What REALLY happens to Lydia in Thanedd

Hello! I'm briefly going to explain what happens to Lydia during the Thanedd coup in the books, in a comedic fashion bc if I think about this seriously I might combust internally and not in the fun way. i guarantee you'll laugh once. if you don't, a stick figure artwork of your muse will be given in compensation.

Be warned of: spoilers from thewitcher books (Time of Contempt) / mentions of death, blood and suicide (if that's a trigger for you, please do not read) / constant and i mean an absurd amount of stabbing jokes.

Thanedd has two sides. The 'defenders of the North + their kings' and the 'traitors who allied with Nilfgaard and put pinapple on their pizzas'. They put the traitors in dimeritium shackles, AKA Francesca and Vilgefortz bc he apparently poster boi of betrayal and knightly costumes. SUDDENLY there's a fight, and one of the fighters is Lydia.

The fight stops because Lydia dies. It is IMPLIED that she went van Stabbyvoort and did the thing herself, because daggers are pretty and they're prettier when they're INSIDE UR HEART. Red is a pretty color too. EVEN PRETTIER WHEN IT STAINS THE HALLWAYS AND IT'S YOURS.

Lydia was to give time to Vilgefortz to get resistant to dimeritium, bc he's a mighty powerful god / cutest kinda deranged dictator wannabe, and there's no better way to do so than idk killing yourself.

Why go to such lenghts? Because she loved him like a lot. the book describes her love as 'silent, stubborn and relentless'. She was in love with Vilgefortz, went hearteyes every single time, and that love made her lose stuff in translation, as in:

vil was like 'gimmie time!' lyd went all 'instructions unclear will stab self'

This makes a good show and with good show I mean shit festival, because it was supposed to be all political mambo jambo. No deaths. Triss is like YOOOOOOOOO WHY CORPSE IN MY LIVING ROOM WHO CORPSE OOOOOO FUCKED UP FACE CUTIE NOOOOO.

So Lydia's death forces everyone to take a good look inside their little tiny ugly hearts and go 'yeah we kinda fucked up, didn't we' not because they care about lydia but because, and i might sound repetitive but THE COUP WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE WITHOUT KILLING PEOPLE. it was a political affair. a sorceress with a fucking dagger stuck to her tit is not political.

Tissaia blames Philippa. No one wanted any deaths.

LYDIA'S DEATH SETS THINGS IN MOTION. It marks the separation between Tissaia (who ends up killing herself after the fiasco) and Philippa (she literally goes like 'lyd be dead? oh daaaaamn'). it helps vil. it makes tissaia lift the ban on polka dots and using magic there.

Vil, now free because his assistant decided to become a human pin cushion, went to tor lara bc child of the elder blood with the power to bring the armaggedon of evilness and evil looking elves yada yada, and Geralt says GET THIS MAN OUT OF MY LAWN.

Vil is all 'let us go togetherrrrr ♥ we can hold hands while we stop thE PANDEMONIUM OF ICE AND BAD STUFF.exe, she's probably scared let us sing dora the explorer songs together'

Bad choice. like really bad choice. like 'i need to heal in brokilon bc i got fucked up real real bad' bad choice. everything was fun and games until he blames vil because of lydia's chest jewerly and accesory. so vil does the sensitive thing and pulls out a baguette and teaches geralt a lesson on humility and baguettes.

lydia is not your average villain power corrupted evil bundle of doom. lydia is a girl who loved too much, and allowed that love to kill her. it's fucking poetic.

Kinda just started, but so far so good.

Not really, I suppose. While not comforming to much any gender roles, I don’t really correct people who call me “miss” or assume I’m straight. Mostly because I am too tired or distracted to deal and social anxiety stuff.

Poetry, music, writing, and art from past lovers. Its super depressing, but he keeps them in a giant wooden box under his bed.

the sun, practically. Kidding, kinda. Ever since he stopped taking his summer form he burns really quickly, and it can get bad

I wanted a demonic general who was kinda reserved. A whiny gay ice prince was not the original plan at ALL

Yes, and he has. Both in self defense, or in defending his family, or because they wouldn’t leave him alone and were highkey harassing him. he’s a prince, he doesn’t need to deal with that and he already told them to fuck off more than once.

Bars, parties, but also he deals with higher up demons in council meetings. At the bars and parties hes usually looking to get laid, but he’s in charge in the meetings because he outranks them by a whole lot and hell needs to be run by someone, doesn’t it?

