Raphael appeared in the Elfsong Tavern, carrying his little mouse's lifeless body.

Their companions all jumped up, ready to slaughter him. He ignored their threats and demands for answers.

He approached Withers with a serious look.

"Interesting." the skeletal being commented.

"There was... an acccident. Bring them back." Raphael demanded.

Withers gave him an appraising look, "I'm surprised thou didst not try to do so thyself. Is it not thy everyday business to pluck souls from the fugue plane?"

Raphael heaved a sigh, "That would mean they'd have to agree to bind their soul to me by contract and go to the hells upon death." he paused, but the skeleton kept looking at him. Waiting for elaboration, "I don't want to condemn their soul." he admitted, looking away.

"I see." Withers said, "I will ask if they are willing to return."

Withers stetched his conscience into the fugue plane - it was not hard to find Tav. Their soul shone brightly, like a star.

"I have come to return thee - if thou are willing."

Tav nodded eagerly, "Thank the gods! Or well, thank you! That was a really stupid death."

Withers smiled, "Humor me, what happened?"

Tav scratched the back of their neck, "I was... tickled to death. Pretty sure that was an accident."

Withers laughed. Tav wasn't sure if anyone had ever heard him laugh this genuinely.

Eventually he got a grip, "Mh, yes. An accident. That's what Raphael called it as well."

"You spoke to him?"

Withers nodded, "He brought thy body to me."

Tav blushed, "....wearing.... wearing clothes right?"

Withers smirked, "Yes. The devil has some decency at least."

Tav didn't look forward to explaining this one to their companions.

Current Obsession: Surviving, lol. No. Uh. Still in love with Raphael. Still love Jaheira.  I’ve actually managed to combo the Jaheira loves in my love of Dragon’s Dogma. I’ve been running around with a Jaheira pawn.

…She bosses me around and chides me for picking too much crap up, so it fits.

WIP - Do not call Raphael old (or maybe do that)

Eirin adjusted the hood around her head, looking both ways before crossing the street. Failure to pay attention in a place like this meant she would end up with a lighter purse and a knife to her throat. It was a rainy, ugly night. The kind that would make the average person stay at home with the windows well closed and the doors safely locked.

Her latest deal with Raphael involved trading a magicked skull for an item that increases one’s vitality. The idea of keeping secrets from her party didn’t make her proud, but guaranteeing their survival took priority. They would forgive her, eventually. If it was any consolation, she never intended to give Raphael his much-coveted crown, even though she wasn’t above dealing with him on more agreeable terms. She prepared herself for the worse, but he was all too happy to oblige. Perhaps a little too happy.

Raphael was sitting in the far corner of the bar, with Korilla at his side, when she entered the room. It took only a second to recognize them, standing out from the crowd like a flower among thorns. Quite an unglamorous place he chose this time, she noted with a cursory glance. Not his usual scene, she’d wager, but it served its purpose.

The discreet bag was unceremoniously dropped onto the table with a thud. She went through quite a deal of trouble at Lady Jannath's estate to acquire that skull, and quite some more to keep it under control. Part of her was beginning to think the reward wasn't on par with the effort.

Raphael donned a black-and-red doublet that night, every inch of him a prince. Looking at the devil always brought a mix of fascination and uneasiness. His teeth were too white, his hair so shiny it could as well have been polished with varnish. But she supposed there was a purpose to it, all part of his meticulously crafted appeal.

“If you would be so kind, Korilla dear.” Raphael’s velvety baritone cut through the silence.

“As you wish, boss.”

The dwarven woman didn’t give her time to dwell on her thoughts. She gave her a look of disapproval, frowned, then stood up from her seat and took the bag with her down a dark hallway. If Raphael noticed the waves of jealousy radiating from his esteemed help, he didn’t comment on it.

“Tav, Tav, Tav. How can I be of further assistance? Can I interest you in a good wine to wash the palate?” He waved to the barkeep, and the man filled her a glass and slid it across the counter in record time. “This one is twelve years in the making, half your age, if I recall correctly.”

“That depends,” she answered, ignoring his prattle. “Do you have anything else in store for me?”

“So quick to change the subject.” He gave his best winning smile. Destined to warm hearts and make tongues wag. She was almost ashamed to admit she wasn’t exactly unaffected by it. “You know what they say.” He lowered his voice conspiratorially. “After business comes pleasure.”

A manicured brow went up to her hairline. “Not for me. I work around the clock.”

“What would convince you, then? To partake in a singular moment of bliss?” he said, placing a hand on her knee under the table.

Eirin flinched but didn't move. To an unassuming witness, the touch was no more than friendly banter, his fingers barely touching her skin, but she knew better.

His bold proposal didn't come out of nowhere. She wasn't ignorant of the way his eyes followed her around the room, the slew of backhanded compliments, and the double entendres he slipped in here and there. The question was why here and why now.

She chose silence instead of answering, swirling the liquid in the glass, before giving it a good try. Bold, with a note of sweetness. Must be his favorite.

“No disrespect to the good vintages, they have their uses, but I prefer something a little… fresher?”

That did the trick. He reclined back in his seat with his arms by his side, all mirth and warmth vanishing from his face. “Is that so?”

The wine must have made her more daring or she just liked the way his face turned sour a little too much, because suddenly, she couldn't shut up. “You fiends are all talk. I’d rather try my luck with the town drunk.”

Happy New Year’s Eve everyone! As the final hours of the year are beginning to count down, I wanted to take a quick minute to give a few shoutouts and thank yous to new and old friends alike.

