the urge to make a web weaving type of post using s2e2 of iwtv and passages about kayfabe from josie riesman's book "ringmaster"
#messages from the ouija board#teddy and i watched it last night and im reading ringmaster rn#and the scene w annika on the stage genuinely made me cry but also made me think of some parts of that book#like not to sound like im trying to downplay very real heinous crimes by comparing them to one on a tv show#but the manipulation and blurring of truth and fiction that allows u to commit violence and even kill people and an entertained audience#doesnt believe it's really happening bc youve primed them w all this camp and stage violence#idk the scene made me think of owen and of rita specifically and it made me feel sick#also i keep going down rabbit holes lately and then finding out the researcher/historian im getting the info from lives right here its odd#like that just happened to me looking up some specific stuff from the terror too and it was like 'oh hold on this academic is in pvd???'#and that just happened to me rn looking up riesman