Favorite muse you’ve had so far ever: Ravus, actually. I’m so emotionally invested in him at this point, and playing him for years has made it almost effortless to write him as a muse (my only deterrent has been motivation to actually write at times.) Muse you kinda wanna pick up: I’m actually attempting to practice some self restraint in the category, to be honest. Though, there’s an old OC of mine that’s been prying at my mind, lately. Most identifiable fictional character: Truthfully? Noctis. This is ironically the main reason why I could never comfortably RP him. 

What color your aura is/think it is: Violet, maybe? With a few white ripples that tear through it, once in a while. 

Personality stuff you agree with (astrology, mbti, Hogwarts house, etc be as specific as you want!): I am a Hufflepuff, through and through.I won’t even begin to deny that one. I’m also a Virgo, but I lack so many of the traits a Virgo should have (frankly, I think I act more Libra.)

Do you think you’re a good driver: Well enough. I don’t always stop fully at stop signs around empty intersections in the middle of nowhere, and I have been known to rush a little to avoid a red light, but other than that, I do think I am. I follow speed limits and try to maintain proper safety. <3  Sometimes I do put my phone on speakerphone and talk to my mom on long trips, which I have no guilt for, (even though @lustralium scolds me for it.) Since my phone sits in a dock, it’s no different than talking to someone in the seat next to me. hdjkadhwdhqkhd

Why did you choose this muse: Well, I wrote Ravus on Livejournal for years. I’m not even certain why I initially chose him. I think it was his aesthetic that appealed to me in the Versus XIII trailer. Then I started to actually adore him. Over the years the FFXV RPC on LJ has become nearly nonexistent, though. Then I ended up following @chancellorizunia to Tumblr and joined this merry bunch of misfits. (And I adore you all<3)

Favorite rp memory: ... Honestly, I have so many. This is something that would take a lot more consideration to answer than just in the time it takes to fill out a meme- something I’m just using as a procrastination tactic anyhow.  

Favorite thing you’ve written, in rp or not:  The take-down of a corrupt Moon God. This was...many years ago, but it was an intense plot between two other friends that last almost a year, and when the whole incident finally went down, it sort of reshaped our little writing circle in an intense way. That whole arc will always be my favorite.

Favorite muse you’ve had so far ever: Fushimi Saruhiko. He’s a fairly complex character who has an interesting balance of insecurities caused by past traumas and terrible life choices that still can’t be completely justified by them.

I guess what’s holding me back the most is mainly that I’m kinda missing years of headcanons since I’m fairly new to the fandom. It was my first time writing Ignis, and also I hadn’t yet played ep. Ignis (while she had). Some time later I played it when she was staying at my home and I was sUFFERING SO MUCH BECAUSE (spoiler) i was like focusing A LOT on Ignis’ hopes of having Noct back at least but he knew about Noctis’ fate all alongnhajgfdse

Most identifiable fictional character: oof difficult... I usually ignore characters I am like in favor of ones I like. I've always had an affinity / identified with Jaden/Judai Yuki I guess. Admittedly a little bit of Lena Duchannes in her artistic but isolated spirit, being outcasted and Ethan Wate with his suffocating small town trapped feelings. They're from same series Ridley is from.

What color your aura is/think it is: red of some sort. Either metallic or a deep maroon.

Favorite muse you’ve had so far ever: Luna. I’ve invested so much time and love into her, and she’s really come so far from when I first started RPing her, so she’s easily my favorite muse. However, my Assassin’s Creed muse is also very dear to me. God, I love him so much. Out of all the muses I’ve had in the past, he’s one I regularly want to go back to.

Muse you kinda wanna pick up: Mm. Don’t judge me, but I enjoyed Charlie from the FNaF novels quite a bit, though I’d probably also lean heavily into the game lore, since we now know her role in those, too. But I haven’t had a lot of inspiration for new muses so much as I constantly think about old ones lol

Most identifiable fictional character: I can’t think of many off the top of my head, but I tend to feel like a mix of Rapunzel from Tangled, and Megara from Hercules.

What color your aura is/think it is: I think...maybe a bright blue? With a constant tinge of anxious red that fluctuates.

Personality stuff you agree with (astrology, mbti, Hogwarts house, etc be as specific as you want!):��This one is tough because some of it is self-identifying, which is very subjective, while others are observational, and some are incomplete. I enjoy all of these as character building tools and such, and I know my general personality test results, but I don’t particularly live my life by these kinds of things. (But the zodiac is a favorite, I love it. Luna and my AC muses are both Libras, but while Luna regularly fits as a Libra on the cusp of Virgo, Cal is the most un-libra-like Libra I have ever seen. He’d work far better as an Aries tbh, but check his October 21st, Libra-Cusp-Scorpio birthday and laugh with me that he fits neither.)

