the dark can also increase your body's melatonin production (the hormone that makes you sleepy) and decrease your serotonin (happiness hormone) so you'd be sleepy and depressed.

Your circadian cycle (internal clock that controls your sleep among other things) would be completely fucked up. (Previous source) Apparently the effect is similar to Jet Lag. And can also lead to sleep deprivation.

Aside from depressed, it would also leave whumpee stressed out apparently

Moving on to sensory deprivation in general, it can also give Whumpee memory and attention issues :D

Also causes hallucinations

OH and apparently it can also cause trouble with balance AND increase suggestability (aka makes you more influenceable to take on different opinions)

Also according to most of those sources panick attacks also occur in these cases

Isolation, specifically, can also cause hallucinations, logical reasoning impairments and high blood pressure. Oh and it also fucks up your sense of time and makes you think it passes more slowly. Your circadian rhythm apparently starts taking 48 hours instead of 24 for some reason?

Curiously, symptoms of light deprivation are apparently light on the first week(s?) (first source) and in isolation/further sensory deprivation situations it takes less that two days (last source). Light deprivation doesn't seem to be much severe in shorter timespans since it's also used as a form of therapy sometimes!

Truly a fine trope! Absolutely horrifying! So inhumane and cruel! We should use it more.

Short drabble!

Tw: non-con, smoking, implied kidnapping/hostage

It's just a cigarette, but I can see how the smoke winds around their fingers. Viscous, white smog disperses over the balcony. Distant honks of cars interrupts the static of the radio I'm fiddling with.

I stare at the puff of sparks at the end of his cigarette. I only had the rest of breakfast before I was going back up. If I fixed the radio, maybe I'd be allowed to hear the tinny music while I could feel the sheets shift underneath me. Something to listen to other than the distant creak of the neighbours. Something other than the smack of his lips. What else was there to replace the discordant jazz which bounced through the rafters from a neighbour who played an arthritic trumpet?

I wanted to hear the radio and people chatting nonsense about Bruno Mars and top hits and who'd called out the President on something especially inane.

I wanted the stray cat who I'd once picked up to creep through my window and curl up at my feet. Now, I am the one curled up - but being at his feet would be an easier place to be.

The bed shifts, and the rough-shaven face whispers down my back. I grit my teeth as a feel a new stain grow on the back of my legs. I need to piss. Fingers like to sneak around my neck, touching my pulse liberally like a meandering spectator, finding an erotic fizzle of interest he thinks I have.

I've learned to moan for him. To find the beats where he wants the noises ensure him of dominance. Such prowess! When he squeezes me, like a wet, eager dog nosing my hips, my shudders are a beautiful mistake.

I forget to ask for water.

And he doesn't offer.

I am shocked when he presses the cigarette to my lips, a hand over my eyes like a mimicry of romance. The laugh is gutteral, and drags out like a bark when his fingers wipe away more than just sweat.

I never wanted to smoke. I'd always been told to avoid it. Asthma was bad enough without coating my lungs in more ways to asphixiate, but I can already feel the craving begin.

It's dirty, finding the tip just-damp with his saliva, the soft press of his fingers curling it just-so and I'm gasping. Trying to breathe. Such tears are a reaction that I'm too pained to feel.

Why I can't name the agony in my chest when I'm relieved to find it there again the next day?

(it's such a good song and I was really inspired by @sowhumpshaped 's bad caretaker/ carewhumper pieces! Especially the one where Whumpee is staring dazedly and thought they'd seen their Whumper who was out of prison! I felt shook!

I couldn't resist.

I had this idea a time ago, actually

Whumpee is a living weapon. I love this trope. They are brutally trained to be ruthless and perfect

But whumpee is a kind soul. It hurts them everytime they have to hurt/kill someone. They can't manage to erase their emotions, as much as they want it

One day, whumper(s) needs an information. They send whumpee to a small city and tell them: kill them all, but this person

Whumpee has no choice, so they go with some more people who work for whumper and do the damned work

They manage to capture the person, and then whumper tells them: "YOU are the one torturing them for the information"

At first, whumpee hesits. They never did it before. They don't want to. They end up following the order but is more than they can handle.

The second whumpee keeps asking to be killed, asking them to stop, to just die, and whumpee gives up one day

They don't complain about killing people anymore. Certainly taking lifes, even as heartcrushing as it is, is better than inflicting that much pain.