You guys are (1) the absolute coolest, most talented people and (2) just the most hilarious and kind, warm-hearted people I’ve had the privilege to meet. All of you are total treasures and I can’t wait to see everything you guys create in the next year!

Next, some special shoutouts to @shahs1221 and @rebeza, who are two of my favorite artists across, well, the entire internet. Most of my bouts of creative motivation throughout this year can be accredited to these two magnificent people; your art is truly on another plane of existence, so please accept this mere fraction of my gratitude for blessing everyone with your work.

Of course, I have to give a huge thank you to @atlabeth, my oldest mutual on this site. You’re a wonderful ball of sunshine and I genuinely am always so happy to see you appearing on my timeline. You’ve got a wonderful gift and I’m so lucky to be able to watch you continue to grow. Love you so much, girlie!

Lastly, I want to thank two special people: @sky-kiss and @rosewrites, who have become two beacons of friendship in my life that I am eternally grateful for. @rosewrites isn’t very active online anymore, but she’s an absolute gem of a human being and was one of the closest people to me a couple years (?? time flies??) ago; babe, you still deserve a shoutout this year because you genuinely imprinted such a lovely sense of warmth and kindness on me, and I absolutely love hearing from you.

I only met @sky-kiss this year, but within these past few months I’ve been incredibly lucky to have been in close company with her. Ney, you’re an absolutely spectacular human and an even better friend— I can’t express the immense gratitude I have for your presence. I wouldn’t have had half of the inspiration and drive I’ve had this year without your encouragement and support. I always look forward to seeing your messages, and I can’t wait to enter the next year with you. Love you tons, babe!

In general, I have so much to be grateful for this year— all of you have been my biggest cheerleaders, and I am more proud of you all then words can express. So, here’s to the next year and many more together! 🥂

Fic recs

In light of some stuff I saw, I decided to make this post to briefly talk about some fics I really like and recommend them. All are BG3 related and most are Raphael. Also, there's some authors that write a lot of great fics, I'll try to keep one fic per author or else we'll be here forever (but definetly go check everyone and their other works out!)

Cheerful Oblivion by @sassyandsodone - Read the tags before reading this but Love me dark stuff, the writing is amazing (legitimetly gasped at a few points) and the mix of Tav not remembering what happened and the dehumanization aspects were the cherry on top. It

I Don't Think About You Anymore (But I don't think about you any less) by @sky-kiss - This fic put me in a lot of different feels, ESPECIALLY SAD (which i do like, love when stuff makes me feel) and the ending was unexpected to me but it made it all worth it. Shed a tear or two

Devil's Debauchery by ChildofYugotth - One of the first fics I read on the Raphael tag, the first chapter lives in my mind rent free for many, many days, and I really like how the three chapters kinda go like regular raphael, haarlep and then ascended fiend, like a progression. Also read the tags.

Fallen in Flame by @cambion-companion - Love the dynamic between the two characters and how their relationship developed and the conflicting feeling that Tav has of like, being an aasimar and dealing with a devil

The Devil that knows you by @timesthatneverwere - Cat!Tav was not something I knew I needed before reading this. The relationship between Tav, Raphael and even Haarlep in this one is VERY interesting to me (and has lowkey inspired me some times) and I love seeing Raphael keeping secrets and manipulating people (also i have to mention, this fic gave us the mephisto fuck chamber)

Let the dream begin by DiscordsMuse - POTO inspired, this has hit me in the feels with relating to Morrigans struggles of feeling rejected, and honestly, Raphael as the Phantom was amazing.

finirà bene by @inaconstantstateofchange - A Halsin/Astarion/Tav one for a change, this is such an interesting and heartbreaking concept, but there's also this sense of mystery that I think is really well done. Also, beware the ANGST

Her soul will burn all the way down by khapikat222 - Read the tags, another dark fic that I loved, and this one had this manipulation and fucking with someone's fears that I really liked. Also, props to the author for making the lullaby fit, it was a great cherry on top.

Baldur's gate 3 infernal oneshots by @hrefna-the-raven - chapters 1-4 are a little story between Raphael and Tav that I really liked. The dynamic of raphael being more protective and the cat and mouse analogies were really fun!

The Intimacy of Pain by @bearhugsandshrugs - This is an Abdirak/Tav fic which I found so delightfully good, like the descriptions of how Tav was feeling and the mix of pleasure and pain were really well done

The Devil's Hour by @adarlingwrites - Also one of the first fics in the tag that I read, and what made me like OC x Canon, love the complicated but also interesting to read relationship between Fortune and Raphael, and another aspect that I really liked was Fortune's relationship with art and her parents being brought up like (like idk why but those two things really stuck with me)

Sweetening the Deal by @adevilyoudo - I have to admit that I'm a bit behind on some chapters BUT it's a great work, love seeing this side of Raphael of trying to convince Tav to take this deal (and in a way, almost confusing her even more) and I loved to see the side of the Emperor constantly being in Tav's head, I think it really conveyed well how that feels like when playing the game

The Devil You Share a Room with by @djmorn - Really fun concept and the shennanigans between the two in the beggining, when Tav is reluctant to share a room with Raphael, was a delight to read and really really fun.

Damaged by @dark-and-kawaii - This is a Rolan/Tav one, it's dark but it also tugged at my heart in a sad way, with Rolan feeling all these things and doing what he does because of the abuse he suffered and Tav also trying to understand that. Like aaaa it just, it's some good stuff this fic

Who's the Daddy by Follyfall - This fic is the definition of fun and a good time, I legitimetly laughed a lot while reading it. The writing is fun, the concept is hilarious and the relationship between Raphael, Tav, Haarlep, the baby and Wyll is really really fun.