Do you think you’re a good driver: Yeah. I mean, I used to be a bit less cautious, but I was in a car accident with a street light in December 2016 because of all the ice, I broke my hand and ended up having surgery (to remove a tumor that started growing because of the break), and I’ve become a bit more careful. Still, I don’t put my car in a full stop to make a turn. 

Favorite minor discourse (pinapple on pizza, what color is the dress, etc): I don’t know if it was more than just a small thing on twitter, but I saw several tweets about gummy candy, and my answer is sour gummy worms.

Favorite vine and/or meme: idk about vine, but I love the Star Wars ‘high ground’ meme. Also, all the EA memes.

Why did you choose this muse: Sort of an aligning of the stars or whatever. I had just left a fandom rpc for being incredibly toxic (which sucks because I’d been wanting to RP that character for years) and was in-between muses, looking for someone new, and then E3 footage of XV aired and it really caught my attention. I resisted for a couple of weeks since the game hadn’t come out yet, but July 1st 2016, I gave in. I researched everything I could about the game (since previously I had known mostly the Versus XIII version of the game and hadn’t looked too deeply into XV), theorized heavily on what I thought would happen, and then dove in.

Favorite rp memory: Hmmm. Well, there was an intermission I had between group / fandom RPs, during which I had just a personal thing going with one friend. It was Marvel with heavy leanings into mythology (since it was Sif, Thor, Loki, Sigyn, and several others), and we had just...these epic plots and plans, and at one point, we took such a turn with the plotting, killed one of our characters after a year of buildup, and sure we brought her back eventually, but man it was devastating to write her dying. Still sticks with me to this day. My heart doesn’t regularly shatter while RPing, but that one did it. (Jay recently did this to me, too; broke my heart to pieces and it was so good. I’m still not recovered.)

Favorite thing you’ve written, in rp or not: Most of my ‘favorite things’ I’ve written are either super short oneshots, or like...a line, or a scene or a paragraph in an RP. Sometimes, I surprise even myself when a combination of words comes out that’s particularly good. By way of plots, I’ve got some really well fleshed out ones with Jay that I’m absolutely in love with, and I enjoy writing pretty much everything we do there. Also, on my AC muse, I have a lot of stuff I’ve really enjoyed. That fandom was so down for flexibility of plots and exploring all sides of characters. I had AUs on AUs and it was glorious.

OOC i’m friendly and like talking, so not wanting to rp together is never an indicator that i dislike you or we can’t be ooc buds- I just get fairly picky and only write with people whose style meshes well with mine.

Favorite muse you’ve had so far ever: it’s probably a toss-up between Will Graham from Hannibal and Reigen Arataka from mp100. Will was a really strong character that challenged my writing and made me pick up lyricality and character voice as traits. Reigen was just really FUN and coming up with the wild shit he’d say always challenged me to be fun and funny.

Muse you kinda wanna pick up: I’ve high key thought about one of the FFXV ladies (probably Cindy or Sania) but unfortunately I’m too busy to run one blog as well as I want, let alone two.

Most identifiable fictional character: I think I identify most with Reigen Arataka. He’s got the whole milennial experience down- 28 years old, no social life or money, fake it till you make it, most marketable job skill is “if i don’t know how to do it yet, give me 10 minutes and google”. I think a lot of his behaviors mirror mine, too, as far as talking with his hands, fidgeting, his facial expressions etc. 

What color your aura is/think it is: Probably some variety of blue or aqua? Cyan, maybe. 

Personality stuff you agree with (astrology, mbti, Hogwarts house, etc be as specific as you want!): I’m a Saggitarius and Chinese Zodiac Horse, so.... Horse Mc.Horsehorse. Also Slytherin and INTJ. All of which sound pretty bad in combination (flighty, no sense of commitment, social climber and logic above emotion) but I’d say while they’re spot on, I try to be pretty cool.

Do you think you’re a good driver: lol I can’t actually drive. Literally do not know how. 

Favorite minor discourse (pinapple on pizza, what color is the dress, etc): I like coleslaw discourse but as a southerner that lives in a BBQ city where coleslaw is a Staple of our diet, I just cannot abide by hatred of it. Come eat it with pork bbq and THEN decide.

Why did you choose this muse: Noctis is a really interesting character that I don’t think is actually many people’s favorite of the chocobros? I definitely know Prompto is the Big Favorite, and that Ignis is second fave after Episode Ignis, but Noctis really stuck out to me. His character arc is about accepting sacrifice, and not running away from your problems anymore, and repaying the friends that have been willing to lay down their lives for him since day one. 