As long no one's being tortured.

Whumpee can't forget Second Whumpee's screams.

AND!

Whumper manage to pick the information they want another way. But whumpee disobeyed them. They won't go without punishment

Whumper captures another person and tells to whumpee to torture this one too, "but without killing"! They'll only die when whumper says they had enough. Whumper knows whumpee is a very empathetic person. They'll use their feelings as a punishment.

"If you kill Third Whumpee too soon, next time I'm bringing two more to be tortured, did you understood?"

Whumpee has no choice. Their heart breaks at every scream, every needle, every muzzle, every blade

But they continue. They don't want it to get worse.

Sorry if it's too long or too specific, I was actually doing this to a character of mine, but I kinda gave up because it was too whumpy, it was before I joined the community. Didn't want to let this idea die. Feel free to use, or maybe tell this idea to someone. As long as you're tagging me.

I love this so much!!! the whump, the angst, the shame, the guilt and the pain? perfect. Caretaker stumbling upon a big, scarred pet whumpee in a shelter. although intimidating at first sight, this whumpee was actually severely abused by their previous owner, and are extremely meek and frightened as a result. An employee lets caretaker into whumpee's kennel so they can interact with them before they make their decision. after a few minutes of gently soothing whumpee and convincing them they aren't a threat, whumpee settles into caretaker's lap, giving a contented sigh as caretaker's fingers softly thread through their hair, and caretaker knows they just have to bring them home.

Daisy - What inspired you to create your OC?

Theo: So I wrote a prompt about a Pet being delivered to an animal sanctuary by mistake and decided I wanted to write it (of course). And I'd been wanting to write a deaf whumpee for a while – I kind of wanted to explore how the BBU and WRU specifically deal with disabilities like that. Bc there's clear limitations – hearing orders, for example – and things that would have to be changed in order for disabled boxies to serve as boxies should.

Honestly, before I decided to make the box boy in this story deaf (well... the only box boy at that point lol), I sort of came up with the idea of a disability drive for WRU. To promote their inclusiveness, their message that everyone can be a Pet, bc I imagine they'd get accused of discrimination – to which they'd respond that it's not their fault, they don't control their clients' wishes, but hey! We'll go on a propaganda drive to clear that up! Take nice photos of disabled people signing contracts! That'll clear things up!

Anyway. It was a combination of the idea of that drive, wanting to do a deaf boxie and that prompt, and honestly? I did a picrew and Theo was just cute.

And he's short, bc of course he is.

Lea: I wanted Theo to have had another boxie he was separated from before being abandoned, and I wanted her to be a woman. Originally she wasn't meant to be in the story until later, and her personality was different too (and story), but then I made her picrew and fell in love with her. And that's when the personality she has now started appearing too.

Also, I read... I feel like it was Daniel and Star (by @flowersarefreetherapy) I was reading at that point? So the idea of her and Theo being Bonded seeped into my writing. And also I wanted to look at platonic Bonded pairs, bc up until that point what I'd seen were pretty much all Romantic Bondeds, which I love but didn't want to write. Although when I wrote the first piece they bonded naturally through being bought together, not Bonded by WRU deliberately. It was during Whumptober that the idea of making them WRU Bonded came into it fully I think (it was seeping through tbh anyway but actually as a conscious decision it was then that I made it).

The idea for her to be refurbished as a Romantic and forget Theo didn't come until a couple of weeks ago, though.

Ah. That got long. That was not just her initial creation. Sorry.

Sunflower - What name(s) were you originally thinking of calling your OC?

Theo: My idea was to have him named something that could be made from his number. I liked the name Hugo but alas that didn't fit. So, I listed the letters that could come from numbers if you put them into a calculator and worked it out from there and resisted calling him Boobies.

Lea: This was her first name. I was desperate for one by the time Lea came to mind. She's had her number for months, but I could not think of a name. I did debate for a bit – Lea or Leah? – and partly went for Lea over Leah bc I knew a Leah in school and that would've felt uncomfortable using the same name!

Marigold - Describe your OC in three words or less

Theo: Sweet, anxious, protective

Lea: Protective, loving, musical

Whumpee just being a feral little creature and biting anyone who they deem a threat. Especially if they’re trying to make themself look big and threatening. This could also work really well for a nonhuman whumpee
