one thing i love about this fandom is that while we're still miles behind where we should be in terms of 'men don't have to all have the exact same body type to be beautiful' and while they're all, yes, tall and conventionally attractive
we have a tangible example of four men who look different. who present different. but are all admired and seen as beautiful and attractive and whatever other adjectives you'd rather use. who are real and human and that means their bodies change sometimes and sometimes we even get to hear how they feel about that, a chance to care, a chance to see them as real humans--and they let us into that, to some extent, but also, there's a capability of the fandom to see beauty without comparison here too. and it's showing. and yes it's not perfect. but our little brothers (and please don't think I'm just talking about cis boys too, I'm not) can grow up and see that you can look different ways. have different colour skin and hair and eyes and different builds and styles and whatnot and be attractive to millions.
#ashton irwin do you know you achieved exactly what you wanted to with skinny skinny now it's up to us to look after you too#i've been thinking about this phenomenon for a while even before i watched the most recent interview#and ik i sound academic about it it's because of my sexuality#disclaimer. they far from exhaust representation. they're all tall and cis and have conventionally attractive body types. i know that#but also; sometimes we have to have this kind of body positivity too. sometimes it's a next realistic step along with fat positivity etc#and god knows we have needed this for men for far too long#and they didn't really do anything but exist. yes i know that too#but representation matters and it's better than them all matching#5 seconds of summer#ashton irwin#michael clifford#luke hemmings#calum hood#5sos