That, and I relate to him in some ways! Noctis 100% completely reads as a depressed character to me, and depression is such a major part of my life that I sort of find myself drawn to discussing and exploring it via rp. Likewise, I read him as disabled and with chronic pain, and that’s a major part of my partner’s life, so.... Idk, a lot of things about him are very close to home and I care about him so much ;v;

Favorite rp memory: there are quite a few, aaa.... for OOC it’s definitely the times I’ve gotten to meet RP partners IRL. IC.... I think maybe the time totus and i were up at three in the morning and both of us had a lightbulb moment about how to save a character. Just aggressively texting at each other OH SHIT, FILM, IS FLAMMABLE, THERE ARE MILES OF FILM AND HE’S CARRYING A TORCH, AAAAA I think I also love the time on my Will blog that I wrote a ship marriage verse.... only for totus and I to write a messy, painful divorce and get all kinds of messages from people who were reading our threads and in a g o n y  over what we did :-) 

Favorite thing you’ve written, in rp or not: I think The Monstrosity! It’s an UTRP rp/fic we published a few years back. It’s pretty long, and I won’t link it because... well.... undertale..... but I adore that we (totus and i) sat down, wrote together and came up with a story with a clear beginning, middle and end and a character arc and themes and everything. I don’t usually write like I’m writing fiction- and even with that one, it was a happy accident, but it feels nice to have made something that people read and interacted with like a piece of fiction!

What color your aura is/think it is: Maybe something like that grey-brown of southern pines. Earthy, definitely.

Why did you choose this muse: Truthfully? Good question.. I don’t know for certain, but there are a lot of ways I relate to Ignis. At the same time, he’s very different from me.. There’s times when it’s hard to puzzle out what he would say or do in certain situations, especially because Ignis isn’t a very empathetic character and I’m empathetic to a fault as a person.

Ultimately I chose Ignis because he’s my favorite of the boys.

Favorite rp memory: So here’s the thing is I’ve spent ~10 years rping privately with the same person, so that’s.... a lot.

But I guess something that I really hold onto as far as rp goes is that my partner and I started our relationship by writing together nearly every day. It’s how we stayed connected and entertained each other and how we managed to grow closer together and eventually build the partnership we have now. It’s been amazing and really fun, and I’m constantly impressed by what he produces and brings to the table and the things we can construct together.

As far as my favorite scenes or events....

We briefly rp’d WTNV (maybe a month or two) but managed to pull out this really cool story with a lot of lore and good visuals and character interactions. One of my favorite scenes we did together was Steve Carlsburg rescuing Cecil and Carlos from their kidnappers in Desert Bluffs. It involved a car chase, nearly all our rps involve car chases.

Favorite thing you’ve written, in rp or not: Despite how poorly it’s aged, I’m still really into one of the longest things we’ve ever written together. It was a sprawling Black Butler rp that went through a contract gone horribly wrong, the Real Devil, and the end of the world that was a conflation of several different IRL mythos... It was Really Fucking Cool, and I can remember several nights I just...... didn’t sleep because we were in the middle of some huge scene together.

Give a shout-out to someone: @edenslostwallflower Fuu is super-cute, and Leanna is a really great character that I just.... love seeing on my dash. Please please please hit them up, there are so many amazing interactions to be had with this mun and this character. And I super-love the way they’ve integrated Leanna as the FF boys’ inventory system..... So cute... So clever.....

@bxstiarius I know he isn’t active currently, but this mun was one of the very first to approach me here. Durans is a really amazing character, and I can tell a lot of love went into him. I still go through the blog from time to time just to read through some of his amazing headcanon and worldbuilding posts.

Favorite animal: Oh, hmmmm I’m gonna fall back on my classic answer: cheetahs!

Favorite muse you’ve had so far ever: Ever? Honestly I’ve gotta say right now it feels like Lola. She’s fun to write as and people are liking the way I write her, and the game hasn’t even released yet. I’ll give honorable mentions to a couple of OCs I rped a while back, a Marvel gal named Trinity and a DC lad named Castor. I miss them to bits.

Muse you kinda wanna pick up: Um, well since I added a verse for the game and have been replaying it and its spin off recently I have to say one of the main trio from inFamous: Second Son. I’ve always wanted to rp as Delsin but I love Fetch ad Eugene just as much. I’m kinda gravitating towards Fetch though when I toy with the idea, even though I’d love to write any of them.

Most identifiable fictional character: This one’s very difficult. Very, very difficult because as I am right now, I’m not sure I can think of anyone that really comes close to being like me. I know when I was younger I identified a lot with Jim Hawkins from Treasure Planet, y’know I was living with just my mom for so long and rarely saw my dad, I wanted to be a good daughter but got caught up in daydreaming all the time. Nowadays though... I’m just not sure.

