TURTLE CHILD STARTED BASKING, THIS IS NOT A DRILL

IT'S BRAVE ENOUGH TO BE OUT OF THE WATER WHILE I'M CLOSE!!!! It's barely been two days, meanwhile all the research I've been doing told me that when moving in new enclosures, they can take up to two weeks to feel secure enough to start basking around their carer. I am not overstating in the slightest how brave this lil creature is.

The pre-made basking area from the tank is horrible cause the filter is supposed come out on it by design, which translates into the ramp being perpetually wet, which in turn means the turtle can't dry off completely (as it needs to). Hence the extra rocks I've added.

I got this tank cause it was a good price for a decent size (for a starter tank at least) but I'd recommend avoiding these "Tortums". Or get them for the size and price and take off the ramp (which I will do when the baby gets more comfortable with me).

He tries to be gentle, when lifting the other back onto land. Humans are so much heavier than Forrest expected them to be. While most of his studies revolves around sea creatures, he was still going to make note of this. It had been so long since he had legs of his own, there was so much he had forgotten about.

When he does get them out of the water and lied down, he stays above the water, giving them a small shake. They probably need medical attention of some sort, but he’s not sure what he can do. Aside from stay for a few minutes. At least make sure that they wake.