What color your aura is/think it is: It’s probably a really deep violet, a blue-leaning sort of purple.

Personality stuff you agree with (astrology, mbti, Hogwarts house, etc be as specific as you want!): I may not understand a lot of astrology stuff but my sun sign, Taurus, I 100% am on board with. Y’know, until people are being ridiculous and reducing my sign to “oh I’m always hungry”. I don’t actually care for my Hogwarts House anymore because with the introduction of Ilvermorny it solved the problem I had for so long with Hogwarts’ sorting situation. With them I was always toeing the line between Ravenclaw and Slytherin, both are very mentally-inclind houses and I fit them both. Now I just stick with Horned Serpent at Ilvermorny because their entire premise is about importance placed on one’s mind.

Do you think you’re a good driver: Sure would like to know, if only my anxiety would let me breathe when I get behind the wheel. c:

Favorite minor discourse (pinapple on pizza, what color is the dress, etc): Idk I don’t relly get into the petty discourse that gets super popular. Maybe I can say I love mint ice cream? Like I know there’s a swath of people that think it tastes like toothpaste. They’re wrong, of course.

Favorite vine and/or meme: I don’t really... have favorites. Like I wasn’t really into vine when it was alive and I mean, I just don’t think about memes that much to have a particular favorite? I’m a bland human being, I guess.

Why did you choose this muse: This’ll be a two parter since I have two muses. Lola came about first, as soon as we got the teaser image for Afterparty I was excited beyond belief. I loved Oxenfree and played the shit out of it when it hit ps4. (I’d even have the platinum if I hadn’t fucked up on my last playthrough, oops). And the Night School tumblr posts periodic things with character and concept art, and eventually the first trailer dropped and I lost my shit. I immediately fell if love with Lola and Milo, and I decided awhile back to try and make a different multi blog with Lola, Alex from Oxenfree, and Mae from Night in the Woods. It was a sideblog with a pretty niche audience so things were quiet there. It wasnt until DBH happened that gears really started turning.

Because lemme tell you, I kinda wanted to not like Detroit: BH. I’d watched playthroughs of Beyond Two Souls and heard a lot of good stuff about Heavy Rain’s story. For some reason though I just wasn’t feeling the promotional stuff for DBH. I only decided to check out the playthrough I finished watching because I really love and trust the Youtuber who made it. I didn’t know shit going into except that there were androids and I’d seen glimpses of Kara before. So of course Jesse fucking Williams is in it and sweeps me off my god damn feet. I think I made it through what would amount to a couple of hours of gameplay (broken into parts ofc) before deciding to uproot Lola from her old blog and buddy her up with Markus.

Favorite rp memory: Hmmm. It’s a lot less actual roleplaying and more, I guess more of the acceptance. A few years back, right around the time Agents of SHIELD first aired, I made an OC I actually mentioned up above, Trinity Duvall. I was toying with the idea of making a super powered character that wasn’t necessarily a cape-and-costume kind of gal, because I was like... 17 and had no experience with the original comics or anything other than mainstream superhero stuff at the time. I decided I wanted her powers to not be her own, but tied to a stone that landed inside a meteorite, and that the stone would actually have the soul of an alien being tied to it. It’s a little complicated so I on’t go into details, but I felt at the time like I was taking a gamble. I wrte a couple oneshots about her, applied to a forum rp with her, and eventually ended up doing private rp stories with someone I met through that forum. Never once did I have to change her, she was just welcomed right away. And coming off a shitty run of luck with the first site I’d rped on? It was the confidence boost I really needed.

Favorite thing you’ve written, in rp or not: It might sound a little silly, but I’ve mentioned Defiance on her a couple times so why not. The one story I’m most proud of writing is actually on FF.N, it’s called Fragility. It’s a short oneshot, not even 2k words. At the time I was trying to just write as often as possible even if I hated what I wrote afterwards, but this one... It provides an ending for a character the show kinda leaves in the void. A man comes home from space to find out the whole world has changed, an entire war has left the Earth terraformed with humans and aliens living together. He ends up finding out his wife’s still alive but oops, he’s actually not the real Gordon he’s just an alien that was implanted with Gordon’s memories. Every now and then I go back and read that little story and every time I do I still feel proud.

Most identifiable fictional character: oof difficult… I usually ignore characters I am like in favor of ones I like. I’ve always had an affinity / identified with Jaden/Judai Yuki I guess. Admittedly a little bit of Lena Duchannes in her artistic but isolated spirit, being outcasted and Ethan Wate with his suffocating small town trapped feelings. They’re from same series Ridley is from.

Why did you choose this muse: actually it was bc i didn’t really care for him at first.
